Lawyer - Grace is our middle name choice as well. I'm still undecided for boys middle name. Another reason I think I'm having a boy lol!

A pic of my little ducks huge pout

I'm trying so hard not to wish away the time til February, because for one thing this is probably my last pregnancy so I should be enjoying it, grateful, thankful that I'm healthy etc etc... And also because i know that within about 24 hours of birth I'll be thinking 'damn, she was a lot easier to look after when she was on the inside'...

Honeybird · 19/12/2014 11:08

Those are some fantastic lips!!

BanglesSpangles · 19/12/2014 11:36

Back! Thanks for the hand holding, guys :)

First class service from the nhs, i must say- 2 hours after i first arrived at the midwife and I've been assessed at hospital, had a scan and been seen by a consultant with all being well.

Ridiculous that i knew in my head all along that the measurements are a really inaccurate way of knowing if there's something wrong, but have been totally shitting it for the last two hours! God knows what I'd be like I'd i had a real cause for concern!

han - it's still our fave and I think it'll have to be quite a sway to change our minds now to be honest ;)

Happy Birthday lancashire and littlemiss - forgot to add that before!

I can't wait to be 30. In the past two years we've lost my Dad, Granddad, one of my darling cats (to me that's a big deal!), had issues at work, had money stolen from us from 'friends'. So I'm VERY ready for things to go right for us for a change.

Argh, don't talk about it dragging, I was just thinking last night cub must've had a growth spurt because my skin feels particularly tight around my middle and the lower back pain has well and truly settled in. And there's still another 8 weeks to go! Still hoping next week's meeting with a new hospital team will bring good results. My old hospital were adamant that I could not have a water birth, wouldn't consider an ELCS and were very 'do it our way'.

I spoke briefly to a new midwife who was extremely understanding and said we'd have some proper discussions - and she alluded to the fact a water birth could be a possibility for me.

Grinningcat · 19/12/2014 12:18

Happy Birthday to [lancashire] and [littlemiss].

I will be 35 on Sunday. Sounds like there are a few of us around the same age.

A colleague said yesterday that I look like I've swallowed a bowling ball! Can't say he's far wrong though. 31 weeks tomorrow though so another 9 or so more weeks of growing.

donkir · 19/12/2014 14:05

33 weeks yesterday. Has anyone else got really sensitive skin? The top of my bump just under bra the skin is really sore it doesn't look red of dry. When I touch it, it feels like I've been sunburnt.

Memphisbelly · 19/12/2014 15:44

Donkir my skin is awful it was covered in sores early on and very painful but I have since changed my lotion to a diprobase so a dry skin cream and had to change all of my wash to sanex and non bio powder and stuff and it is a lot better now but it will be a boring xmas I normally get lovely lotions and potions for xmas and as im so down about not being about being able to use them I have asked not to recieve any at xmas

Memphisbelly · 19/12/2014 15:53

Frenetic so what are you going to request a water birth or a section? Our local hospital only has 2 water birth rooms. My exsil got offered a bath and then once the room had become free she was too far gone to go into it.

Bangles glad all is ok at least you got to see the baby again so that was a nice bonus!

Minichuch · 19/12/2014 16:21

Is anybody wanting / having a water birth? I'm quite tempted by one and really would like to not have an epi - I really don't like the thought of not being able to move around unless the hospital does a mobile epi then that may be an option

BanglesSpangles · 19/12/2014 17:01

totally memphis- it was a nice little treat, in a funny way!

mini I'm tossing up the idea at the mo- I like the idea but what with wanting a home birth, it'll mean hiring something in, which seems like a bit of a faff- I'm hoping I'd be able to get the early pain relief by staying in the bath, in what I'm sure will be my lovely lovely bathroom (Bro in law just rang to say we have a bath now but no toilet. So will have to pee in a bucket tonight)

Also, I kind of knew this was the case, but have definitely proven to myself that bananas cause me all kinds of digestive pain- Just ate one and literally about 3 minutes later, it feels like my eardrum has burst! The burning!!

Memphisbelly · 19/12/2014 17:04

Bangles step away from the bananas!

