Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Just saw the midwife, well actually saw her at 11, just had a two hour wait for bloods now off to work. She was nice, done my early scan referral and consultant referral. I'll get a call for a scan date she said.
We discussed previous miscarriages and she seemed to think I shouldn't worry too much as they happened before my DS and DD were born although we will check as I said I am virtually symptomless.
She is coming to my house for a full book in next week.

Fingers crossed and trying not to worry and hoping my bean is growing. Might do a cb digital just to check I have moved on from 2-3 weeks on the indicator or am I just obsessed

Fleurchamp · 25/11/2014 13:20

I am being nagged by DH to get a date for the 12 wk scan. He travels a lot for work and is being chased to commit to some dates in Jan (will be 12 wks 4th Jan).
Anyway, I don't have my booking in apt with the midwives until 23rd Dec. I believe my scan apt will be sorted out then.
This is not good enough for DH, he wants me to get it booked now ( he can't see why not).
Called Dr, they said hospital sorts it out.
Called hospital and (after a ridiculously long wait) was told midwife sorts it out.

DH told me off and said I need to be more assertive.

Gah! Feel like giving him the numbers and telling him to check for himself ( he won't).

< moan over >

VirtualPointyHat · 25/11/2014 13:27

Had scan, has heartbeat and sac and is in right place.

However it only measures 6+3 when by my dates I should be 8+1

They didn't seem worried, but by their count I got my bfp when I was 3 dpo which can't be the case

JoY007 · 25/11/2014 13:34

Thanks Itsnotthatdeep

When hospital wrote me, I am in Epsom by the way, they sent me the m/w appointment and the nuchal scan appointment together though both appointments are on different days. Usually the 12 week scan takes place at 12 weeks +~~ days not sure the exact number of days, this is from reading the booklet that was sent with the appointment letter.

Anyone else at Epson Hospital?

Geh, horrible night last night! DH was up from early hours being vilantly sick, it really did sound like someone was murdering him! I went down about 4:30am to try to help and kind of wished I didn't as it made me feel so sick myself I almost passed out Sad I've never in my life had a problem with sicky people before, I do alot of volunteer work at hospitals and events, and am always dealing with it, and never had so much as a itch of a stomach turn because of it, yet this time, he was in the cloakroom loo downstairs and it was affecting me in the bedroom upstairs! I felt so awful leaving him, but I just couldn't hack it... Poor DH, he was more concerned about making me ill than the fact that he spent the best part of 3hrs on the bathroom floor!

Other downside being that by this point I was wide awake, and as I didn't go to bed until gone midnight, I think I only got about 3hrs sleep. So felt awful this morning.

Am also super paranoid he has picked up a bug which has apparantly been going around recently, and I really don't want/need a tummy bug on top of pregnancy symptoms :( We ate almost exactly the same food all day yesterday, so there shouldn't be any reason apart from a bug that he was/is ill.

Overtiredbackagain · 25/11/2014 13:37

Joy007, can you put sickness bug?

sdyer · 25/11/2014 13:45

Hi all patienceisvirtuous yes I am getting leakage and also constipation today it's very annoying. I know this is crazy but I think if I strain too hard baby will come out lol :-s

JoY007 · 25/11/2014 13:48

I think they will want me to expand, I have pout acute nausea, and if the ask for more I willo say food poisoning. Thanks.

SophieBarringtonWard · 25/11/2014 13:57

Virtual from what I have read there can be quite a lot of discrepancy in size early on (one of the reasons early scans aren't always reassuring!) so try not to worry.

naty1 · 25/11/2014 14:11

VPH the scans arent 100% accurate at early stages. Im 1 day out even with ivf. Pretty sure DD was more like 5 days out.
I think it should be within about a week. The earliest bfp ive seen was 8dpo. I guess the skill of the sonographer and way embryo is lying. I mean mine was a tiny 9mm blob.
What will happen with your mw booking in and 12 week scan will they base them on these new dates?

