Hiding I went back to work when DD was just over 8 months and I never expressed at work... By then the supply was well established and I fed her morning, hometime, bedtime and once or twice in the night and it was enough to keep it up.
At nursery they gave some formula but as she didn't like bottles she didn't take much and waited for me :-)

CherryLips1980 · 19/11/2014 12:53

Hiding , we managed to get a Stokke sling/carrier really cheaply at a M&P (I think) outlet because someone had spilt bleach or something on it (teeny mark!). DP loves it and will take her out in it when he walks the dog (we walk a lot in forest land) and is quite happy with it but I'm not so keen on it Blush for reasons I can't really explain. The one and only walk I've done with it she screamed the whole way round and I ended up having to carry her (thank God for a dog who is good off lead in open spaces). She did need a change by the time we got back to the car though, so that may be relevant.

I'm tempted to get a different carrier for #2 (a ring sling) and see how we get on with that - I don't want to lose my [heart] Stokke and haven't seen a double one I really like yet, although I haven't really looked at all that hard. I don't want one child where one travels under the other though.

Hmm I have a question for those who have already had at least one baby. Do you ever go back to your original bra size?

TinyTear · 19/11/2014 13:49

Siarie, I will tell you when i stop breastfeeding Grin

CherryLips1980 · 19/11/2014 13:53

My boobs never changed size :(

daholster · 19/11/2014 14:00

siarie my boobs have sadly never been the same Sad They used to be awesome pert 34Bs! When I was breastfeeding I went up to a 36E Shock and they returne. To a 34-36C but not pert... Having said that I didn't get back to my pre pregnancy weight, I was about 5 pounds heavier. Still I don't think they will ever be the same. But dd is worth it!

Tiny snap! I love my uppababy vista! We have an orange one! (Drew) Its by far the easiest to push out of all I tried (which was pretty much everything except a bugaboo) and is good enough on rough terrain (though if you want an off roader then get one for walks etc - but things with inflatable tyres are much harder to push in shopping centres than the average solid wheel) - the Uppababy's wheels are solid but large which really helps and you cab lock the front wheels for bumpy ground so they don't get all out of sync. It's got a huge basket and I love that it can be forward or rear facing. dd faced me til she was one then got bored. I've got no idea how on earth you get your lo to stay in a buggy, mine absolutely will not at 18 months, she's been on reins since 14 months and everything is so slow.... Hoping she will take to the buggy board, I am sure she will. Might get a rumble seat for just in case but at the moment I can't see the point since she won't sit in it out of the house! In the hall, yes... So it's gone in the loft! Strange to think that next time we get it down it will be with the carry cot again!

In fact dd has today refused to walk with reins, or hold my hand, and lies on the floor if I try to so either of the above. Then when I picked her up instead (she kindly agreed... She's of a weight and strength where if she doesn't I definitely need both arms to manhandle her to safety!) And had shopping in the other hand, within 30 secs she has worked out how to turn herself upside down so her head is pointing towards the floor and my arm round her waist and slipping... Twice in succession...All this is not good for a skslightly leaky pelvic floor! Blush I definitely have to work on that before this one arrives!!! Trouble is it made me laugh too, partly out of sheer frustration! Eventually I was a bad mummy and gave her a fruit smoothie to occupy her mind while I guided her towards the car park. Good grief am I glad we are home, I have a cup of tea and she is asleep!!! I think that unless I can put her in a trolley in a supermarket I won't take her shopping on my own for another few months, it's too hard!

When we looked at the Stokke it was quite wobbly. I wonder if the shop had put it together wrong? Wouldn't swap my Uppababy though! Though sometimes wonder if I should have got a different colour... Nice to be different though and great being visible on the roads!

19+1

upduffedsecret · 19/11/2014 14:06

great... flu jab due friday afternoon.
gone down with flu-type symptoms yesterday (nearly collapsed fetching eldest from school)

and oh the joys! stress incontinence has arrived. not good when I'm sneezing and coughing almost constantly

daholster · 19/11/2014 14:12

Poor you upduffed! Yep I have the leaky issue too... Mostly laughing while standing or bending is the problem... Well, laughter taking me by surprise isn't helping either! Hope you feel better soon, happily my cold is nearly gone at last, morning stuffed nose and night time cough remain...

Baby is having a good kick and wriggle Grin such a wonderful feeling!

upduffedsecret · 19/11/2014 14:20

pads on my boobs to stop them hurting, pads in my knickers to stop me leaking into clothes... tissues for my nose....

maybe I should just swaddle myself in loo roll and be done! ;-)

when are we supposed to glow, exactly? ;-)

londonlivvy · 19/11/2014 14:25

Sairie re bra sizes, sort of. I was a 30FF when on the pill. Tremendous boobs, though I say so myself. Pretty pert and full. Came off the pill and went to 30F. Grew throughout pregnancy to a ginormous 32J. When I stopped bf I was a 30F (on the pill) but a much sadder type of boob. A flatter, more spaniels ear sort of boob. Makes me a bit sad. A push up bra just kinda created a crepey kind of effect so had to get rid of lots of cleavage type tops or dresses that just didn't work any more.

Now I'm in the growth phase again and back to 32G already.

So basically, same size, but not same boobs. But DD is worth it!

