Hello ladies,

Can I join you? I got my BFP yesterday and am still a bit in shock. I'm totally confused about due dates. Why do the calculators add an extra two weeks? What does number+number mean? Is that weeks and days since predicted ovulation? To our complete surprise, it seems to have happened straight off the pill so I have no cycle to go off. I got a BFN three weeks ago, assumed my periods were just taking a while to come back post-pill so only took another test yesterday.

I work for a family business. I have been there a long time and am generally treated well but other family members that are employed there pull rank when it suits them.

Not being big headed, I practically run the place for them. I do virtually all the admin, they have no idea what is involved. This is on top of my actual job. I know they will find it hard to get cover for me, I know the business inside out and they will struggle at times (eg year end).

I will offer to use my 10 keeping in touch days to come back in January to do the main admin jobs but I will require payment / additional holiday leave for it (I will only get statutory maternity pay, after 10 years there!) and I am not sure that will go down well.

My bosses are only concerned with what is in the company bank account.

Leela5 · 25/11/2014 07:56

Ah I missed the self-employed bit. Damn, sorry touch. Hope your appointment is ok this morning.

number I don't have majorly noticeable symptoms. Boobs ache occasionally, I feel nauseous only if I don't eat but I eat often so it rarely happens. I am getting cramps and lower back pain but that makes me worry more because I'm not sure it's normal.

Everyone is different x

Leela5 · 25/11/2014 07:59

Pumpkin you count from date of last period start. If you don't know that then count back 2 weeks from suspected ovulation and they'll likely send you for dating early scan to confirm dates. I have same thing as I got pregnant after mc without a period inbetween. I know when I ovulated but I'm getting dating scan

6+3 is 6 weeks 3 days

Congratulations!

PumpkinPi84 · 25/11/2014 08:12

Hi Leela,

Thanks for the explanation, and also the recommendation to push for a dating scan. It does seem a bit odd that date is from period rather than conception, makes me feel like I'm fibbing about how far gone I am! Based on my withdrawal bleed I'm 8 + 2 but could be a couple weeks less than that as no idea when I ovulated!

WantToGoingTo · 25/11/2014 08:13

Pumpkin I think if you count from date of conception (approx 2 weeks prior to BFP) then you count 38 weeks to give an EDD (as EDD normally counted from date of last af, which would be approx 2 weeks before conception occurs).

WantToGoingTo · 25/11/2014 08:15

Pumpkin I would estimate your due date as 3 August, and that you are approx 4+1, but that is based on exact 28 day cycle with ovulation at exactly 14 days. As you don't know dates, when you tell doc, midwife will arrange a dating scan

Can't believe it's not even 9am... Woke up ridiculously early, it feels like it should be lunch time already! Finally heard from the midwife, my booking app is in two weeks when I'll be 8+4. I can't remember anything about what happens at that appointment! Baby brain kicking in early? Feeling really sick today but like others it comes and goes. Just can't wait to see little one on a scan and then I'll feel a bit more confident I think!

WantToGoingTo · 25/11/2014 08:50

Tiny I haven't been to booking in before, but I was told that they will do urine test, blood test, carbon monoxide test, weight and height to calculate BMI. They will then ask you loads of questions about family medical history and your general health, where you want to have your baby, what fetal tests you want done (e.g. nuchal scan for downs syndrome) and then book you in for 12 week scan if all is well and you haven't already got one. I was told my appointment would be an hour. I have mine at 8+6, but that is another 3 weeks away! Ages :(

Or as my mw did booked me for a dating scan only (despite ivf) and left not the nt scan. I got to hosp and found out i was really upset and angry as there could not have been a misunderstanding and i worried i wouldnt get the nt one done in time. Hosp refused to do it at the time. We were lucky and got in 2 days later but by then DD was lying the wrong way, stubbornly, wouldnt move for any jiggling, water, cold air. And it looked like they wouldnt manage it until i said about an internal acan and that worked. Then they nearly couldnt get blood test, prob due to the cold water etc.
My letter from hosp hadnt said nt scan but it didnt either say for your dating scan only.

WantToGoingTo · 25/11/2014 09:29

Oh dear, doesn't sound like a good experience naty. Thanks for sharing, will make sure my scan letter says it is a nt when I get the letter!

hi all, just trying to focus on practical things this morning, could any of you who have had an internal scan tell me what is easiest to wear. I was thinking a skirt may be most straightforward?

WantToGoingTo · 25/11/2014 09:41

Virtual either way you have to take your knickers off - they do leave you alone to get changed, and put a sheet round you etc, but a skirt would be practical I think because then you can keep it on and just pull it up :) Hope everything goes ok for you today

Just had my drs appt and she's back in my good books!
Paperwork all filled in and she has requested that I have an early scan - yippee. Hopefully this will occur and we can wait til then and then tell people (close family).
So relieved. Booking in appt with mw next week so I may know something by then.
7+3

Just felt a gush, while I was in a meeting at work. Went to loo straight after and it's a bit of blear fluid. Not loads.

I'm finding things very stressful, I think because of my previous m/c. I'm 5+2 today and this is how far I got in May, this year (my first pg) before I m/c'd.

I'm hoping it's just a bit of excess discharge :( What worries me is this is what preceded my m/c last time - although there was a little more liquid.

Is anyone else having any mini-leaks? :(

must try to stay calm and positive

patienceisvirtuous · 25/11/2014 10:51

*clear fluid

Kilicat · 25/11/2014 10:51

Virtual hope the scan goes well for you today. When I had an internal scan I was given a gown to wear which acted a bit like a blanket, removed trousers and knickers and it was fine - the lights were pretty dimmed to!

Had my first sickness this morning (10 minutes before work...yuck!).

Slightly worried about a GP appointment this evening. Had blood test when they found my cyst the other day, looking for C125 marker (or something...basically checking for tumour) and the lady at the hospital said if you don't hear anything then don't worry, it's good news. An so the GP rang up yesterday and I have an appointment today (virtually a miracle at my surgery) so of course totally panicked there's something seriously wrong. This of course meant I didn't sleep very well and so not really a surprise I puked this morning!! The sleep really does make a difference...feel deadfall today.

WantToGoingTo · 25/11/2014 10:57

Patience I have periods of gushing feeling, and yep just lots of cm. Some ladies get extra cm when pregnant so think it's normal, but understand why you would be anxious due to your previous experiences Thanks

Imagine second time around I've forgotten everything

So how do I work out my due date ?

I have three dates I could have conceived on ?

Sorry for this I'm all confused

8+2 (I think)

Overtiredbackagain · 25/11/2014 12:17

itsnotthatdeep you go back to the first day of your last period and count 40 weeks, that would give you your due date, assuming you have a regular 28-day cycle.

itsnotthatdeep · 25/11/2014 12:29

Over tired that makes me 8+6 then I think

I think as well with me having an elective c section this time I'll be having baby in June

Roll on next week at the midwives

Overtiredbackagain · 25/11/2014 12:57

I too have my booking-in with midwife next week. I am pretty sure of my dates, but cannot be sure as the last year my cycle has been all over the place, ranging from 23 to 28 days, but I will see what midwife says.

I am 7+6 today, but still not sunk in at all just yet

naty1 · 25/11/2014 13:02

Ivf scan today at 7w saw hb and baby measured 6w6d .
Only odd thing was the sac was quite large and not circular. Anyone had that?

JoY007 · 25/11/2014 13:05
