Virtualpointy - I totally empathise with you. I discovered through hard gained experience that I need to be really explicit with my husband....i.e. I NEED you to be there with me. Work, hobbies and everything else comes second. I hope everything's okay for you.

Think I'll be moving off the July forum - went for scan on Sat at what I thought was eight weeks, only to discover I am 11 weeks. Strong heartbeat. How far off was I with dates! Thrilled, after a mc and mmc earlier this year it was our time to be lucky. Can breath a (small) sigh of relief as I know problems can still occur.

Good luck to all you ladies! x

Leela5 · 24/11/2014 13:15

Babycentre for me. It's got great tips and videos.

Having a good worry today, it's a week til early scan and I wish it was here so that I can see if baby is there or not.

Tammisaurus · 24/11/2014 13:18

Hi all, hope you don't mind me joining in.
Got my BFP last week. I'm 6 weeks and due July 24th! How exciting!! Its still not sunk in but we are over the moon!!! x

itsnotthatdeep · 24/11/2014 13:18

Hi ladies this nausea is really ticking me off, I just feel sick but nothing happens it's making me really lethargic.

I'm another one voting dildocam is fine much much better than having smears and having coils put it!

My lil lady patted my belly as she went in the school gates she's so happy it seems I have underestimated her massively.

I wish I had recorded more of my first pregnancy, I was lucky enough that MN was around then but I never did the photo and diary thing.

Is everyone pretty much announcing at Xmas ???

I

itsnotthatdeep · 24/11/2014 13:19

Great news SQUIRREL

misseskimo · 24/11/2014 13:22

pip ah yes, I read about Bourn Hall - Congrats that it's been successful!

ginger me too!! I just want Christmas to be over with, so I can find out if everythings OK, and start telling people! The only ones who know so far are mine and DH bosses, plus my beauty therapist needed to check about my waxing still being OK! Though one of my sisters lives on MN, so I told DH that I think there's a good chance she may stumble across this news before I make any announcements! :/

Hi number ! I've heard mixed things about Basildon hospital... I have a couple of nurse friends who work there and say it's great, that compared to other hospitals they've worked at, it's the bees knees, but I know some people who have visited and said it's not that great... But then Colchester Hospital has been on the news recently as one of the worst in the country for bed-space, so I can't say much! I've never really visited Colchester Hospital before now, so have nothing to go on. Hoping it will be OK though! The EPU have been pretty helpful, though it was a horrendous 4hr wait just to see a Dr. and they had no beds for me to wait in privately, so had to stand in the corridor most of that time Sad

SquirrelGirl78 · 24/11/2014 13:23

Thanks Deep!

broodylicious · 24/11/2014 13:26

Huge hugs virtual Thanks I second the dildo cam not being too bad - maybe a little odd but not painful or anything. I'd be angry if my dh had walked out too but do stay close to him as you need each other, even if he did act like he wasn't bothered this morning (strange breed, these men, don't you think?!) And defo don't banish him to outside the room while you're having your dildo cam appt - it's far less intrusive and shouty than the birth will be so a good intro to folks in white coats/tunics and is vital he's there for you whatever the outcome.

I've spoke to my mw this morning. My GP surgery is defo ridiculously overbooked and so she can't fit me into either of her two clinics until Christmas week!! So instead she's coming to my house on Sunday December 14 when I will be 8+4. Much better all round I reckon!!

I asked her for opinions on early scans and she said it's entirely my choice but they can and do cause an awful lot of worry because the results are only valid for the exact time you have it done which is why they advise to wait until 12 weeks unless you've any issues or pain. I appreciate this is insensitive of me to write this and have no intention of causing offence or upsetting any one of you so won't go on but I think it's made me decide I'm going to let nature take it's course, try to relax and pray like buggery that all will be well this time.

itsnotthatdeep · 24/11/2014 13:28

MISSESKIMO that sounds awful Hmm

I'll be booked at QMC in Nottingham which goes through stages of great and bad reputation, I had a fab experience with them last time and due to my slightly fragile mental state had a lovely private room for the week of my birth/cs recovery

misseskimo · 24/11/2014 13:31

ohlordy I'm using two apps, both for different reasons:

Pregnancy Pro - I used the AF version of this for the past year and was great, so paid the £2 for the pregnancy one when I got my BFP. It shows your calendar with how many weeks you are clearly colour-coded. you can track weight, waist, symptoms, fetal movements, contractions, mood, notes and birth. Plus you can also record every type of appointment you have coming up in the calendar with alarm reminders. Each week it gives you a little blurb about what's happening this week, and you can track your weight/waist on a chart too. You can also store photos and name ideas too, but I don't use these features, I just use the vital stats and appointments features.

Bounty Pregnancy - Everytime you log in, it tells you exactly how many weeks+days you are, then gives you 6 options. 1) this week: whats happening in this week's pregnancy, plus loads of useful info about what symptoms you could get in this week and how to treat them. Info on food safety, exercise, antenatel visits and other stuff. 2) journal: you can keep a virtual diary here. 3) gallery: pics... 4) community: direct links to forums. 5) about: about bounty and the app. plus how to get in contact with the Tommys midwives. 6) settings: allows you to accurately put in your pregnancy details so the tracker is correct.