Mini it really doesn't appeal to me, I hate all water unless it is scorching hot and full of bubbles and as it can't be very warm it puts me off.....that and the poop net, dh wouldn't fancy chasing my poo around a pool with a net Grin my friend had a water birth at home and loved every minute (it also went a lot quicker than her first non water birth)

BanglesSpangles · 19/12/2014 17:08

It's OK, I am now eating a massive chocolate santa instead. Healthy eating is clearly not agreeing with me

Also, yes- the poop net. I'm not liking the idea of the poop net. Or the poop for that matter

mini I was in the water last time for a few hours until my temperature rose and they made me get out. It was SO nice being supported by the water and I was SO annoyed when they hauled me out. I'm asking to go in again this time. Definitely worth it to help avoid an epidural. In the end I was quite glad I have birth back on the table as very careful coaching from the midwife on when not to push meant I didn't tear at all. There is no research to back this up at all, but I have heard that if you stay in the water for the birth itself, and therefore don't have a midwife staring directly at the action, you are more likely to push too quickly and end up tearing. However I have also read that the water itself supports the perineum and all you need is a little reminder to breathe through at the right time. So (very) long story short I'm going for the water and then playing it by ear...

sandulacek · 19/12/2014 17:22

Happy birthday to all you birthday girls Flowers

donkir the top of the bump was very itchy yesterday but I recon it was the leggings I was wearing. It's ok now.

GeekyHybrid · 19/12/2014 18:23

I've managed to keep up with all the posts but have just been too tired to contribute. So glad to have made it to the end of this week, my last full one Grin Only 3 days left then ML Grin Grin
All the name talk is fascinating, we've got short lists for both but totally undecided.
And I'm definitely in the water birth camp if I can, my mate had such an easy one in the pool. I find out on 8th January whether I can or not, it all depends where things, including several large fibroids, have moved toConfused Fingers crossed.

jenmcspen · 19/12/2014 19:41

No water for me now I'm high risk. Not 100% sure I wanted one but is nice to have the option!
In good news my blood levels are falling, still high, but much better than they were.
Bad news was having a 2pm appt at the hospital and not being seen by a midwife until 3.45 was so bored!

Happy birthday to all our birthday girls Grin

Memphisbelly · 19/12/2014 19:45

Jen how are you maintaining weight? Is it still dropping or you managing to keep it on?

jenmcspen · 19/12/2014 19:54

Noone has actually weighed me since my booking in, and I don't have scales here so not sure at the mo. Have to check next time I am at mum's. if I were to guess id say im maintaining but not really putting on. is easier to eat now im not working. more time to graze! Grin

hanflan · 19/12/2014 20:24

donkir I've been getting that with my bump but right at the bottom! The other night the skin was so sore to touch, but also really itchy. The following morning I woke up to a set of brand new stretch marks there. Ouch! Must have been stretched to the max!
I'm hoping to have a water birth as long as I stay low risk. I love being in water and find baths so soothing so I'm hoping it will work well for me! We'll see.

PeppermintInfusion · 19/12/2014 20:30

This pg is starting to catch up with me Sad it was my first day WFH from home but my dad called to ask me to buy an Xmas present for my mum from him. The only chance I could get was to go this evening and I must have only walked a couple of miles but my hips and legs are absolutely killing me- I was hobbling back to the car!

Memphisbelly · 19/12/2014 21:19

jen well thats a plus if you think you are maintaining. my doc told me to up my carbs to help my keytone levels

Ticktick · 19/12/2014 22:27

Evening all, and happy birthday to all those December baby people ! There seems to be lots! I'm an avid reader of this forum but rarely get chance to contribute, plus it moves so fast!

Loving the name chat :) everyone has such good taste. The girls names are so pretty! We are having a boy and still not settled on a name, our short list is only Lester or Barney at the moment... Still not sure if we are sold on either though. Still trawling baby name lists.

So, it was secret Santa day in work today and one of my colleagues decided to buy me a load of stretch mark cream as a present. I was mortified Xmas Blush, anyone else think this offensive?

Viperama · 19/12/2014 23:05

Tick I think there's definitely more clever and less negative things someone can gift an expectant mom. Unless it's a top of the range cream that they know works??
