mini the Ergo 360 also allows forward facing. My DD also loved it

BonjourMinou · 11/12/2014 13:47

Hi minipie Yes, I second drinking something cold and lying down. I was worried about DD not moving last pregnancy, when I got to the hospital, they gave me a cold glass of water and put me on the monitor. And off she went!

Then they told me off for not drinking enough...

BonjourMinou · 11/12/2014 13:48

Oh and you can always do a back carry with any buckles carrier and then baby can forward face? The ring sling I'm getting for Christmas you can also do hip carries in Smile

Siarie · 11/12/2014 13:55

I think the Stokke carrier does forward facing. But to be honest as long as they are comfy I don't mind.

My back isn't very strong so I won't be using it. Mostly just for my DH as he really likes the idea of carrying the baby around in one.

Those who have dizziness and headaches. It's expected at this time, it due to blood pressure changes (your levels will look fine) but blood mass has increased in % overall. If you had headaches or migraines pre pregnancy you may find you get them worse now. I've actually only had one migraine but lots of sinus pressure headaches myself.

But yes, dizziness, breatheless are all part of pregnancy. Obviously get your levels checked if you are worried as iron deficiencies and low blood pressure can also cause these things.

I personally have iron supplements anyway as I don't eat meat and I have a home blood pressure monitor (had to buy one when I was on the pill).

I recommend you check out "what to expect when you're expecting" which you can buy in kindle format or paper as it covers each week. It really helps with understanding what symptoms you might get each month and why.

daholster · 11/12/2014 13:58

minipie I third the ice cold drink, something to eat, and lie down and wait... If no movement in 30 mins then I'd ring. I went in I think 3 or 4 times for movements last time, they always said they'd rather check. At 23 weeks although you are worrying that they couldn't deliver her, there could be something easily correctable that would help her feel better if she is a bit poorly eg hydrate you, treat any underlying infections you aren't aware of, treat anaemia you aren't aware of etc so its definitely worth it. Usually though there is nothing wrong and they wake up with a drink! My dd worried everyone by being slow and quiet at about 33 weeks despite being plied with cold drinks and toast. They were just coming to check more often and doing umm ahh noises when at 2 hours I had a cup of tea and she suddenly started bouncing around like a cricket!!! Little monkey. Hugs, let us know if she wakes up a bit! Flowers

Minipie, I tend to have days where bump is very quiet and the day after seems fine and back to normal. (normally I feel barely anything at the weekend but loads during the week) Perhaps when they are quiet their back is at the front so your not feeling the kicks as much if they are kicking your back/insides or they are a bit sleepy those days as they are having a growth spurt.

I don't think there is much they would do at this stage if they are in distress. It's too soon for interference.

Ring the mw if it continues, but I suspect they will just tell you its normal.

TinyTear · 11/12/2014 14:35

I heard they only pay more attention to the kicks after week 24

www.countthekicks.org.uk/mums/your-babys-movements/

I think mine has changed position as i feel the kicks more now really really low down and inside my body (ow)

FreedomHuntress · 11/12/2014 14:36

Thank you thank you thank you to all those with the drink a cold drink and lay down for a kick advice. Have been a bit anxious as I've not had much movement, just tried it, and BOOM! Phew!
I'm later on than many of you (20+3) but still, feel I should be getting more prods than I have. But I didn't really feel much at my scan, and she was busy as a bee in there then, so maybe I just have a thick belly!

smogsville · 11/12/2014 14:41

Minipie - eat a few mince pies and lie down. Worked a treat for me on Sunday. I would have called mw on Monday if I hadn't felt anything so it might put your mind at rest. Let us know how you get on.

Siarie · 11/12/2014 14:53

Grin I didn't feel anything for two days after my flight. Then I started eating desserts here and I've felt her move all the time now.

