Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Memphis, I'd love a water birth. I've always been at my most comfortable in water, it feels like heaven for my hips! I was told straight out that only 'special requests' can use the pool at my local, and I wasn't going to qualify. I'm still so confused about birth, I thought I knew what I wanted, but haven't really been sat with someone willing to have an adult conversation with us. Hope this changes next week!

It's nearly 3am and I'm being kept awake by very lively baby... He's going to be a night owl isn't he!

Memphisbelly · 20/12/2014 07:44

Frenetic seems odd they would say no water if you are in least pain in water, lets hope this hospital talk to you like an adult through your options.
And my ds did follow the pattern he developed in my tummy once he was born so 3 am may be your baby party hpurs, my main wakeup is 10.30-midnight...when I am wanting to go to bed.

GeekyHybrid · 20/12/2014 08:17

Morning ladies. I've also heard that they continue their patterns from inside to outsideConfused So my darling will be active at 10pm as I'm trying to get to sleep, 4 am, and hyper from 6 'til 9 am. I'm predicting one grumpy mummy!

Frenetic your local lot sound awful, most birthing units / hospitals now have at least 2 pools and people are encouraged to exercise their choices. They all do here, and in quite a lot of other places all around the country my friends have had direct experience of! Maybe it would be worth dropping a line to the midwifery council, I know my friend who's a midwife in London would be horrified at such a restricted outlook.

GeekyHybrid · 20/12/2014 08:21

ps- tick even I wouldn't have gone for stretch mark cream and I'm the one who took the biggest bottle of calpol ever as pressie to a baby shower! My mate gets my humour and agreed it was very practical / useful, but I did appreciate that not everyone would be impressed!

BanglesSpangles · 20/12/2014 08:49

Morning all
i always think secret santa presents are a bit rubbish, tick- I'm sure there are plenty of others equally miffed with their gifts. I think the secre-ness of it means the giver just gets the 'that'll do' mentality - i know i do!

On the list for me today- floor grouting- it needs doing and ive heard good things about being on your hands and knees for getting babies the right way round!

I hope you're not offended by the stretch mark cream though tick, I'm sure it wasn't a personal statement about you but just a joke for a pregnant lady, secret Santa is often like that... And if it was given by someone who has never been pregnant they might not realise what a sensitive subject stretch marks can be.

For what it's worth my babies didn't follow their inside patterns of waking, and their patterns change so quickly anyway, you've just got used to one regime and they switch it all up on you.

WhyOWhyWouldYou · 20/12/2014 09:26

Just to reassure those of you with wriggly night babies, DS was terrible for waking me up/ keeping me up at night with his acrobatics in the womb but was actually a really good night sleeper (days were a nightmare though). So pattern in the womb won't necessarily reflect the reality once born.

Memphisbelly · 20/12/2014 09:43

my 4 yo still wakes for a wee at the time he woke in the womb

LittleMissSunshine33 · 20/12/2014 09:59

Thanks for the birthday messages! I woke up with a stinking cold :( wanted to go and have cuddles with my nephew who is 3 months now but can't risk giving him a cold for Christmas!

As for baby names I'm quite original really I like Scarlett or Jacob although my OH keeps coming up with new ones I think I'm going to wait til labour to discuss it surely he can't say no when I'm in pain Wink

Viperama · 20/12/2014 11:38

I like your tactics Littlemiss

GeekyHybrid · 20/12/2014 12:23

Thanks why and honey, gives me hope that I can 'train' the little so and so once it's on this side - it's literally kicking the **out of me at I type that!
bangles I've heard the same about being on your hands and knees hence tolerating bulb planting / weeding at work did seem to have benefits, baby was head down at 31w appointment.
Trying to decide whether to venture into town or not, I really don't have any comfy bras now and would appreciate them for Christmas, but not sure I can face the crowdsConfused

donkir · 20/12/2014 14:01

Geeky have you tried bra extenders? I went to get some new ones 2 weeks ago and the lady said it would be a waste of money as I'll need to go back at 38 weeks to be measured for after. My cup size was still fitting it was just the middle strap that was cutting me in two. Think I paid under £2 on Amazon for a pack of 3 extenders.

freneticfox · 20/12/2014 14:39

Ugh, I am so over Xmas already. Having to change plans AGAIN to make other people happy. So fed up of guilt trips.