May seem silly to run two, but I find the info on the Bounty app useful reading, and the PP app great for storing stats etc.

Number3cometome · 24/11/2014 13:34

SquirrelGirl78 amazing news!

broody what does she mean only valid for that time? I thought if you saw a heartbeat MC goes down to 10%?

Just going on the power of google mind you!

I am in two minds about early scans, I have had them twice before, but half worrying I may have an early one then things still go wrong and i'll be counting my chickens so to speak.

misseskimo · 24/11/2014 13:35

itsnot you mean at the EPU? I wouldn't have minded normally, but it was when I really was unwell and the cramps were so bad it was crippling me. There was one other girl there who had been there 2hrs before me with same issues, and in the end she offered me the sole bed she had been given as she said she found it more painful to lay down, whereas I was the complete opposite! I have to say though, the Drs and nurses themselves were brilliant. It's not their fault the ward didn't have any beds or that the Dr's took so long to arrive. We could hear the nurses continuously calling downstairs to ask when the Dr was finally going to come up!

Number3cometome · 24/11/2014 13:35

ladies have any of you been brave enough to join any baby clubs yet?

You know they send you all the free bits from Asda, Tesco, Boots etc.

I want to, but am scared incase I tempt fate and then stuff starts turning up after things have gone wrong geez I am all sunshine and flowers today ain't i?

Bustherb · 24/11/2014 13:43

Welcome tammi Grin I had my mw appointment today, she is lovely!! Had lots of blood taken etc and she gave me loads of free bits xxx

WantToGoingTo · 24/11/2014 13:47

number I have! Want all the vouchers I can get!

miss is waxing ok?? I get waxed and didn't think to mention it!!

OP posts:
misseskimo · 24/11/2014 13:47

number I have joined a few, but only because some send you pregnancy support stuff. Like Cow & Gate for instance sent me a free pregnancy guide and diary, Tommy also sent me a wad of free books all about different aspects of pregnancy. Everything from healthy eating and exercise, to dealing with infections/toxomaplosis/screening, to premature babies and dealing with loss

Tammisaurus · 24/11/2014 13:51

bust that's amazing!! I cant wait for mine. Does it make it feel more real? Because right now I feel like its all a crazy dream haha.
When are you due? xx Ps, glad I have a pal on here haha

misseskimo · 24/11/2014 13:52

want my lady said it was fine. She said it's best to mention as some products they cannot use, but the actual waxing is fine. I wish I'd asked sooner tbh cause I thought you couldn't get waxed during pregnancy so got the dreaded razor out last weekend and now regretting it! She did also say though that some women find their skin alot more sensitive when pg so may be more painful than normal.

broodylicious · 24/11/2014 13:52

number, your chances do go down yes but it's not a guarantee. The mw meant that everything will be fine in that moment of scan but it doesn't mean there's no chance of any issues with bean between then and 12 week scan. God, I feel like such a bringer of doom now, I'm so sorry girls!!

Number3cometome · 24/11/2014 14:00

broody actually I totally get what you mean, and I don't think it is bringer of doom, I think it is absolute reality, and we have to be careful not to get too excited really. I have had mc's in the past, but all very early (before scan) so I guess in some cases it is best to just let nature take it's course.

Of course you should always have one if you think something may be up, but no point forcing one for no need if that makes sense (unless you physically and mentally cannot cope with waiting until 12 weeks)

Can you imagine how tough it would have been before scans were done!!

NotPennysBoat · 24/11/2014 14:11

Broody personally I think it's helpful to have all the info to make an informed decision - don't feel bad!
With my last pg I had a scan at 7+6 and saw a lovely strong heartbeat. Two weeks later started bleeding and another scan showed no heartbeat and only a tiny amount of growth since the last scan - probably only one day later! Although of course statistically there was a 10% chance of this happening. Devastating at the time but keeping everything crossed this time round. Won't be having an early scan for exactly the reasons you mention.

Number3cometome · 24/11/2014 14:13

notpenny so sorry to hear that, fx for this baby xx

ohlordyplordy · 24/11/2014 14:28

Thanks ladies, lots of interesting apps to look into.
broody thanks for the info from your mw. I'm going to wait it out in blissful ignorance and have everything crossed that we all have positive scans, no matter when we have them.
Sorry to hear about your experience notpenny, it must be painful to share but thank you. I hope tgat everything is going smoothly for you this time x

Threeplus1 · 24/11/2014 15:29

Another one here with two pregnancy apps; the bump and pregnancy+ I just am a little bit obsessed like the ways which each of them present the info

I spoke to my midwife clinic today and managed to get my appointment bumped up to next Monday because I'm 100% certain of my date of conception so, using that I am a week further along than previously thought. I hate this waiting period until you pass the danger zone.... At least once I have the appointment I'll actually start to feel like something is happening and it's not all just in my head! Dh isn't one to get excited or want to talk about it much until it's more of a reality so this board is a sanity saver! To be fair though, this was definitely a huge shock as we had decided 3 was enough and never planned on a fourth. I think he's still coming to terms with the idea...

Big hugs virtual and fx everything is ok Flowers
