I think you would hear a heartbeat at 7 weeks... Not sure about internal or not - my mum said 8/9w is normal tummy ultrasound but not sure about 7. May depend on how much water you drink!

Hiya Kilicat! Glad you are having a scan FX. I had mine yesterday and it was an internal. Got some pics too and saw the flickering heartbeat x

Kilicat · 20/11/2014 11:37

Sdyer that's great news - very reassuring! Fx (and everything else) for mine tomorrow! Nothing was mentioned about drinking water so I am guessing it is likely to be internal (fun times!).

WantToGoingTo · 20/11/2014 11:40

Good luck kilicat! Fingers crossed everything is fine :)

I read that you can hear heartbeat at 6 weeks so 7 weeks must be straightforward, but I imagine NHS don't bother at 12weeks, that said I am sure the Windsors heard theirs at 12 weeks Smile

Envy [wink) of all the early appointment, my mw is 15th and first scan 29th dec, guess its 2 things to look forward to - xmas and scan.

All the best kilicat and yay to sdyer on hearing heart beat.

Number3cometome · 20/11/2014 12:06

Hi ladies, 7 weeks would normally be an internal dildo scan, with those you don't need to worry about how much water you drink.

Best of luck, I have had two of those and they weren't uncomfy.

I'm seeing the midwife next week (will be 6 + 3) so hoping to get an early scan a couple of weeks later all being well.

Feeling symptomless today which is unnerving, but no excuses for not going gym so will get my fat arse down there at lunch time. x

Bustherb · 20/11/2014 12:27

Thanks for all of your comments, I had a banana and have been eating little but often and I do feel better than I did yesterday. Can't believe how sick I am all day! Shock Not complaining though because it's a symptom Wink xx

Butler4 · 20/11/2014 12:31

Kilicat I have a stomach scan this week at 6w6 days. Went in expecting internal so was pleasantly surprised it wasn't. Saw heartbeat as well. Good luck tomorrow

Butler4 · 20/11/2014 12:32

Had not have! Nhs have been fab got an app at epu the same day

Number3cometome · 20/11/2014 12:47

Butler wow that's amazing!

I think it depends on the type of machine used and how old it is.

Not so sure my area will be as up to date Confused

sdyer · 20/11/2014 13:20

I know this is a really silly question but can you sleep on your tummy when you're pregnant? I've been avoiding it

Sarkymare · 20/11/2014 13:21

You can sleep on your tummy for as long as its comfortable sdyer.

If I remember rightly I slept on mine until about 20+ weeks last time.

Number3cometome · 20/11/2014 13:31

sdyer
Everyone is different, with DS I found it ok until about 16 weeks but with DD was much earlier. Feeling ok about it at the moment, but tend to sleep on my back anyway as I have a random clicking jaw cramp thing that happens (totally nothing to do with pregnancy)

x

Kilicat · 20/11/2014 13:54

Thanks for all the replies everyone - I guess I'll just have to wait till I get there to find out! Anyone got any experience with Eastbourne DGH? That's my closest and where the EPU is based.

sdyer · 20/11/2014 14:01

Thanks all x

Great news on hearing a heartbeat sdyer

kilicat I had a 7wk scan on Tuesday and that was external, saw heartbeat and visible evidence there's something growing in there on the scan. They actually dated me at 6wks based on the image, so i can definitely confirm you can have a normal external scan and see both baby and heartbeat at 6wks Grin I also only had 1l of water before scan, so wasn't overly full of water!

Overtiredbackagain · 20/11/2014 16:21

I want a scan Hmm [stamps her foot sulkily on floor]

Leela5 · 20/11/2014 16:21

So glad you're posting about dizziness today! First time today I've felt dizzy and spaced out with ringing in right ear! Good to know others are getting this Grin

broodylicious · 20/11/2014 16:21

deep, I'm a midlander!! Whoop whoop to another in the groupSmile

I can vouch for those seasickness bands, they really work. Also, I lived off beige stuff and orange calippos in the first trimester - the calippos were literally a life saver but I did have to eat them secretly because my colleagues would've sussed me out!

Called my GP yday to check that I'm now registered on their books (we've just moved house so needed to get our files over to the new surgery). To say the receptionists are less than helpful and polite would be an overstatement.... I asked if the mw had been asked to call me in order to arrange an early appt so I can get an early scan booked and I was greeted with such a shitty attitude. I think if I don't hear back by Monday or Tuesday, I'm going to make an appt with a GP and get myself sorted that way.

Leela5 · 20/11/2014 16:22

Sdyer that's lovely Smile

broodylicious · 20/11/2014 16:39

Oh yay sdyer! I hadn't seen your post from earlier! How fantasticSmile

Number3cometome · 20/11/2014 16:41

Leela5 I keep getting a high pitched ringing in my ears too, was terrible in the bath last night!

Pipbin · 20/11/2014 16:57

Can you get a private one Overtired?

Fleurchamp · 20/11/2014 16:57

Ah broody how rubbish.

I have just bumped into my Dr (in my office) quite disconcerting.

I said a rushed hello and got the hell out of dodge. He is now having a meeting with my boss and I am panicking that he is going to tell her (clearly he won't, but still).

The joys of living and working in a small place Smile
