Just had a chat with Lucy5 and we decided that the old thread was getting too long and taking forever to load so here's a new one for all of us.

Hope everyone's well, nothing to report from me, everything's going smoothly still so far.

Not long now until we get the first of the birth announcements!!

Carameli · 10/10/2006 09:53

hi all, totally getting lost with this thread at the mo, hopefully if the move goes to plan I will be on a bit more often in Nov.
Who else was moving on here??? How did it go. I seem to remember I was not the only crazy one

THe place is full of boxes to be made up to start packing, moving on 27th. I am actually really excited about it all. Just want to get going. My parents are also helping us so I won't have to do much.

What is this Milo stuff I keep seeing on here? Am I missing something lovely??

Redlorry75 · 10/10/2006 10:12

Spina, I thought I had some twinges on Sunday too! However not as bad a yours to make me come to a grinding halt. But yesterday a bit of my plug came down!! Told MW wo said not to worry as the body is very good a replacing the plug if comes away before time - and it was only a tiny bit.

Gloria42 · 10/10/2006 10:28

Oh God, another thing to worry about ! What's my plug and how will I know if it comes out????

weirdbird · 10/10/2006 10:31

Well am feeling much more like myself today, except I used up all my patience with my DD getting her to school and am now a tad grumpy and just was very sarcastic to the repair man who phoned to see if I was at home, while he sat outside. I happened to be on the loo and couldnt get to the phone, when I did there was no message and the number was witheld.

I pointed out to him, that my house had a wonderful invention called a doorbell, that if you wanted to know if I am in, you RING IT!!!!

Hope no one else wants to talk to me today!

Redlorry75 · 10/10/2006 10:42

Gloria
Dont worry too much. I never even saw my plug when I had DD. But your plug is a mucussy (sp), bloody blob that comes down shortly before baby arrives (shortly being anything from hours to a week). Sometimes it is referred to as a 'show'

Gloria42 · 10/10/2006 10:48

phew! not expecting that for some time then! Although my boyf nearly had a heartattack the other night watching the Ch5 prog when realised that our bump was the same age as the prems being born!

Loulou000 · 10/10/2006 11:14

Good luck with moving, Carameli. I was one of the others. We're moving on saturday. Got big strong men coming to pack everything up on friday, so nothing's even packed yet. It still seems like there's loads of little bitty things to do, though. Can't wait til it's over.

Carameli · 10/10/2006 11:27

good luck Loulou for Sat. We are only three weeks away and it seems as though there is lots to do. We just have a 2 bed flat at the moment and we meant to move last year but all fell through at last min. But it does mean that a huge amount of our baby stuff(dd now 3) and many other things are in storage in by MiL's huge loft. So every time we've been down to see her we take more to make it easier on the moving day.

But even so this place is full of boxes to fill.

accessorizequeen · 10/10/2006 13:34

Arrrggh, moving, poor everyone who has to whilst pg. Surely 2 mugs of milo + teacake(s) accounts nicely for extra calories (200?)we're meant to be having? I read this morning it equals 1 jacket potato+ a little cheese, but I really think they ought to have had teacakes as an example...
Has anyone on here actually sorted out nursery/clothes etc for their bump? I'm feeling a little stressed about it, as though I'm not doing him justice. I have to paint the room, it's purple & I'm having a boy and he is not living in a purple room until he's 3, don't care what dp says. I had ideas of red/white/blue with bunting - awful or ok?

Eliboo · 10/10/2006 13:41

AQ, we don't even have a room to put this baby in - other than ours. Babies like bright primary colours, go for it
Olihan, good tip re chocolate...though I have to admit I've also been eating the 70% stuff G&B, which I buy on the premise that I don't like it as much, and will eat less of: doesn't work at all, I end up eating a few squares of that, then getting pissed off with it and buying the milk
Have been for a blood test in the hope that all horrible feelings are down to simple lack of iron - though ferrous sulphate means I'll have to triple my lactulose intake Any tips for building up iron that don't constipate?!?

Redlorry75 · 10/10/2006 13:43

AQ, our nuserie has remained the same as DD moved in to a bigger room - so it's peach and blue with a Mickey Mouse theme - DH is very proud of his paint work he wont let me re-pain anyway. It;s all wavy lines and andstamps - which he hand finshed to perfection so I kinda see his point.

I have also washed the moses basket and all the unisex clothes as well as the newborn and 0-3 girls stuff in case it is a girl - although I still swear its a boy.

DH is also letting me spend a little on new bits here and there which make me feel like I am actually doing something for this baby as opposed to just doing the hand-me-down thing, although most stuff will be hand-me-down!

