Hi girls

Hope you don't mind me saying hello. First baby due Jan 11th so I'm 36+1. I am so ready for this to be over now!!

Finished up on mat leave last week and moved house over the weekend. I am shattered but our new house is fab so it'll all be worth it (or so I keep telling myself!!) Grin

I had my first mug of raspberry leaf tea tonight. I have had strong braxton hicks and period-like cramps and backache ever since. Keeping me awake as I'm feeling pretty rubbish, Husband now not keen on me having any more tea!!

Also - how do you know when the baby has dropped down?? I know the baby is head down but I have absolutely no idea of it's position other than that! I need to pee all the time and yet I'm still so short of breath. It's a total mystery, this pregnancy malarkey!!

StarbuckGalactica · 16/12/2014 03:50

What does that mean, dropped down?

My baby is 2/5 engaged but he's still right up in my ribs! I'm due just before you Daphne, with my first.

Dec2013mummy · 16/12/2014 04:59

Morning ladies. cheshire that's really good news :) yay. Why are they still planning to induce (if you don't kind me asking)?
Hello Daphne. I had a midwife app today and baby is head down but not engaged (apparently it's common in second pregnancies). I would have been a bit distracted but Ds is sick so no baby yet please.
Poor Ds has a horrible sickness bug. He is currently asleep on me. He isn't even keeping water down how so had to call ooh. He has to go to the gp first thing apparently. He slept on Dh till midnight, then went in his cot for an hour and a half and now I have him. We have changed 4 times already now after a lot of sick! I'm worried about catching it too as obviously don't want to do any harm to baby, or go into labor with a bug. I don't really care about myself though if you know what I mean. I'm hoping he wakes up a little better. Fingers crossed Smile
Christmas in 9 days ladies. Yay.

Disappointment not distracted
Now not how!
Sorry, I'm extremely tired Sad

LittlePink · 16/12/2014 07:39

cheshire that's great news. Glad they've discharged you.

dec that sounds awful. Poor ds and poor you guys too. I hope it clears up soon and you don't catch it.

Baby is head down too but not engaged. He was but he popped back out again at last appt which mw said was normal in 2nd babies.

Dd was calling out at 5.40 this morning. Heard dh go to her door and tell her to wait for the sunshine on her gro clock. This was after I'd been awake most of the night again. Getting to the point that I can't cope with this rib pain anymore. Have considered seeing gp but can imagine I'll be told it's normal.

Nyancat · 16/12/2014 08:21

I was up and down between 3 and 5 putting dd back to bed and each time explaining that the bloody gro clock was still showing Mr star, aargh. why has she suddenly developed this habit of coming into my bed in the last few weeks when I can hardly sleep anyway, she's always been a 12 Hr a night girl. I wouldn't normally mind but the thought of trying to deal with two of them in a few weeks is not pleasqntSad

cheshirem2b · 16/12/2014 08:31

Dec our hospitals policy is that if you have/had Gd They don't like you going overdue so set an induction date around 40w in case baby is bigger than expected.
In addition I've got slightly higher fluid levels around baby so if it is still higher than 9/10cm on Thurs I get an induction date for 38/39w instead as it can indicate too much sugar is going to baby and can cause other complications during birth.
Right now, if they told me on Thursday I could stay and have baby there and then I would! I'm ready to meet Baby now.

cheshirem2b · 16/12/2014 08:33

Dec I hope your little one is feeling better today! Poor thing! Hope you're ok as well though!

Dec2013mummy · 16/12/2014 08:38

cheshire that makes sense. Better safe than sorry.
little rib pain is the worst. I had it with Ds more so than this pregnancy. Turns out his foot was in my ribs and he actually dislocated the bottom rib. Not good.
Thanks for the kind words. Waiting for the docs to call back as Ds isn't even keeping water down. I'm getting worried now. Poor thing. Please please please don't go into labor now! Arhhhh.( Wouldn't gave said that 2days ago) I have taken back the eviction notice!

Not caught up on here in a while! Life has been very hectic. Hope everyone is ok. Hope your son feels better soon Dec

I finish work for Christmas tomorrow and I cannot wait! Work has been horrendous and I have been dangerously close to starting my mat leave early for that reason alone. I'll be glad of the extra time at the end of my mat leave though. 2.5 weeks off and then just 11 more days of work hell in the new year to get through! One colleague tried to get me working on a report (not for one of my own clients) at 10pm last night but I put my foot down. I have really had enough.

On a positive note, we've pretty much bought all our baby stuff! I just want to get a pram toy or two at some point in the next month or so.

I wonder when the next baby will come along out of all of us! Not me for a while yet I hope, it's a bit too early! Although my cat has started to behave very strangely around me in the last 24 hours and my husband has joked that it might be a sign Hmm

Oh dear poorly baby dec hope docs can help and give medicine. Sounds horrible and for a young child too.
Get well soon. And you can get some rest too.

sallygib · 16/12/2014 12:14

Just had a phone call from GP to say my prescription was ready for pick-up, although the midwife hadn't informed me I needed antibiotics!

