Oh fleur, I'd have the same paranoia too!

I just did a bit of googling and decided to call the community midwife team myself rather than rely on GP receptionist. The lady was nice and said she completely understands my concerns and why I'd want to get into the system early. She didn't say it'd be an issue or impossible to get an early nhs scan (although she didn't say I'd get it either!) and then took my details and said they'd be passed on to the midwife tomorrow morning and they'll be in touch tomorrow or early next week.

I know I'm such a worry wart and this is not helpful for my stress levels (especially as I called at our said new home earlier and it's an absolute tip, with dust from the rewire, pipes for the bathroom and heating everywhere and a lovely big hole in the kitchen ceiling where my fil put his foot through the bathroom floor ydayShock). I will get better ladies, I promise. Last thing I want is sucking the positivity and loveliness out of this group with my stress and OTT concerns!

mzzzf · 20/11/2014 18:19

Afternoon ladies, I'm tentatively dipping my toe in the AN threads as I only recently got my BFP. Guesstimating at 3-4 weeks currently. To say I'm crapping myself might be an understatement Smile

MsRyanGosling · 20/11/2014 18:25

For some reason this thread keeps disappearing for me, gone from watched and gone from the AnteNatal Clubs page..

I can only get to it if I go into the old thread and find the link. Hmmm!

I am 8+1, had my booking in today - wasn't that impressed. I asked the mw about higher dose folic acid (due to high BMI) and she said "oh no, you don't I've not heard of that before..hang on let me check my guidelines.. oh yes you are right, I'm glad you said because I didn't know" Confused

I have also had a scan at EPU last week, due to right sided pain and 2 x previous CS. There were thoughts that the baby had implanted in the scarring or ectopic. However, the kidney bean with a heartbeat is in the right place!

But, they said I have a sub chorionic haemorrhage and didn't know how I have not been bleeding at all. It is approx. 4 times the size of the baby and to the right hand side. The mw said I should expect quite a bit of bleeding, like a full period.

Nothing yet, 7 days later. So I'm worrying if it is growing or not Sad According to Dr. Google, 80% of cases result in a successful pregnancy theres just a few negative outcome stories. Surely the bigger and further along the baby is the stronger position its in to stay in even when the haemorrhage comes away.

More positively, my seemingly constant nausea has lifted a bit today.

Good news Sdyer.

There must be something in the water in Bromley - I am from there too!

I have my doctors app on Monday.

I am also feeling ill all of the time and can't drink coffee which is awful - I am addicted to the stuff.

Unfortunately the smell of one of the people at work makes me feel worse (it did last time too) so I am trying not to breath when I am near her!

broodylicious · 20/11/2014 19:35

Welcome mzzzzfSmile so lovely to see you here xx

StoneBaby · 20/11/2014 20:18

Welcome to the newbies!

This thread is moving fast.

A bit low today as I had lots of cramping but I guess it's normal and I'm trying not to worry to much.

Time for bed :)

LizziTea · 20/11/2014 20:33

It's been good to read everyone's experiences. Can I ask for some advice? I'm due to be travelling see friends at the weekend - a 3 hour train journey on my own, with various bus/train connections. I was really looking forward to it, but it's been a rollercoaster week, with discovering I was pregnant at the beginning of the week, suspecting an ectopic shortly after, and now waiting for an early scan on Monday. I feel somewhat ill with some cramping and dizziness, but the midwife said there would be no harm in going away at the weekend if I want to. (She also said, rather alarmingly, to call immediately or get to A&E if I black out or have any sudden pain. How could I do that on a train, and how can I call if I'm on my own and black out?!)

I actually think that the cramps are probably simply a tummy bug and not something nasty like an ectopic, but even so I'm inclined to think that the best treatment for a tummy bug is curling up on the sofa, not a weekend of socializing and visiting friends who aren't meant to know I'm pregnant! On the other hand, I'm going to be really worried about the scan on Monday, and I'm attracted to the idea of a fun trip to take my mind off it.

I'm sorry for rambling on, but does anyone have any opinions? Would you take a trip at this stage of pregnancy, if you were feeling a bit rubbish and it wasn't essential? I know people say to avoid flying but this is a train. (Which can be worse, in my experience, at rush hour!)

Tiptoeshoes · 20/11/2014 20:42

Wowzers. Thread 2 filling up fast!

I'm six weeks now and feeling awful, loads of sickness, constant horrid taste, shattered. Took today off with after breaking down yesterday and having to tell my boss. She was really nice to me despite the fact she has repeatedly told me she didn't have any sickness during her 2 pregnancies. Isn't it funny she said? Well no actually it's not funny, it's miserable.

I was really sick last pregnancy too but felt fine by 16 weeks...so only 10 weeks to go then!!

scrivette · 20/11/2014 20:43

Lizzi I think that you just have to see how you feel. I must admit that I would be tempted to say that I had a stomach bug and pull out, although on the other hand, a weekend away with friends may be good for you to take your mind off of Monday a bit.

