The John Lewis ad made me cry too. I can't blame it on being pregnant though as I cry every year. I got Monty and Mabel for my DD yesterday (there are lots of penguins in her books).

I had slight bleeding gums just before my BFP last time and this time but only a one-off each time. I'm due a check up soon anyway. I'm currently wearing braces (going through it again after wearing them as a teenager!) so even more at risk of problems. I made an appointment yesterday and as we don't need exemption cards for anything here I asked if I needed to bring proof I was pregnant - they said I don't as long as I'm showing! I'm not yet but the appointment is in a month so we'll see...

Hello all, MW came to our house to finish off the booking in appt. Told her about my anxieties and worries about being an older mum and reactions as well as any implications for the baby due to my age. Not to mention finding pregnancy one long worry and she was really nice. Had bloods taken. Ouch! I told her about my self diagnosis and we had a chuckle and she reckons it's ligaments. She's quite a cool MW, funky and I think likes rock music.

I am also going to discuss the option of a VBAC. Both my previous wee sections. Not sure how I feel about it tbh.

Ooh I have a scan date Smile 1st December.

After worrying myself ill with dd I am being surprisingly blasé about this one. Hope it doesn't come back to bite me. I just feel so rough all the time I feel it's proof I'm still pg!!

Tori I do waterbabies with my toddler so it's not exactly hardcore training for me Wink

Must plan my lessons for the rest of the week now while dd naps and must resist temptation to nap myself

PerpetualStudent · 11/11/2014 14:14

Glad your supervisor is being supportive Tori I'm in the third year of my PhD and had a nervy conversation with the conveyor of an MA course I supervise on today - she wanted me to come back to work with more students next year (April-Sept) and I had to admit there might be a bit of disruption in the middle of that!!

She has a little girl herself and was very excited and supportive, which was nice. She is also, by coincidence my supervisor's wife, but has sworn to keep quiet until I next meet with him!

Feeling a real mix of excitement, it's so nice to talk about it, makes it feel real - on the other hand until my scan next week I still have this stupid dread that I'm somehow jinxing it!

PS on the crying issue - I haven't dared look at the John Lewis ad yet, but was in bits yesterday over our never-ending flat renovation :(

Hi ladies

Just popping by to say hello Smile hope you're all well.

Will catch up on thread later when on train back from work.

I've found morning sickness has really tailed off now (9 weeks today) which is a relief but also a source of worry in itself as we all know.

I've had nhs scan 12 week scan date confirmed for 2 dec. however, after much debating have also decided to go ahead with harmony package at fetal medicine center. So have 10 week scan and bloods on 20 nov and then follow up scan at 13 weeks with professor on 10 December.

It's getting v hard to take time off work due to all these hospital apps (also have to see consultant for underactive thyroid and various other health conditions) so have resorted to taking annual leave...

Hi all - just checking in with a few moans and questions:

1 - The horrendous tiredness seems to be back - last time it turned out that I was anaemic and after I started taking iron tabs I felt like a new woman - this was at about 9w - I'm 10+6 now - do you think it's worth asking for bloods to be done again to see if it's got worse and that's why I'm tired or should I just accept that a easy breazy pregnancy is an unattainable dream?

2 - Got a wedding in December - when I will be 16+1 - I'd quite like to go a bit sparkly but not got anything suitable for winter so was thinking of buying something new - do you think I will need it to be mat wear by then? I can feel my bump at the moment but it's not visible (there's a later of fat in the way and even then it's only very slight) - it's my first baby.

3 - I miss fags and booze. I am not having them and I'm planning to stay off the fags once the baby's born too but I miss them. It feels good saying so. So there.

ememsmum · 11/11/2014 15:39

Am thinking I may tell a few more people at work. Am on my 6th day off in 2 weeks. Feel nauseous, dizzy and am breathless going up and down the stairs. Am usually quite fit. 9+5 today, wasn't going to say anything til after scan, but as my GP said they might take pity on me. I'd love them to turn the heating down for starters, ha ha. Am sure lots of people are suspicious anyway. Arrgghh, so torn. I wasn't this bad last time around so it wasn't an issue.

PerpetualStudent · 11/11/2014 15:40

purple the minute I stop feeling sick I start craving a fag and a glass of red! Was only a social/occasional smoker so glad of the excuse to stop, but doesn't stop me missing it!

purplebiro · 11/11/2014 15:48

For some reason the nausea makes me crave a fag. And I tried to have a cider the other day and did a prompt upchuck after half a glass (and I pride myself on my strong stomach). Stupid body. Roll on 2nd trimester.

cuphat · 11/11/2014 15:57

The JL advert is on youtube (I don't watch adverts on TV).