Redlorry75 · 10/10/2006 13:44

Eliboo. Dried apricots are a good source of iron and fibre so if you can bring yourself to munch through a fair pile (excuse the pun ) each day it might help!

bewilderbeast · 10/10/2006 13:44

Have the clothes though they haven't been washed yet. Have the crib but it's at my mothers. Have ordered stickers to decorate the nursery with but as we don't know where we'll be living when he arrives that's about it. Basically I think i've bought everything i need but its all stored away.
How are you planning to do the red white and blue. It could look amazing depending on how you go about it. I'd only use red as a highlight colour though. Hand over the teacakes my shopping isn't arriving until tomorrow and i'm hungry and jealous

Redlorry75 · 10/10/2006 13:46

I have a friend who did the red white and blue thing. The walls of the room were actually cream and the colour came from 'accents' such as curtains, cushions rugs etc! But that way they also managed to incorporate a lot of lovely soft brown toys!

Redlorry75 · 10/10/2006 13:47

Meant to say - it looked really goood!

Olihan · 10/10/2006 13:48

Elibean, my friend recommended Spatone sachets. Her mw suggested them to her but they don't come on prescrip and I think they're quite expensive. My sister had terrible constiaption problems last year (nothing to do with pg) and was on Fibogel, lactulose, senna, etc with no result. The only thing she found that sorted it out was a big bowl of Fruit and Nut every morning and she's been okay since. Random but may be worth a try?!

I can't bear the 70% chocolate either, but dh has been buying me mega bars of Galaxy which I keep saying will last a few days and invariably only last 1 evening!!

Good luck to all you movers in the next couple of weeks. Don't go overdoing it - leave all the lugging around to the non pg people. I'd recommend sitting on the sofa and assuming the role of 'operations manager', so you can also boss people about!!

OMG!!!! Too many posts to read

Spina, thanks

My braxton hicks have been pretty strong for a while now and consultant said not to worry unless any type of pain.

Carameli · 10/10/2006 13:50

ac, I would not worry aabout clothes etc yet. Can't remember if this is your first or not. But with mine all I have are lots of snow suits and white babygros and vests, but they are currently in my MiL's loft in vacuum packed bags so won't get hold of them till Nov. I am not intending on buying many toher things apart from a few boy babygros as I cannot exactly put him in lovely pink ones that my dd had, however cute they are But I bought a lot before dd was born and then was amazed by the amount of presents of clothes we got from so many people. Even friends of my parents who I had not seen since I was tiny sending us things. So I am learning this time not to go mad until after the birth and then get some really nice things for Spring when the new things start to come into the shops. They always do after the Jan sales are over.

rambling a bit here so better so and have a cup of tea. Can someone please explain about this Milo stuff, what does it taste like? Is it good to help you sleep??? Have terrible trouble with restless legs right now. I get dh to tickle the soles of my feet and it helps for a bit, but I am very ticklish so its quite an intense feeling right now.

magnolia1 · 10/10/2006 13:51

Oh and a boy here

weirdbird · 10/10/2006 14:02

Carameli - Milo is sort of a mix between hot choc and Ovaltine in my opinion, was very nice!

Was having a terrible time falling asleep with restless legs, but I get DH to giver them a really firm massage before I try to settle down and that seems to really help!

We are decorating the Nursery at the moment, DH is just finishing off the gloss work and I am hoping it will be ready to start doing the fun part by this weekend!

Have washed the few neutral bits I have, but we knew what we where having last time, so most of it is girly!

weirdbird · 10/10/2006 14:05

magnolia1 - Got my copy on Friday thanks to DH popping out at lunch time for it, you looked amazing and I can't believe you look like that after 4, most jealous

Calmriver · 10/10/2006 14:32

RL- how do you kow if your plug has come out? What is it like? I have in the past few days thought mine has started to disperse. Let me know

Redlorry75 · 10/10/2006 14:33

My boss is on the phone for the 3rd bl**dy time today - does he not know he's the 'effing' reason I'm signed off!!!!

Calmriver · 10/10/2006 14:36

WB-it's another girl you're having

judemum · 10/10/2006 14:38

I agree with carameli on the clothes thing. Don't go mad as people give you tonnes of stuff at the beginning and then you have no money for 3-6 month stuff. I don;t think there's much point buying too many cute outfits for a newborn as I kept DS1 in babygros for ages! Anyway as I'm having another boy, afraid he's going to be mostly in hand me downs poor blighter. We did DS1 nursery in burnt orange and golden yellows- I really like it. DS1 to young to care what colour his room was! We're doing the second room now in a green (its called soft moss) with big swirly patterns on the curtains. Oh my god, read this back and it sound like we have no taste! Honest, it looks cool and funky!
