We haven't bought one yet but think we've decided we're going to go for a Mamas and Papas Sola2. Need to check it fits in the car boot easily before we buy but pretty sure on it. We're hoping it may be reduced in January sale so holding off to buy, but have seen a package offer on pramcentre.co.uk for the pushchair, carrycot and Cabriofix car seat and adapters which comes in cheaper than buying in store so will probably go for that if no better offers.

Lindalove · 19/11/2014 08:02

rusty my scan was standard NHS but at the UCLH they have the ability to give you a basic 3D scan from their 'normal' scanners. I thought it was pretty good really!

I'm getting my pushchair second hand from my SIL I think it's a BugaBoo. Need to figure out how to fit it to the campervan as the back seats won't fit the Bugaboo car seat attachment so I guess we'll have to use the front seat pushed right back away from the crash air balloons

Hidingthefear · 19/11/2014 08:05

Thanks daholster very useful info, I'm deco shifting more and more towards breastfeeding and realising that it needn't be as scary as some people make out.

Haha boomonster if I had a pound for every thimerosal I was told to eeat ginger I could furnish the nursery for free. Ivery not had any sickness tablets, not sure what I can take and the midwife didn't seem bothered by daily vomiting. Basically I'm just unlucky.

Yeah rustyzilla I got mine from mammas and pappas I think it's called the sola or something and it was £300 for a full set. And personal after pushing prams all over the place I proffered it to the silver ccross initially wanted (which really surprised me) and preferred it to the city jogger, I candy and the bugaboo

Zoom trio it's called

kismac · 19/11/2014 08:17

Our favourite so far is City Jogger. Think hubby said there is a mothercare sale on at moment, so think that's our weekend sorted. Its our one year wedding anniversary too, how romantic. Ha ha.

BananaToast · 19/11/2014 08:40

I think there's something quite lovely about spending your first anniversary buying a pram!

smogsville · 19/11/2014 08:52

Hiding - without wanting to sound like some kind of lunatic bf evangelist, if you can get the hang of it and work through the first couple of weeks of pain when baby latches on, it's an absolute dream. Medella nipple shields are useful to buy before baby comes to help with initial pain.

I'm no hippie (v much looking forward to my very medicalised planned section) but there is something rather marvellous about feeding your LO all by yourself. Also you don't have to worry about poisoning baby by mistake by sterilising wrong.

To say nothing of the fact that it's free!

Does mean all night feeds are your responsibility of course. And might not work if you plan to go back to work before a year.

If like me you're greedy and a little bit vain, it means you can eat like a pig after baby born and still lose weight.

Jealous of all these new prams. Can't justify spending on a new one here when a perfectly good one is up in the loft and from six months baby will be straight into the very light and easy to use Maclaren anyway.

BrixtonBunny · 19/11/2014 09:03

I think our (my) heart is still set on a uppababy vista - I've heard nothing but great things about them!

20 weeks today - cannot believe that little bloblet is half cooked already!! I feel like the last few weeks have raced by. Is there not a pause button I can press? Six more days until scan, very excited to start talking about names properly.

20 weeks! X

TinyTear · 19/11/2014 09:09

I shall say again, I LOVE LOVE LOVE my Uppababy Vista
Grin

I need to get the buggy board for it

Siarie · 19/11/2014 09:15

I'm waiting until my 20 week scan (17th dec) as I'm on holiday until then before we buy the travel system. But we went to go look at it on the weekend. Really happy, we need to change our car anyway so have requested some brochures from Audi for a bunch of models.

Deffo going for the Stokke Xplory, it's got the highest price tag but I think it will benefit our way of living best. Really flexible and I want the baby to be facing me and up high so I can keep that contact when out and about. Also works well for restaurant feeding as it can be made into a high hair. So no need to ask for one of those!

I love all the accessories as well, they have a cup holder that sits on the front. The changing bag attaches nicely and lots of lining options to keep baby cosy in different weather. Highly recommend you check it out if you want something eye catching and changeable.

Feels like an age until 20 weeks but it's not really. Only reason I'm waiting is in case they find anything really badly wrong.

TinyTear · 19/11/2014 09:21

me and my Uppababy just over a year ago... I was running a 5 mile race - not with pram though...