Tiptoeshoes · 20/11/2014 20:44

LizzieTea if it were me I wouldn't travel three hours in the train if I was feeling like you are. Your friend will be disappointed but say your unwell and later on you can tell her the full story and she will understand

naty1 · 20/11/2014 20:59

Wouldnt travel hrs on train if potentially stomach upset.
I think if you feel fine no prob

twinky12 · 20/11/2014 21:05

mzzzf congrats on your bfp.

Glad I'm seeing some similar symptoms. Can i add ohhhh the spots Grin still haven't been in touch with doc or midwife. Quite nervous about that right now my docs aren't the best.

itsnotthatdeep · 20/11/2014 21:19

Lizzie believe travelling on a train and needing to pee every thirty minutes isn't fun, I can't imagine it with sickness ConfusedConfusedConfused

I've felt really drained today, my friend did the school run for me and I went back to bed. My nausea is all over the place and today I've had stomach pains on and off, it's really disconcerting.

I don't remember this trimester being so hard first time round, but that might be because it was such a long time ago.

This is a surprise baby so it's taken a bit of getting used to being pregnant again, I'm really worried about the gap in ages too

Sorry I didn't mean to come and moan my head offSad

Tomorrow is my dads bday so out for drinks n fun stuff (so glad I'm not a big drinker or it would be a nightmare)

Zampa · 20/11/2014 21:20

LizzieTea Your symptoms sound very similar to mine. I've been feeling like that for about 5/6 days but it's now passing. I tucked myself up in bed and watched Sky box sets with a couple of paracetamol and wallowed! Indulge yourself and do what feels best.

lightgreenglass · 20/11/2014 21:56

Can I join ladies? Am 6 weeks today - due date the 16th July. DC2 - DS is 14 months so there will be a 21 month age gap - wish me luck!

Didn't expect it to happen in the first cycle - am over the moon but nervous!

Lots of crampy feelings, sore bad and bouts of tiredness - no morning sickness which I had with DS. Part of me thinks my morning sickness last time was down to those pregnacare tablets which I am not taking this time. Did anyone else have this with pregnacare? They were bloody massive!

Am going to get an early scan before Xmas and tell the family as one day with me and they'll guess as I'm always the one with a glass in my hand.

Pipbin · 20/11/2014 22:01

Lizzie I agree with Tiptoe. Call in the stomach bug and spend the weekend in bed with magazine and malteasers.

I've felt perfectly normal today, which is disconcerting.

I got to thinking today - I am a teacher and teach nursery. Is it worth getting the flu jab? I'm still under my IVF clinic until I have an 8 week scan when they discharge me back to my GP.

lightgreenglass · 20/11/2014 22:12

Pipbin - definitely worth it! My GP gave me a flu jab as soon as I told him I was pregnant.

Pipbin · 20/11/2014 22:15

I've got to go to the GPs with DH tomorrow so I might just talk to them then.

WantToGoingTo · 20/11/2014 22:16

Get the flu jab! I got mine free at work Grin perks of the NHS

OP posts:
smallgreenbanana · 20/11/2014 22:17

lightgreen yes to the darn pregnacare. I just switched to a simple folic and vitamin D today and I think it's helped avoid a bout of late night nausea. No more iron until trimester 2 I think! I just switched to pregnacare from Boots multi as that was giving me diarrhoea! What a pallaver. Smile

broodylicious · 20/11/2014 22:29

pipbin, it's standard to offer flu jab to preggos now, along with whooping cough jab, so your GP should be cool with you having it x

Pipbin · 20/11/2014 22:33

I am so damn old I actually had whooping cough!

I will try and call the IVF clinic tomorrow to be on the safe side.

naty1 · 20/11/2014 22:56

Not sure but having wc vacc in pg may also protect. Not sure if having the actual virus long ago will do the same.
Gp havent said anything about jab. Couldnt have at mo as im already too ill :(
Toddler just had nasal one , silly at 2.5 didnt sniff and think it came back out.

Im most prob immune to wc (think DMum said i had 1/2 jabs as child due to reaction but tjink i must have been in contact with it in 35yrs

Supershiv1 · 20/11/2014 22:57

Yay overtired and headlesschicken we can be the 'mature' members Wink. I've done well to remember your names as I scrolled down the page!
sophie they were good, but I wanted continuity of midwife and found out their midwives aren't allowed to be in hospital for the delivery as they aren't insured. If you were planning a home birth they could be with you but don't necessarily have mega strong pain relief to hand and if anything goes wrong they'd be calling an ambulance.
I had complications and had got close to my 121 midwife and they encourage you to call them rather than hospital if not feeling good. Well I didn't want to wake her up and ended up calling no one and having an early baby! But that's not their fault. They were good when I needed extra scans when baby didn't cooperate.

WantToGoingTo · 20/11/2014 23:09

Anyone else have racing heart? Ov been in bed for over an hour and it is beating so fast, like I've run around the block, and feels like it's going to burst out of my chest :( too hot and can't sleep as a result
