Hey everyone, hope your all good!
With my 1st pregnancy i was feeling so sick by this point, this time just the occasional wave of nausea and don't feel like certain foods, It makes me worry for some reason although i know each pregnancy is different. I haven't heard anything from the MW yet so hope to have a date for my booking in appt soon. We are considering an early scan just before Christmas so we can relax a bit.

Does anyone else have IBS? I suffer very badly and have been told by the GP not to take any of the perscribed or over the counter medicines which is proving to be incredibly painful, if anyone has any suggestions as to alternative remedies I'd be very grateful. Thanks

5+3

VirtualPointyHat · 24/11/2014 20:00

Thanks wild, yes I am but DH is coming

However his work is insisting he go in first, come home for scan, then go back to work. Travel time is 90 mins each way

Following details may out me but need to vent

Told DH I needed him home, so he was going to cry off hobby and come home to cook me tea

However we had a call saying his dgrandad has had a fall and is in hospital so he has had to go to him

Very worried about him, but why did it have to be today

And despite promising myself to take it easy, the other leaders did nothing at brownies tonight, so I have been trying to find out which hospital Dg is in, organise games and do first aid

Really feeling sorry for myself tonight

Leela5 · 24/11/2014 20:26

:( virtual it's been a bit of a crappy day today. Can you put your feet up tonight with a cup of tea?

I hope it goes ok tomorrow and
His grandad is ok

broodylicious · 24/11/2014 20:32

Oh virtual, what an absolute palaver for your dh with all that travel! Not what is needed at all. I'm glad he's going with you though. I'll be thinking of you xx

Thepurplegiraffe · 24/11/2014 20:36

Virtual what a ridiculous thing for his work to expect, what a waste of everyones time. Sorry you have had a tough day, hoping tomorrow is a whole lot better. Thanks

Blueskygirl30 · 24/11/2014 20:57

Virtual sorry you've been having such a tough time and a rotten day. I hope your DHs glad is ok and that you can get his full attention later on.

Want good luck with your exam tomorrow!

WiIdfire · 24/11/2014 21:15

I understand the frustration Virtual. I have midwife appt tomorrow and would have had similar 90min+ commute each way before and after. Couldn't be doing with it, hence why Ive booked a day of annual leave. Hard to do with less notice though. Hope scan goes ok - and that grandad is ok too!

misseskimo · 24/11/2014 22:15

Sorry to hear your having a bad day virtual hope everything goes OK tomorrow. My DH has a similar issue with his work. It's a 90 min journey for him too, and his work want him to do the same. His are also asking him to make up any time he spend at apts. or take it as annual leave. Our 6wk scan they told him when he was on his way in that he had to take it as a 1/2 day holiday, which really annoyed me as he would only have been 2hrs late if he went in, and instead had to take out of the limited (1.5dys) holiday that he has left until Feb and was saving up for emergencies.

I've just bought myself some ginger and peppermint teas. Been told ginger is great for nausea, and peppermint for trapped wind, so I bought both... Just trying a ginger one now and WOW that has a kick to it! But I'm pinching my nose forcing it down as I'm feeling pretty nauseous atm, so we shall see if it works!! Fingers crossed!

Pipbin · 24/11/2014 22:26

I'm having no symptoms.
I'm 5+3 - reassure me please ladies.

patienceisvirtuous · 24/11/2014 22:46

Pip I am 5+1 and mine are very mild. Some people are symptomless at this stage. Or so it says on my Sprout app!

owlsandbadgers · 24/11/2014 22:50

Hi Pipbin, I'm 5+3 also and other than waves of occasional nausea (which could be as I've had a bug) I have nothing else. My 1st pregnancy i seemed to have loads of symptoms, and awful sickness all day. A friend said that with hers she didn't start feeling very different until 6+ weeks. That reassured me alot today.

GoBigOrange · 25/11/2014 01:49

I was in your shoes a week ago Pipbin, mine is also an IVF pregnancy and we can't really afford to cycle again, so I was feeling frantic because I had no symptoms and was wishing for just a little hint of queasiness or something to show me things were still happening in there.

I felt fine and normal right up until 6+2. Yesterday though, at 6+3, I crawled out of bed feeling like absolute crap and have been feeling nauseous, exhausted and heart-burny non-stop ever since. So give it another week and you too may be feeling like roadkill. Really, really queasy roadkill Envy

Fleurchamp · 25/11/2014 06:26

Ladies, that's rubbish about your menfolk and their employers. They do realise that men are entitled to time off to attend 2 ante natal appts?

