Welcome, welcome, welcome to the 17th grads thread... celebrating the success of Just Shagging in getting us viroids upduffed!

For those that don't know, a 'viroid' is from the original JSing thread 1, where someone was trying to type ladies (in reference to all the JSing ladies), but their phone decided to call us all viroids instead!

The name stuck and we've been the JSing viroids ever since.

The thread we have graduated from is here in its 33rd outing. WARNING: they're all a bit kerazy not to mention randy!

There is also a Just Mumming thread in postnatal clubs here for once your babies come along, or to keep up with the graduated graduates! It's a bit quiet at the moment, but with all these upduffed viroids hopefully it won't be for long!

There is also a private facebook group (so it doesn't give the game away in your news feed!)... if you want to join to see photos of new babies etc, just ask in-thread!

So, roll call below please, viroids!

Sort of Dulcet, he was most concerned that we'd missed it with DS, and when midwife mentioned it this time round at booking in he was very keen (as was I, but he was super keen?)

Then when we went for 12week scan and nt he wanted to wait 'just a few more days till we get the results' to tell anyone which made me a bit sad and confused like it would be immediate game over so why tell anyone? I told him the results would only be a number and percent that meant further testing but it put a wee cloud over everything for me? Thankfully came back low risk but it does play on my mind a bit that he was so quick to jump to his conclusion if you will, but I suppose I might have been before I knew how much you bond with the little person inside you from so early on? Think dads become dads when they hold them.

Leela5 · 13/12/2014 11:24

Ooh I need monster munch! Rare commodity round our bit.

I'm off to play with my horse today, yaaaay! I miss his wee long face and cheeky attempts to eat my clothes.

Dulcet I was originally booking scan for 23rd so we could announce at Xmas but I figured if it's bad news I'd rather have week to get head around it, so now it's this wed. Terrified though as it's with the same woman who did my first no baby scan. She's very nice but I don't associate her with happy memories.

Just spent the morning cleaning mould off all my horse stuff which was in shed. Must remember not to out nice things in damp shed!

Right - off to find some pickled onion goodness!

KFC - blurgh! Despite my veggie ness there's also that whole brain found thing that grosses me out! If you've not seen it then google it, it'll put you right off!

Leela5 · 13/12/2014 11:25

I agree with dad's not bonding til later - my dh is totally rubbish at understanding why I'm so worried just now. He just doesn't get it

willywallace · 13/12/2014 11:38

Also agree with Dads at least not appearing to bond until later on. Think they can be more affected than we give them credit for though.

MrWil said it was up to me if I wanted to get the scan and bloods done. A Down's result wouldn't have changed either of our minds. He knows less about other genetic conditions though and not sure how he would have felt about Edwards/Ptaus etc. I don't know why I decided to get it done this time, maybe just being a bit older and decided I would rather be prepared. Although I know early thirties shh I know i'm mid-thirties is the biggest group for the diagnosis to be missed anyway.

Baby is wriggling a bit this morning Popz. I'm going to have to delete this Count the Kicks thing off my fb. I freak out if I go three hours and can't remember feeling anything.

Pisghetti · 13/12/2014 12:01

Never in my life eaten ANYTHING from KFC. Never likely to either smugly opens another pack of Nik Naks unless they introduce a veggie option - I have no particular morals.

I spent the morning tracking down chestnut purée and making a veggie Wellington for friend's Christmas party tonight. I really fancied it when I looked up the recipe but now I've produced a filling which looks vaguely akin to dog food, I'm not feeling it so much. Also have to take a flying trip to work as my secret Santa presents got delivered yesterday a couple of hours after I'd left Confused heading into town now for a bikini wax, collecting my son and one of those hot chocolates. Busy busy!

DP is dead excited about baby coming but I think he does feel a bit detached from the pregnancy bit. At nine/ten weeks we were traipsing up and down mountains in North Wales and he got quite shitty about me not wanting to also fit in a few hours mountain biking because I was fricking knackered.

