Lewaney3 · 23/11/2014 22:09

Thanks for the suggestion leela I'm ringing the Gp tomorrow anyways hopefully to get an appt!...and perhaps a little more information rather than just leaving me in the dark Hmm

I've actually got a raging appetite... Roast dinner with all the trimmings and just helped myself to a second plate... I've gathered I won't be keeping my figure so may as well enjoy it Grin

Pipbin · 23/11/2014 22:16

Miss My baby was made in Colchester! (IVF, not a mucky night out)

Ginger I told GP I was pg and then booked straight in for a flu jab. They were very trusting, I thought they might want a blood or urine test.

Bustherb · 23/11/2014 22:18

So angry, we told our parents today and my father in law has already told one of his friends after being told not to tell anyone until 12 week scan. Absolutely fuming about it AngryAngry xxx

BadIdeaBear · 23/11/2014 22:36

supershiv1 good luck for tomorrow! I'm sure you'll do great!
I'm a student too as well as WantToGoingTo - seems there's a few of us around trying to juggle everything!
well, I'm a part-timer with a full time job in higher education - not gonna be a great combination with pregnancy, I don't think!

itsnotthatdeep · 23/11/2014 22:38

We told my daughter and swore her to secrecy, she was over the moon GrinGrinGrinGrin

My booking appt is dec 2 I will will be 9 weeks, it seems so late and probably no chance of a pre Xmas scan.

I will be having an elect. C section as had an awful last few months of pregnancy due to being diagnosed with a birthing phobia (oh I can laugh now)

Glad all the scans are coming out the right way EnvyEnvyEnvy

I've gone off coffee altogether now I can't stomach it all

itsnotthatdeep · 23/11/2014 22:39

Bustherb my mum did same with my first pregnancy, you just have to breathe and remember they are very excited too xxx

Linseyd · 23/11/2014 22:40

whoop whoop miss someone else from essex im from hornchurch hun when are you due im due july 1st got booking in on the 2nd and scan on 17th excited much xxx

mzzzf · 23/11/2014 22:42

Ladies I'm so new at all if this. When should I let the GP know? Do I wait until I'm 8 weeks?

Thankfully, one of the perks of nhs working means I've already been jabbed with all many of vaccinations already Grin so I'm not worried about that, more so doing things at the right time.

I have booked a private early scan, the week before Christmas to just put minds at rest, as its likely we'll tell the parentals over a mince pie!

TinyCaterpillar · 23/11/2014 22:57

Hi all. Feeling really rubbish today and now can't sleep as I had a two-hour nap around 5pm. Arrghhhh. Boobs are getting really sore too, have had to break out the sleep bras from previous pgs. So comfy!

broodylicious · 23/11/2014 23:00

Soz in advance for mammoth post....

Hello newbies Smile

Hi mzzzf, as it's your first, you could call for a GP appt then tell him, he will pass your details to the mw who will get you booked into a clinic for when you're around 8weeks. That's what I did with my first anywaySmile

lordy, helloSmile yes we are debating early scan too - I want to know everything is growing in there but at the same time, I've been on those horrid boards that no one wants to go on (post mc) and heard the exact reason why I avoided them first and second time round.... It's a quandary, that is for sure. I have a call with my mw tomorrow so I will discuss it with her and see what she suggests. I'm more inclined to do it if it's on the nhs than pay but I don't know if that's feasible.

scrivette hugs to you and your boy. I am dreading the days when dd gets the pox as she will need to be housebound - one thing that is bad for both of us! Thanks

purple, jealous - very jealous - of your dc sleeping. We are at my in laws while our house is being rewired, re plumbed and basically pulled apart and plastered together again and she has just gone backwards in her sleeping. I think we counted seven wakes last night. Crazy shit.

I forgot to tell you girls that I can't get a booking in appt at my surgery until I'm 10 weeks (no available appts, not their policy)!!!! WTAF!!! It is just ridiculous as I know for a fact it means I won't get my 12 week scan until I'm 14 weeks because of the incompetence of the local hospital admin involvedAngry Going to raise that during my call with the mw tomorrow too.

misseskimo · 23/11/2014 23:02

Pip are you from Essex too or just for the IVF? I read that the Fertility centre in Colchester is one of the best in the country and that people travel quite far to use it? (we were being referred at the same time we got a BFP)

Linsey I'm due 13th, got first mw apt on 3rd and 12wk on 30th meaning I'll miss a Christmas announcement :-( I used to work nearish Hornchurch, but job moved to Colchester hence us moving. This is #1 for me also

Mzzzf I rang ny Dr a few days after missed AF and had a BFP. They saw me 2days later to book in and get me on the system so that all the necessary things could be done i.e bloods, mw apt. And scans. Congrats and welcome btw!

Bustherb how frustrating for you! I really wanted to tell my parents today but just don't trust my mum... When we were thinking of getting engaged years ago, I mentioned to her in confidence and next thing I know I had family ringing to congratulate me! Not making the same mistake again! I'm sure its only because he is excited that he told, but I know how you feel

Pipbin · 23/11/2014 23:53

Miss. We are in Suffolk but there aren't any clinics here. The one in Colchester is an 'outpost' of Bourn Hall who invented IVF!

Bustherb. We told DHs mum, next thing I knew I was getting messages from extended family. But then most know that we have be having IVF so you can't really keep it secret.

