hanflan - my MW said from the offset that a waterbirth would be ideal for my hip problems. I love being in the water, Aqua Yoga feels incredible for my lower body and little foxlet seems to like water too! But the first consultant I saw was adamant that only 'special requests' are allowed to use their pool. What, like royalty? I know it's a relatively new unit, but bloody hell.

The consultant I saw yesterday was a completely different kettle of fish. I showed her all of the research we'd done and to my complete surprise and elation she even singled out my concerns about my pelvic floor muscles being TOO defined (a symptom of hypermobility) and therefore more likely to suffer a large degree tear if not supported (by say, water). She said that on that alone I would be listened to if I did decide I was 100% set on an ELCS. To be listened to and treated like an actual person... I honestly felt lost for words.

Anyway, I could rave on forever about how wonderful the staff there were (they were running an hour late too, but immensely apologetic and not in the least bit phased by my anxious flapping!).

Hope you all have a wonderful Christmas; after my 30th next week and NYE, the countdown to baby is officially on! Let's do this :D

sandulacek · 24/12/2014 13:13

Happy Christmas eve everyone!

All presents wrapped here. Now to have a bit of lunch before going to the town to meet some friends...now which mocktail to have today...hmmmXmas Grin.

purpleteapig · 24/12/2014 13:59

Have a lovely Christmas everyone!
About to crack on with my gingerbread house...any minute now...just need to tear myself away from the cheesy Xmas films.

GeekyHybrid · 24/12/2014 15:21

34 week appointment went well, bump bang on 50th percentile again.
I'm feeling very torn now. On one hand Christmas has definitely started, I just had a late lunch watching Wallace & GromitGrin . On the other I've finished work, and whilst I'm knackered and looking forward to putting my feet up, I've got to admit to shedding a tear as I said goodbye to my greenhouse -all the plants in there will be planted out in the garden by the time I get back - and as I took a walk in the garden thinking how much I'd miss the place. Sad, I knowBlush
Merry Christmas everyone, I think my first action as a free woman will be a preparatory nap!

Memphisbelly · 24/12/2014 15:43

My appointment wait was 3 bloody hours! Got in and due to my bloods being all crazy high they have out me on blood thinning injections from tomorrow (merry christmas me) so minimum of 5 weeks could be up to 10 weeks of doing it, im very upset sbout it as I am wuite scared of injections and the thought of doing it myself worries me especially with my bump being so hard And having to do it in thr bottom of the bump.
We are almost ready for the man in red to come. Mum bought a £9 pannacotta from m and s as a treat for tomorrow I have explained I cannot be blamed if I eat it all (it is huge) tonight Grin

Hope you are all having a wonderful day

GeekyHybrid · 24/12/2014 16:07

Hugs memphis, that's a bit rubbish for Christmas, I think you deserve the panettone! If it all helps your bloods and thus baby then it's worth it, if annoying! Thanks Wine

WhyOWhyWouldYou · 24/12/2014 16:42

Memphis you have my sympathies - I was given injections to self administer for a week after DS was born, that was bad enough (must be really awful being pregnant and facing a couple of months of it) and I couldn't do it to myself either- DH had to.

Memphisbelly · 24/12/2014 18:28

Thanks both I know its all for the best just the first one I am dreading...may leave it until boxing day don't really want that as an xmas present tomorrowGrin
Ds is so excited and desperate to go to bed so santa can come quicker! He is going up soon and we have a curry ordered

JacktheLab · 24/12/2014 19:47

Merry christmas to you all when it comes tomorrow, hope you all have a lovely day :)

Memphis, hope you get on okay with your injections, Geeky I thoroughly recommend naps, been taking them at lunchtime for the last couple of days, is very civilised, Frenetic, glad to hear your good news about the new hospital :)

Got to finish up my Dad's xmas present and frame it before bed - argh!!!

sandulacek · 24/12/2014 21:46

Memphis good luck with the injections. I couldn't do it myself it would have to be my DH!

Ticktick · 24/12/2014 21:50

Sorry to hear you have to do injections memphis, I'm in that club too. Been doing daily fragmin injections since 12wks and have to continue till 6 wks after the birth! It does suck but strangely you do just get used to it. I've settled on doing mine first thing (7am) in the morning, as I'm still a bit sleepy to think about it too much and its out of the way then for the rest of the day. Aiming to inject in lower belly at the sides is the best place I have found... Though boobs are getting in the way of seeing what I'm doing now. Get bruises occasionally but its not too bad. Just think of your little bump and keeping him safe, that's what gets me through :) good luck X

Memphisbelly · 24/12/2014 22:05

Merry Christmas everybody! Have a good one.

First Xmas where son really understands what is going on, physically restraining kids from opening presents before daddy is even awake yet...

blankfornames · 26/12/2014 06:37

A belated Merry Chrimble to you all. hope you had a lovely day and that you are all being well looked after and spoiled as this pregnancy malarkey is no walk in the park!
Im still in the High Dependency Unit being monitored every two hours..which is quite annoying at night. i still need to use oxygen as i get breathless really easily but thankfully all talk of early sections and blood transfusions have been put to rest. We're both doing well and recovering nicely.
it's nearly January...which means that for most of us that we'll be having our Babas NEXT MONTH!!! Aghhh! Grin

JacktheLab · 26/12/2014 07:47

Oh Blank, bit rubbish that you are still in hospital, but I hope you had a nice day yesterday anyway?

BanglesSpangles · 26/12/2014 13:14

Happy late Christmas, one and all!

Hope you're ok, blank- how was Christmas 'on the inside'? Did you get any special treatment?

Had a pretty peaceful family Christmas up until about an hour ago, when i managed to slip from the top to the bottom of my mum's stairs. Thankfully fell back, so i went straight down on my bum the whole way so i think the baby's fine, but my goodness I'm going to be bruised- and very embarrassed as my whole family ran out to see what the noise was! Can't sit flat at the mo, so am perched gingerly on one bum cheek

blankfornames · 26/12/2014 14:08

Thanks Jack & Bangles. The staff were so lovely but at the end of the day hospital food is hospital food!
I'm in a room on my own so at least I have full control of the tv! Anyway how could i be bored with Bean inside to keep me company!
Hope you're having a nice Boxing Day!

Memphisbelly · 26/12/2014 14:25

Hope you are all having a lovely few days!

Blank glad you are keeping your spirits up and getting proper ish food, the mw I saw on xmas eve works every xmas day as she doesn't celebrate and said last year they got pre packed sandwhich boxes on thr maternity ward Shock my sister is a nurse and if you can drink on her ward they get lunch with all the trimmings and a port/wine.

Bangles....be careful! Now sit and let people look after you! Yesterday I underestimated how big I was and tried to fit in a small gap banging belly in front of whole family, sounded really loud but wasn't bad but had all my family fretting for rest of the day!

I had such a lovely day yesterday got some lovely gifts got a wash bag so now dont have things just dumped in my hospital bag! now waiting for sil and family to come for tea.

Regsrding my injection I am such a wimp I cannot face doing it still! My sister gave me one yesterday, she did it in my arm as she refused to do it in my belly saying it is not needed to go there and I freaked about it going in my leg ConfusedGrin im being a big baby!
