jen NHS advice is to do them throughout pregnancy, so I've always done them - infact ive not stopped doing them since i was pregnant with DS a few years ago. Pregnancy can knacker your pelvic floor as much as pushing a baby out - even if you ended up with a c section you could find your left with really weak muscles down there. The weaker they are the harder it is to actually do proper pelvic floor exercises and build it back up.

Plus good muscle tone shouldn't stop things stretching at all, it should just help it "spring" back after.

blankfornames · 14/12/2014 13:08

Thanks ladies. Thanks for the support. Was fine up until i went to bed, then it really hit me. Then I felt guilty as i could feel this baby jigging around.

Anyway, that's really interesting about the pelvic floors. Last thing we want to do is tighten things too much before next Feb!

We bought our first baby grow yday. Still debating between the Bugaboo and the Uppa Baby Vista. Any advice?!

freneticfox · 14/12/2014 14:36

Hugs for you blank, sorry I missed your post yesterday. Been MIA for a couple of days, didn't feel poorly after my WC jab, but it did knock me out for most of Friday.

Been working on our nursery this weekend, even though there's every chance we'll have moved by the time little one is in his own room. Still, it's lovely to have a space for his bits and pieces, and I feel quite nesty!

BanglesSpangles · 14/12/2014 16:59

I did wonder if it was possible to over-do it on the pelvic floor exercise front- if ive done them for more than a few days on the bounce, i find i have to kind of push my wees out- there was a line in 'dinnerladies' about someone having a pelvic floor like a bulldog clip, which seems to sum it up!

Blank- we went for a vista- i cant even remember the reason now, but i did have a spreadsheet of the pros and cons of about 20 different types, so it mustve been good to top our list!

Christmas presents aaaalmost bought. Guess I better start wrapping

My pelvic floor is rock solid I can hold my pee for hours if needed but my problem is baby is so low I think my bladder is empty then once I move (could be ages after I wee) he will shift and a bit comes out Blush

I am pretty sure he is head down now the movements are mainly at the top near boobs but when I feel that it is like a glinding feeling in my pelvis too, scan tomorrow so will find out then for sure.

I have done 2 coats on my bedroom wall to move the bed around now to make room for the baby crib hoping I can manage it tonight but I am shattered. We got a few more presents today and went to see Santa. It was in a room with 8 other kids and parents, santa and mrs clause and thry sung songs, was lovely but baby was rocking out to the carols Grin

Memphisbelly · 14/12/2014 20:45

sandulacek · 14/12/2014 20:56

Hi, hope everyone had a good weekend. We saw few friends for dinner/ lunch. I know it's the Christmasy thing but subconsciously we are probably trying to see as many friends as possible in the restros before missy arrives Smile.

blank hope you are feeling better today. Flowers. We went for bugaboo because we just liked it. Sorry that it's not v helpful.

Result, we got more things from one of our friends as they don't plan any more kids...so now we have a moses basket for our bedroom AND downstairs!

purpleteapig · 14/12/2014 22:01

Hope everyone's had a nice relaxing weekend!

My 2yr old made me chuckle this morning: over breakfast he suddenly said 'mummy's got a baby in her tummy' and I was like 'that's right - your baby brother', thinking great, he's starting to get it. Then he stared at my stomach and said very seriously: 'you not eat me too, mummy.' We attempted to reassure him whilst trying not to laugh!

Memphisbelly · 14/12/2014 22:28

Purple that is so funny! Grin

Viperama · 15/12/2014 01:17

Thanks for feedback ladies. Happy to say leakage is discharge rather than wee. I've been doing pelvic floor daily.

Busy weekend, mil arrived for three week stay, doula session today, then 7 mates came over for tea. Now exhausted!

Hope you all has a great weekend xx

purpleteapig · 15/12/2014 10:22

Your MIL is staying for 3 weeks, Viper?! I get a bit antsy with mine (even though she's very sweet) after 3 days!

I've definitely gone wrong somewhere with my communication to my toddler about the new baby. This morning he was talking again about me having eaten it, and then pointed to his stomach and said he could 'eat the baby' too. Hmmm...Confused

WhyOWhyWouldYou · 15/12/2014 10:34

purple oh dear! I suppose its very logical that if mummy has a baby in her tummy, she must have eaten it. Hope you can find a way to straighten that out.

Touching lots of wood here, DS seems to understand reasonably well. He's also got a new book (Pirate Pete's - I'm a new big brother), which is currently his favourite. I'm hoping he doesnt get confused.

BanglesSpangles · 15/12/2014 11:54

my nephew (aged 3) had exactly the same conversation with my sister- totally matter of fact comment over breakfast one morning 'Bangles ate a baby and now it's in her tummy' Tee hee

The lo I look after was 2 at the end of October and constantly refers to my tummy as cake.

Nearly 33 weeks and really starting to slow down now. Think baby is head down as kept getting sharp pain really low down yesterday. Seems to have eased off today thank goodness. Lots of kicks higher up. Seems ages since I've had a check up. Next one the week after xmas.

I'm constantly tired but really struggling with sleep once I get up for a wee.

Anyone else's body thermostat set at constantly boiling. -1 and I'm doing school run without a coat.

Memphis ive also had wee leakage. Got an app on my phone to remind me about pelvic floor exercises. Didn't help much as whenever it went off I was busy doing something else so would just switch it off.