Siarie · 19/11/2014 14:30

Looks like I need to factor in a boob job sooner or later then lmao! I was 34B before I'm now up to a 36C. Most of the growth has been my rib cage changing shape as I don't have any fat on my band area and also my boobs growing.

smogsville · 19/11/2014 14:41

What londonlivvy said re boobs. God knows what they'll look like after another year of bf! Oh well. Still far too lazy to contemplate bottles so I guess it must be worth it.

Hiding there are usually bfing 'cafés' - maybe ring local health visitor team and ask ahead of time so you're prepared? Or NCT?

by the way, it's is pregnancy which ruins boobs, not breastfeeding, breastfeeding actually delays the sagging effect

Lauren82000 · 19/11/2014 15:31

Got to agree with you ladies, your boobs are never the same again. Mine went from 32B to 34E with DD(including bf for 14 months) then they shrank right back down to 32B but much sadder than before. As soon as I got pregnant this time they have filled up quite nicely again, not quite pert but my nipples aren't pointing down just yet so its all good.

My friend who didn't bf her two lost all her boobs going from a 34C to a 32A. Last I heard she was looking at having a boob job as she was very self conscious of them and basically wore a bra all the time just to make them have some shape.

We had a bit of a panic at work this morning, my fellow pregnant colleague went for her 16w appointment this morning and the mw couldn't find the hb! Because she hadn't been having much movement and this is her 3rd they sent her up to the hospital, where it took 2 mw and 3 different dopplers before they managed to find it. So panic averted. It's very stressful being pregnant with someone you work with in case anything happens to theirs and then they have to watch you grow big and round and then bring your baby round at the end.

We also got some more bad news last night, DH's auntie has got breast cancer, they are still in the test stages so don't know what kind or any other details just yet. But I feel so sorry for her, she has special needs (never know the PC term to use to describe her.) and was already diagnosed with schizophrenia on top of her existing mental state this year. I swear we couldn't of picked a worse year to get married when all this bad stuff has happened. DH's step dads dad died earlier in the year and then his brother died on Monday; his Step mum was diagnosed with cancer in her lung and brain, his auntie got diagnosed with schizophrenia, we lost 2 babies and now this. Not a good year at all for DH's family. Sad

daholster · 19/11/2014 15:42

Wow Lauren what an awful year. But you can at least be happy that you getting married has been a happy thing to have happened in a dreadful year. Thinking of you and in particular your poor dh. Hopefully it will have been caught early and will work out ok.

Lauren82000 · 19/11/2014 15:56

I do keep thinking that its a nice thing daholster but I'm worried it will be forever tainted by all the bad. At least we are at MILs for Christmas this year so he can spend pretty much all day with them.

Speaking of Christmas I have found an excellent starter on the tesco website. Roasted fig with crisp parma ham. (its a posh looking salad and the ham is cooked which is a bonus bit.ly/QUGGOu ) I really don't like prawn cocktail and last time I went to MIL's for Christmas dinner I didn't get a starter as DH clearly forgot to tell her and I didn't think ahead to bring my own. But this year I am prepared and shall bring my own starter. It might be the only thing I get to eat as I really don't like her cooking and Christmas dinner is always cold and soggy. shudder She does feed the 5000 though so I guess its difficult to keep warm, but she won't let anyone help and you get shoo'd out of the kitchen if you try. Think this year there is going to be 15 of us, who knows where we're all going to sit. I'll probably be on the kiddie table with DD!

Hiding a sling library will show you different types of sling and let you hire one to try out. It's worth considering whether you want the simplicity of a full buckle carrier (Tula, Ergo, Connecta, Manduca, Lillebaby etc.) where you just have two buckles to do up, or a woven wrap where you have to learn to tie it but with the trade off of greater comfort and more types of carry. Then there are ones in between such as mei tais which have a panel with long tails to tie it on, or ring slings which are basically a loop of material that you tighten around you. A stretchy wrap (Moby, Close Caboo, K'Tan, KariMe) is great for newborns as you can pretie it and leave it on then pop baby in and out without having to retie.

Funnnily enough I thought you couldn't have boursin!!! That fig and Parma ham salad thing sounds amazing... Recipe please? Is there a link? Sounds yummy!

We are having everyone to ours for Christmas dinner. Most of dh's family are away for Christmas - brother with gf's family on a cruise, aunt away in Spain for Christmas, other family therefore all splitting off with their young ones. So MIL and FIL with us, then my mum and dad, aunt and uncle and family friend who is otherwise alone. And me, dh and dd! It's the first Christmas without grandma so we thought it would be least traumatic if we invited everyone here for it to be totally different. And dd will probably be happier that way too. The deal is that we split the cost and people bring starters and side dishes and desserts, we'll cook the turkey, stuffing, parsnips and potatoes! Mum has already ordered and paid for the turkey Grin I'm excited! Going to try to find some non alcoholic mulled wine. I wonder how long you have to mull normal mulling wine it for the alcohol to be gone...?

BananaToast · 19/11/2014 17:38

Sorry you've had such a bad year Lauren - that's a lot to deal with never mind with getting married and being pregnant.

I'm off to my first prenatal yoga class tonight, quite looking forward to it. Then in the morning, at the ripe old age of 18+2, I am finally having my 16 week appointment (late because of my holiday). Really hope the midwife will listen for the heartbeat to keep me going til my scan.

Wineandchoccy · 19/11/2014 17:42

Lauren I hope 2015 is a better year for you

I can recommend www.purpless.co.uk for maternity clothes. I ordered a dress on Monday and it arrived today and fits perfect. I got the graphite grey formal dress for work, I think I will order some more colours now I know they fit ok.