I'm really worried about my scan too, it's next Friday.

Careful with that mouthwash, sunbathing. I tried it years ago, followed the instructions exactly (didn't drink coffee etc) and it still stained my teeth. Not permanently though! Had happened to others too on googling so not just me.

Purple, it's worth asking but here they take your blood at the 12 week scan anyway. Personally I'd wait till a bit nearer the time re the outfit. It depends what style you'd go for; I got away with wearing non-maternity but slightly floaty stuff for a while last time (I have a slim upper body).

WigglyBraddins · 11/11/2014 16:04

pas DH is really into cycling and does a lot of mountain biking. It's funny because while I'm on Mumsnet he's on single track forum...which is pretty much dadsnet. He bought me a new mountain bike so he can spend even more time in the garage fiddling but I'm not allowed on it yet because he needs to change the handle bars. Sad about your bike tho. You must miss it.

ots you do have an excitin job! A couple of mums at nursery are cabin crew (one Monarch and one BA) and they had to tell work straight away and were put on ground duties. One was already pregnant with number 2 when her maternity leave finished so went straight back to ground duties!

If someone could add me to the stats that would be great:

WigglyBraddins
35
1 DS already, 2.5
Edd 19th June
12 week scan 4th Dec (although that may move to later)

I'm suffering with the crippling tiredness. Had 8.5 hours sleep last night (unheard of for me) and am still shattered. Makes me long for a job where I can get home from work and go straight to bed!

Huge hugs for everyone who is anxious and emotional. Today we're pregnant.

purple I didn't really show til 20 weeks but I had to go into my maternity jeans at 17 weeks as could not do normal jeans up. In fact a couple of weeks before that I was holding trousers together with a hair tie to allow a bit more space, but then the waistband on my work uniform was/is ridiculously tight anyway. I had quite good abs then though...those were the days...

We did take a few bump shots throughout the pregnancy. Must have a look and remind myself when my tummy appeared properly.

cuphat · 11/11/2014 16:24

With regards to showing, it seems to really vary for everyone. I'll have to look back through my photos to see when it was obvious for me.

I follow a blog where the lady is 30 something weeks pregnant, really slim and still in her usual trousers! That was definitely not the case for me! My trousers are already a bit tight where they do up, I'm tempted to get the maternity trousers out soon.

One of my friends (also really slim) didn't tell people until after her 20 week scan - you couldn't even tell she was pregnant! So there doesn't seem to be a rule when it comes to size.

GuybrushThreepwoodMP · 11/11/2014 16:49

Cyclists, can I have your opinion? I was planning to get a new bike in Jan- a CX or possibly a tourer- nice and light with drop handles. My family and dh are all chipping in as a birthday present. Is that a really stupid idea? I don't think I'll be able to ride it until after baby due to the riding position and also the fact that I'm very used to my hybrid and might be a bit wobbly! I will be able to get riding when baby is here (as soon as vagina allows...) because I have a trailer. Was thinking of getting a turbo trainer for the interim and using it to regain fitness.
Or should I just wait until I go back to work the following January when I'll be using it to commute again?

WillowHouse · 11/11/2014 16:52

I would wait before buying - i carried both dds quite far back and didn't have bump at all until well into the 7th month when i literally bloomed overnight! I did lose 2 stone with dd1 and 3 stone with dd2 mind so that probably contributed. This time i've already got a bump at 9+5.

ChatEnOeuf · 11/11/2014 17:07

I have just had a two-hour nap! This is unheard of in our house, but DH sent me upstairs as I looked so rough Blush.

I started showing at about 26 weeks first time around, but needed bigger bras quite early on. In contrast, my friend had her first a few weeks back and was quite obviously sporting a bump at her shotgun wedding at 16 weeks Grin So everyone's different, wait until the week before!

Orville how exciting! When well I'd love it. But right now that's my idea of hell - constant nausea on an aeroplane followed by obligatory socialising when knackered. Don't know how you're doing it.

GuybrushThreepwoodMP · 11/11/2014 17:22

No bump here at 9+1. Not even the slightest swelling. Was swelling by about 11 or 12 weeks last time but not properly showing until about 26 weeks. I started this pregnancy about 8kg lighter than last time so not sure what difference that will make.

BingoBonkers · 11/11/2014 17:28

I'm showing. Badly. Heaven knows how big I'm going to get. I feel like Augustus what's his name from Willy Wonka.

Felt much better than normal this morning but now whilst making tea for the DC I could happily throw up. I feel so sick. Woe is me!
