U guys have all made me feel better- thank you!!

Missv - I do pretty long hours- my basic is 9-5 daily but I never finish before 6 and sometimes it's as bad as 9pm. Plus I work one 32 hour shift each week (normal day before and after) and do one in 5 weekends.
I couldn't manage between week 5 and 8 and had a sick note. However I did know about the hours before I took the job on and we get a better maternity deal than most in the NHS.
When I'm a consultant I will be able to cut hours and maybe do some private so I will prob wait till then to have a second baby (if I'm not too scared after the first).
Also I'm planning to use my annual leave and stop work by 35 weeks- I have a bad back anyway (and have had to cut my meds down) so I do not think il be able to work beyond 35 weeks!

Hi everyone, first post on new thread and we are up to 100+ posts already! I don't get much time as I look after DD during the day (and she gets v huffy if I look at my phone. No mummy. No) and then two evenings a week I teach yoga. And need to do all usual household stuff etc. anyway....

Hope bleeding has stopped now Lauren?

My 16 week appt with the handsome consultant is this week. Hope to hear the heartbeat for the first time. Fingers crossed. He's so lovely and actually listens to any response to a question and considers and reacts (unlike midwives who just scribble stuff down and look past you). Hoping that it's all fine (tis with respect to cervix as had come biopsy ten years ago so concern about incompetent cervix). Then another month or so til the scan.

Lauren82000 · 19/10/2014 21:57

MissV I work in a small library at a college it's a tiny campus and just me and another girl works there (she's part time).
Mondays are 8.30-5, Tuesdays are 8.30-4 Wednesdays are 8.30-6 Thursdays are 8.30-3 and Fridays are 8.30-4. Don't even know why we open at 8.30 when I don't see students till 9.30 most days. Luckily the campus is closing in July and I get to go back to my more regular hours at a busier campus after my maternity leave.

The stupid hours I do at the moment aren't too bad as we only get busy maybe once or twice a week otherwise I pretty much sit on my arse all day reading with bits of actual work inbetween. I still feel tired at the end of the day even though I'm doing nothing. (Basically a babysitter for the computers) and thank god I'll be on maternity leave when they have to box up the books to ship them to another campus. I'll be all 'see ya later suckers' at the Easter break then it's their problem sorting though my paperwork and crap. (Kidding) Wink

Lauren82000 · 19/10/2014 22:04

London I'm just down to slight creamy brown discharge which isn't too bad so I consider myself to have stopped bleeding and this is just the residue flush out Blush here's hoping that was the last of the haematoma and there will be no more bleeding or spotting for the next 6 months.

13+2 (expecting to be moved forward on Wednesday though)

TheBooMonster · 19/10/2014 22:15

cries in a heap why is it that people can't go "we like a thing, lets love it together and create a community of people who love this thing and communicate and coordinate to make sure everyone can love this thing in a giant circle of love" why does it have to be a competition on which group loves it more and why do I feel the need to try and make them play well together. I almost had an irreparable un-take-back-able melt down earlier because grown adults can't play nicely together and support one another. And why does Facebook always make it worse... I'm just going to hid here on mums net... #rantend

london glad your consultant is lovely, I agree the poor midwives tend to be a bit hasty and blasé at times, but if I had to deal face to face with pregnant ladies from 9am till 5pm I would perhaps be overly reassuring too, as pregnant lady breakdowns are a bit stressful! I am convinced this is why they tell you you'll go over with your first baby and blissfully ignore the possibility that your waters might break early or you might need inducing

Stuntman · 19/10/2014 22:28

I only have two pairs of trousers that do up now. I feel fat!

CaveTroll hopefully she'll calm down about things and realise she can't push you about like that. Why do other people think they have any say in what you call your baby? I can understand pushing for a family name to be used as a middle name for sentimental reasons but so many people seem to shriek and wail at other people's name choices. We found it hard enough to choose between DH and me without anyone else sticking their oar in.

chiliplant · 19/10/2014 23:06

Grrr. My auntie just outed my pregnancy on facebook!
Gave me mam permission t tell family today. My auntie put on Facebook under a photo of my wedding (my anniversary tomorrow) t'and two will become three!!! Congratulations. So happy for you both!' Quickly deleted whole post n PIC. I know she didn't do it on purpose but I think it was up for a couple of hours! X

Rustyzilla · 19/10/2014 23:59

london I am also 16w this week and seeing a consultant re laser loop surgery I had 10 years ago - although I doubt my consultant is good looking! Bit worried about what he will find. This is my first baby so no idea if I will need a stitch or not. Confused

cave your mother sounds like a nightmare. I think honesty is the best policy, she surely can't just decide to move in with you for half of the week without consulting you?! I get annoyed if my parents turn up on my door for a five minute visit without telling me first and I get on great with them!

boo I hear you re the competition. And we are not quite 4 months in...

