Hey all, hope you had a good non sicky time over Christmas!

Just arrived back from visiting parents and in laws in Scotland who went crazy with excitement when I broke the news. Had to make them promise to not buy anything until my 12 week scan.

My letter for my first appoinment has finally arrived. However, it's not until I'll be 12.5 weeks!! That seems really late. It's my first pregnancy and I'm sligjy conceded I've just been left to get on with it. I assume that as is this is so late I won't be getting my first scan anytime soon?! I think I have to have one for a new hall test between 12-14 weeks?

Is this wait normal?

em165 · 29/12/2014 22:50

Shantotto, that does seem a bit late. I haven't heard from a midwife yet and i'm worried my appointment wont be until around then either. I wouldn't mind so much if that didn't mean the 12 week scan would also be a bit late.

I had my early scan today though which went really well. We saw a little heartbeat and baby measured exactly 8weeks 3 days which is what I thought I was. Very relieved and happy Grin

Dozygirl · 29/12/2014 23:08

natalie fingers crossed for u

I've still no news from midwife either. shantoto hopefully you'll get a scan date quite soon after the appointment.

I feEl like the laziest sloth ever. Managed to be the lucky one to receive annual leave for the second half of my shift so I came home sat on the sofa and didn't move until I've come up to bed. I've slept on and off and felt really sick. Don't like feeling like this. It's getting on my nerves now.

clairexxx · 30/12/2014 09:37

Hi everyone. I know I haven't posted for a while. I'm 8 weeks tomorrow and I really love being pregnant. I know that's strange as I'm still getting nausea in the evenings and it's even keeping me awake at night so I'm not sleeping properly. I can not do my jeans up any more, even though I still haven't put on weight. Even my MIL passes comment yesterday and said Gosh your showing already. Did you know twins fun in the family?! I know it's not the baby that's showing but rather my body expanding etc.

I have my follow up scan today and I'm so nervous. I just want to see a heartbeat! It was too early last time. I do have a tilted uterus so I know that might make it trickier to see it. The spotting has completely stopped so I hope all the pregnancy symptoms are a good sign. I'm eating and drinking all the right things and never ate so healthy! I haven't had chocolate since the day I found out I was pregnant!

I'll have a read back on the thread. I need to get ready as I've been lazy this morning and still need to get dressed and do my make up! My husband keeps buying me luxurious bubble bath and body lotions so I can pamper myself. He also keeps bringing me home DVDs, books and craft supplies as I'm a huge crafter. I'd better enjoy being waited on while it lasts!

Sparrowlegs248 · 30/12/2014 10:00

Morning,

To those who don't have appointments yet, I was really concerned as its my first pregnancy and GP said i wouldn't be seen til 12 wks. However I got a letter almost immediately and had my booking in appointment at 7wks on the dot. A few days letter my scan appointment came for 12 + 1. I would chase them up - if you want the nuchal test done it has to be 12 - 14 was i think.

Sparrowlegs248 · 30/12/2014 10:02

Oops posted too soon.

I didn't sleep much due to the tickly cough I've got with this cold but actually feel better all round today (so far....) I also took paracetamol yesterday, and am drinking ginger beer like its going out of fashion. The bubbling seems to help my throat.
Bloody freezing today. The perils of an old house.

D00dles · 30/12/2014 11:48

Hi toothachereturns! So many horsey girls Grin my nausea has eased a bit but I now can't stop eating and sleeping! I have a private scan booked for Friday I'll be 9weeks. Fingers crossed!
I'm seeing the midwife next week when I'll be just shy of 10weeks and my scan is not until the 29th Jan! It feels ages away!
I have everything crossed for you Natalie x

D00dles · 30/12/2014 11:51

Clairexxx I'm glad I'm not alone with my evening/nighttime sickness! I thought I was being odd waking up to be sick most nights!

NatalieBee · 30/12/2014 12:25

Thankyou girls :) spoke to a midwife on the phone today and she doesn't seem to concerned because it's stopped and I've no cramps and still have pregnancy symptoms! She told me to relax but easier said than done in on pant patrol 24/7 lol!!

CarrotPuff · 30/12/2014 13:40

It hasn't happened to me, but I've read on MN before that some ladies got the booking in appt after the 12w scan. Which is a bit odd I think, but there you go.

Had my GP appt today, who sorted out my MW referral. Also filled out mat exemption form. It's great to know the ball is finally rolling!

