Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
jenmcspen · 15/12/2014 19:32

As I am now deemed to be high risk, I am going to have constant monitoring, which means def no water, and sadly not the active labour I had hoped for.

BanglesSpangles · 15/12/2014 19:59

Jen, feel free it ignore if it sounds a bit wafty-woo, but ive just got to the fear release bit of my hypnobirthing course- if you google hypnobirthing fear release, theres an audio track you can listen to on youtube.

Might go listen to my one again now actually!

Jen I had a mobile epidural is wonderful I seriously wouldn't of had another child without one. So many people say they don't hardly see the mw but if you have a mobile epidural one stays with you constantly, just sitting out of the way mine chatted when I spoke to her but didn't get in the way just whenever I wanted to top up epidural (max every 40 mins) she checked bp then I could press button. I could still move my legs, feel fluid if it leaked out and felt the pressure to push and felt contractions just not the pain. Was wonderful as I still felt in control. I was also back on my feet in 40 mins (although a tad wobbly)

Im getting pains again tonight, although I am majorly stressing out, thought I was so organised but I dont seem to be now, dh been up in loft to get crib and stuff out, there is so much crap, moses basket, crib, carrycot, second pushchair, baby bath, travel basinette (going to mums) things are getting damp up there so need to be out to be cleaned but my house is now full of stuff and I want to cry! Mum is going to take all the sheets, blankets and newborn stuff to wash and tumble so its done and out the way. Need to start fsrming out xmas presents to make room as we have already recieved some gifts

jenmcspen · 15/12/2014 21:01

bangles I am willing to give anything a go Grin

memphis will definitely ask about mobile epi tomorrow. it hasn't been mentioned as an option so far so hope my hospital do it!
I know how u feel about stuff everywhere too - my house is chaos! Part of the reason I am stresses out. keep muttering about how I should still have weeks to get things sorted but now don't! Bloody liver! lol!

Memphisbelly · 15/12/2014 21:07

It is the only epi they offer at mine but then the line is in if they need to go full block for any reason. I dodn't realise I has scoliosis of the spine until today when they told me it was on my notes from last epi!
Oh yes Jen the we have loads of time thing is annoying, I cannot crouch or bend down long enough to achieve anything as I have no room to move. Dh said we are ticking things off but then I see more that needs doing...ongoing circle and before I know it santa will be on his way and I will be exhausted before xmas day starts

Grinningcat · 15/12/2014 21:25

Thank you for your good wishes. Dad is getting better, but he doesn't like to slow down and take proper care of himself. He also refuses to adapt the house so he can make things easier for himself.

The tommee tippee steriliser we ordered as a lighting deal on Amazon arrived today. Only £26 with some bottles, brush etc included so that is a few things ticked off our list of remaining things to get.

Whooping cough vaccine booked for tomorrow morning. Yay!

Honeybird · 15/12/2014 23:09

jen obviously if you have that early epidural then this doesn't apply, but you should double check about being in the water. My hospital now has waterproof monitoring, and even if yours doesn't you may be able to push for some time in the water and intermittent monitoring. Being in the water can help so much with the pain and avoiding an epidural can stop that slippery slope of intervention... My epidural with my first is highly likely to have contributed to ending up with a cesarean so I may be biased.

Viperama · 16/12/2014 00:15

Purple, yup 3 weeks with mil! Like yours, mines a sweetie. DP's Italian and she wants to spend time with us before baby arrives, and any company is good being on bedrest. normally I'd go nuts but I think it's better to have some time with them now to connect before arrival. FIL arrives 21 for two weeks, found out yesterday his uncle and wife have now booked for 4 nights and will stay locally. FFs, talk about an invasion.
I get stitch out w/c 12th, so will only a week to decompress before.
Sweet they are all so excited though

You told a 14 year old you loved them and wished you could have sex with them? If I have read that right then I am glad you will not be returning because I would rather not share an antenatal thread with a Paedophile. If you yourself are only 14 though I take all of that back.

sandulacek · 16/12/2014 08:24

Wow anyone else confused about the post?!?

jenmcspen · 16/12/2014 08:25

Yes sand I was just thinking whhaaaaatt!!!??? Hmm Confused Hmm

Honeybird · 16/12/2014 09:03

Think her account might have been hacked or maybe somebody is playing a 'joke' on her with her phone?? Looking back she has always sounded quite sensible in previous posts... and with better grammar...

JacktheLab · 16/12/2014 09:04

Yes, I was wondering, plus it was written at 4,30am...