GingerbreadHead · 24/11/2014 05:20

Anyone else up having a late night/early morning snack?! I am so so tired, feel absolutely exhausted but I just cannot get back to sleep. My brain is on overdrive, DH is breathing very irritatingly loudly next to me, and I had to give in to my rumbling tummy in the end. Going to attempt to get back to sleep but DD will be awake in a couple of hours. Sigh. I'm getting pretty fed up of this insomnia, when will it end!!!
Bustherb that is very annoying!! Can understand why you would be annoyed about that, it is your news to share! Hope you get an apology, or at least explanation!
broody Shock that is awful, and cannot be right!!? They must be able to squeeze you in somewhere before then. Hope you have more luck chatting to your mw today. Yep, also still debating over early scan. I will be 10 weeks on Christmas Eve so wondering about having one then, but is it just a awaste of money when I will only have 2 weeks to wait by then? Also going to see what the mw suggests when I see her, I doubt I'll get one on the NHS but I can't seem to get a grip on my anxiety at the moment.
mzzzf just give your local surgery a call, they will let you know what their protocol is and what to do next/who to contact.
miss no it can't come quick enough! Can't wait for December to arrive, feel like things will start moving a bit quicker then. I am actually wishing away Christmas so that I can get to 12 weeks!

WantToGoingTo · 24/11/2014 06:20

badidea I work full time - hard juggling work and study as is without a baby in the mix! But it will be worth it :)

I am so frightened and angry

After a couple of spots on Sat night DH made me ring NHS direct yesterday, who sent me to the OOH GP. She said to call EPU today

Anyway now DH has gone to work, leaving me all alone. Whether it is good news or not, I can't do this by myself. I have been crying since he left. To make matters worse he also took all his stuff to do his hobby tonight.

He wont be home until 1am

I don't know what to do

Leela5 · 24/11/2014 07:23

virtual it's a bit rubbish of him to do that, do you have someone else who could come with you to EPU if needed? My dh works shifts and ui had to take a friend when he wasn't able to come.

Have you called EPU?

VirtualPointyHat · 24/11/2014 07:30

they dont open until 8, so haven't called yet.

I only have one friend living locally and she doesn't know I am pg, and isn't in the country

DPs are a long way away, at work, and TBH if I tell them I know they will judge DH

Leela5 · 24/11/2014 07:33

Ok see what EPU say. If they say come in phone dh and tell him you need him to come. Sometimes I think they get used to us being strong and we need to remind them sometimes that we need them. Hope it goes ok. Spotting can be very common.

Zampa · 24/11/2014 07:43

Virtual I don't want to dismiss your fears but supposedly over 30% of women have spotting during pregnancy. I had some around 5 weeks and nothing for the past week. Fx for you but please don't worry too much. I think Leela's advice is spot on.

Bustherb · 24/11/2014 07:47

Thanks everyone, we did think he might blab because he did with his other son when they got pregnant. But we can't tell our other parents and not tell him. Yes I have told hubby that he needs to ring him today and say * text me last night saying congrats, how does he know? Good luck virtual xxxx Thanks

WantToGoingTo · 24/11/2014 07:59

virtual hope the EPU can put your fears at rest, it must be scary especially having to go on your own. I agree with others, if EPU are concerned and ask you to come in I would call DH and say that you really need his support. My DH sounds a bit like yours - I am sure he would do the same, go to work and then hobby, but I know that if I do have to go in cos EPU thought smth may be wrong or worth checking I know he would come. He probably doesn't realise how scary it is and assumes nothing wrong - I think it is a man thing! Good luck

VirtualPointyHat · 24/11/2014 08:13

thanks all

I get what you are saying, but yesterday it was me who was chilled out and wasn't going to ring doc, but he insisted, and now he has left em to deal with it IYSWIM

It's the "have a nice day" as he left the house that really hurt.

Anyway have left voicemail for EPU so just waiting for them to call back

Overtiredbackagain · 24/11/2014 08:38

Morning all, checking in and catching up.

Had a great day yesterday, managed to get loads done but was shattered by time I actually sat down!

Just feel like a constant hangover Confused

I had terrible insomnia with first two but from about six months onwards, and with second I remember having the most horrendous foot cramps in middle of the night - so bad they would make me sick so really hoping I manage to avoid them this time.

MW appointment next Tuesday, at which stage I will be 9 weeks, had to self-refer for hospital for scans etc but still no news on date for first scan Hmm

Bloody freezing down here today - first time needing to scrape the windscreen!

BadIdeaBear · 24/11/2014 08:55

We're crazy, aren't we, want!?

I'm still losing weight - it's all cos of the lack of booze! It's only tiny amounts at a time so not a worry but going down 1/4 of a lb every few days.

Number3cometome · 24/11/2014 08:59

linseyd & misseskimo I'm in Essex too!

I live near Wickford, so will be under Basildon unless I am sent back to Kings College again.

Feeling ok this morning swear I didn't POAS this morning Blush i must stop doing that

Boobs are a bit sore (woop) and can feel my lower abdomen hardening (obviously no bump at this stage but if I lean on the side when washing up it is uncomfy in that area)

Had to have a word with the OH about DTD, he got all silly about it saying he doesn't want to hurt the baby, I ended up in tears got my own way in the end though!

Must remember this may be my 3rd, but it is only his first.
Be nice number, be nice.