TheBooMonster · 20/10/2014 00:13

chilli that's such a pain! My mum put that she was going to be a grandma again on Facebook, but she's been briefed on my Facebook 'laws' so she didn't tag me :P

rusty It wasn't actually on pregnancy groups, it was a couple of local pagan groups, pagans get enough poo as it is without them flinging it at one another, and I just can't deal with it now I have all of these extra rage hormones hanging round. I've taken to engaging all baby Facebook groups with a canister of salt and a whole truck of calm so getting pregnant ladies to play well on Facebook is actually somehow easier than the groups that don't have the whole raging hormones excuse. O.o

daholster · 20/10/2014 07:00

Hello all! This morning I woke up with a bump! It has reduced after my wee... And you can't see it when I stand up (just the fat!) But it's there!

Off to London for my appointment at the Hammersmith today to look into whether I have HHT. Wondering if I might get a chance to sneak to the Westfield Centre while I'm there... But sadly I doubt it sigh

Have a good day everyone!

Hello from the back end of the bus. Still lurking, still feeling quite low Sad Scan this morning (finally!) which I was excited about, but now having massive scanxiety. If I remember correctly, there were a couple of others due to have scans today, so just wanted to pop on and wish you good scans.

monkey2014 · 20/10/2014 09:09

Good luck Janey!

Stuntman none of my trousers do up anymore, they are all hair bobbled at the top :)

Missv I do funny hours, atm I do 10 to 7 on Tuesday, 1 to 10pm on weds, 10 to 7 or 9 on Thursday, changeable hours on sats and 10 to 6 on Sundays. Spend a lot of time yawning.

I can still wear my normal trousers but without a belt. I have quite big thighs for the rest of my body so have to buy trousers to fit them and then wear a belt so there is tummy growing room!

Look forward to hearing your news later JaneyTea!! I know how you feel, despite having a very positive scan I haven't felt the baby yet so I'm looking forward to/terrified of my 16wk apt on weds!

16w

BonjourMinou · 20/10/2014 09:29

Good luck with the scan, Janey! Flowers x

kismac · 20/10/2014 09:40

Aww cave troll that sounds awful. You need to have a serious chat with her before things get out of hand. Im starting to think I might have to have a similar chat with my mum. The baby is due 19th April so she has cancelled a holiday in May and asked my permission if she can go on holiday in June. Eh of course, so slightly nervous about how much time she's going to be spending round at mine.

Spa was great. I had a wee sniff of the sauna and steam room but didn't actually sit in and found a lovely rooftop pool that wasn't too warm to chill out. Had to have my steak well done which upset of a bit, especially as hubby had his very rare but it was lovely and no puking. Yay.

Started stressing about having enough space for the baby, so off to have a major clear out.

Good luck for the scans today.

BananaToast · 20/10/2014 09:40

Good luck today Janey!

I'm still in all my normal trousers with not the slightest hint of a bump - all quite disappointing really! But I read somewhere you are meant to put on about 1lb a week in the second trimester which seems like a lot, so sure it won't last long. Weighed myself this morning and still the same as the day I got my BFP - struggling to believe there's a baby in there at all!

Have you all seen the news? It has been announced the duchess of Cambridge 2nd baby is due in April!
Who's baby is going to share the royal babies birthday?

BananaToast · 20/10/2014 11:24

My cousin's baby was born the same day as Prince George so maybe I'll carry on the family tradition!

So today was the day, had my all in one booking, scan and bloods done.

I've been put forward to 13 weeks today. Which I thought might happen as I was 12+3 and this baby implanted very early so not surprised I've dropped half a week.

Everything was fine, I got a 2mm nuchal measurement which having looked online seems really good for 13 weeks. But I haven't had the official ratio back yet.