LancashireTea · 16/12/2014 09:12

It is probably a hacking or trolling job. Either way, not cool Ladybros...

Back to La Hospital again today (am so bloody sick of the place) for a growth scan following my GD diagnosis last week. My bloods are fine during the day but no matter what I eat (or don't and then nearly fall over with dizziness) in the morning they rocket to ridiculous levels. In fact my ones from last night were the same when i got up today (I had an early night after dinner so that might not have helped).

Also off to the MW this morning, so have the full day off! Woo! Must remember to try and book my WC jab for after xmas.

I think work are getting irritated by my absence, esp at this time of year when enough folk are off for trips or general sickness through exhaustion because our Head likes to work people till they break! On Friday there were 12 people off! Its crazy! And then he tells us he will be monitoring lessons this week because he wants the students working till the last day and then we can do alternative work! Knobber.

donkir · 16/12/2014 09:26

I saw that message first thing this morning but didn't know what to say. Things you've summed it up perfectly.

I hope the hospital goes well for you and there's not too much hanging around.

BanglesSpangles · 16/12/2014 10:25

yeah, i was really confused over that message too! I thought she meant she was 14... hmmm

Currently no bathroom in the bangles household- we have a bucket, a hosepipe and a toilet pan (with a seat, obv!!). It's currently quite novel flushing the loo with the bucket of water, and brushing your teeth in the kitchen, but i think I'll be well over it by Thursday

OP posts:
jenmcspen · 16/12/2014 11:14

Bangles I can totally sympathise with the lack of bathroom situation! Luckily ours is back in action now Grin

purpleteapig · 16/12/2014 11:46

Aw, I can't see her email as it's been deleted. My curiosity has been piqued now!

Don't worry about work, Lancs - your health is more important and they can just lump it. Hope you get your bathroom back soon Bangles.

Viper - good luck with all the relatives- at least they can run errands for you & be useful! :)

Grinningcat · 16/12/2014 12:16

Had a meltdown this morning although as I'm working from home it was thankfully in private. A colleague suggested that I ring around and make an action plan for arranging my own cover which quite simply I don't have the time or energy to do. My other colleague rang me shortly afterwards to reassure me that I should be winding down and not doing this and that I shouldn't stress about it and that it is for our line manager to sort out. As he put it - I should be moving towards being more horizontal and less vertical in the coming weeks. Bless him.

Whooping cough jab this morning was fine, but my arm does feel like I have been punched.

My PIL are great too. At the moment they are being more sympathetic to me than my own family. Obviously Dad is ill, but I am having to protect myself from other family asking too much. I have 3 brothers and sisters for goodness sake. My DBro and SIL are doing tons for Dad, but can't my sisters pull their fingers out a bit more!

Sorry about the slightly more whingey post than usual, but had to get that off my chest!

LancashireTea · 16/12/2014 12:33

Mw appointment was a huge waste of time. She said because I see the diabetes mw then I don't need to be seen there. WhiCheers I'm sure contradicts my consultant. I'm also worried that I've then missed a big 28w thing but she said my diabetes mw will deal with all of that in Thursday. I'm bloody confused.

jenmcspen · 16/12/2014 13:18

Lancashire it is so frustrating when you get mixed messages from different doctors and midwives. Hopefully at ur next appt things will be better.
In good news, consultant appt went well and they are happy for me to be induced at 38 weeks instead of the 37 that was mentioned so I will be going into hospital on the 16th unless anything changes before then. Eek!

thingsarelookingup · 16/12/2014 13:28

I'm so glad you have all suggested that was a troll/account hack this morning because that post really got to me. I felt a little bad that my first post after 2 weeks was not very pleasant but I just couldn't leave it.

We have been so busy the last couple of weeks with my DH working 80 hour weeks, builders in painting and decorating along with my normal full time work and toddler wrangling at 7 months pregnant and it just got too much for me.

Only a few days to Christmas break now and I'm feeling a lot better. It sounds like a few of us are finding it hard to manage the expectation that you carry on as normal while pregnant with the reality that sometimes you just can't.

JacktheLab · 16/12/2014 19:34

Things it was a very strange message, but I don't think your reply was uncalled for :)

I'm finding it hard being so pregnant and the busyness of Xmas, really looking forward to Monday and having the house to myself, I foresee a lunchtime nap ;)

BanglesSpangles · 16/12/2014 19:40

Arseburgers, i really really need to finish my Christmas shopping but my back has decided to play up. Have had to give up and go home (to my dirty, bathroomless house). On the plus side i have chocolate pretzels, so every cloud and all that