20+3 as well

Rustyzilla · 11/12/2014 15:10

mini I had this problem myself at the start of the week, am 23+2. I was worried so called hospital, midwife advised I lay on my left side and drink ice water and monitor movement for 2 hours. I did get movement but in the end what got baby moving like crazy was a mince pie! Don't be afraid to call MW or hospital though, they assured me I'd done the right thing by calling.

catsofa I have just bought massive pants from primark, £2.50 for a pack of 4. Just size up to accommodate your bump!

Um not on me but maybe I just have a huge arse

Rustyzilla · 11/12/2014 15:32

I guess it depends how much booty you have! The ones I bought can go right over my belly button, they are not attractive but they are so comfy! Haven't noticed baggy bum being an issue but then I'm more Beyonce than Twiggy even when not pregnant! Xmas Grin

minipie · 11/12/2014 15:32

Thanks everyone for the advice! I have had a coffee and sat still for a while (hard to lie down as I'm in the office!!) and she seems to have perked up a fair bit Smile Smile so am feeling reassured.

Still not quite as strong feeling as the weekend but could be because of a different position, I have an anterior placenta so guess that means in some positions she would just be kicking the placenta.

bonjour and daholster I didn't realise dehydration could be an issue, I am really bad about drinking enough so will try to drink more (water that is!). Also I was quite low on iron at my last bloods so will keep an eye on that, I've been taking spatone but run out so will go get some more.

Thanks again!

Hi BrereRabbit and Brummagem!

Do you keep an eye on busy periods of the day minipie? If you're worried then call the antenatal ward they may have you in to monitor which will put your mind at rest. I know that certain times baby is rarely busy and at others I always feel him. He also moved lots when I'm hungry! Glad you've got her moving :)

I have a small bum too SquattingNeville, much to dh's disgust! But larger than average thighs :(

I did some wrapping today, very proud of myself!!! All my minded kids pressies (9 children) done and a couple of ds2's.

I like Rory daholster! Glad your day off was useful, think I could do with a 4hr nap some days!

daholster · 11/12/2014 16:47

This afternoon had another 2.5 hrs, now its time to collect dd!!! I have literally slept all day... Xmas Shock

daholster · 11/12/2014 16:49

except when eating my sandwich and posting on here

minipie glad you are feeling happier, anterior placenta probably isn't helping. They said to me when monitoring movements its didn't matter what strength so long as it was definite kicks or wriggles not just rolls.

Hidingthefear · 11/12/2014 17:02

Glad it worked freedom I'm 22+3 and it's only recently I've noticed definite movements. I downloaded the count the kicks app but not used it yet. I reckon I get maybe 7 or so a day on average(sometimes more).might try the cold drink trick though and see if I can stimulate him so DH can feel it. He hasn't felt any yet.

Never heard of a sling library, might have to Google if there's one near us somewhere.

BananaToast · 11/12/2014 17:40

Glad those with movement worries have had success getting a wriggle. Mine has been going crazy today, I was in a meeting this morning and was sure people could see it moving, it felt so obvious. Think it's warming up for its big performance at the scan tomorrow morning!

I can't wait to finally have my scan, feel like I've waited forever! Scanxiety has kicked in today but I'm not quite as bad as I was before the 12 week one. Just keeping my fingers tightly crossed that everything is ok in there (and obsessively checking my countdown timer... not that I'm obsessing in any way..)

I think I remember reading yours is tomorrow too smog, if so hope it all goes well for you.

FreedomHuntress · 11/12/2014 17:55

Thanks, Hiding and Banana.
Good luck with your scan tomorrow, Banana (and smog if it's tomorrow!).

catsofa · 11/12/2014 18:28

Thanks everyone for knicker help! All the supermarket ones seem to be disposables, but I found a £1 shop today with huge granny knickers which I think will do for a while. About two sizes bigger than my usual is working ok, just about up to my belly button for now. I just suddenly can't stand any pressure at all below the bump, which also means I have nothing else I can wear either - no idea what I'm going to do for xmas drinks thing tomorrow! I definitely have some extra bum going on too.

Hello to new people! Sorry I just can't keep up with these threads properly they move so fast, by the time I've read everything it's all moved on.

Scan on Monday, which also means a visit from DP for a few days, hooray!
