Just had a chat with Lucy5 and we decided that the old thread was getting too long and taking forever to load so here's a new one for all of us.

Hope everyone's well, nothing to report from me, everything's going smoothly still so far.

Not long now until we get the first of the birth announcements!!

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Olihan · 10/10/2006 21:08

Yup, goes with the territory I think . I have to change my knickers sometimes, especially as I've found that wearing pantyliners gives me thrush for some reason. There's TMI, if ever I saw it!!

OP posts:
Redlorry75 · 10/10/2006 21:12

Am wearing pantyliners and use femcare wipes daily, but sometime I like to go commando but there's no feeling of freshness - just.... here we go with TMI again that - just that after sex wet feeling, and trust me DH has not been allowed near me in that way since conception!

accessorizequeen · 10/10/2006 21:17

RL, was eating toastie when you posted about plug urggghh.
Devil wears prada was fab, really enjoyed it, am going to try to get to lots more movies before I'm due!
Have been reasonably breathless too, I think it's having a 6lb baby pressed against your lungs, but if you're coughing as well Eliboo, sounds like could be something more. Think there's any link with iron deficiency, after all lungs wouldn't be working as well? Or is my knowledge of biology rubbish...

Redlorry75 · 10/10/2006 21:21

AQ, thanks for making me laugh - sorry about your toastie though.

I was a bit tearful due to todays antics of my boss!

accessorizequeen · 10/10/2006 21:26

S'alright RL, I laughed too
He's a bastard, every time you speak to him he's sending your bp up, he just doesn't give a toss - why on earth should he be ringing someone who's at home sick anyway? If you had ansaphone or message minding then your friend could still get through couldn't she? Or perhaps she could text you to say it's her ringing and otherwise you ignore the calls from work? He doesn't have your mobile no does he? Can you just go out for the day tomorrow by yourself or with DD so you're not anywhere near the phone? ((Hug))

Redlorry75 · 10/10/2006 21:33

Well he;s not doing himself any favours as I am on the brink of asking GP for sick leave until 36wks. Also phoning Union tomorrow to see if his behaviour borders on harrassment!
Have just posted under Employment issues to see what others think!

catkins1000 · 10/10/2006 21:51

RL, I work in HR and it sounds like your boss doesn't have a clue - can you talk to your HR people at work? He needs to understand that you are off sick, which means that it is ok to keep in touch, i.e. how are you, can we help with anything (every now and then) but he should NOT be calling you for work related questions. I am sure your TU rep will say exactly the same thing. I'd go to your TU rep or HR to intervene first and see what happpens, but don't let him pester you this way! It always makes me mad when I hear of stupid insensitive bad managers - how do they get these jobs???

Eliboo · 10/10/2006 22:16

First, thanks all for rseponding re breathlessness. Feels like I'm living in a sauna sometimes. GP listened to chest and said clear, but heart sounds 'wide apart' whatever that means - he didn't seem worried. He did think it was lack of iron, plus tiredness from cough virus, I'm probably just panicking - get mad fears about dying and leaving dd probably guilt about having another baby at Advanced Maternal Age combined with bogstandard hypochondria combined with 32-week panic. Reality checks are GOOD.

And on that note, RL, no reality check can possibly be too personal on MN, I don't think I've done threadworms, boobs, bad mummy stuff....discharge? Pah! I've been through phases of exactly what you describe, though have to say its eased off here - mine was worse in second trimester. And on a totally different subject, I'm so sorry you have that kind of a boss...you definitely don't need that.

Eliboo · 10/10/2006 22:22

I'm still Elibean by the way, was just thinking Halloween-ishly but should really make the 'b' a capital. Pregnancy has done bad things to my brain as well as lungs...

jabberwocky · 10/10/2006 22:30

Eliboo, I cough with my asthma. Have you ever had coughing, wheezing with physical activity before? I have to use my inhaler once a day now, usually at night.

lucy5 · 10/10/2006 23:27

Omg, i've got a lot of catching up to do.

Eli , sorry i still haven't done the cat so here is my e mail, I think it will be quicker. lucyhardwicke5 at hotmail dot com.

Hope everyone is feeling ok, will read all the posts and then add something constructive

Calmriver · 11/10/2006 08:02

Good morning Girls,

How did you all sleep last night?

RL-hope your boss backs off!!!

I got decent sleep last night and then DD1 jumped in our bed and in her sleep kicked my tummy which then woke DD2 up, who almost instantly got hiccups and wriggled for a couple of mins. I always find that turning over from side to side normally helps them get rid of their hiccups...for those of you that get desperate!

My DD's are already waking each other up

Redlorry75 · 11/10/2006 08:15

Hi Everyone!

Thanks fo the support re stupid boss - Catkins, youll never guess what but I work in HR too, actually in Occupational Health & Safety...if you can believe it. Definatley a case of do as we say not as we do! Am phoning Union this monring

EliBoo - great name.

Choc-chip cookies for breakfast anyone?

