Yawn, yawn and a bit more yawning. I'm normally in bed by now but still at work babysitting. Boss has said I can doze on sofa but it feels so wrong when I'm meant to be working.

Memphisbelly · 12/12/2014 22:36

Donkir if children are asleep just rest you have had a long day.

JacktheLab · 12/12/2014 22:48

I saw Memphis! What a lot of hair, ds had a fair amount when he was born, but went a bit baldy after that.

Btw we have a facebook group for sharing photos, if anyone wants to be added just pm me or frenetic or Memphis with your email address and we can send an email invite to the group.

Donkir, do you know when your boss is due back? I don't think there's anything wrong with having a snooze if you need it, especially if they aren't due back for hours.

Memphisbelly · 12/12/2014 22:51

I know jack, his brother was born with blond short hair, he is 14 months and his hair isnt this long!

donkir · 13/12/2014 08:21

Luckily boss wasn't enjoying her xmas do (cocktail making when your driving, I can't blame her) so was home earlier than planned.
Didn't realise how much baby moved at night. He was still going crazy at midnight. I'm normally asleep so don't feel it.

WhyOWhyWouldYou · 13/12/2014 12:31

I thought I'd share a tip I was given in my first pregnancy to help settle baby. I swear it helped DS a lot and greatly contributed to him being a good night sleeper. It needs preparing around now to work.

Get a teddy in your bed now, so that when baby comes along the teddy will smell of mum (and dad if you have a dp). This teddy stays with them when they are little (especially when they are sleeping or when upset, even with you soothing them) and by the time they can grab and pull things closer to them teddy should be a well established comforter. With DS this meant when he started to wake up a bit in the night, he'd actually pull teddy in closer and resettle himself, unless there was an actual problem. Even before he could pull teddy closer, we noticed hed start to become unsettled, turn his head towards teddy and drift back into a deeper sleep. Also helped him settle to sleep easier in the first place. Severe silent reflux made DS worse in the day but even then teddy really seemed to help from quite a young age.

The person who told me to do this had had 3 great night sleepers and had been told it by someone else who had had good night sleepers. I really do think it helps.

Oh and I actually did it with 2 identical teddies and swapped both around daily in the early days, then weekly, then every couple of weeks as he got older. This was so that if I ever lost one, the other would still be identical (the person who had given me this tip had a hellish night once when teddy got left behind in the supermarket and it had shut before they realised. Their child knew the difference between the identical but never used spare teddy and their normal teddy).

Hi everyone, nice to catch up on everyone's whilst enjoying a very quiet weekend with both girls away at their grandparent's for a sleepover! Been wrapping etc this morning.

Sorry to hear about those with lots of challenges going on of all different sorts. But agree that it's good to have a place where we can say how we actually feel!! And hopefully be supportive to one another! Xmas Smile

Good to hear from those with good scan news for them and other babies they know too...must be a major relief!

WhyO I rather like the sound of your tip! Might just try it! Had one great sleeper and one not so have no expectations for number three!

Hope everyone has a good weekend

GeekyHybrid · 13/12/2014 13:47

I've just about been keeping up with all your news and I finally I have the energy to post myself! Whilst I haven't got the killer heartburn of some of you I've definitely got indigestion which combined with 'little sod' sitting awkwardly has left me feeling quite nauseous at times :-/ This week wiped me out, mostly due to the staff Christmas party on Wednesday night. I managed to last until 10.30 but boy did it do me in.

We're now sat around waiting for our carpet delivery / fitting. It took until 9pm last night to put up the blind and curtain pole, tidy the decorating stuff and tools away then do a final clean of the room so that it was all ready. Luckily this morning I decided I'd go out to do a load of errands anyway especially taking old knackered hoover that spits out dust to the tip and collecting a new one. Cos if I hadn't I'd be really annoyed at the waiting around. Until the carpet's down, us and our stuff are back in our room, spare room is freed up and so on I can't really sort and clean the rest of the house out which is what I now want to get on with. Hey ho. We've got most of tomorrow.

I hope everyone is having a good weekend. What with Christmas now being so close and realising that the festive period essentially takes out two weeks of 'useful' time, it really does feel like there's very little time until our babies are actually here. Anyone else feeling like it's all getting close?!

blankfornames · 13/12/2014 15:05

Hi ladies, feeling a little blue today. Today was my due date for the miscarriage i had in April. I'm away with inlaws for weekend so don't want to let it get me down in front of them. Had to achknowledge our first little sleeping Bean!
Sorry for the sad post! I'm know I'm blessed to be 30 weeks with this Bean!

blankfornames · 13/12/2014 15:14

P.s..WhyOhWhy, stop being so hard on yourself! Being pregnant is hard so be kind to yourself!!

WhyOWhyWouldYou · 13/12/2014 17:35

I'm actually feeling a lot more positive and relaxed today. I think it helps that DH's new boss confirmed, yesterday afternoon, its fine for his annual leave years to be merged to allow him to have enough entitlement to take the 2weeks a/l after pat leave. And my mom is going to come for 2weeks following that, hopefully by the time she leaves i'll feel in control enough not to feel like I'm drowning like I did when DH went back to work, when D's was 4weeks, last time and I ended up with PND.

I've been ordering things we still need. Plus things are starting to get more organised at home, we've even built the cot up!

