Had a rather un-original attempt at a new name! Hop across ladies!

missmanage I'm am full consultant care, nothing to worry about but I started as a high risk pregnancy so they like to keep an extra eye.

Anti sickness pills appear to have kicked in, I'm scoffing weetabix quick before my body notices.

Xmas2014SecretSantaA6200 · 09/12/2014 06:24

I have family history of depression and anxiety and personal history of anxiety (not formally diagnosed, but it got to the point where I was so anxious I couldn't even drive my car down the road without having a meltdown and would have near panic attacks for days before any sort of travelling) I wonder whether that will mean that I am higher risk :S

WantToGoingTo · 09/12/2014 06:27

Wools ignore the post above from secret Santa! Haha!

TouchPauseEngage · 09/12/2014 07:10

Morning all,

blue so sorry to hear your news.

I feel like I'm almost able to relax now. Scan next Tuesday morning. Just want to get it done now. Busy week ahead so I should be distracted.
Interesting to hear those mention family MH issues putting you at higher risk of PND. My mum had off the chart PND with my sister (though she was also single with no family support which led to it being undiagnosed for months) so it is something I'm concerned about. My mum will be watching me like a hawk for any signs though.

broodylicious · 09/12/2014 08:42

PND is bloody awful. Far worse than anything you could imagine. Grips you and shoves you down a very dark, evil hole. A good support network is so essential when you have a baby, even if you think you'll be all fine, so see any meetings or guidance etc with professionals as a good starting point. My experience anyway.

Good luck today pipSmile

Morning sickness. What an absolute joke. Should be done under Trades Description Act and renamed Morning, Noon and Night Sickness.

TinyCaterpillar · 09/12/2014 09:11

Morning, noon and night sickness, yes broody! I just keep eating so that I won't feel sick, and then worrying that I'm going to end up the size of a house at this rate. I'm trying to remind myself that I put on weight very quickly with the other two but only gained 2 stone or so overall. It just doesn't seem likely at the moment with 32 weeks to go!

We had an early scan at the weekend and everything was fine, feeling a bit more confident about things now and hoping to share our news at Xmas. Good luck with your scan today Pip.

Number3cometome · 09/12/2014 09:53

Good luck today pip

secret santa I am having a low risk mental health assessment, I don't believe it makes you high risk.

Naturegirl82 · 09/12/2014 10:03

Good luck with your scan pip

I've still not heard from my mw. Phoned yesterday and I've been assigned the same lady I had last time which is good but I'm really concious time is ticking away.

Starting to worry about all the things I did before finding out I was pg as well. I had a big night out (first one since dd1 was born sod's law) and had dental x - rays. I know there is nothing you can do about the things you did before you knew but it is a little worrying.

tiny I am the same. I only feel ok if I am either sleeping or eating. Unfortunately work gets in the way of sleeping and so I am constantly grazing.

I moaned to DH about it last night (one of my fears is putting on weight and not being able to shift it, I am pretty slim and I know my DH would not like it if I got too big) and he just said "well, you're just going to have to get it under control aren't you?"
I cried. Insensitive twat. If I could control it, I would.

WantToGoingTo · 09/12/2014 10:24

Ah ok number maybe they will do that for me too :S

Naturegirl82 · 09/12/2014 10:32

Fleur don't worry about it. It does settle down. I have to eat loads to stop the nausea so I put on weight quickly but once that stops (and it does) my weight gain was normal. I put on 2 stone last time despite the eating and a 9 lb baby.

Mw just called yay. Booking in next Monday so she should be able to tell me a scan date then so at least we will know if we need to book a private one before Xmas. It's really nice as I have the same Mw from last time so she knows all of what we went through so will understand my concerns

Fleurchamp · 09/12/2014 11:07

Is anyone thinking about having a private midwife or doula?
From friends I have heard that what they really needed during childbirth was someone to stand up for them/ be their advocate. My DH will not be very good at this, I fear. Plus I have heard that post natal care in my area is really poor.

Should I just man the F up?
Or do you think it would be worth it?

