Ah man, fleas

Yeah, UK holiday would be fine it's just there is a family wedding that we are going to and extending it to a week.

I just wish DH had calmed down on the planning as MIL is now all excited and he will tell her after Xmas that we might not be going. I will just tell him that he will have to go with her regardless (that will not go down well, his mother frustrates him as she is, well, meek, for want of a better term - if you ask her whether she wants tea of coffee she cannot decide and gets flustered about not wanting to put anyone to any trouble Hmm and he can't handle that).

Bless her she is a very sweet lady, I am lucky that i don't have a dragon for a MIL.

leela my symptoms are mainly just tiredness, occasional womble pain and tender boobs. No nausea (I graze all day usually). I still drink coffee (just less of it). Oh and bloating. Lots of bloating Sad

ohlordyplordy · 26/11/2014 12:39

Thanks for the spreadsheet headless and miss - I've added my details.
Feeling pretty symptomless here - I guess I should make the most of it!
Pondering how to word it when I tell my folks at Christmas:
a) we're pregnant,
b) we're having a baby
c) you're going to be grandparents
leaning towards c).
Has anyone got any inventive ways of breaking the news? I think i'm going to just say it straight out, no waffling, then it's out there and can't be taken back!

WantToGoingTo · 26/11/2014 12:51

ohlordy I did c with my dad :) asked my mum if I could borrow a family baby heirloom and hunk I will use the same can I borrow x in July for my grandparents :)

I just say 'we're having a baby' or 'I'm pregnant'. I'm not really one for announcing though, I kind of slip it in conversation. We are going to announce it to dhs family at Christmas though, as I won't have seen them beforehand.

Fleas - very annoying, yes. you can get a spray that is safe to enter room after about half an hour. Indorex. You'd need to get someone else to spray. It lasts 6 months. Advocate will sort cat out

Fleurchamp · 26/11/2014 13:10

We're having a private scan before Christmas, plan is to put a photo in a card and give them to our families when we see them. To my eldest niece we are giving her a card saying she will be a cousin (she doesn't have any yet and she is 8!)

I am nervous! No idea why, I am 34 ffs and have been married for years!

ohlordyplordy · 26/11/2014 13:15

I know the feeling fleur. At the ripe old age if 34 there will be no denying that I have dtd!!!!!

Number3cometome · 26/11/2014 13:28

fleur and ohlordy I will be 34 in Feb. I already have two DC's, I still don't think my Dad accepts how this has come about Blush

Number3cometome · 26/11/2014 13:47

So the ex just text and said he would like the kids at the weekend.
He hasn't seen DS since May, and DD since October.

Nearly fell off my chair.

Thought my pregnant eyes were deceiving me and perhaps this was just a day dream?!

laspalmas · 26/11/2014 13:51

Hi ladies. I've been lurking for a while but not posted for fear of being outed but here goes. I'm about 8 weeks with my third. Not exactly planned but very much wanted (just a little earlier than expected). I'm no spring chicken at 36 either! I've had one MMC at 10/40, DS1 arrived late, DS2 arrived very very early so I'm going into this pregnancy with a very open mind and zero expectation. I'm booking this weekend (at a local level three hospital) and expecting to be referred to the high risk team and have booked a private reassurance scan for this coming Monday.

I was going to wait till after my scan to say hi but felt like I had to respond to Fleurs question. DS2 arrived very very early on holiday (much earlier than your trip would be). Very luckily, we were within helicopter distance of hospital with a level 3 neonatal unit and after 8 long weeks, we were transferred back to the uk to continue care here. I was very unlucky with DS2 as had been abroad while pregnant with DS1 and it was fine, but there are certain things I had no idea about. Take your mat notes, don't go if you are even remotely high risk, have good insurance that covers any premature baby being repatriated back to the uk by air ambulance, know where your nearest hospital is and check it has a maternity/neonatal unit that could deal with a 33 weeker. I never thought it would happen to me and I'm one of the very few unlucky ones, so I'd say go if you feel comfortable but be prepared for every eventuality.

DS2 is actually quite poorly at the mo, been in hospital a few days but hopefully coming out today so I've been juggling quite a lot this week along with a reprise of good old nausea thrown in!!

Looking forward to being part of the due-ly journey (hopefully if this ones decides to stay in for the duration !!)

misseskimo · 26/11/2014 13:52

headless haha, more like it gave me a break for 5mins away from my own 100x the size, very complicated and giving me a headache spreadsheet! Hopefully I haven't missed anyone! I saw one for another thread earlier, and they added columns for 1st antenatal apt, 12wk & 20wk scans, B/G preference/prediction, then actual B/G result... And it went on and on!

ohlordy I was thinking if we announced at xmas we would give cards to everyone with "your going to be a... [grandparent/auntie]". I handmade our wedding stationary, and still have leftover card and ribbon, so was thinking it might be nice to use the same stationary to make the cards... Good chance no one will notice, but hey. Otherwise, we're going to announce it at DH's birthday meal in Jan, and we thought we'd get him to open a present at the table which has "So your going to be a Daddy" book, baby booties and maybe a babygro inside that he can hold up in front of everyone as our announcement... Only downside is that I'll be 14wks by then, but our scan isn't until 30th Dec and I'm really unsure about telling anyone before we've had it Confused. It's stressing me out more about when to tell people than anything else!

sdyer · 26/11/2014 13:59

How do we update the spreadsheet from an I phone? X

Number3cometome · 26/11/2014 14:11

laspalmas you really sound like you have been through it!

