New thread because the last one was giving me "Sorry, this thread is too big to accept new messages".
Onilly - sorry, yes I am sure it's due date - see here - "the Regulations apply to women expecting their babies on or after 1 April 2007.... If an employee's 'expected week of child-birth' falls before 1 April 2007 the old rules will apply."

sorry to sound so niave and all that, and I can't find the thread, what exactly is SPD? it doesn't sound like much fun.

Actually starting to get my head round the whole which pushchair question. The first time we went to look and suss things out we were just overwhelmed, but we're narrowing it down now. thankfully.. just need to work out all the other bits now!

hmmm Revels.

Actually had a really bad weekend. Just felt in complete discomfort all weekend. Cramping pains and aches, and a stabbing pain the the left side of lower belly when I lift my left leg. Trying my best to get lots of sleep to try and improve my mood. Not sure its working, you'll have to ask DH!

kittythescarygoblin · 16/10/2006 10:27

Symphysis pubis disfunction= SPD. It's where the hips joints start to come apart and rub against each other It can range from midly uncomfortable to excruciating, rendering the sufferer whell chair bound (:
It happens because of the loosening ligamnets in preg

kittythescarygoblin · 16/10/2006 10:27

Sprry, crap typos today.

RabidZombieAmie · 16/10/2006 10:32

Kitty - Thank you.. though I wish I hadn't asked! ouch

Rosyspookily · 16/10/2006 10:32

Piffle its really uncomfortable and inconvenient to have, limits your activity and really slows you down BUT it isn't unbearable and it does go away again. I know my cousin was really bad and ended up in a wheelchair for pregnancy but I don't think thats common. It is a bit of a bummer though!

Diva what about a little lead attatched to buggy? Or a buggy board? My dd3 nearly 4 likes to walk and she has got the hang of stopping at roads but for ages my nerves were wrecked having her running loose!
I think our metabolism changes with pregnancy. After my last one I was nearly 2 stone overweight for ages cuz I was getting such crap sleep my body must have been holding onto every thing. But it is so satisfying losing it, we've only got a few months of getting bigger then we'll be shrinking again! I look forward to that!

Rosyspookily · 16/10/2006 10:36

sorry not dd3, dd age 3! Amie your twinges don't sound fun! Are you overdoing it?!!

RabidZombieAmie · 16/10/2006 10:45

Rosyspookily - I've never been one to really over do things but I've never been pregnant before so maybe I am... may phone NHS Direct.. I think some of it may be discomfort due to not being able to do a number 2 for a few days... But I don't know.

Rosyspookily · 16/10/2006 11:20

Oh yeah Amie, that'll probably be it! that happens to me though not so far this pregnancy. (prunes)
Fox there's a thread in pregnancy for old and ancient people and greengirlforever is calling your name!!

Jaykillandhide · 16/10/2006 11:55

morning all. DD in bed so time for a quickie..... post that is! Piffle I still have SPD from DD1, and its getting worse by the day. It started in week 20 of first pregnancy and got worse till about three months after birth, when it started to get better, then i got pregnant two months later and its gradually getting back to the point it was before, oh joy!! I went to the osteo twice a week for the last three months of my pregnancy, nothing will SPD from happening as (already mentioned)its to do with the pregnancy hormones which relax all the ligaments ready for childbirth, but i did think the osteo stopped it from getting to the stage where i had to get into a wheelchair, although i did end up on crutches. My pain wasnt in the hips though, it was right in the pubic bone. The pubis bone is actually teo piece joined in the middle b strong ligaments, its this ligament that relaxes with me, causing the two bits of the pelvis to move and grind against each other, its not fun and i can fully sympathise with you, remember, it does get better! Definatlely get a satin nightie and sheets, REALLY helps with turning over in the night time, and if you drive, sit on a plastic bag, so you can keep your knees together and 'swivvel' weh you get in and out. Try not to do too much walking, but equally do some, as sitting for a prolonged time can sometimes stiffen it up. Get an excercise ball and sit on that, seems to take some pressure of, and def get a support belt, not the little thin ones but a nice big wide one, looks poo but does help keep everything pulled together and 'tight'......hope that helps you!

Just thought maybe i should have posted that on your thread, never mind its here now!

Weekend was ok, went out for lunch yesterday with some old friends who hadnt seen for a while, which was great, felt REALLY fat after the double chocalte fudge cake with chocolate fudge sauce!!!! but it was yummy

Going for my 20 wk scan this afternoon, fingers crossed everything is ok, i have had horrid dreams that its going to be bad news, but i guess thats just nerves and apprehension. Going to find out the sex if we can, so i might tell you all when i get back

right, hoovering here i come.........

RabidZombieAmie · 16/10/2006 11:59

Jaykillandhide - Good Luck for this afternoon! I can't wait for my next scan! its in 2 weeks when I will be 22 weeks in to this pregnancy.. I'm still so undecided about whether to find out the Sex!

I hope some of that advice helps Piffle out!

Whoowhoobewhooooooh · 16/10/2006 12:29

Hi girls.

Sorry to hear about your poss SPD Piffle - hope the osteo gives you some good news. My hips have been a bit painful at night, so I nicked one of DH's pillows to sling my leg over while I sleep, which has really helped.

I need an all-terrain buggy too. Looked again at the one I thought I wanted, but it doesn't appear to have any under-buggy storage. Useless.

A Bugaboo may be the only way. Didn't want to get one, as everyone 'round here has one, and don't want to appear to be aspiring to yummy-mummy-ness. (Also they cost a bomb).

