Welcome, welcome, welcome to the 18th grads thread... celebrating the success of Just Shagging in getting us viroids upduffed!

For those that don't know, a 'viroid' is from the original JSing thread 1, where someone was trying to type ladies (in reference to all the JSing ladies), but their phone decided to call us all viroids instead!

The name stuck and we've been the JSing viroids ever since.

The thread we have graduated from is here in its 35th outing. WARNING: they're all a bit kerazy not to mention randy!

There is also a Just Mumming thread in postnatal clubs here for once your babies come along, or to keep up with the graduated graduates! It's a bit quiet at the moment, but with all these upduffed viroids hopefully it won't be for long!

There is also a private facebook group (so it doesn't give the game away in your news feed!)... if you want to join to see photos of new babies etc, just ask in-thread!

So, roll call below please, viroids!

Ooh gosh all these lists of things are making me think help! We're disorganized. I'm late to the party among my friends having their second babies so I'm just hoping for lotsa hand me downs!! One thing that saved my sanity were breast shells if you get leaky boobs (so not worth buying til baby is born). I spent most of the first month or so soaked in milk or spraying it all over the place - very enthusiastic mammaries!! I so can't be arsed to do dinner, who wants to come round & cook for me? Smile

Leela5 · 18/12/2014 19:04

Wow cookie! Time flies!

Look at my tea, doesn't it look disgusting? But it's amazing! Scrambled egg with mushroom and onion, cheese on toast with Worcester sauce and tomatoes sprinkled on top. Yum!

Found you all.

La I wouldn't bother with socks they don't stay on (or buy them but get a set of "sock ons" which stop them coming off/being pulled off). Also if planning to bf I wouldn't bother getting bottles pump etc beforehand, buy after baby is born. If desperate there's always 24hr supermarkets! You can warm breast milk up by standing in jug of hot water for a few mins no need for a special warmer. Do get plenty of muslins, nappies you will go through about 10 a day to start with, so hard to buy too many! Feeding pillow is helpful if bf. If you are inclined to do so try to find some of your stuff second hand, Moses baskets and the like get used for such a short period!

Minion · 18/12/2014 19:12

I'm ok ta.
Had a bit of a shit day, things piling up on me stress wise.
Now I just feel deflated and resigned to induction.
Trying to cheer myself up with frothy hot choc and Christmas vacation.
Doesn't seem to be working tho.
Humph
Grumble
Etc repeat ad nauseum

ChatEnOeuf · 18/12/2014 19:13

Agree the bottle warmer would be bottom of my list. Same for the sheep thing. Changing mat, car seat, nappies and lots of vests and babygros is all you really need. That and lansinoh. The rest are optional extras and everybody will buy clothes and toys so don't buy loads. Calpol is useful to have in, but not necessary for the first few weeks - if the baby has a fever that early you go straight to hospital! Same for teething gel. Nappies I'd get enough to last at least two weeks, sizes 1 and 2. That's just over 100 you'll want in the house. Shock I know. Amazon subscribe and save will save you a fortune and they deliver to you.

Yep, gel is designed to mimic natural hormones and start off the normal process. Drip is synthetic hormone and contractions are meant to be mote intense, straight away. This is the bit that can stress the baby but most cope fine.

I only succeeded bf because I'm a stubborn cow. It hurt like nothing on this earth for ten solid weeks. But it got better and it was so handy - I fully intend to do it again Smile

Take away Splodge?

We got given 7000 pairs of scratch mitts and hardly ever used them. How did you all get them to stay on? On a similar note, sock-ons are a genius invention.

I think a lot of time with breastfeeding people give up because a)they weren't prepared for what it would be like and b)didn't have proper support. Medical factors like prematurity/early illness definitely play a massive part and can make bf really difficult or impossible. A lot of people I know who gave up it was because they felt like they weren't producing enough milk because their baby wanted to feed all the time. Noone was there to tell them that that was totally normal. I would suggest finding out where the best support is before you have the baby. Local bf groups or counsellors etc because that really can be the difference between giving up and keeping going.

