New thread, as the other one was nearly full! Can someone please post the stats page, as I'm useless with things like that!

Nat my DS was born on his due date at 9lb, my DD was born at 38 weeks weighing 8lb 2oz, both were preeclampsia babies which are apparently smaller?!! Both c-sections and this one will be too. Different father so I am assuming different weight.

Mister DS was 4 months old when I went back to work full time and DD was 3 months. This one will be 10 weeks as I only get 6 weeks pay at 90% so cannot afford the time off, also my job is such that I would struggle catching up after being off any longer.

I don't mind, to be honest being at home is really not me so it suits me and I have had no issues with DS (now 11) and DD (now 7)

broody I have no symptoms today but loads yesterday!

headlesschicken247 · 27/12/2014 23:03

No spotting since xmas day so fx all ok. Have my scan on tues so will hopefully be relieved at that point.
12 weeks today....

Thepurplegiraffe · 28/12/2014 07:55

Good to hear from you Headless, that sounds very positive if there has been no more. Good luck for Tuesday, my scan is on Wednesday!

Feeling terrible today, I have had a headache for 2 days which is just getting worse and I don't know how to shake it. That on top of feeling really sick and exhausted as usual (just been sick in the middle of writing this post). I have a really full on day today so not sure how I am going to get through it.

broodylicious · 28/12/2014 08:00

Interesting talk about birth weights. Dd was 8lb 9oz which i thought was quite big so did my lady bits at the time??Wink Labour, from the first contractions, was around 13 hours so again surprising, as I'd always thought I'd be going for longer with her being my first. With this one, i will be going for a natural birth again, hopefully a water birth if a pool is free. I'd love to try the mw led unit but it's about 40/50 mins away and then if there's any complications, I'd need to be taken to the hospital a few miles from home anyway. Is anyone trying a home birth or a mw led unit?

Thepurplegiraffe · 28/12/2014 08:04

I'm not allowed to use the mw lead unit because of my previous c section which is a shame as they have just built a lovely new one at my hospital which sounds great. A really good option if you can.

Leela5 · 28/12/2014 08:10

Has anyone else's ms calmed down? I haven't had any now for 4 days. It's such a relief. I'm hoping this is it and placenta is taking over

Naturegirl82 · 28/12/2014 08:11

broody I'll be using the mw led unit if all goes to plan. I won't have a home birth as it concerns me that it would be a 10 minute journey plus waiting time for an ambulance if anything were to go wrong. And as dd1 needed to be taken straight to nicu last time I wouldn't be able to relax.

My hospital is fab though as the mw led unit and the labour ward are next to each other, with nicu down the corridor and maternity ward (with private rooms) upstairs. I had a great experience despite dd1's difficulties so will definitely be using it again.

Pipbin · 28/12/2014 08:13

Leela. My MS was very mild, just a general feeling of nausea, but that has gone pretty much now.

Zampa · 28/12/2014 08:20

My ms has calmed down over the past couple of days (11+3). However, it's done that before and then reappeared.

My worst symptom is a claggy mouth/nasty taste. Only think that helps is drinking soda water.

broodylicious · 28/12/2014 08:23

That's my thinking, nature - I'd love to try the mw led unit but I'd spend a lot of labour worrying about whether everything is ok and it'd be even more painful if I'm all tense. I will do what I did last time and wait until my contractions are two mins apart (I think that was it? Is that the general advice?) then hope for a pool to be free when I get to hospital. This is defo going to be the last baby we have so I'd love to at least try for a water birth if poss.

headlesschicken247 · 28/12/2014 08:26

My Ds was 8,6. My main concern is speed. He arrived in 6hrs from first contraction!! Little bit quicker than I was anticipating!!
Hoping to use the mw led unit as I've good things about it.

Leela5 · 28/12/2014 08:36

Zampa mine is stabby right boob! Why not the left one? Always the right! Grin

Leela5 · 28/12/2014 08:37

Conversations about distance to hospital terrify me. We are 45 mins from the hospital. I'm sure I'm going to be giving birth in the car

Fleurchamp · 28/12/2014 08:50

I am on the outskirts of London, if I go into labour during rush hour it could take me 30- 45 mins to get to the hospital Shock I am only two miles away!!!

SophieBarringtonWard · 28/12/2014 08:54

I'm sure I've heard that the dad influences baby weight? I was 6lb, DH was 10lb, our DC were both 8lb 13oz (also both born at 11.30pm, very conveni net for my memory!).

I'm planning a home birth. Had a home birth to hospital transfer with DC1, a home birth with dc2.