Hope you're feeling better today Fatfox.

Amie - hope you're more comfortable now. I've been a right b*tch to DH all weekend, for no reason really. Keep trying to stop the words coming out, but it's just like appalling PMT. Had to force myself away from MN yesterday, as I was getting angry on one of the threads. Usually manage to control myself better than that!

We don't get scans until we're 23 weeks here, so three weeks to wait. Definitely want to find out the sex.

20+1

divastrop · 16/10/2006 13:02

amie-not being able to poo can cause terrible pain.ive been getting lactulose solution off the doctor since i was 5 weeks cos its the only way i can go.i ran out last week and i was in agony.

kitty-i saw somebody with one of those double buggies you mentioned today.i was thinking of those 3-wheel double decker type ones where the baby goes undrneath.they look scary.

rosy-i have a buggy board but i rarely take both ds and dd2 out at the same time now.he still escapes when i use it anyway.ive tried a wrist link in the past but he just either undid it or nearly ripped my arm from the socket.i thikits a dicipline issue cos he walks with dp or his nursery teachers perfectly well

Piffle · 16/10/2006 14:02

Thanks muchly for all the advice
is def worse in the later afternoon so will attempt to get dinner sorted in the mornings and plonk dd in the bath with me in the mornings - although getting out is proving a painnful experience so might get ds (12 and very helpful) to help bath her pm for me.
Sleeping is the worst, every turn - am using pilow between legs as back was bad as far back as 3 weeks ago - the spd idea only clicked when I saw it on the home page this morning and googled it a bit. And when osteo said..
Sod the buggy for the new baby I might need one first
And as for constipation - well I'm not contipated per se but "sluggish" - used to be an every day kinda girl but now it's every 2-3 days...

foxinbubblesletsmaketrouble · 16/10/2006 14:09

Aime - ask yur GP for some lactulose - its a clear syrupy liquid and t really does et everything "moving". Don't leave it or you'll end up pile ridden

Really sorry for those who have spd, it sounds awful. Had a friend with it and she used to hobble along next to me when we were both PG

Please do stop talking about chocolate; I'm visualising Cadbury Dairy Milk now....just had a bowl of Shreddies as a poor subsitute.

Those two teir buggies are very wierd aren't they? The low down baby tier looks a bit too close to the ground Not sure about Bugaboos - agree they look a bit self conciously yummy mummy - you can imagine that every other Mum in Kew has them. In fact, I think they even have a special holder thing for the "skinny latte"

foxinbubblesletsmaketrouble · 16/10/2006 14:11

Piffle - you and I have exactly the same bowel movements

divastrop · 16/10/2006 15:01

may i ask(having been away from the london area for a few years now)(they have only just heard of 'chavs' up here)-what is a yummy mummy?

evilanniedividedin2byalargeaxe · 16/10/2006 15:03

Kate Winslet, apparently, divastrop! yummy mummy

foxinbubblesletsmaketrouble · 16/10/2006 15:11

Evilannie - that accompanying article about baby Charlotte is interesting isn't it..?

Where I live in west London, a yummy mummy is a middle class version of a footballers wife: an aneorexic blonde who spends her whole day either in the gym or Costa Coffee.

Miiaaaooowwwww!!!

Pass the saucer of milk please ....

Rosyspookily · 16/10/2006 15:20

Yeah thats a bit shocking about baby charlotte. I feel so sorry for them all. Life is such a struggle for some people.

I like Kate winslett. Think I'll be a yummy mummy. Though don't want to be anorexic just totally gorgeous with sweet cute cherubs in tow with their hunky 'manny' pushing my uber trendy shiny new buggy, which matches my handbag...

LunarSea · 16/10/2006 16:04

foxy - there are a few like that with kids in ds's class - listening to them their lives seem to be a constant round of gym, coffee, lunch, hairdressers (or other treatments) and shopping. I feel like I'm living in a different world!

OP posts:
RabidZombieAmie · 16/10/2006 16:13

Lunarsea - most the ladies in Leamington/Warwick like to think they're from Kensington don't they!

divastrop · 16/10/2006 16:37

ah so im the working-class scum version of that...got my figure back in 3 months through smoking(to supress my appetite cos i didnt have time to eat)and pushing a heavy double buggy round the streets cos i cant afford a car

what does one do with ones offspring whilst in the gym/coffee bar?its like another world to me,but there are women like that up here.they are so funny.they think having a dh who's a manager at tesco makes them middle class and entitled to spend all day at the gym/hairdressers and look down their noses at everyone else.

pass that milk fox......

do i have high standards when it comes to relationships ???im being driven mad by that 'im so hurt' thread ...is it really normal for men to tell their wives to lose weight or that they fantasise about other women in bed?!

RabidZombieAmie · 16/10/2006 16:40

Its the Letto or Aldi managers wives that you really have to look out for Diva!

I think you're probably right to have those standards.. if someone said that to me.. I wouldn't be in a relationship very much longer with them, and they'd probably have sore testicles!

evilanniedividedin2byalargeaxe · 16/10/2006 16:48

Lunarsea and RabidZombieAmie, I work in Lillington and know what you mean about some of the women in L'Spa, although the bit I work in is the really nice bit where someone got stabbed on Saturday

LunarSea · 16/10/2006 17:06

Amie - I don't know about most, it's just that the ones who are too busy working aren't in great evidence on the streets during the day.