Grinningcat · 20/12/2014 15:22

Unfortunately baby wasn't playing ball for the 3d scan and was fast asleep with an arm thrown up over his/her face. Cue me jumping up and down, wiggling, and doing all other sorts of movements, but all we got for our audience was a yawn. Annoying especially when the little so and do was up at half 3 this morning having a right proper go at my insides and knackering themselves out. We are having to go back after Xmas to try again, but I feel disappointed for my Dad. We will show him the Dvd if baby ever plays ball but it isn't the same. My back was killing me afterwards, but I'm now sat on the sofa and its eased off a bit.

GeekyHybrid · 20/12/2014 17:18

Thanks for the tip donkir. I've gone up a band and cup size. Treated myself to one comfortable bra! Hopefully I'll get to use it when coming down again. The problem is I only have either underwired padded or restrictive sports style (for work) and neither 'adapts' Sad I shall wait until 27th and get 1 or 2 more but I agree, pretty much a waste considering it's only 6 weeks until I'll need nursing ones Confused

Bummer on the scan grinning, yours sounds as belligerent as mine!!

freneticfox · 20/12/2014 17:23

I've gone up two band sizes and two clothes sizes and I'm not over eating at all :(

Feeling rather fat and miserable at the moment!

donkir · 20/12/2014 17:31

Frenetic I've also gone up 2 dress sizes, 1 band and 2 cup sizes. You'd think having bigger boobs would be great but they just sit rather uncomfy and sweaty on top of bump.

suzimagoozi · 20/12/2014 19:41

First time I've been able to post in a while. Any other teachers started their Mat Leave yet? Such a great start - new car delivered (haven't owned one since moving from Aus to London 3 yrs ago), trip to Ikea for nursery stuff and now can sit down to a roast dinner knowing that alarm is staying off permanently!!! Yahoo!! Grin
Was so over waking at 5 every morning - guess I'll find out what real pain is like when my replacement alarm arrives in 5 and a bit weeks Wink

Memphisbelly · 20/12/2014 19:51

Donkir mine were like than but its so much less sweaty now he has dropped, I now have a gap between bump and boobs for first time.

Frenetic try not to worry you will lose your weight gain, I did without doing much apart from going for a walk every day with buggy, you are growing your baby boy try and keep that in mind when you feel big.

Had day off work on mums orders today so went to a kids party where the food was amazing as it was catered and had a parent spread too. Then ds went cinema so we had an afternoon free so went to dunelm to get vouchers my mum wanted and ended up doubled over with pains again...cannot imagine another 5 weeks of feeling like my fanjo is being punched. Confused

Dh just ordered a chinese and I am working through my jobs list to do before the big Ho Ho Ho

Memphisbelly · 20/12/2014 21:15

Ugh just opened a letter that came today my cancelled hospital appointment has been remade for xmas eve.....traffic will be mental we will be going food shopping at 5am and I have trifles to make Grin

jenmcspen · 20/12/2014 21:30

memphis I have a monitoring appt at hospital on boxing day so I feel ur pain!

Memphisbelly · 20/12/2014 21:44

Jen ugh that is worse that xmas eve in my opinion! My mum said it may be quiet at the clinic (its usually way behind and mega busy) and I will get out quickly

jenmcspen · 20/12/2014 21:56

Luckily we will be at MIL's that day and she lives 2 mins from hospital so not too much of a hassle

Memphisbelly · 20/12/2014 22:03

Ah jenthats ok them, we live half an hour from this hospital and its right in the city center. Luckily my mum can have ds

GeekyHybrid · 20/12/2014 22:03

I've got mw appointment on Christmas eve but luckily it's at the local GP's surgery so shouldn't be too bad. Then into work for a couple of hours and then I'm free!
