New thread because the last one was giving me "Sorry, this thread is too big to accept new messages".
Onilly - sorry, yes I am sure it's due date - see here - "the Regulations apply to women expecting their babies on or after 1 April 2007.... If an employee's 'expected week of child-birth' falls before 1 April 2007 the old rules will apply."

OP posts:

foxinbubblesletsmaketrouble · 20/10/2006 18:36

Where is everone this afternoon/evening?

Are you all driving off to your holiday cottages or somehing (LOL)?

Whoowhoobewhooooooh · 20/10/2006 18:46

Hi foxy: I'm here

Just got back from Oxford Street: yuck. Spent five hours looking for an outfit for this wedding. Why are all maternity clothes either for office-workers (i.e. not me) or slobbing about in? Was gazing longingly at all the clothes I could have worn a few months ago.

Sludge colours seem to be the thing.

Found a nice top in DP in the end, and bought a size 14 skirt in M&S, which will prob fit me for about a fortnight. I'm leaving the label in, and if I don't spill anything on it I'm going to brazen it out and try and take it back .

Had me norks measured in M&S. I've gone from a 32DD to a 36DD. Blimey.

Congrats on your boy! I love little boys: they're so funny. Any name ideas yet?

Hi Natty: nice to hear from you! My scan is on November 9th - they don't do them until 23 weeks around here. I'll keep you posted...

Laidback: yep, I always get sick if I'm stressed & tired - which I'm guessing you are at the moment. Hope things turn out better than you hoped in Sri Lanka.

kittythescarygoblin · 20/10/2006 18:47

Oh bloody hell fire.
ds1 has just squashed one of his gerbils with a bucket, it is no more. What on earth I am I supposed to do with the other one. They don'tlike being alone? Actually put this up ona thread and it has caused much merriment, s'pose it does sound quite funny

The day of ds2' party is supposed to be absolutely shite weather.

Laidback, glad things\have settled down a bit.

Foxy, glad you had a good night.

Got to go and search out a box to put said gerbil in now, bye x

TheBlonde · 20/10/2006 18:48

Hi, I'm just back from the hospital.
Had a renal ultrasound scan but all is fine and we got a fleeting look at the LO too

Whoo - glad to hear you found something to buy in the end

foxinbubblesletsmaketrouble · 20/10/2006 18:52

Whoowhoo - respect to those huge norks!!!

Yeah go on, take it back to M&S after!!! M&S won't notice, bless their 65% cotton socks!

Kitty - - is he upset?
DS1 I mean, not the other gerbil!

foxinbubblesletsmaketrouble · 20/10/2006 18:53

The Blonde - what's a renal ultrasound scan?

TheBlonde · 20/10/2006 18:54

looks at your renal system - kidneys and bladder

foxinbubblesletsmaketrouble · 20/10/2006 19:00

TheBlonde - glad the result was good

LaidbackinaTransylvaniancoffin · 20/10/2006 19:32

Kitty - my friends DS aged 4 put one of their kittens in an airtight biscuit tin ... needless to say, the kitten did not survive. She now has 6 week old twins and is watching her DS like a hawk

TheBlonde · 20/10/2006 19:52

Please guys I expressly avoid clicking on the pet death threads

divastrop · 20/10/2006 20:03

kitty-i had 2 gerbils when i was 17.i got home from school one day to discover that one had half eaten the other.i presumed it had died first as theyd been living happily together for about a year.the other one passed on a week later

fox-ive moved house more times than i care to remember.last time was easy as i was exchanging with ppl who had 4 grown up sons so they moved all my stuff for me and even plumbed in my washer etc
the most traumatic time was when i moved when 7 months pg with ds2.his father was meant to be decorating, fitting carpets etc but spent all his time and most of our money at the pub/bookies.i was up ladders putting up curtain rails and stuff and he didnt care.
if dp's attitude to packing etc is the same as his attitude to housework then we will be fine,as he just goes on a mission to get things done asap.

whoo-i used to work in m+s and i think if the label was still attached to clothes we assumed it couldnt possibly have been worn even if it looked that way!a woman once walked in asking for a refund on a skirt she was actually wearing cos it had a hole in the seam...because it was way to small for her and the stitching had obviously given up

is it normal to get braxton hicks at this stage??

divastrop · 20/10/2006 20:06

theblonde-sorryi posted that before i saw your post

kittythescarygoblin · 20/10/2006 20:08

Sorry, the blonde, but I don't know what's going to happen to the remaining gerbil. perhaps it will pine away, like Diva,s.
I once had a hamster with three legs. I can't remember WHY it only has three legs

leoghostlygaela · 20/10/2006 20:19

Laidback - that's terrible (not that you are back in SL, but about the kitten!)!

Fatfox - congrats on the scan!!!! I'm still considering whether or not to know if we are having boys or girls, but what does it change if you know? How does it feel to know?

Boys are great, maybe more work but a lot of fun! Its just impossible to find good names for boys!

Diva - good luck on the house, I've forgotten how many children you have, but the more bedrooms the better! With 3 children i would love to have 4 bedrooms!

The Blonde - Glad to hear all is OK. Was the scan needed because of the pregnancy? Sorry if i missed something.

