They are just little badges that say Baby On Board. You get them from tube stations. The idea is that people will look up and see your badge and give you a seat without the drama. In reality people don't look up and I normally just say loudly 'hi, would someone possibly mind letting me sit down' and normally someone does! I know that premier inn, it's on the main road and I walk past it most days on my way to work. Very convenient. My top tip is to have dinner at ciao bella on lambs conduit street which is probably 15 minute walk from there. In my opinion one of the best Italians in London. Google it! There is also the Brunswick centre round the corner which is a small open air shopping complex. Has some decent stuff. I would probably avoid the centre of town if you can. It's hectic and best avoided even when not pregnant! You could easily walk down to the British museum from where you are staying though.

cuphat · 13/01/2015 10:50

I'm off to London at the weekend. Hopefully we won't need to use the tube too much. Would prefer taxis!

BeanCalledPickle · 13/01/2015 11:04

Taxis not necessarily the best option. You pay a lot to sit in traffic watching the meter go up and up. And all the stop starting makes me feel very car sick! I think most of us who live here would always chose to walk if it's under a few miles- my train comes into kings cross and I work centrally and it would never occur to me not to walk. Even at nine months pregnant! What are you planning to do?

Chookford · 13/01/2015 11:09

Morning ladies

leanne lovely bump pic!!

Has anyone seen that new programme being adverstised on sky called Born in the Wild?? women across America are choosing to give birth in the wilderness in the middle of nowhere with no medical help on hand to enjoy the "primal, primitive experience" is it just me or do they all seem like a bunch of nut jobs?! Confused

mumxof3x · 13/01/2015 11:14

Ahhh I see bean :) thankyou for the tips, really looking forward to it now, dp worked in london 5 days a week last year and was just home weekends, but this is the first time I will have been so really excited for the new experience :)

cuphat · 13/01/2015 11:34

We're staying near Bond Street. Food at The Maze (no idea where that is) and then off to the O2 for a concert. Shopping in-between I guess. Have been to London loads but still have no idea where places are in relation to each other. Tube maps fill me with dread (so I just follow everyone else)!

BeanCalledPickle · 13/01/2015 11:41

The Maze is also near Bond Street so that makes sense. From there i would expect a cab to the O2 to take an hour, the tube twenty mins. You really really don't want to take a taxi that distance!

shinyhappyone · 13/01/2015 11:48

Sunshine, thanks for asking that question. Needed to ask the same thing - really hard, heavy, achy bump. Not worried now so thanks for responses Mum and Leanne xx

cuphat · 13/01/2015 11:51

Really?! The tube it is then! Thanks a lot Bean Smile.

Scottishgal78 · 13/01/2015 12:38

Congratulations jazzy. Lovely bump leanne

longestlurkerever · 13/01/2015 12:42

Ask for a baby on board badge at the ticket office and people should give you a seat. Outside of rush hpur the tube is quite civilised, honest! I regularly take it with dd, for example.

All good at my scan and we are team pink! Secretly pleased dd will have a sister as I adore mine.

FeelingBlessed77 · 13/01/2015 12:53

Congratulations for everyone who has had good scan results

That's great news mslad, so pleased for you.

Mum - why are you going to crayford on Monday, is that where your appointment is?

Chookford · 13/01/2015 13:14

leanne963 · 13/01/2015 13:18

applecore0317 · 13/01/2015 13:58

www.sockons.co.uk/

cuphat · 13/01/2015 14:11

We used sock-ons with DD, they're great.

BeanCalledPickle · 13/01/2015 14:26

Sock ons should be on everyone's essential buy lists!

Chookford · 13/01/2015 14:34

Sock on's are awesome! They saved me losing many many socks!

mumxof3x · 13/01/2015 15:07

Leanne no braxtons arnt suppose to hurt just a tad uncomfortable more uncomfortable which each pregnancy I think, mine hurt now though but was told in last pregnancy I more then likely have irritable uterus syndrome as even turning over in bed sets my stomach off into quite painful tightnings.

Congrats longest lovely news :)

Feeling- yes thats where my app is.

Got an appointment to see doctor at 6.30 now as iv had an horrible 2 days with the pains, iv had period pains in my back since yest morning and as I mentioned on the fb group iv been loosing plug for a while now (which I did with my last 2 pregnancys too) but its more frequent now. I really want to know why I keep getting pains and loosing it from such an early point, and I never got any answers last time just "its likely you have irritable uterus" but I just want to be on safe side too.

FeelingBlessed77 · 13/01/2015 15:10

mum - was just wondering as it's just down the road from me. Not a very big place, so seems weird to have a consultation there.

Racheyg · 13/01/2015 16:19

For those of you visiting London at the weekend, you can only get a baby on board badge in you email tfl directly. I'm unsure whether you will get it in time. Fingers crossed people will be be nice and give up their seat. Hope you guys have a great time Grin

Got my scan tomorrow. Well excited

mumxof3x · 13/01/2015 16:20