Last Monday (8th) MW said I had protein in urine sample however hadn't heard anything so assumed was OK. Frustrating as I don't know whether to book appointment with GP now?!

Daphne you're due one day before me! Also bought some raspberry leaf tea on the weekend but going to save it until after Chrimbo when I wouldn't mind things kicking off.

Also think I spied that littlepink is in New Eltham, me too! Small world eh?

Elizadoesdolittle · 16/12/2014 14:04

Midwife just been and i'm good to go with my homebirth. Baby head down but not engaged. Mind you I don't think DD2 was ever engaged. Well she obviously was at somepoint but not at any checks.

cheshire Glad you've been discharged.

Welcome daphne

dec poor thing. hope he's better soon and that baby stays put until he's fully recovered.

I still get the breathlessness too and now need to go to the toilet at least 3 times a night. And have several gulps of gaviscon whilst I'm at it. All fun and games!

HulaHoopsInTheBath · 16/12/2014 14:40

Sorry your little man isn't well dec hope he gets better soon and you get some rest before baby turns up.

Welcome Daphne - raspberry leaf tea just tastes so awful doesn't it. I tried to buy the capsules yesterday but my mum spied it said not to take in pregnancy on the bottle and wouldn't let me. Back to the tea for me then!

Good news you can have your home birth Eliza!

I have spent the whole day at home doing nothing. Feeling slightly guilty.......but I'll get over it!

LittlePink · 16/12/2014 17:20

I've just ordered a hypnobirthing cd which says delivery 22-24th dec so baby can't come before then. Seems silly- hmmm rib pain or wait for cd. Decisions decisions! He's not due til the 4th anyway and I've read although 37 wks is full term, anything after 39 is much better for them so I guess I can hang on another 2 wks but the thought of going overdue makes me feel sick.

cheshirem2b · 16/12/2014 17:25

pink I listened to my hypno cd this afternoon and fell asleep again! I don't think I've ever got to the end of the cd without sleeping! Grin

LittlePink · 16/12/2014 17:43

Which one is it? I got the birth sense one off eBay. Do you think yours will help when you're in labour?

I have also hired a tens machine. Had one with dd and it was great for the first stages when I was labouring at home with no other pain relief than paracetamol. Anyone else considering tens?

HulaHoopsInTheBath · 16/12/2014 19:17

I have a tens machine pink I really rated it for the first bit at home last time too.

Found a nifty little trick online earlier. Have been spraying maternity pads with a mix of witch hazel, aloe vera and lavender oil and they are now in the freezer. Hoping they will provide some comfort afterward.

hula I took raspberry tea in both my previous pregnancy's after 37 weeks. I thought they were fine for later stages?

madrigals How exciting!

Nesspot · 17/12/2014 05:10

I am wide awake which is not good as I have a mega-busy day at work coming up. One week left to go tho. I can do it!!!!!

I still seem to be getting night nausea which is really beginning to get me down. My hands and feet are also twice the size they usually are and tight and stiff, my pelvis hurts every time I roll over and my back isn't much better. I could actually cry.

In better news, the wee guy hadn't been moving that much over the last couple of days but he must have heard me say I was going to call the mw later today because I'm back to the usual squirming and wriggles. It's not doing much for the nausea but has put my mind at ease a bit.

I'm over this pregnancy malarkey now. I just want to feel normal again!

BilboTheAlmighty · 17/12/2014 07:10

nesspot I used to have night time nausea too, until I realised it was because I was hungry. Now I keep a little something by my bed and munch on it as soon as I wake up (which invariably happens every night!)

I never thought of using a tens machine. I need to do some reading! Same for hypnobirthing CDs!

Regarding maternity pads, a friend of mine recommended Femé Pads, the ones you put in the freezer. They're like a cold pack really, shaped like a pad. You put them in a disposable sleeve and wear them down there and she said they were a God sent. It does get bloody but after the birth, I'm sure we won't be that bothered Xmas Grin

Am I the only one overthinking every little twinge???

MW appointment this afternoon and for once I really don't want to go. It's because I don't want to get out of the car. Since Saturday the little lady seems to have grown so much. I feel like my belly will drop, making my spine with it every time I move!!

HulaHoopsInTheBath · 17/12/2014 09:22

Good Morning!!

Eliza the tea is fine and just says not to take in early stages. The capsules say on the side of the bottle they are not to be taken if pregnant or breastfeeding. Started to think that I had picked up the wrong thing. Im going to go for the tea again, but yuck!

Bilbo good tip about the pads. I didnt have anything last time and was so uncomfortable for a couple of weeks. I am also over thinking every movement and twinge. Getting loads of BHs but thats all they are. She either needs to come in the next 4 days, or stay put for the next 10 days.

Ness I second Bilbo and always have a little something to eat by my bed........usually a biscuit, or two Blush