TheBooMonster · 13/12/2014 12:02

hangs head in shame and guilt so that pain I convinced myself was Branson hicks was totally an infection, am now on antibiotics and bed rest after the most stressful morning ever... And I got a stark warning that I need to keep an eye out for blood, contractions or 'pressure'. And to think I tried to go to work this morning whilst stubbornly ignoring the pain...

Pisghetti · 13/12/2014 12:03

Eek Boo! Glad you're getting treatment now - better late than never! Hope you feel better soon.

RPopz · 13/12/2014 12:26

Boo you silly billy! You should listen to us viroids!! Hope the antibiotics do their stuff soon. Now TAKE IT EASY!

Have fun La Smile

I don't think the menfolk understand the precariousness of the first trimester. MrP certainly didn't and I almost felt bad being the one to refuse to talk about it in case it didn't last! He was excited from the start but they definitely get more interested once it becomes visually obvious and "real" iyswim. I guess it is a bit abstract to them to begin with. Don't think he ever had any strong feelings about the Downs screening though. I always said point blank I'd terminate if I came back high risk... but everything changes when you're actually pregnant! I don't think I could've done now.

TheBooMonster · 13/12/2014 13:27

Thanks viroids, from now on I will listen to you and try to be less in denial of my own mortality :P

one thing I'll give mrBoo is that he is quite aware of the precariousness of pregnancy, his mum had a lot of difficulties and non-sticky beans so he knows what can go wrong. He wouldn't let me buy anything till fairly recently the things I bought without consulting him and his aside, and would get quite upset with me for telling people before the 12 week scan. He wasn't fussed by the downs screening, but he was happy for the non invasive tests to be done, had our chances come back high he would have been very against any invasive tests.

Flicking back through last nights talk of junk food has made me quite hungry! Not sure how many times I can send DH out to merinos today before it's concluded I'm taking the piss though.... he already went and got me soup and rolls and as much cranberry juice as he could carry!

willywallace · 13/12/2014 13:36

What's Merinos? Is it a posh shop? Glad you have antibiotics, get lots of rest.

Have just eaten a massive lunch. May have a snooze.

ChatEnOeuf · 13/12/2014 14:25

DH is very much aware of the precariousness of the first few weeks - hasn't stopped him moaning about the lack of JS-style action though Hmm. Having said that neither of us wanted to opt for the trisomies screening test - neither of us believe that termination is right for us so a risk would be unhelpful. If there are soft markers at 20-weeks we may opt for a late amnio or foetal DNA bloods in order to know for sure. Having said that, they would usually confirm with baby genetics once born anyways...

ZylaB · 13/12/2014 14:53

boo take it easy, feet up!

wil glad you've had movements :) I think they go quiet sometimes just to worry us!

la let's be scan buddies, I've got one on wed too :)

ZylaB · 13/12/2014 14:54

We bought some new fish today too yay, that was my busy morning, trip to the bank then wandering around fish shop picking pretty things Grin

The tree's going up later, but I'm making DH do any reaching bits!

willywallace · 13/12/2014 15:41

We have our tree up but I can't find a nice topper anywhere.

DulcetMoans · 13/12/2014 16:31

Thanks for the scan test answers viroids. I guess it's more confusing because I don't know what I would do. Seems a couple of you had decided before getting there but I haven't really. The brief discussion we had about it was that, if the baby was to be known to have a life limiting disorder then he wouldn't want to do it. But seems a bit counter productive to try this hard and then terminate. Hopefully it won't come to that though!

Sorry for the serious stuff!

Infection sounds nasty boo, hope recovery is quick!

What exact flavour is the hot chocolate you have pis? There's three different ones I saw at Costa alone!!

At inlaws today. Haven't told them yet but only because I'm not sure how... Leaving soon so guess we won't.