Also booked flu jab for me and DS in 2 weeks time. Not looking forward to that, I had a very sore arm for quite a few day

CarrotPuff · 30/12/2014 13:42

...days last time!

I hope I'll get a letter some time next week, but then I don't know how quick they are here, as last pregnancy I started off at different trust, but got transferred at around 30 weeks when we bought a house. We shall see!

I hope everyone is feeling better during the last days of this year Flowers

sianihedgehog · 30/12/2014 13:56

Hi all, I'm about 7. 5 weeks, due mid August. Second pregnancy after a miscarriage in September.

Had 2 NHS scans so far due to a nasty cycling accident and a bleed, but both showed a normal bean and a good heartbeat, so I'm feeling pretty excited and positive now! Also feeling sick, which I didn't get last time. :(

D00dles · 30/12/2014 14:13

Hi sianihedgehog, I also had a MC last Jan and like you I had hardly any pregnancy symptoms, I remember thinking how different it felt to my DD. I'm having a good day today so que the usual panic if everything is ok! Let's hope for a happy healthy pregnancy!

Dozygirl · 30/12/2014 18:20

carrot this is what frustrates me about not hearing from a midwife because I can't get a mat redemption certificate. What if I was needing meds at this point that I could be getting for free? I don't know how to get a form from them :(

claire I'm glad you're enjoying pregnancy. I'm really not enjoying the nausea or tiredness but I'm sure it won't last forever. I'm away next week so if instill haven't heard from a midwife by the time I get back then I'll have to find a way of getting in touch with them because I'll be over 9 weeks by then and I don't like waiting. It worries me in case they've lost my form or something.

Lilydreams · 30/12/2014 18:35

Glad to hear everyone is doing ok! Had my booking appointment yesterday- lovely older midwife who really put me at ease as she seemed very experienced and easy going. Explained why little bleeds happens in lots of detail so I know I will be much more relaxed if it happens again. Also booked my 12 week scan for 26th jan eeek!!

Had a private early scan this afty which was fantastic! Saw little heartbeat and even better heard it! Sonographer measured me as a bit less than my dates have been telling me putting me at 7w4d rather than 8+1- my 12 week scan is booked for when I would be exactly 12 weeks based on original dates (lmp) but possibly will only be 11+3 based on today- will this still be ok for DS test etc?

CarrotPuff · 30/12/2014 19:49

Dozy, I got the form from the GP, not the MW. I suggest you ring your surgery and ask.

cattyf · 30/12/2014 21:29

I have booked an early scan for 10th Jan, I feel so uneasy about it at the moment because I don't really have any signs/symptoms! The midwife called today to arrange my booking appointment for 6th Jan. If you had yours already did your other half come with you? They are dating me from 6th Nov but I had extremely irregular cycles and I'm worried my dating scan will be too early, I though they adjusted it based on your cycle length??

Brummiegirl15 · 30/12/2014 22:41

I think I may have my booking in appt with the scan as my 12 week letter says I will see a midwife as well.

My nausea is up and down. One moment it's gone then another minute it returns with a vengeance. I am finding salty food plus very cold drinks help me feel better.

The only thing I wish would end though is the unbelievable tiredness. Cannot believe how exhausted I am.

Follow up scan tomorrow and I'll be 8+5 - same day as the ERPC last time so after tomorrow it will be the longest I've ever been pregnant. 3rd time lucky...

NatalieBee · 30/12/2014 23:21

Goodluck tmorrow Brummie! Fingers crossed for your scan tmorrow!

My brown spotting is still away and heartburn going strong and boobs sore with nausea, so hoping all good signs! 9 days and counting to my scan Smile

toothachereturns · 31/12/2014 08:12

Good luck tomorrow Brummie x Smile

toothachereturns · 31/12/2014 08:12

or today rather!

daisysunshine2 · 31/12/2014 09:30

Good luck brummie got everything crossed for you SmileFlowers

otter32 · 31/12/2014 10:04

Good luck brummie

catty I think your dates will be based on your scan and the size that they see. The date I got off the midwife was based on the first day of my last period, but I think the scan would overrule that if it were different. Try not to worry about lack of symptoms too, everyone is different and each pregnancy is different.

Just think what our next nye will be like ladies! Grin

otter32 · 31/12/2014 10:04

Also, has anyone got a belly band yet?! And recommendations?

toothachereturns · 31/12/2014 10:29

What's a belly band??