Fleurchamp · 25/11/2014 14:15

Just had a cry over the not being able to get any sense out of my local NHS trust Blush

Have been furiously googling private maternity services and wondering how I could get DH to agree to spend £10k on it ..... Hmm

naty1 · 25/11/2014 14:25

fleur. It depends why youre having the 12 wk scan?
Dating
Nt
Both
I think nt needs to be done certain weeks, so you could find limits of this maybe 11-13? And try to get him to keep that clear.
Or pay for private scan if he cant make it.
Have private harmony test

Wouldnt it make sense if we were given the options for times of scans at mw appts. Mine just sent a letter, much better to have options.
Also you could go for early scan and then it may not matter as much if DH cant make 12 wk one.

Leela5 · 25/11/2014 14:59

Sdyer me too!!! Smile

Fleurchamp · 25/11/2014 15:11

It's the NT. I just don't get why they can't book scans like any other appointment, why it's all cloak and dagger?

I don't mind if it is done at the end of the "range" I just want my DH to be able to come too.

We are having a private scan at 10 weeks but having read stuff on here I am well aware that the 12 week scan is the really important one and we shouldn't rely too heavily on the earlier one.

Sorry, just moaning and feeling sorry for myself, doesn't help when I am being nagged by DH Angry

Ps I also don't want to strain when doing a dulcet (sorry dulcet) I worry all sorts of things will fall out.

headlesschicken247 · 25/11/2014 15:15

fleur can you go onto your hospital site and maternity services. A lot of them allow you to self refer if your over 6 weeks. You then send the form to request the 1/ wl scan and it cuts out the Middle man.

VirtualPointyHat · 25/11/2014 15:18

thanks for reassurance

the sonographer said to base dates on todays scan for now and re-assess a the 12? week scan

I have my booking in appt on Fri so will see what mw says

Pipbin · 25/11/2014 15:21

Naty. Lovely news about your scan. I just can't wait for mine.

Fleurchamp · 25/11/2014 15:25

Either way I am not allowed a booking in appt any earlier than I have.

My hospital will do them from 12 weeks pffft.

Jealous of all you ladies who are being booked in Envy

Number3cometome · 25/11/2014 15:27

virtual naty Don't worry ladies! I have had two early scans and dates were put back both times, but then at the 12 weeks scan (by their dates) was measuring big!

I think everyone develops differently, so no need to worry unless you are told there is a problem.

StoneBaby · 25/11/2014 16:12

Got my letter for the mw appointment. 19th December. The odd thing is that she'll come to my house! Confused

Saw diabetes specialist today who after congratulating me, said 'I need to tell you that 1 on 8 pregnancies end up been a miscarriage, but it won't be because of the diabetes but just the way it is meant to happen.' I left his office with tears in my eyes, I know he can be direct sometimes but is it a good thing to say to pg women when I am sure it's already in their mind?

Number3cometome · 25/11/2014 16:23

StoneBaby Gosh what is it with people today!

The plebotomist said to me "first baby?" I said "Nah third"
I almost saw her grimace.

She was nice, but she said "how are you feeling?" I said "early days but fingers crossed"

She then proceeded to tell me about her two miscarriages.

I know she was just being nice, but even so, my symptomless mind and body is worried enough!

My MW said she is coming to my house too for the full booking, then she is handing me over to consultant care. I've not had a midwife come round before!

JoY007 · 25/11/2014 16:25

I appreciate providing the odds, but his delivery is off. Stonebaby ignore, hope for the best and all will be fine, sometimes some healthcare providers are not the most sympathetic at the best of times, I guess the nature of their job demands that they lack in emotion. Don't worry about it, trust you will be fine Smile

TouchPauseEngage · 25/11/2014 16:54

Hello all! It's been a busy day on here! Hope everyone is ok.

Had booking appointment. V uneventful! FX should get scan date this week. Could be any time from two to four weeks time.

Leela sadly being self employed means no job security. It also means no sick pay so I'm glad Ive not been too sick so far.

We could get by on DH's wage but it would be tough. I have 3 jobs though and the other two are ad hoc so should still be there when I am ready to come back to work. I actually love doing what I do usually but at the moment I long for my very stressful but very secure, previous job in an office!!!!

TouchPauseEngage · 25/11/2014 17:04

Sorry leela I missed that you missed the self employed bit! Ignore me Grin