Research those door bouncers La, not sure what the advice is about them these days. Although we had a jumperoo and it doesn't seem to have done too much harm. Also remember no cot bumpers and dummies are advised to be orthodontic ones to use for sleep only and removed between 6m and a year. MiniWil would never take a dummy. We were advised to use one for her colic and also they are advised for SIDs reasons although I wonder would it be a pain in the arse if they spat them out at night and then that woke them up?

couldbeanyone · 18/12/2014 19:15

Also baby bath gets used for very short time (personally found it a pain and mostly used the sink or got in main bath with them! Although we were lent one by a friend) so another thing worth having a think about or sourcing second hand. There is some thing you can get for the main bath so they can't slip or it sits in there - someone might know what I am talking about?! Never had one but heard good things.

willywallace · 18/12/2014 19:20

Yeah we had one of those. Think I wouldn't have felt to comfortable using it when they are really tiny though.
Can anyone recommend good swaddling blankets? I tried with normal blankets last time and gave up because I couldn't get it tight enough and was worried about smothering.

lildottie · 18/12/2014 19:22

I have so much stuff in my loft from my mum and my cousin that when I am upduffed I'm going to have to get dh to get it all down so we can make a list of what we have before we start to list what we need! I have a car seat, which sits on pushchair frame until you use it as pushchair, a crib, a cot, a bouncy chair, a play mat, a changing mat, a tonne of babygros, vests, blankets etc, a baby monitor, a stair gate, a baby bath, a changing box, a top n tail bowl! I'm not going to need to buy much!

Fleurchamp · 18/12/2014 19:25

My goodness, so much to take in.

I haven't decided what to do about BF. I want to try but, sorry TMI, I have really sensitive nipples and cannot stand them being touched. I know it's odd, I have to be very selective about underwear and DH knows by now to keep well clearSo far being pregnant has made them pretty unbearable.

I am of the opinion that I will give it a go and if it doesn't work for me then I will use bottles. DH will be furious if I don't BF though.

RPopz · 18/12/2014 19:27

This thing splodge ?

www.mothercare.com/Mothercare-Ergonomic-Bath-Support/265758,default,pd.html

That's what we've got - apparently baths are a pain in the ass to move around when full of water to empty etc...

Weren't going to bother with baby towels but there's one free in the Bounty pack and I got bought another one by a baby shower attendee Grin Poor minipopz has barely got any clothes but I figure online will be the way forward when s/he's born... Anxious not to end up with a tonne of new born stuff that only lasts five minutes... kinda easier to buy less on team yellow!

willywallace · 18/12/2014 19:34

Not up to DH though Fleur. If he gives you shit tell him he can try doing it. If it's any help I also don't really like my nipples being touched and I find they hurt a lot in general. But managed to bf ok. Once you are used to it, it's ok. Not saying that it doesn't hurt like hell at first though.

Indigoblue2 · 18/12/2014 19:42

TMI alert!! My cm has a lot of white spots in it which rub away to nothing in between your fingers. Is this normal?

Indigoblue2 · 18/12/2014 20:03

Ah I've killed the thread Blush

Leela5 · 18/12/2014 20:17

:) indigo you'll get all matter of freaky cm - particularly after a poo, but I would double check white spots aren't yeast infection. Are you itchy? (Sorry for personal question!)

I've had loads of cm all the way through, sometimes feeling like I've wet myself

Indigoblue2 · 18/12/2014 20:24

No probs la! No itch and no odour, just white patches/spots. The dildo cam hit my cervix a couple times ouch so I wonder if it's dislodged some more cm? Plus there was lube on it.

Leela5 · 18/12/2014 20:28

Oh absolutely - it could just be build up, as attractive as that sounds! If no redness, odour, blood etc I wouldn't be worrying

Minion · 18/12/2014 20:37

I've resorted to using my breast pump to bring on labour.
I'll let you know...

Indigoblue2 · 18/12/2014 20:42

Oh min are you getting stuff out?

Leela5 · 18/12/2014 20:43

Oooh min is that meant to work? Good luck!

I know you must be so fed up but it can't be long now xxx

Minion · 18/12/2014 20:47

Got a little colostrum but I've been getting it for weeks so that's no clue for me sadly. However the cramps which I've been getting the last week have come straight back so who knows...
I hope it does something.

cookielove · 18/12/2014 20:52

rpopz we have a much simpler version of that just a frame with white towelling streched over it. Eli loves it.

When I told the midwife I suffered from a bad back she suggested a baby bath and stand. But we have never really needed it. Eli had his first shower on Sunday :)

I never top tailed bought cotton wool and it is still sitting in the bag.

Did use water wipes in the early days which are kinder on the skin, stopped using them when every bleeding shop ran out.

I would get a pack of size 1 and size 2. We did that then Eli was born ridiculously early and had to go in micro which were very cute.

Indigoblue2 · 18/12/2014 21:07

popz I think that's really sensible and hope I have the self restraint not to buy way too much stuff beforehand as well. It's so easy to buy online now and stuff arrives so quickly too. You'll soon work out what you need!

laurenamium · 18/12/2014 21:09

Good luck min Grin

lildottie · 18/12/2014 21:34