Had a nice scan on Tues & they have put me back a week which is in kind with my cycles so edd now 3rd July (was 27th June by lmp). Having issues getting my blood taken for the nt though Hmm

Bustherb · 28/12/2014 09:16

Leela my Ms has calmed down. Since Wednesday I've only been sick 3 times whereas before I would be sick that many times in a day xxx

Bustherb · 28/12/2014 09:16

I'm 12 & 5 xx

Number3cometome · 28/12/2014 09:43

My MS did calm down, but then I was sick again the day before yesterday again. Yesterday was fine, today so far so good! Don't feel so nauseous either but the test will be work tomorrow and that arsehole train commute. That always throws me into nausea. Infact the thought of Abellio Greater Anglia is making me feel ill now haha

Sophie wow on the weights and times! I have an 11am and an 11pm which makes it easier!

I was also put back a week - next scan 15th Jan, seems ages away.

I do keep having uncomfy pains which I don't like but I think it's stretching.

I am a straight Csection, very likely under a general anaesthetic at 38 weeks so no options for me Sad

Baby safety first so I'm fine with that.

In this pregnancy I will be seeing an ortho surgeon, an anaesthetist an a cardio consultant, I feel so honoured Hmm

Number3cometome · 28/12/2014 09:46

P.s first and only labour was 30 hours in hospital (arrived at 2 dilated) can't remember how long I was in slow labour at home. Pain wasn't too bad overall, I think I coped ok but had to have a Csection (emergency under general) after I had seizures (eclampsia)
It's incredibly rare but baby 2 was a booked c-section at 38 weeks under a spinal block after pre-eclampsia raised her ugly head once again.

Praying it's third time lucky and this one will be uneventful!!!

Naturegirl82 · 28/12/2014 09:47

leela I wouldn't worry about the time to hospital as you'll have plenty of warning to get in there. The time only worries me if I were to have a home birth and something went wrong, but it's not an option we are considering.

Pipbin · 28/12/2014 10:12

A friend of mine lived an hour from the hospital. She went into labour and off the went only to be told to go away and come back in a hour.
So she went to the big out of town John Lewis and had a cup of tea and wander about for an hour.

misseskimo · 28/12/2014 10:43

My local hospital is about 15-20mins drive away when there's no traffic but you have to basically go via both town and past all the main routes in and out of town to get there, so if it's night time I'll be fine, any other time and will be anything from 30mins to get there...

I'm not sure on birthing options yet, have an apt with the gynae specialist on 30th jan who will let me know what my options are. I have both some physical and psychological issues which are going to make the birth a bit difficult for me so really not sure what she's going to say yet! Hmm

MisterSafetyCatchIsNotOn · 28/12/2014 11:00

I think bigger babies are often born quicker, gravity helps! DS was only just over 6lb which was surprising as he was bang on time and DH and his siblings were huge. My family were all under 7lb though so it must come from my side. I was in labour for 10 hours but went straight in to regular strong contractions, no slow labour build up thankfully. However my dsis's second was nearly 10lb (2.5lb bigger than her first) and born within 2 hours! So I'm not really sure what to expect with this one, just have to wait and see I guess.
I'll hopefully be doing it at home but the hospital is only 10 minutes away, the only thing that worries me is childcare. We have no family or close friends locally so if I do have to go in I'll be doing it without DH, which really doesn't appeal!

Naturegirl82 · 28/12/2014 11:11

Those thinking of their birthing options, something to consider is hypnobirthing. Sounds a bit woo but honestly it's mostly about giving you the tools to stay relaxed and accept whatever may happen. I'm a scientist so very analytical but I used it last time and found the relaxation really useful. Only thing is to be really effective you need to start it from about 32 weeks I think so earlier than you may actually be making decisions about things. I used the natal hypnotherapy cds which were good.

BadIdeaBear · 28/12/2014 11:12

Since we seem to have switched to thinking about the birth (!), I was wondering if anyone has any experience of hypnobirthing? I just got a book about it and my DSis said her experience of a home birth in October, using hypnobirthing techniques was 'amazing'.

I now have very few symptoms apart from being incredibly light-headed today. Pretty much every time I stand up I go funny (including a couple of times of my vision going a bit odd - not nice). I guess the answer is not to stand up...?!

We held a house party last night after our quiet Christmas - had 28 people in the house! It was fab fun and we shared our news to great excitement!

Parents in law get told today! But they're coming to us with the beginnings of a cold so I'm going to refuse to hug them!
