Morning all. That spreadsheet is cool how do I add myself? Does anyone that gets the train to London have a baby on board badge? I'm too nervous to put mine on x

Fleurchamp · 26/11/2014 07:18

Morning ladies!
I am also terrible with needles. The last time I needed a blood test I made DH come with me Grin and needed a large red wine afterwards to calm me down.

When are the blood tests done in pregnancy? At the first appointment?

Overtiredbackagain · 26/11/2014 07:25

If I remember correctly bloods are done two or three times through pregnancy, the first around time of first scan, to coincide with DS tests?

I found out first pregnancy I was A Rhesus Negative so also needed to have Anti D jabs in both pregnancies.

Fleurchamp · 26/11/2014 07:37

I have no idea what blood group I am Confused

So, am supposed to be at work at 8am but I am still in bed!!!! Feel absolutely exhausted, it's going to be a very long day Sad

Kilicat · 26/11/2014 07:46

Morning all, fleur i know the feeling - half the time it seems a struggle just to do anything. And I've just puked again for the second day in a row...hope this isn't a new trend!! DH covered one of my lessons yesterday (we work at same school) so I could go home and sleep for an hour midday which was amazing but not sure he's got time today.

WantToGoingTo · 26/11/2014 07:55

I got told by my MW that I will have bloods at booking in, and at every mw appt thereafter so about 10 times in total! :O

On train so can't add myself to spreadsheet now but will so later - good idea! I don't travel every day to London only occasionally so no badge for me but I think I would get one from about 12 weeks as if you feel faint on tube you really need to sit down. And before 20 weeks it isn't obvious that you are pg and may need a seat.

broodylicious · 26/11/2014 07:58

overtired, I'm rhesus negative too so had to have the anti d. Let's not say anymore about that...Wink

Yeah blood taking is quite a theme in pregnancy I'm afraid ladies. However, at the hospitals, they tend to be much better than mw so don't worry too much. I was quite worried of needles at the start of my first pg but had so many that I'm ok-ish now, as long as I don't watch. Tbh I found the whole cannula insertion (when I went in to give birth) far more stressful and remember that annoyance more than any labour pains!

Overtiredbackagain · 26/11/2014 08:22

Blood at every MW appointment?! That seems abit extreme! I think I had them done twice in both pregnancies and only at hospital. I've changed GPs now so it might have changed.

I commute to London daily, last few weeks have been hell and I always manage to end up with someone sitting next to me with most overpowering perfumes!

DD poorly today so I've thrown a sickie to stay home as I have no holiday left, so I'm looking forward to staying in pjs most of the day, although I'll have to collect DS from after-school club later.

BadIdeaBear · 26/11/2014 09:07

Well I'm glad I'm not alone! And that it might be that blood tests are better than an injection - I'll try and convince myself of that and just hope my MW isn't as keen on bloods as wantto's! Maybe I'll just do some screaming...

I've always worried if being pg would just get me over this thing - here's hoping...

broodylicious · 26/11/2014 10:22

It honestly did me bad - I don't look forward to bloods being taken now but I don't have mega fear like I did before.

owlsandbadgers · 26/11/2014 10:35

Morning all,
Feeling rough today, I was up all night with a nasty bout of IBS, it was one of the worst I've ever had, made me vomit and reduced me to tears (pathetic i know!). Still having tummy pains now but as i can't take anything am pretending it's not there and hopefully it'll become easier to ignore :)
5+5

misseskimo · 26/11/2014 10:35

Morning ladies, another bad night last night. DH is still unwell which is keeping me up. Lucky I'm wfh today so I stayed in bed till 9:30 as was feeling awful. Will have to make that up this evening or I'll feel guilty.

zampa my DH is like that. We both volunteer in hospitals etc. And never fased by anything we see and we see some pretty awful/weird things, however if I have blood taken we both get fuzzy headed! I went for a blood test in the summer and DH was watching and HE bloody fainted! Now he has to turn his back everytime I have one or he goes all light-headed. Having the baby is going to be interesting!

Fleurchamp · 26/11/2014 10:48

Can I have your opinions, please?

We take my MIL away for a week each year (she was widowed a couple of years ago). Next year we are basing this around a family wedding abroad.