I'm going to start Christmas wrapping tonight and am getting quite excited about DS's presents - Christmas is so much fun with a toddler.

JacktheLab · 13/12/2014 18:08

Blank, much love, try to be kind to yourself today x

Ds has been baking with me this afternoon, oh dear he made up a mix of sugar, flour and water and ate it! Bleurgh! He's been a hit loopy since!

Only six and a bit weeks left, time is def running away with me now, but I'm focusing on getting next week and then Xmas over and then will think about organising!

BanglesSpangles · 13/12/2014 18:10

Hugs for you blank

Just been to watch hubby play what will likely be his last rugby game- he starts his new job in january, and will be working on saturdays. Feeling quite sad for him- its the end of an era!

Consequently, im now at home with a ready meal, profiteroles and strictly (whoop whoop) and he's off out for a few drinks- not expecting him to be much use in the morning Xmas Grin

Boank thinking of you and your bean today.

Jack I am due 27th so its same for me, I feel a bit like its flying and part of me like it is dragging.

WhyO glad you are feeling better today when you have a productive day it seems to clear your head a bit I find.

Been at work today, dh has gone out, ds is at mums and we have just got the pushchair and carseat out the loft so I can wash all the covers and oil it/pump tyres up etc and I am going out soon but I want to stay in and play with the pushchair Grin

WhyOWhyWouldYou · 13/12/2014 18:36

Oh my goodness, blank somehow I missed your post. Flowers its hard to loose a bean and those key dates are awful. Hope your OK. Hugs.

GeekyHybrid · 13/12/2014 20:40

Murphy's law rules! Had cleaned the kitchen, including using the new steam mop on the floor. We looked at each other - still no carpet fitter. So OH suggested he put the kettle on. I put my rubber gloves on thinking '2 mins whilst he makes the tea and I'll clean the downstairs loo. Next thing OH yells "it's worked, kettles not even boiled and he's here!"

We're now back in our room :-D FIL came around to help move wardrobes and mattress, we've put the curtains up and now we just need to sort the spare room and nursery out by February!

Hugs to you blank, and glad you had a better day why. Let's face it, it's one of the reasons we're all here - to be able to be honest about pregnancy not being all that easy, and to be sympathetic ears for each other. We'll get there, bit by bit.

jenmcspen · 13/12/2014 21:52

Have just found out my cousin has miscarried at 10 weeks Sad so sad for her. Hugs for your lost bean too blank

Memphisbelly · 13/12/2014 22:42

Geeky ah glad you are getting sorted!

Jen thats so sad for your cousin Sad

Well I got all dressed up and make up on and started getting palpatations so had to stay in Sad this pregnancy I have really missed my friends, I feel so tired I never seen much of them they used to pop over to see me when dh is away but this last few months I make excuses due to being shattered.

But I finished my wrapping I just need to buy 3 things now, going to see santa tomorrow afternoon, hoping dh wont be hungover to hell

Viperama · 14/12/2014 00:13

Hi Ladies

Shouting out a massive TMI alert...

I've noticed in the last 10 days or so ligament and joints loosening. Literal pain in the butt/hips but I'm sure this is all normal from what I've read... baby's got to come out and this all helps open things up.

I've also noticed no let up in 'excretions' but nowadays, sometimes as I shift position whilst sitting air escapes out 'the front' and just now as I sat down to go pee it was rather loud, and again when I finished.

Is it normal for air to be getting trapped up there and coming out? Is anyone experiencing the same? I'm worried others will hear!!

Memphisbelly · 14/12/2014 06:55

Viper I haven't had this problem...mine is moving position and leaking a bit of weeBlush

So I am alone in the house meaning bed to myself and a lie in.....so why the jeff have I been up since 4.30am?

jenmcspen · 14/12/2014 08:00

Not one of the random pregnancy symptoms I've had the (dis)pleasure of yet viper

I've been up for hours too memphis does my body and bump not know it's a sunday!

BanglesSpangles · 14/12/2014 09:03

Viper, i can remember reading a lengthy (and hilarious) thread about this on mn a while back, so youre definitely not the only one!

Hitting the shops today to try and get my christmas shopping finished- had a count up and we have 22 people to buy for. Twenty-flipping-two! Going to have to do some epic wrapping tonight

OP posts:
WhyOWhyWouldYou · 14/12/2014 10:19

Viper it happened to me for a little while after DS. I was told that like wee leakage its a sign your pelvic floor needs strengthening up. So keep doing lots of pelvic floor exercises and hopefully it'll stop.

Memphis - sorry you missed your night out. That's really rubbish.

GeekyHybrid · 14/12/2014 11:35

I'm not boasting but I think it's a sign of how knackered I got this week, I slept through until 8am both mornings this weekend! Makes up for Thursday / Friday when I was awake from 3 til 5amSad
And thanks for the reminders about pelvic floor exercises, better thinking about it now than next time I sneeze Shock

jenmcspen · 14/12/2014 11:43

This may be a bit contraversial, but the lady who did our NCT classes said not to do too many pelvic floor exercises before baby as you don't want things to be too 'tight' during labour Confused she recommended doing a little before and then ramping it up after birth as anything you do before will be made redundant by pushing baby out anyways.

So I have been totally neglecting my pelvic floor exercises! Blush