FX and well done for being such a soldier and still not letting it put you off xxx

JoY007 · 26/11/2014 14:21

leela3 I am not sick either, 8w today, but I think that is because of my many drunken experiences - I hate the feeling of throwing up ( not that anyone likes it :-) ) I have thus taken every effort to avoid food that my brain thinks will make me sick. I do have the nauseous feeling, tiredness, big boobs, and waking up every 2 hours to pee. The nausea reduces with drinking loads of water, was advised by a friend that soft mints are good for that weird taste in the mouth, I think it works.

I have a few friends who were never sick and went on to have a healthy pregnancy, I am beginning to suspect that they tell us MS is a good sign to make us feel better when you are experiencing it, it's a terrible thing when you do have it.

Number3cometome · 26/11/2014 14:51

Leela5 I am the same.

I don't pee more frequently, although I do wake up busting to go.
My boobs are sore, sort of, but only if I run or press them.

I don't feel sick or nausea, unless I let myself go hungry - like today and then at that stage I feel like everything makes me feel a bit yuck?
Like if I leave it too late to eat, I don't fancy anything but have to eat.

I don't really have that metallic taste in my mouth and I don't particularly feel tired.

I mentioned this to my midwife as this is completely different to my last two pregnancies. She said we'll just see at the scan, so i've got everything crossed.

I was so tempted to buy a ClearBlue digital with the predictor thing on it but convinced myself what will be, will be. No test will change that, and even the early scan will be no guarantee, so there is no point worrying myself into the ground as everything may well be perfectly fine!

I guess what I am saying is I am staying quietly positive until I know otherwise.

I think you should do the same Wink x

EnglishExpatUSA · 26/11/2014 15:14

Hi ladies,

Apologies I have been totally AWOL for ages - we have been travelling quite a bit with no internet access. I've enjoyed catching up on all the latest!

Had my scan yesterday at 7weeks 5 days and was very interesting - saw little baby measuring 8 weeks and heartrate of 155 which is great. However the sonographer then had a good look around and found a second sac - but it was empty. I had released two eggs and they had both been fertilised and implanted, so little one had been a twin, but the second baby never developed (my doc called it a vanishing twin). Disappointing as I would have loved twins, but obviously it wasn't meant to be. Maybe next time :-)

Just to reassure anyone who isn't feeling majorly sick - I haven't either (just the odd moment of very mild nausea, no vomiting) and all seems well so far so don't worry x

Number3cometome · 26/11/2014 15:16

EnglishExpatUSA Lovely news, but sad about the twin.

So glad you have a little healthy 8 week baby in there!!

I feel reassured now you have said you don't feel sick Smile

EnglishExpatUSA · 26/11/2014 15:27

Number3 ah thanks! Glad it has reassured you :-) My doc also said it is totally normal not to feel vommy x

Number3cometome · 26/11/2014 15:28

EnglishExpatUSA ok, I will relax now and breathe! x

sdyer · 26/11/2014 15:39

EnglishExpatUSA glad all is well. Sorry about the loss of the twin it
Could happen next time Flowers

EnglishExpatUSA · 26/11/2014 15:58

Thank you sdyer Smile xx

Lewaney3 · 26/11/2014 16:12

Fleur that's a lovely way to tell people... Made me smile Smile

Yes leela I just suffer from period cramps late at night and a urge to pee every half hour or more!

Also for those who read my rant post about my gp receptionists. After finally getting an appointment and confirming I can be registered yesterday. I received a call today from them saying I can't be registered as having a boyfriend there does not count as next of kin. Apparently the receptionist yesterday had written down I attended with bf. HmmConfused I snapped back that the form said mrs. I had spoke to 2 different people each time stating husband. And I had written it on the questionnaire if they bothered opening it! And I NEVER mentioned boyfriend at any time and it must be an assumption as me and my husband look fairly youngAngryHmm the lady then apologised and said that she had been told it was a boyfriend Confused now taking marriage certificate and a wedding invitation in as well as temptation to take in a bunch of my big fat wedding photos Grin I just hope the midwifed and gp are nothing like the receptionists.

Lewaney3 · 26/11/2014 16:24

Congratulations englishexpat lovely news, sad to hear about twin Flowers

And thanks for the reassurance about the nausea. I've not suffered any at all so was starting to get worried.

TallGiraffes · 26/11/2014 16:32

I had my second scan today and all perfect, measuring 8w 1d. Shows how unreliable the early ones are as the one exactly two weeks ago was measuring small at 5w but with a good HB. So happy as apparently the mc risk is now down to 2%.

Number3cometome · 26/11/2014 16:34

TallGiraffes Brilliant news!!!

Butler4 · 26/11/2014 16:41