This will be when I am roughly 33 weeks pg and will involve flying. Now, flights are currently £100 and I don't mind losing this sum but DH and MIL are eager to book a holiday cottage for the week with a deposit of £300. Plus DH has said that he will not go if I don't (which is sweet but means we potentially lose £600 - MIL would not fly alone).

We have checked with the airline and provided I can get a letter from the Dr to say I am fit, I can fly. Worse case I can always get train and/ ferry but that wouldn't be ideal and if I am not fit to fly I wouldn't go anyway IYSWIM.

MIL doesn't know about baby yet and won't until Xmas.

I would prefer that we just book a hotel that we can cancel a few days before and not commit ourselves. I also think it's really unfair to get my MIL's hopes up about a week away when it might not happen! She suffers with depression and plans like this become a huge focus for her.

We would take her away with us later in the year (with the baby- eeek) anyway.

What are your thoughts?

Sarkymare · 26/11/2014 10:52

So MIL just came into the bedroom to talk to DP and like an idiot I had left my bright orange maternity notes poking out of my bag In full view. She hasn't mentioned it but I'm pretty sure she did see.

Ooops

naty1 · 26/11/2014 11:05

Fleur im not sure.
If you book you need something you can cancel and get most of money back.
Last yr DSis pg decided to fly over at maybe 30wks. She had placenta previa and they were saying its moved, its not moved etc so they were coming and not for months. In the end decided not to fly as it can be time critical to get to hosp. Luckily DM got money back on the apartment for them.

I have a similar issue normally go away in uk with parents in early june and despite it being dc2 not sure how ill be at 34wks or so.
Though now DSis has booked up the only other choice - mid may so im stuck with june :(. Despite telling dmum i might want those weeks.
Just think i might not feel like walking around a lot. Also DD was a day early (labour from 3 days early) so im not expecting to make my EDD.

NotPennysBoat · 26/11/2014 11:22

Bleurgh had a really bad couple of days, can anyone tell me when the nausea will ease?? This is DC2 but I had a relatively symptomless pregnancy last time (keep telling DH it must be twins!). It's just relentless queasiness and nothing seems to help - I need a day off!

Sorry for the moan!

NotPennysBoat · 26/11/2014 11:22

Sorry I'm 6+4

misseskimo · 26/11/2014 11:31

headless I've just added everyone on the last made list to your spreadsheet - Hopefully it's worked!! Everyone just needs to add their EDD and Name/Age/Location (if they want to) now Smile

Also sorted it by EDD so we can see all grouped together.

Leela5 · 26/11/2014 11:37

fleur in not sure. If it were me id probably not want to fly at 33 weeks because I get stressed flying but other people fly perfectly well and if you get dr say so and feel well enough then it should be fine. It's really up to you. If you're going to worry about it though perhaps go for easier option of a uk break?

I have achy lower back and stretchy pains in uterus pretty much constantly, but my boobs are no longer sore and I only get nauseous if I dont eat (I think it's more hunger than pg) I'm pretty good at grazing regularly in bananas, nuts etc so I'm not really getting nauseous. Only other symptoms are feeling very tired in afternoon/eve and waking up in night to pee. Is anyone else getting quite mild symptoms? I feel like I should be throwing up by now or having really sore boobs. Lack of symptoms worries me as I mc in sept.

Any reassurance would be lovely :(

Leela5 · 26/11/2014 11:37

Oh I'm 6+3

Leela5 · 26/11/2014 11:38

Incidentally I'm booked to see take that when I'll be 34 weeks!! Seated tickets thank goodness !

headlesschicken247 · 26/11/2014 12:05

Thanks miss. You're a better woman than I am :-)

SophieBarringtonWard · 26/11/2014 12:11

Fleur I would book flights & hotel that you don't mind losing the deposit on i.e. it isn't loads of money, just in case. Chances are you will be absolutely fine to fly at that stage - I would have been with both my DC. But as you never know you don't want to put loads of money into it!

itsnotthatdeep · 26/11/2014 12:11

Hi ladies, what a nightmare one of my cats (who I'm trying to rehome) has only gone n infested my house with fleas. I'm so stressed trying to deal with it all (I'm not pulling out all the furniture on my own)Sad it's just cost me an absolute bomb n I can't stay at the house tonight because of the chemicals, also I have to wash everything and I mean everything

I just wanna cry

itsnotthatdeep · 26/11/2014 12:12
