touch im self employed and you should receive ssp if you're ill. if you havibg working tax credits it cancels it out though rather annoyingly

TouchPauseEngage · 25/11/2014 17:27

imnot I thought it was only after 3 days? Funnily enough, since I left my horrid stressful office job Ive not had a day off sick in 2 years!

I've just read in the bounty pack that we're not supposed to eat Mr bloody Whippy ice cream. You'd think if it was such a source of germs we'd ban children from eating it too...

Loads of the food advice in there is wrong or out of date too. I will carry one eating Stilton and boiled eggs and ignore it I think Grin

Butler4 · 25/11/2014 17:32

Had my booking in appt today too. All went well, blood taken and loads of medical history questions. Apparently I'm low risk so all should be good. Told to stay away from Google too when I'm paranoid! Lol!
Just need to wait 4 weeks for my scan at 12 weeks now ??

itsnotthatdeep · 25/11/2014 17:47

touch

I was sooo stringent last time but this time I just think, if im being sensible then its cool. plus all the things I really like are on the banned list. is pre packed salad still on there Grin Grin

Zampa · 25/11/2014 17:56

Re. "banned" foods, I'm willfully ignoring some of the advice. Had sushi for lunch today, cheesecake at the weekend and am drinking a unit or less of booze every 10 days. Emily Oster's book "Expecting Better" was fabulous for providing perspective on all of these things.

Pipbin · 25/11/2014 17:57

Shit - is pre packed salad on the banned list?

Thepurplegiraffe · 25/11/2014 17:59

I think it might be but as salad is one of the few things I can face eating, I am having it almost every night!

Fleurchamp · 25/11/2014 18:13

Excellent news deep where can I find the book which bans salad? I detest the stuff but DH keeps forcing me to eat it Grin

WantToGoingTo · 25/11/2014 18:15

pip it will only be cos of chemicals they wash it with I reckon if you wash it well it'll be fine!

Well my exam was really hard :( now lying in bed in darkened room I am so tired think the exam stress has caught up with me. Af a course tomorrow then back to work on Thursday oh joy.

Great news virtual I'm sure that's fine as some babies grow slower than others and catch up later! :) was DH happy he went with you?

Wow this thread moves so fast it's hard to keep up with everyone's news. Virtual - sounds good and if they're not worried then I assume that's fine! Miss, hope you manage to get more sleep tonight!

Had frustrating trip to the GP (after they rang me yesterday evening to book an appointment to go over a blood test). Basically the GP doesn't really know what the result means and doesn't know why the results were sent to the GP surgery rather than the consultant obstetrician at the hospital. The CA125 levels are moderately raised meaning it's possible that the cyst may be a cancerous, but she doesn't know if pregnancy affects the results, so is sending the results back to the hospital (by post so that it takes as long as possible...). Does anyone else have any experience of this CA125 marker?Currently frustrated and concerned!

WantToGoingTo · 25/11/2014 19:01

kilicat I am not condoning giggling but this seems to suggest that pregnancy coul cause it to be raised - I am sure that I your doctor was seriously concerns it was cancerous the results would be faxed and not posted www.patient.co.uk/doctor/cancer-antigen-125-ca-125

I hope it isn't bad new for you Thanks

Condoning googling not giggling!

headlesschicken247 · 25/11/2014 19:03

Not sure if pregnancy affects it. It's quite a new marker and the results can be relatively unreliable. Put it this way they are still running trials to look at it's use as a standalone marker and efficacy in relation to standard scans etc.
The consultant would be the best person to be able to tell you. I wouldn't worry about it (not easy I know). But rest assured they will follow up quickly. Hopefully the consultant was also sent the results. If you have a number can you call just to check and raise your concerns - you don't want to have any more worries at this point

headlesschicken247 · 25/11/2014 19:05

actually just did a quick google check and pregnancy can cause elevated levels so don't stress :-)

headlesschicken247 · 25/11/2014 19:07

btw just testing something here.

can someone let me know if this works rather than re-writing stats……..

Kilicat · 25/11/2014 19:12

wantto your giggling comment made me laugh!! Thanks for the link. Headless she seemed to think that the results were only sent to the GPs, which I think was probably an admin error made by the nurse as I wasn't on the hospital system so she just wrote on it to send results to GP (which wasn't probably the right thing). When I suggested this to the GP she told me not to blame the nurse....(can't say I was very impressed with the GP, she was pretty abrasive and I wasn't blaming anyone, just trying to help her understand what had happened at the hospital, which is what she was asking about). I'm trying not to worry but the situation is confusing as the GP basically called me in to ask who had ordered the tests and was asking what had happened at the hospital.

Kilicat · 25/11/2014 19:13

Reassuring about the elevated levels in pregnancy - i now wish I'd asked what the actual number is!

Kilicat · 25/11/2014 19:16

headless just opened the link - got a sheet with some named columns, but no info in the columns - is that what you're expecting?

headlesschicken247 · 25/11/2014 19:17

Yep. Hadn't got to the point of adding the stats yet. Just thought I'd put the structure there!!

headlesschicken247 · 25/11/2014 19:28

hopefully anyone going in should be able to edit….

slightlyconfused85 · 25/11/2014 19:48

Hi all, just checking in. My boobs are a bit less sore today and I haven't felt very sick. Normally I would be pleased about this, but I'm really nervous as I had miscarriage end of Sept. Hope it's nothing, I know I'm just being extra paranoid. 6+0 today.

itsnotthatdeep · 25/11/2014 20:03

Zampa I had a lovely glass of red on Friday when we went out, I'm not planning to drink again til Xmas

Re banned foods I think being sensible is the way forward

WantToGoingTo · 25/11/2014 20:06

Just had an argument with DH with me ending up in tears :(

I bet I am the only one whose DH does not want to see any scans. He says he wants to come to appts and find out me and baby are ok, but doesn't want to look at the screen?! He says he wants to see baby when it is born, not before, ''cos all baby blobs on scan pics look the same'' I was really upset as it sounded like he isn't going to be interested til baby born. He say that's not the case and he wants to know the important stuff bu seeing baby isn't important, knowing it is developing well is, and that people didn't use to be able to see their babies before birth. He says he is not going to apologise and stormed downstairs and he doesn't understand why I am so upset but I don't understand why he doesn't want to see! He even googled to see if any otherwn felt the same but no results came up unsurprisingly. I don't know what to so he really upset me but he won't say sorry :(

OP posts:
headlesschicken247 · 25/11/2014 20:11

Maybe you just present him with worst case scenario, I'm not saying this will happen, but heaven forbid the 12wk scan shows it's not viable wouldn't he want to be there so you can support each other...

headlesschicken247 · 25/11/2014 20:15

And then once he's there he may well change his mind
