New thread, as the other one was nearly full! Can someone please post the stats page, as I'm useless with things like that!

haha x post naturegirl - how funny!

Leela5 · 28/12/2014 11:16

I'm doing hypnobirthing :) - I've already signed up for classes

Naturegirl82 · 28/12/2014 11:50

I would recommend it. I had a fab birth experience, whether that was because of the hypnobirthing or not who knows but I'll definitely be doing it again.

BadIdeaBear · 28/12/2014 12:02

Cool. So now I'm trying to work out if it's possible to do OK at hypnobirthing by just reading about it and using the CDs, or whether the classes are crucial, cos they do replicate some of the content of other antenatal classes, don't they? And we've gone and signed up for NCT classes (our local NHS trust doesn't do antenatal classes anymore) already.

Naturegirl82 · 28/12/2014 12:08

bad you'll be fine if you stick with the cds. I did classes last time but actually found the cds more useful. If you have the book that will give you a good background. You need to do most of the work yourself outside the classes anyway so I think you would be fine with just the cds. I'm not bothering with classes this time.

Not sure i like the sound of another 2.5lb! But as i assume this will be a girl that probably means it wont be 10lb as that would be 98th percentile.
Awkward babies in our family breech (dn). Back to back dc1. - as was i.
Im not too concerned about rushing in in traffic as im sure i'll have time. About 40hrs from first noticing contractions even with pitocin and ventouse and forceps so it would have to ho much quicker. I think i could do with sleeping through the beginning as i woke up at 4am and got up, relaxing and sleeping would probably have got the hormones going. I'd probably try a birth ball at home.
We would need to take dc1 to hospital to wait till relatives get there, from an hour away.
I think maybe the majority are sent home at least once with DC1. As you cant tell how dilated you are from the pain (i found).
Does the tens do anything?

NotPennysBoat · 28/12/2014 12:28

Just a warning about the 'wait until contractions are 2 mins apart'... I went into hospital with DS after 20hrs and was sent home after being measured at 3-4cm dilated and contractions 6 mins apart. I was told to come back when contractions were 3 mins apart.
That never happened and DS was born a few hours later, at home and delivered by Daddy because we were waiting for contractions to get closer together!

All in all, my labour was 29hrs so plenty of time to get to the hospital, but I would say listen to your bodies ladies and not some magic 'limit' set by a mw!

Happy Birthday Broody , hope you have a lovely day.

DH b'day today too so we are heading out soon for a nice meal. I am so pleased to be looking forward to eating :)

Hope everyone is well, will read back soon.

BadIdeaBear · 28/12/2014 14:27

Thanks for advice naturegirl! I'll just swot up and practise at home then!

broodylicious · 28/12/2014 14:46

Thanks arete, same to your dh Smile it's crap having a Xmas birthday but at least I got to have a beautiful snowy walk in our local deer park with dh, dd, my folks, sister and nephew.

I've heard really good reviews of hypnobirthing too. I did pregnancy yoga with dd and I believe that made her labour and birth more cope-able - yeah it was still exhausting and a bit ouchie but I felt I could be in control of what was happening and just trusted my body was doing what it needed to at the time. I can be quite a stress head sometimes, particularly over planning things and big events, but both on my wedding day and during birth of dd, I shocked everyone by being uber chilled out! all went to pot when she was born but hey ho! Anyway, I think I may try hypnobirthing this time as I've got a preggo yoga DVD and probably won't be able to make it to any classes this time around. Are there any you'd recommend?

Pipbin · 28/12/2014 15:52

Want. How are you feeling? I feel completely normal. I'm 10+2 too.

Naturegirl82 · 28/12/2014 15:53

broody I used the natal hypnotherapy cds last time and they were good. I did pregnancy yoga last time as well and the two definitely compliment each other as they focus on breathing techniques and relaxation visualisations. I'll be doing both again as my labour was very chilled with no pain relief so if I can do that again I'll be pleased.

WantToGoingTo · 28/12/2014 16:17

pip I have regained my appetite so feel normal in that respect but feel so so tired all the time. Other than that pretty normal :)

StoneBaby · 28/12/2014 16:29

want same here. I'm eating a lot but could sleep / nap all the time.

10+3

MisterSafetyCatchIsNotOn · 28/12/2014 16:34

Wow NotPennys that must have been pretty scary! I'm surprised they sent you home at 3-4cm with regular contractions though, I thought they would usually keep you in once 3cm.

Doing it at home last time avoided any of those worries as I didn't have to go anywhere, they sent the midwives out as soon as I called (though it took a while for them to get to me) and I was already 7cm when they arrived. Don't know how I would have managed a drive to the hospital with contractions every 3 minutes though, doesn't sound fun! I wanted to try hypno-birthing last time as a colleague lent me a book, but never got round to practising or getting a cd. Might give it another go this time! Does anyone have any recommendations for cods? I'm also considering hiring a birthing pool, but then there's always the risk I won't be able to do it at home which would make it a bit of a waste. Has anyone used a birthing pool before? Did it help? Gas and air didn't do much for me last time.

Pipbin · 28/12/2014 17:24

I'm knackered too. But I just thought that was all the 'stress' of Christmas.
Glad other people are feeling normal too.

Pipbin · 28/12/2014 17:27

And, has anyone else got teenage skin?
Honestly it wasn't this bad when I was 14.

Leela5 · 28/12/2014 17:59

Knackered!

WantToGoingTo · 28/12/2014 18:11

Yes *pip I do! I originally went on pill aged 15 for skin problems. Thought would come back badly when I came off it but I was fine until a couple I weeks ago and then bam whole face nck boobs and stomach covered in spots Shock not this bad since I was 15 :(

broodylicious · 28/12/2014 18:33

Another dodgy skin here too pip. It was like this when I was expecting dd. V frustrating as normally my skin is flawlessly clear and never had a spot throughout my teenage years! Water and a very strict skincare regime is the only thing that can kind of keep it in check (I recommend something from neals yard or Liz Earle as they're natural products and won't harm your skin).

Pipbin · 28/12/2014 18:37

Broody I use Lush Ultrabland to take make up off and Dark Angels in the morning.

Fleurchamp · 28/12/2014 19:17

pip tiredness and pizza face here too x
