Had a rather un-original attempt at a new name! Hop across ladies!

Hoping the stats link works...

thought you can only find the heartbeat with a Doppler at 16w+? Probably more likely to have been your own heartbeat!

I have a pinnard, will dig that out at some point as will be nice for the kids to play with.

Threeplus1 · 04/12/2014 21:39

I also thought you couldn't hear a heartbeat until 16 weeks, but the midwife found dd2's at 14 weeks and here the midwife has said from 12 weeks....

IBelieveInPink · 04/12/2014 22:24

And here! A couple of twitches I could swear were kicks!

IBelieveInPink · 04/12/2014 22:27

All the guidelines on dopplers say not to use until 14-16 weeks, because it is hard to find before then.
Midwives don't recommend them because people rely on them when they shouldn't, and because it can cause worry if you don't understand how much room baby has to hide away in there...

Baby's hb is very different from your own hb. If mine was going at 168 Bpm I'd be quite concerned!! Grin

Blueskygirl30 · 04/12/2014 22:40

Still quietly trying to keep up with all the chatter here. I'm a bit jealous of those of you who are due at the beginning of July and are therefore further along than me, I feel like I'm ticking off the days at the moment.

I'm really very sorry to hear your news Sdyer and Teddy

Blaze what could you see at your scan? I've got one booked in for Monday and I'll be 6+5 also so it would be great to know what to expect hope for.

TouchPauseEngage · 05/12/2014 07:26

Morning all, sorry to those who've had sad news.

Well I'm feeling almost totally symptomless here. Apart from bloating and boob ache I feel totally normal, which is very disconcerting.
Also, feel like I'm the only one not having an early scan. Booked in next Tuesday- seems like a long wait...

itsnotthatdeep · 05/12/2014 07:40

touch, I'm 10 weeks today and no scan for me it works out my 14+6 cutoff is new years day so who knows when my scan will be Shock

im a massive stress head and when I was pg with my daughter I was so bad with antenatal anxiety and depression, im kinda of the opinion I dont want the downs tests because it will just cause months of stress for me waiting to find out. I feel I will be better off just waiting til the birth

is anyone else worrying about this or is it just me ?

JoY007 · 05/12/2014 07:49

Morning Ladies! itsnotthatdeep I worried about it too, and wondered whether or not to take the test, however I tried to calm myself using my family's medical history and people of similar age or older than me that were pregnant, that it is just routine. I am 38 by the way, and I hear risks are higher when you are older. I am probably not justified but it helps to relax, calm and make me think positive. That is all you can do Smile

TouchPauseEngage · 05/12/2014 07:54

Morning deep

I'm also a big worrier. DH is getting really excited but I'm just assuming the worst until a scan says otherwise.
Re DS test. I'm having it because I'd like to know, however, it's the one thing I'm not actually worried about which DH finds strange!
I would feel comfortable continuing my pregnancy if I had very high chance of DS. That's a totally personal choice and I don't judge anyone else at all by what they choose to do, but personally I know we would be fine.
I keep thinking once I have the scan I'll stop worrying but I'll hazzard a guess that after that I'll worry till 20wks and so on!

Naturegirl82 · 05/12/2014 08:29

I was worried about all scans. 12 weeks for ds and 20 weeks for anomaly with dd1. We had something picked up at dd1's 20 week scan which meant further monitoring (I had 8 scans in total last pg) and she has had further tests since she's been born. So that was stressful (plus a nicu stay) (she's missing an organ but she's fine though). But I'm feeling much more relaxed this time round, maybe because I've only known a few days or because I think even if they find something it might not be the end of the world. It will probably be very different when I get a scan date through though!

Number3cometome · 05/12/2014 08:53

Morning ladies, I don't feel quite so nauseous today, but my gosh my tits are massive. OH was like WOAHHHH what's happened there?

I need some emergency bras

StoneBaby haha yeah defo my mind playing tricks on me!!

I'm kind of glad and sad I won't be having a labour (will be booked in for a section).
The section is certainly a more painful and longer to heal option but no choices here.

Ladies who are feeling flutters - I first felt real flutters at 16 weeks with DS and 11/12 weeks with DD.

It is possible to feel them early on, but it isn't kicking, just movement.

If you are 10-11 weeks chances are you baby is the size of a date or a fig, and if you had something that size moving on your skin --trying not to think about creepy spiders) I think you would feel it. I am a believer you can feel stuff early on, just maybe not until 10+ weeks, but everyone is different. Smile

My scan is next Friday shits pants

broodylicious · 05/12/2014 08:53

Wow nature. Do you mind me asking which organ your lo is missing?

I shan't be getting a Doppler. Far too much opportunity for misinterpretation, panic and general concern. Some things are best left to the experts IMO particularly as I'm already a massive stress head

misseskimo · 05/12/2014 09:01

Morning ladies, another bad start this morning. Felt awful already then had to power walk it to the bus stop which made me so nauseous and light-headed I genuinely thought I was gonna go there and then Sad also discovered that buses + morning sickness are not a good combination! But then I'm sure racing for my bus every morning also can't be good for me (or baby)!

OP posts:
Number3cometome · 05/12/2014 09:03

misseskimo urgh I am boaking at the thought of the bus.

My OH is a long legged - fast walker. I am 5ft 3, he is 6ft.
Chasing him down the road is no fun, but I am hoping it will keep me slightly in shape haha!

I get on the train and feel sick.

I am grateful for the symptom as glad as I can be but not so glad of the morning jog Hmm

Naturegirl82 · 05/12/2014 09:26

broody she's missing a kidney. Strangely out of all the scenarios we were given during the pg that was the best. It's not doing her any harm and I swear the antibiotics she is on because of it are giving her super powers as she's been walking since 8 months. Shock

Number3cometome · 05/12/2014 09:38

Nature blimey I thought my two were early at 10 months!!

Naturegirl82 · 05/12/2014 10:02

number I know. She was properly crawling at 5.5 months and pulled herself up to standing the same week as well. Everyone always things she's really small as they think she is much older than she is, but she's actually quite big for her age.

VirtualPointyHat · 05/12/2014 10:05

bluesky I had a scan at 6.5

You could see the cloudy area of the uterus, then a dark kidney bean shape of the sac, and inside that a cloudy lump - baby

The baby kept flickering, apparently that is the heartbeat

Totally surreal

WantToGoingTo · 05/12/2014 10:07

My mum bought me a maternity bra from jojo maman bebe and it is so comfy to sleep in! It is called maternity day and night bra and is a bit like a racer back crop top. But it is super stretchy and v supportive, my boobs haven't hurt since sleeping in it would definitely recommend and it was £12 so didn't break the bank either :)

JoY007 · 05/12/2014 10:28

Lucky, I have some bigger sized bras, I went through a phase when a friend who buys bad bras told me I needed a much bigger bra because she felt her niece wore the same size as me, and I believed her for a while! I kept those ill fitted bras and always said I will need it some day when I am pregnant Smile. They have now come in handy. What I do need is a change of wardrobe, my clothes are way too tight, I don't tend to wear baggy clothes. Nauseous today - I am on Lemon and water, already feeling tired though, would like to have a 30 minute snooze.

misseskimo · 05/12/2014 10:32

number I'm 5ft4 so not much difference between us, but I do have a habit of power walking everywhere even when I don't need to... Get it from my mum who my dad is always moaning walks like a cheetah. Lol. Though atm its not helping me. Feeling worse as the morning goes on and not got any work done yet, even though I've been here 2hrs already! Sad the temptation to go home is unreal but I've already had a day sick and a half day due to mw apt. This week so don't want to take the piss

WantToGoingTo · 05/12/2014 10:43