Minion · 13/12/2014 17:22

Is it the black forest hot choc? I have a serious weakness for them.
I've just got back from the hospital, been having reduced movements so they got me straight in.
Baby all fine, just having an off day I suspect. Head is 2/5 engaged and was given a sweep!
Oosh she wasn't kidding when she said it made toes curl.
Cripes. Have another booked for Tues too should this one be pointless.
As she went 'up' i was cringing like a mega cringer and she said 'so, have u considered an epidural ' hahahaha, hope I get her, great sense of humour!
She did say that after the two weeks I've had its no surprise baby has relaxed a bit as stress plays a big part.
Fingers crossed for me girls.

What's on everyone's to do list tonight? Bath, pork belly and bouncy ball at chez minion.
Exciting times.
Ish

lildottie · 13/12/2014 17:29

not breaking out the cod liver oil and on then min? I remember my mum.doing that 11yrs and 51weeks ago when dB was overdue. she couldn't drink on for months after but she had him the next day i think! likely coincidence as he was overdue of course!

willywallace · 13/12/2014 17:29

Ooh sweeps aren't fun Min. Well done for enduring.

Yeah Dulcet, it is a difficult and very personal decision. I am a little the same - feel like I could cope with anything apart from extremely serious medical things. Thing is, often the doctors can't even give an accurate prognosis so it's hard to know what to believe.

Tried and failed to have a nap and now feel like shit.

ZylaB · 13/12/2014 17:53

Fx she'll get moving min

cookielove · 13/12/2014 17:58

Hello everyone :)

I miss sleep Eli had the worst night he has ever had last night :( fx it was a one off.

You can buy nik naks in 6 packs in only nice and spicy flavour :)

I had a KFC the other day and my husband gets the zinger meal i get the fillet but they gave us both zingers I was not impressed!

min I hope your baby gets a wiggle on so you don't have to have another sweep!

boo glad to hear you are on the mend!

JuniDD · 13/12/2014 18:01

Good luck min

Sorry about lack of sleep cookie, sending some sleepydust.

Hoping to watch Strictly tonight. No guarantees though!

Indigoblue2 · 13/12/2014 18:04

Ooh I've heard about these sweeps! Doesn't sound pleasant Confused

Sorry all you graduated grads aren't getting much sleep. I've no idea how we will cope when we have our own, me and mr Indi luuurrvvve our sleep!

Pisghetti · 13/12/2014 18:32

It's the Black Forest dulcet - min is to blame glare glare it is my all time favourite cake so thought the liquid version would be good. It is. I seem to have developed a sweet tooth this pg Shock

Hope the sweep does the trick Min!

Off to a party tonight. Lots of fizz and smelly cheese. Joy. My pelvic pain has now got a friend in the form of sciatica so I'm not full of fun today. At least I have a PGP clinic appointment this week although I was warned they wouldn't actually do much Hmm

RPopz · 13/12/2014 18:52

Ooof min that made me cross my legs! Hopefully it wasn't in vain! Have a nice relaxing evening.

Was meant to be going Christmas shopping this evening but never made it out of the house. Oops.

The thing about Downs screening is that it is just a risk factor. People never thank me for saying this but even if your risk comes out a one in a million... you could still be that one! Shock That said, the consultants I work with are never particularly concerned by anything less than 1 in 5. Even though high risk is classed as 1 in 150 and below... The other tricky thing about Downs is that it's hard to know how seriously individuals will be affected.

Hello everyone! Hope you're all ok. Ooh sweep sounds fun! ;)

Well I went and played with my pony. I'm upset because they've cut his mane and shaved off his whiskers :(. He's a lusitano (like Spanish riding school) so is meant to have long flowing mane, and how's he meant to feel his food without whiskers? But of a frustrating day as he wasn't very good in school either :( so all in all bit rubbish.

I had my monster munch and I've ordered pizza tonight to eat whilst I watch strictly. I'm a bit worried coz I've not been the most healthy mum recently. The nausea put me off most foods and tiredness the rest. I'm good at work I have 4 pieces of fruit, salad etc and lots of water. But evenings this week I've been rubbish. Bad mum.

I'm going to try and be mega healthy from this week.