Oh, feel much better after my shopping trip, I went into Formes where I was persuaded ot part with considerably more money than I planned to spend on maternity clothes for the whole pregnancy, and bought some of that magic oil from Clarins which is supposed to prevent stretchmarks (in my case hoping the b* don't get any worse - its the only thing i really hate about my body since pregnancy) , everything else pretty much went back to normal.

leoghostlygaela · 20/10/2006 20:22

My grandma had a dog called Fritz with 3 legs, that's about all i remember about her!

i think Braxton's hicks are normal but if you get them too often or your belly stays hard for too long it may be best to get it checked out and take it very easy.

foxinbubblesletsmaketrouble · 20/10/2006 21:28

Leo - I found out the sex each time and was glad for different reasons.

This time I felt really guilty about vaguely wanting a girl and in fact am now happy I am having a boy, as I think a brother will be good for both DS and DD! I find the not knowing quite difficult as I'm a bit of a control freak. Some people say "its one of life's few surprises, when your baby is born and you find out the gender", but I don't like surprises!!

kittythescarygoblin · 20/10/2006 21:40

I've always needed to know the sex each time too. I like to get names and clothes etc sorted and I feel knowing the sex helps me to feel closer to the baby.

Leo, lucky you with all the formes stuuf. I'm wearing a formes top now and it's so comfy. It's the only formes thing I have though and I got that second hand. I've been treating myself to some clothes from ebay. Alot of my big preggie clothes that are good for this weather are just too big at the mo as the seasons are different for this babe. the last was December so i needed summer stuff too. I go from being a size 6 at my fighting weight to a 14 by the end of most pregs ao I really expand . I've a couple of pairs of trousers that are the only ones I can wear in the last month, you know , when nothing fits anymore.
A couple of ebay trousers came today, both next, in good as new condition and sooo comfy, the pair for £16. I reason that I don't want to go round looking even more like a grubby, dishelved wreck than normal, so I'll buy some things thast make me feel good

TheBlonde · 20/10/2006 22:44

Diva - don't worry, pregnancy turns me into a complete wuss

foxinbubblesletsmaketrouble · 21/10/2006 07:31

Agree that knowing the sex helps you bond too!

This pregnancy I've bought 1 skirt (sale), 1 pull up trouser (sale), 1 linen toruser (sale again), 1 tea shirt, 1 blouse from Mothercare. The rest is recycled from previous pregnancies. I love maternity clothes which emphasise my bump, because during pregnancy is the only time I feel I don't have to hold my tmmy in.

Its very quiet on here at the moment!

leoghostlygaela · 21/10/2006 08:41

Kitty, ebay isn't quite the same in Switzerland unfortunately! I feel the same, almost all my clothes from the last pregnancy were from H&M and look really awful and worn out and I've bought a couple of things from there this time but trying on the Formes stuff made me feel wonderful and the fabrics are so comfy... so i decided its worth having a few nice bits ! Besides, they take the trousers up for free and if I get too big for the clothes they will do what ever they can to adjust them to fit me, H&M just don't do stuff that expand enough for the last month or so!

Been reading loads of stuff about natural birthing of twins. I'm getting myself all a bit wound up about the birth thing and also starting to question whether I really needed a cs with ds. They stuck a fetal HR monitor on my from the beginning which meant I had to lay down, maybe if I had been able to move around he would have got into a better position and his hr wouldn't have been dropping. THis is demons coming out that I didn't realise I had, I thought I had accepted and dealt with it.

kittythescarygoblin · 21/10/2006 08:52

Leo, do they have doulas where you are? I know twins make things a bit more tricky, but they really do make a difference to how you approach birth psycologically IYKWIM.

leoghostlygaela · 21/10/2006 09:01

Kitty, I think I could probably find one, but finding one experienced with twins could be another thing.... I have teh first appointment at the hospital with the consultant on the 31st and will see how things work there and how keen she is to support me in a 'natural' birth, if it doesn't look good then maybe i should look for a doula or private midwife to help me ask the right questions and discuss it. Private midwife may be better as it could just mean one less person in the delivery room.

onillyboilsandbroomsticks · 21/10/2006 09:59

good morning all.

Fatfox congrats on your result - thats fab. You will have to share your names.

I have my scan on Monday. I think I am 22 weeks now... not sure... have lost count.

I have to admit I have done quite a bit of shopping for maternity gear.... but reason with myself that its coz I have to look ok for work..... and I tell you lately that has been some mean feat.

Best find so far are jeans from TopShop... with an elasticated waist.. sounds gross but just like wearing tracksuit bottoms and are SOOO comfy.

Its the last big push on our bathroom today - that would make it a full three weeks of hell. I swear if they dont finish it today I am likely to murder.

Diva - good luck on the house search - we havent heard from DollyP in a while - last time she was moving in the process of - I hope her home and all is good.

Count me in for a London meet! Would love to meet up with you all.

I have to say am relieved its the weekend, builders in or not. This week has been absolute hell, for one reason or another. I am amazed at how low I can get, its a new experience.
It cant get any worse.... surely?

Theblonde, I am the same with animals....
