Hexy - i think the later stages of my pregnancy will be "trying", Ds1 taking A Levels, DS2 taking GCSEs. I'm also going to spend the rest of the school year (after we move next month)) driving all the boys to their current school which will be approx 45 mins from our new house just so I don't disrupt exams Confused I have no idea how the boys will react - my expectations are low!! Things will get quieter when DS1 goes to Uni and DS2 wants to go into the Army for early entry next autumn too and I can move DS's 3 and 4 to schools much closer to home. DP works away during the week at the moment too, he should move to a new location when I'm about 8 months Blush and he'll be able to commute daily then.

Overtired - Congratulations! Nerve wracking isn't it!! I'm not looking forward to telling people really. My parents never really reacted well to any of my other pregnancies and don't imagine they'll start now. I'm guessing it'll cause a few raised eyebrows!!

I wouldn't worry about people laughing, it's really no one else's business to judge anyway. If you're happy then that's that!

HexyQueen · 30/10/2014 18:41

Ooh, I'm not telling parents till much later. One of probs with being an older mum is that both my parents are having health crisis ATM. It's not as if they lift a finger to help us ( both me & DP are disabled too) or contribute financially, so really none of their business.

Dad will not be pleased - rarely is tho ;) - mum already asked if I was pg due to my relentless vomiting & near constant sleeping of last 3 weeks, but I joked it off. She will now take worrying to Olympic levels cos of my age, my ill health, risk of downs, how SS will take it, how she'll get to the hospital (too many right turns!), & fact my estranged sis is returning home from abroad 2 weeks after I give birth & her image of us all round her kitchen table happily breaking bread together has just been hijacked...

Fuck it. Like everything else they will get used to it. Gonna tell them Easter time & not a minute b4!!!!! Grin

Gingerbreadlady1 · 30/10/2014 21:29

Welcome probably & overtired, great to have some new old birds.

Congratulations tranquility & hexy, been checking here all day but this has been my first chance to post. That's great you're able to eat a little hexy.

This is dc1 for me so can't contribute much to the sibling chat. It honestly hadn't crossed my mind that people won't be either pleased for us (except my work, that situation will be a mess now) or maybe find it a little tough (if ttc, we've all been there!). And if they're not ladies, I can honestly say f@*k them! This is a great, happy but scary thing, don't let others bad attitutudes bring you down in any way. And it's no ones else's business too!

Woke up to go to the loo for the second time for the second night in a row - normally I'm a once a night girl! - and I've taken another test and I'm so relieved that the line has got a little darker. I was scared it wouldn't be there ?? I also took my temp for the last time and fertility friend says I'm officially triphasic ??

I'll be breaking out my digi this weekend - DP wanted me to save it for him!

I'm currently feeling like someone has been messing with my thermostat as I'm constantly very warm, this is a new sensation for me as I have an under active thyroid and usually run cold. I'm also getting pricking feelings in my breast and they've also developed nice dark rings in the outer edge of the areola (tmi? Sorry!) I'm also getting backache and dizzy if I move too fast or stand for too long. No vomiting yet but it's still early days for me I guess.

Apologies for the pics but I'm having trouble getting back to sleep and DP isn't home til this evening and I wanted to share with someone!

Both lines are clearer in real life too ?? Sorry! I feel properly excited for the first time ??

BingoBonkers · 31/10/2014 09:25

Congrats Probably! Wonderful news.

I never get up in the night except when pregnant and I've been getting up for about three weeks but didn't twig as I woken by one of the DC waking.

Overtiredbackagain · 31/10/2014 10:05

Morning all, and thanks for the greetings! Its reassuring to know I'm not alone Grin

Still feels very surreal, not helped by the fact that DP isn't a greater talker about emotions and the important stuff, but I know he's happy, his whole demeanour towards me has changed - helping me do stuff etc, which is very sweet. I know I feel ever so slightly terrified and after already having two beautiful DC, I know what to expect and stuff, so being a lot younger, he must be pooping his pants Grin

Not sure how we will cope financially, money is tight as it is, especially as DC father contributes very little and will not discuss finances at all, so am guessing the CSA route will become necessary, but I will address that next year, I need to concentrate on my DC right now. I have quite a good job, and employers already allow me flexible working where I work during the day in the office in London until 4 and then work a couple of hours from home in the evening, so I am hoping they will let me work a couple of days from home and the rest of the week in the office, that will help immensely.

OMG I'm really having a baby!! Shock

fromwesttoeast · 31/10/2014 14:14

Hi, may I join? I'm 42 and according to LMP I'm 6+2 weeks today, making me due in June.
I had a MMC last year and so I'm being as calm and non committal as possible about this positive test.
We weren't exactly planning to get pregnant right now, would have been better to get a bit further past GCSE season, but we seem to have had one careless occasion....
Right now I'm really glad, but having no symptoms, so trying not to let my hopes rise.
I think I will be delaying trip to GP for as long as possible!

fromwesttoeast · 31/10/2014 14:14

Congrats to all the rest of you!

Overtiredbackagain · 31/10/2014 14:29

Welcome Fromwesttoeast, I'm a newbie too!