TinyTear · 19/11/2014 09:23

And my DD faced me until she was about 17 months and was turning and turning to try and see where we were going Grin

I also love the Stokke, but it's not as good in rugged terrain

BrixtonBunny · 19/11/2014 09:25

The stokke looks like it's just for very little babies, can you use it for as long? X

CherryLips1980 · 19/11/2014 09:40

We have the Stokke Xplory, I bloody love it. We ALWAYS get people coming up to us and asking about it. BrixtonBunny, DD is just over a year now and still fits in beautifully. It reckons it can take up to 15kg and DD is just over 8.5kg now. Completely echo what TinyTear said about it not being good in rugged terrain though - we ended up having to get a cheap Graco off eBay for dog walks. We have the iZi Sleep car seat as well, which I am equally in love with but it's bloody heavy. DD only gets carried out to the car and straight from car-frame. I'm not weak (at all!) and I really struggle carrying her in it.

I'm bloody knackered today and still have this lingering dry cough. Can not get started at work at all. Currently the only one in the office, hence MN & FB time Blush.

upduffedsecret · 19/11/2014 10:18

I'm leaving pram-buying until the last minute... hoping my 2 year old will be able to use the buggy board by then, so baby can go in the zeta vooom we already have... it'd save money.

Rustyzilla · 19/11/2014 10:55

misty and linda - they are great pics! Doubt my hospital offers 3D for 20w scan but I do have a 3D one booked for mid January Grin

Siarie the Stokke does look great but sadly a bit out of our price range! I'd also love to look at the Uppababy but Mothercare don't stock them and I am tied to buying from there because of the discount I get. hiding interesting to hear what you say about the Mamas & Papas one versus the Silver Cross. I am looking at the SC Wayfarer as it is quite light, offers a travel system and isn't too big when folded, but I have heard mixed reviews...

smogsville · 19/11/2014 11:16

If you're on a buggy budget and considering getting a sling of some sort too it's worth remembering that from six months they can go in a cheap (and light, small and easy to fold) Maclaren (or similar). So could get a cheapo pram with a view to not using it a great deal by relying on sling a lot of the time until you reach six months.

It's probably what I would do if I had my first time mum time again.

Siarie · 19/11/2014 11:48

Brixton I'm pretty sure they say it's fine for up to 4 years (depending on weight). Various parts on it expand like the foot rest and you take the newborn insert out to make more room. It's meant to be very comfy, but yeah I have heard about the off road issue. We live in London and don't go for walks in forests so should be ok, also I'm getting the Stokke carrier so Dh can always carry her if we want to go off road anywhere for a picnic or something.

Rusty There are plenty of lovely options for less, I just love the look and design. If we couldn't afford it we would buy cheaper though, we are really lucky these days that there are so many options!

Cherry thats great to hear, I loved that I could push it around with one hand. It feels really solid and interesting about the car seat. I've added the small one izi go? We don't use the car much and it will stay in the car but I think it's lighter than the izi sleep. We may have to upgrade it sooner though as its smaller than the izi sleep I think?

cinnamongreyhound · 19/11/2014 12:17

My friend was stuffed with her Stokke in the snow two years ago :( my three wheeler was tough but doable but it depends how much you'll be walking. I walk a lot, to school and back and the dogs but I'm hoping to use the sling for dog walks as my little un is a bit of a pain on lead. My big boy you can clip his lead onto the mummy clip and not know he's there push with both hands :) I only use pushchair for work now as ds2 is 4 and will walk miles!

lila35 · 19/11/2014 12:21

We are planning on getting the Baby Jogger City Mini GT in this red, 3 of my friends have had it in the various models and have nothing but praise for it, my friends 2 year old is still in hers daily so looks to be a good investment and has lots of bits to add on, as and when we need them, like the belly bar, cup holders etc etc. And it can be folded up with one hand whilst holding a baby ( I have seen it done!!) and its really light.

FreedomHuntress · 19/11/2014 12:30

We had the Stokke Xplory for DS. It is beautiful. For towns. Not great on rugged terrain at all. I did manage fine in deep snow though. DS is four, and climbed in the other day as we dusted it off for DD. He is tall, and fitted in fine. One of the tyres is broken though, so that's really disappointing considering the price tag - thought I was paying for quality. Probably paid more for style, but man, does it look beautiful!

Hidingthefear · 19/11/2014 12:42

smogsville Yeah i'm just hoping i can find some support groups up here to help with the breastfeeding morale. And I do really want DH to be part of feeding so I may express some or allow the odd formula feed here and there without affecting my supply too much. and I will be going back to work before 12months so it will have to switch to formula after 6 months as I can't be expressing at work and it's probably one less thing to stress about at work and organising with a childminder/nursery.

Do any of you already have slings and if so where did you buy them from? I'm interested in maybe getting one for when I'm walking the dog during the day and wondered if there were any recommendations.

p.s just picked up my bounty pack from Asda and i think it's brill : ) Defo go get one if you haven't already.