Although I haven't checked it is probably unpaid.

I am dreading telling my work. I was at our other office yesterday and the bitching and moaning that went on because one lady had taken the day off (as last minute annual leave) to look after her sick child drove me insane. Most have grown up children but have clearly forgotten what it's like.

WantToGoingTo · 25/11/2014 06:29

Thinking of you today virtual Thanks

miss I drink pukka 3 ginger tea - it is more sweet than fiery would give that a go if your ginger tea is too much! :)

fleur I am also worried as I have a new line manager starting in feb and old one left last week and haven't told anyone yet. My job is also quite pressured and I am the only one that does my job so think it will be hard and to find mat cover. My employers been joking for last year 'your not going to go off and have babies are you?'

OP posts:
Leela5 · 25/11/2014 06:50

I think the only way to get through the whole taking mat leave thing is to remind yourself it's your right and it's their problem to sort cover, not yours.

My work is going through restructure just now and it's a shitty time. I'm actually looking forward to getting away from it for a bit as it's been going on for years now. There's every chance I could be made redundant.

Romeolovesjuliet · 25/11/2014 07:14

Ugh, awful, awful night with DS constantly coughing and waking himself up. He has inherited DH's crappy chest so I hate it when he gets a cold as his breathing is always dreadful - last time we ended up in hospital, poor little thing. Anyway, I feel dreadful - think whoever said nausea is worse the less sleep you get - definitely on to something there. I'm also dreading telling work - I was only back a few months after DD before I had to break the news I was pregnant again and it will be the same again this time. The only way I can try and soften the blow a little is by saying I absolutely will not be having any more after this one but I think they are still going to be pretty unhappy about it.
I'm off to catch up properly now - hope everyone has a good day.

broodylicious · 25/11/2014 07:21

Absolutely right leela! you shouldn't feel guilty for taking time out for appts, it's your right and is actually for the continued health of bubba and you. Grrr to naughty employers!

want, my old job was like that and I worried a lot about mat cover and them choosing the right person to cover me and continue the structure and plans I'd put in place (I was the only one in my area of expertise so I'd been responsible for everything up to the point I left). In the end, after I'd gone, they saw how much work I did, how much additional work they'd throw my way on top of what I was already doing...and employed THREE people to cover me! then I went back part time after a year, hated all three of them, totally different atmosphere, found out they wanted to keep us all on so I resigned and set up my own business I'm sure they'll find cover for you soon enough xx

TouchPauseEngage · 25/11/2014 07:28

want my bosses keep joking about that too. I'm self employed so I thibk I'll have to go back very very early at least three days per week if I want to keep my job. I guess I'll be able to take maybe 6-8 weeks without them replacing me but even that's pushing it. To be honest I'm just not thinking about it at the moment of I panic.

Booking appointment at 8.20 so better stop MNing and shower!

Leela5 · 25/11/2014 07:41

Touch legally they can't do that - you have every right to your job when you return

WantToGoingTo · 25/11/2014 07:41

Ooo hope your appt goes well touch! 8.20 is early!

broody gosh doing the work of 3 people?! I work for the nhs so I doubt that would happen in my case Wink who knows they may save costs and not get a replacement (when I started it was first time having a permanent employee on my post, they had couple of temps in the year prior, and no one before me! Wouldn't be surprised if they divvy up my work so that other people end up doing the work of 2/3 people as that is not uncommon in the nhs!)

Ugh feel sick to the stomach about my exam :( got all morning to twiddle my thumbs and I am anxious about getting there as last time I couldn't find the entrance to the building! Treating myself to costa lunch beforehand. Who knows what il be like at the net one when I am 33 weeks...!

Morning ladies.

MW at 11am, I don't even feel pregnant.

Worrying so much now, apart from slight breast tenderness I am absolutely symptomless after I was sure I felt sick last week.

Is it so bad to be praying that at any second I will hurl?

My other pregnancies were so different.

I need to cheer up.

Number3cometome · 25/11/2014 07:46

Sorry 6+3

WantToGoingTo · 25/11/2014 07:48

number other than on off cramps, on off sore boobs and on off dodgy stomach I am symptomless! Thy come and go for me and I haven't really had any nausea yet. I wouldn't worry too much, some people don't get any symptoms! I am sure all is well, hope mw appt goes well :)

Not sure that's the case for contractors Leela which it sounds like Touch is.

I'm wondering whether I'm going to get maternity pay for the first time ever - on DC3 - as I started a job a month ago. It's a zero hours contract for the NHS so not quite sure really.