Number3cometome · 09/12/2014 11:08

Ladies, anyone found each baby has got bigger?

want more than likely, my midwife is coming round on the 21st to do mine. I was very hesitant but she says it's just for their records and nothing to worry about.

Number3cometome · 09/12/2014 11:10

fleur I've not heard of one of those but I wish I had someone like that with my first dc if I'm honest.

Pipbin · 09/12/2014 11:19

So, there is a viable pregnacy and we saw the heartbeat but it is measuring small. It should be 7+4 but it measured at 7. The clinic aren't completely happy with it and want me back in a week to see a weeks growth.

Fleurchamp · 09/12/2014 11:23

Ah pip how are you feeling? Good news that there is a heart beat but I guess it will be a tough week wait Flowers

Leela5 · 09/12/2014 11:23

pipbin viable pregnancy is good news, hopefully bub will catch up with growth :)

Broody I agree - I feel sick most of the day and it's worse when I'm tired like today. Keep wondering if I could just go home for a sleep, but I don't think if be allowed :(

Number3cometome · 09/12/2014 11:27

pip 4 days out isn't unusual - i am expecting 5-7 days being taken off my dates as that always seems to happen to me.

Please don't sorry - heartbeat is positive :) x

Fleur I sort of have a private mw. It's a service offered in my area where you can have all appointments at home (bar scans obviously but these can be done in the evenings to facilitate partners attending) and if I chose to have a home birth (which I won't) I could have my mw deliver the baby. She'll also come and check me in labour before I go to the hospital so I don't have to go in too early. I also get to see her for 6 weeks post birth. She also attends all my scans so she knows what is going on which hugely helped with the issues we had last time, and I have the same Mw again this time. I don't think it is offered in all areas though but is in the north west if that is any help. I really like it. But you may be suprised by how your partner reacts in the birthing room. I just made sure mine was well briefed on what I wanted and the options if things didn't go to plan so he would know what to do.

Fleurchamp · 09/12/2014 11:56

Thanks nature I have been pretty much told my all of my friends in the area that I won't see the same mw twice Sad

My DH is a funny thing. He talks the talk but completely bows to anyone he perceives to be in a position of authority. So, if a MW says x he would agree. Also, he wouldn't be very forceful in getting help as he would worry that people are busy etc.

He has zero patience with me when I am ill. It took him actually witnessing me being sick on Sunday to persuade him that I wasn't well enough to go out Hmm

Naturegirl82 · 09/12/2014 12:02

Fleur have you thought about having a friend or family member as a birthing partner as well as your Dh for support. I've seen mixed reviews on doulas and I think they are quite pricey. But at the end of the day you need to have confidence that the ppl with you will support your decisions and have your best interests at heart, so I really do think it is a personal choice. I have seen that you can sometimes get trainee doulas who will obviously be cheaper.

Fleurchamp · 09/12/2014 12:10

Thanks nature I will have a good look around to see what I can come up with.

TBH I don't really have anyone else I can ask. Certainly not my mum, we get on well but she can drive me crazy. Perhaps my sister but she lives over an hour away and has two small children so it would be difficult for her to get away.

I quite like the idea of having someone around after the birth too, as I do not have a clue about babies and have never even changed a nappy despite having 3 nieces and nephews!!

broodylicious · 09/12/2014 12:15

fleur, I'd definitely have a doula if funds allowed. Are you planning on doing NCT classes? My NCT teacher is a doula too so worth seeing if yours is also?

SophieBarringtonWard · 09/12/2014 12:29

nature you're having One2One midwives? I am too. I had something similar with my first baby (in London - the Albany midwives), but with my second I had a home birth attended by community midwives.

Naturegirl82 · 09/12/2014 12:45

sophie yep one2one. I started off with nhs with first but referred across at 12 weeks because I didn't like the nhs process. I think it's a fab service, much more personal especially when faced with difficulties in the pg. Meant I didn't have to explain things every time but also as soon as necessary I was still referred to the fmu for consultant care without a hitch. I've not even bothered with my gp mw this time. Are you in the NW then?