Congrats! so reading from your post, this is not your first DC?

fromwesttoeast · 31/10/2014 16:12

No, not my first. I already have five! There is quite an age gap between number four and five. I would love a close in age sibling for my youngest.

Overtiredbackagain · 31/10/2014 16:32

Five?! Wow! And I'm panicking this will be my third?! Grin

HexyQueen · 31/10/2014 16:53

Congrats & welcome to u all newbies. We need to start getting a stats page together but I'm back to puking in a bin in between typing these words. Ffs, want it to pass but will only get freaked out if I did stop morning sickness. Told my first friend today :) xxx

Gingerbreadlady1 · 31/10/2014 22:00

Welcome newbies! Congratulations!

A stats list is a great idea however I'm shit at anything remotely it, it's a miracle I'm on here & started the old bird threads!

DurhamRed · 02/11/2014 16:06

Hi, may I join this thread? I'm 40 years old and 20+3 weeks pregnant with my first baby (a newbie all round!). I have suffered badly with hyperemesis and have unfortunately had 5 hospital admissions for rehydration already! I'm hoping I am over the worst and can finally start to enjoy pregnancy!!

Congratulations everyone on their BFP's Smile

Bags74 · 02/11/2014 20:53

Just catching up with this thread having been away for half term, which was exhausting!

Good to see new people and seems we all have same anxieties! Overtired, don't know where you live, but here in south London no one would bat an eyelid at age difference, and the good thing about being older and wiser is you learn not to give a shit!!

BingoBonkers · 03/11/2014 07:54

Bags I need to be a lot more like that. I am dreading the reactions. The DC we do have can be a right handful and so I can imagine the raised eyebrows. I know a couple of friends are going to say "you're mental" before they say congratulations.

Overtiredbackagain · 03/11/2014 08:36

Bags I live in Kent, work in the City. We have been together over a year now and we are very happy. I have a few reservations that maybe he isn't emotionally ready to be a parent, he is very good with my DC, although can be impatient if they misbehave.

Too late to worry about that I guess Grin Still feels very surreal, if it wasn't for my enormous sore boobs I wouldn't feel any different. Although it's been nice getting through the weekend with no hangovers Wink

I'm not sure how my parents are going to take the news. They haven't met DP yet, they pretty much cut me off when I separated from DC dad, and it's only now, two years on, that we are slowly starting to rebuild a relationship, although exH is still very much in their lives - that's a different story! Confused

Inshock73 · 03/11/2014 14:28

Yay I've found you! :) very excited!

I didn't want to hog the ttc thread with weekly updates and chats of my pregnancy, much as I hope it's encouraging to hear it can/does happen for all the other ladies I also know it's really tough on everyone who's been ttc for some time.

Very very excited to have everyone to chat to again :)

Thanks for starting Ginger

Going to read through the thread now :)

Inshock73 · 03/11/2014 14:33

and it will be so great to be able to chat about stuff that us 'older' ladies understand. I popped on to the April anti natal thread and although everyone is friendly and lovely, I was the oldest one on there! :) I didn't feel able to discuss combined screening results, odds of having a downs baby or whether to go for a harmony test when most of the ladies are 20's/early 30's so in a different position.

Yay very excited! :)

Inshock73 · 03/11/2014 14:45

Wonder if we should do a little stats round up, what does everyone think? Some of you I've been chatting to for months Ginger Tranquility Fankle, hoping some of the other old birds hope over to this thread soon.

Some of you I haven't got to know yet so here goes...

I'm 41, 16 weeks pregnant, first baby, will have just turned 42 when baby arrives...eeek! EDD 14 April 2015. Took exactly a year to conceive this bean and had one previous pregnancy that ended in a mmc in March 2013 after deciding to ttc in January 2013 and falling pregnant straight away much to our shock. I'm a bit of a career girl although I hate that phrase and can honestly say I wasn't remotely broody until I saw the big 40 on the horizon and started to panic :) Partner and I have been together for 6 years and it's a first child for both of us so excited but a little apprehensive too :)

Tranquilitybaby · 03/11/2014 19:36

Hi Durham sorry to hear you've had a rough time of it. I hope the rest of your pregnancy runs smoothly.

Inshock hello lovely lady! Good to hear from you. I'm in another antenatal group but it's so fast moving I can't keep up with it.

I'm finding this quite hard going, I'm only 7 weeks, but it's all a bit overwhelming after all that's happened this year. I've got to book my bloods and decide on whether to have the Harmony or not, but I've just for my head in the sand at the moment.

HexyQueen · 03/11/2014 22:44

Hi inshock' glad your pg is going well. I remember u from when I was a lurker on the old birds ttc thread. I am 9 weeks upduffed, will be 43 only 2 days after my edd (!), have a 4.5 year old dd & suffering with hyperemesis ATM, so have been going quiet on & off for last few weeks while I'm face down puking in a bin by the bed.

Hi durham welcome. Glad to hear u r feeling better. Really, once this vomiting & fatigue pass, pregnancy's rather nice when u start blooming.

Seeing the consultant ob Tmro cos of 2 other health conditions. Hope I won't be sick on his floor ;)

Xxx

Gingerbreadlady1 · 03/11/2014 22:45