VanillaMilkshake · 11/10/2006 08:27

have changed name from RL75

Eliboo · 11/10/2006 09:49

VanillaMilkshake.....you bad woman you, now I want one Hey, this makes you a yummy mummy (if you weren't one already).

Jabber, thanks for that - I think you may be on to something. First gp I saw did ask about asthma, and I've been a bit wheezy once before at this time of year. Maybe I have autumn allergies?! Anyway, he gave me a mild inhaler, which I'm supposed to use four times per day - can't notice much difference, but do cough less when I use it. Maybe that plus the iron plus some rest...

Calm, lol re dds waking each other! I do feel as though I have two children already, though dh is lagging behind on that one. I was up for about two hours in night, then dd woke me just as I was dropping off (cold) but....my Mum is off today at last, so hopefully I will get a nap later. Can't wait!

Lucy, thats great - will email you when I get upstairs to my computer (am on dh's laptop). You can start counting the days till you get to meet Magnolia

VanillaMilkshake · 11/10/2006 09:58

have also just had a nice Amore Spanish orange yoghurt - yummy!

Am no yummy mummy, Eliboo - well not yet, after being on/off Pg for the past 3 years diets were chucked out. As soon as bump arrives that's it - serious lifestyle change. Besides what with lack of sleep and lack of money for extravagent foods I wont have a choice anyway, I wont get enough calories to maintain my present bulk

Phoned Union BTW, very good in principle but I am a big coward in practice so we'll see what happens.

jabberwocky · 11/10/2006 10:07

Well, I've had about 2 hours sleep so far Am hoping I'll nod off again in a bit for at least another 2 hours.

elliboo, try the inhaler at least once or twice a day and see what happens. Coughing has always been my clue that my asthma is acting up.

Am seriously thinking of ordering a corset this spring. A friend of mine has two and she says it really gets your waist back in shape.

I'm just a wee bit depressed about my weight. I'm now up 24 pounds, was hoping not to go over 30 but with 8 weeks to go it's going to be tough. My secret wish was to top out at 25 but I can tell that's not going to happen.

VanillaMilkshake · 11/10/2006 10:26

Aww jabber, dont worry about your weight, enjoy your pregancy and eat what you like. I noticed my bum is the size of a hippo last night , but I just consoled myself with another packet of crisps and remind myself it's not forever (hopefully) !

How about in January you and I start a weightloss thread ?? Any other takers?

jabberwocky · 11/10/2006 10:30

Move that to about March and you're on!

Gloria42 · 11/10/2006 10:35

Morning! RL (or VM?) - remember yday you posed a sensitive question? I have one of my own that might beat you ! Have v healthy appetite (to say least) but any "motions" are very loose, with major wind issues. Should i be worried? Gillian McKeith (YAWYE) would NOT be impressed

jabberwocky · 11/10/2006 10:36

let me just say...you are not alone...

bewilderbeast · 11/10/2006 10:44

Weight loss thread sounds like a plan though January may be a bit drastic. I intend to eat like a horse at xmas and use breastfeeding as my excuse "oh sorry i just ate your roast potatoes but the MW says I need extra calories to feed DC"

Eliboo · 11/10/2006 11:25

Weightloss/fitness plan great idea, though March or even May more realistic for me - I remember that starving feeling when b'feeding, and am sure my current loss of appetite will be long gone! And also remember watching my friends bounce of to BushPush and various other exercise classes about six months before I felt ready to..

Feels odd to be saying this, and its not for the right reasons, but I've actually lost 3lbs in last ten days. I was also hoping to gain much less than with dd (now about 20lbs more than pre-pregnancy weight as opposed to 31lbs at same stage with dd), but tbh its worried me a bit - because its through illness. Still, I do think baby is growing, don't think its her losing weight - and lucky for me I put on 14lbs in the first trimester alone!

Jabber, I've been using puffer 3-4 times per day since weekend. Most of the 'can't breathe' feeling is half an hour or so after meals, when I'm clearly not getting enough blood 'cos whats left over from baby is going to stomach and not lungs. But the puffer does help the cough somewhat, so am sticking with it.

calsworld · 11/10/2006 12:51

Eliboo,

I've now lost all the weight I gained in the first two trimesters so net out at about the same weight as before I got pregnant - like you, its been down to illness, a combination of morning sickness and upset tummies...however, I went to see midwife yesterday as was getting a bit worried and she reminded me again that LO is still getting all it needs from me and will come to no harm at all...she said baby was right size too...hope this reassures a little bit?

Have been to aquanatal class this morning and am absolutely knackered now....am supposed to be working from home but can't get a connection to the computer at work...oh well, I tried!

C

Eliboo · 11/10/2006 13:44

calsworld, thank you - yes, it does reassure me, quite a bit. I've never had the experience of going down in weight in pg, quite the opposite - so feels very odd to me! But am sure baby is growing - quit sure in fact

Sorry to have been a bit high maintenance recently, think I've been in a bit of a state - am going to blame hormones and feeling ill

And Calsworld, you did try - time for Milo and afternoon TV now, enjoy!