Grinningcat · 15/12/2014 12:27

I am exhausted today. I even slept through the night, but still knackered today. Thankfully I have a flexi day today so it is resting on the sofa and wrapping presents for me today, although I have to run over to DAunts house later to collect presents that I can pass over to Dad at the weekend. Dad unfortunately has a chest infection which at 87 is no joke so we are all trying to rally round, but I am just not able to do as much as I would normally. Almost got a lecture from DAunt last evening about us kids not taking care of him and how he wouldn't be able to come to our private scan on Saturday coming. "Yes we know which is why if he feels up to it we will drive over and get him and take him back"... DBro's attitude was she can butt out and stop telling us what we are already doing. Doesn't help that Dad is a stubborn old goat who will do what he bloody well wants. He is getting over the chest infection, but at 87 it takes longer and he gets cabin fever if he stays in the house too much.

Minichuch · 15/12/2014 14:40

I'm also tired today, dh fell asleep on sofa and came to bed at 3.30 promptly waking me up, no lie in as had to go for gtt - which meant 3.5 hrs in hospital as they couldn't get any veins for blood then back to work until 5 tonight - flip side work till Friday then got 2 weeks off work for Christmas

Memphisbelly · 15/12/2014 16:16

Grinning must be hard with your dad remember to look after yourself too though. Hope he is on the mend asap.

Went hospital for my scan and consultant today put puc on fb, consultant last week said come in at 3 mins apart this one said come in as soon as they are regular even if they are 10 mins apart! Last time I was shopping in tesco at 7 mins apart so won't be going in that early!
My mum came to the scan and was facinated it was so clear and we could see him blinking. Then we went xmas shopping, wore shoes without my arches in and my feet kill now.

jenmcspen · 15/12/2014 16:23

Having a bit of a wobbly day today after my mw appt. she is lovely but trying to prepare me realistically for what early induction can be like.
Then there is the fact that no one single room in my house is sorted, most r in the middle of being redecorated.
Feeling stressed Sad

Hope yr dad is okay grinning

Memphisbelly · 15/12/2014 16:28

Jen what sid she say thats given you a wobble? Hope you are ok

jenmcspen · 15/12/2014 16:47

I don't think it is just the mw appt that has made we wobble, it just hasn't helped. My OH is concerned as I have a history of depression (was last very poorly at the beginning of the year so all a bit fresh for him) and I guess sometimes I feel like I have to hold it all together and show that I am coping even when it is okay to be worried and stressed.

I think the realisation that baby is coming early and that the induction is likely to be both long and painful with constant monitoring and the likelyhood of lots of intervention is making me worry. I knew that's what induction at 37 weeks could be like, but think I was trying not to think about it too much. My MW basically said that obv no labour is exactly easy, but I have a few things stacked against me which may well make mine harder.

It doesn't help that my hospital care has been a bit all over the place, with no proper answers about my care plan, going in for scans that then dont happen etc. I feel like each person I see is individually very nice, but things dont follow on from where they were left if that makes sense.

Am seeing the consultant tomorrow so hopefully may feel a bit better after that. My MW is a bit appalled that the hospital still havent got a proper care plan in place for me and she is chasing blood results that the hospital should have got sorted.

Sorry for the epic post! Think I prob just need a good cry to get it out of my system and then will be okay!

Memphisbelly · 15/12/2014 17:01

Jen don't say sorry this is what we are here for to vent ect too. She is right induction can be long....but it can also be quick. A lot of people don't get any feeling from the first pessary so for first 24 hours they just read and rest etc then it gets moving after first stage. Try not to worry about the unknown. I know it is really hard not too. I had ante natal depression and pnd last time, I am not worrying like I did last time, the midwives in the hospital really will be fantastic.
You will do really well, trust yourself and your body amd come on here and vent whenever you need to.

In regards to your OH mine is worrying more about me this time.....it is their jobs to worry. My biggest worry is if I needed a c section dh would take 3 weeks off.....I would kill him as ds would be at school so he would go stir crazy Grin

JacktheLab · 15/12/2014 18:56

Jen, try not to worry, I was induced at 38 weeks and a bit with my son, I had no frame of reference to know whether it was fast or painful or anything, as it was my first baby, but it was the means to the end, which was getting the baby out!

Have you thought about pain relief, I know a lot of women want to try to give birth naturally, but for me an epidural was brilliant!

Don't think about venting etc, there are a fair number of second time mums here, so we can do our best all of us, to give advice and be available to listen and commiserate if needed.

Had my flu jab and whooping cough jab today, feeling tired now!

jenmcspen · 15/12/2014 19:05

jack my midwife basically said if I want to minimise my risk of maternal exhaustion and a c section then I should ask for an epidural and ask for one early! lol!

JacktheLab · 15/12/2014 19:19

Honestly they are lovely :)

I think if you are going to have one they recommend getting it placed earlish even if you start using for a while.

I have a friend who had amazing results from hypnobirthing and others who loved the pool, so theres plenty of options

blankfornames · 15/12/2014 19:19

Grinning, sorry to hear your Dad is unwell. Hope he's on the mend soon.

Jen, all very entitled to our wobblies! It's good to be able to say how we really feel on here.

Memphis, how you feeling now?
