Grr just wrote a really long post about co sleeping and it didn't post it. Don't think I can be bothered re typing it was essay long Hmm oh well never mind.

That's interesting about boy sperm being fast. We dtd every other day which is what fertility experts recommend, I guess we shall just have to wait and see. (DH doesn't want to know, I'm indifferent really)
I did think this might be a girl again because I have a feeling the two we lost earlier this year were boys and I'm not wired to carry them. Will be pleasantly surprised if this one is a boy though and I can at least tick that off my list of reasons of what could of gone wrong those times.

BonjourMinou · 06/11/2014 20:25

Hahahahahahahahaha... oh.... cat nets. Grin

This reminds me. We have 2 cats that will sleep anywhere and we were very worried about them sleeping on DD when she arrived. So we acquired a cat net for the pram.

Placed it on the pram in readiness to see what happened... cat went and thought ooh, something new, I think I'll sleep on that! Thanks for the cat hammock, mum.

So we tried to create some sort of structure to it by sewing wire coat hangers from it (not the whole hanger, obviously) so the cat wouldn't be able to squash the baby. Nope, bent as soon as the cat sat on it.

Once dd arrived, we found cats would sit in the pram providing baby wasn't in it and would steer well clear if baby was. Although sometimes they created a sort of a bunk bed look by sleeping in the basket underneath Grin

I'm not worrying about it this time around.

BonjourMinou · 06/11/2014 20:26

Also we got pregnant on the first attempt this time. Does that = boy or girl?

I hadn't thought about a cat net but I think I might invest in one and hope if I've bought one I won't need it. Our cat is old and if any of our friends come round with there babies or children he tends to ignore them or wants to go out so I hope he won't be interested.

I knew about the boy v girl sperm being faster or slower but I have no idea when I actually conceived because we were dtd every other day so who knows whether it will be a boy or girl.

Scan 2 weeks tomorrow, I can't wait.

17w + 2

cinnamongreyhound · 06/11/2014 20:57

I'll beat you by a day Wineandchoccy! I want to know the sex but I'm still a bit cautious about them finding something wrong so I'm excited and nervous.

One of my cats used bite my ankles/legs if I was walking around with ds1 while he was crying! She never went near him if he was crying in his own.

I just meant by trying we were dtd lots, daily or eod so perhaps suggests boy.

A friend of mine found out today that she's having a girl after 2 boys, perhaps there's something in the water Wink

mswibble · 06/11/2014 20:59

Ooh interesting to read about the speed of the sperm! We were experiencing a little drought at the time. I ovulated on 31st July ( I have this written in my diary as I had to google what was going on, after nearly ten years on Depo I had forgotten the signs of ovulation!), DTD two days later and took the test just over two weeks later! Maybe I'll be on Team Blue!

Wineandchoccy · 06/11/2014 21:00

I can't believe we are all having 20 week scans over the next few weeks it doesn't seem two minutes since we were worrying about our 12 week scans.

Mine is December 4th, I'll be 20wks exactly. I know I'm one of the later ones.
I'm annoying myself slightly. I used to be all about 12wks - "once i get to 12 weeks I'll be fine", etc. Now its " once we get to 20 weeks i'll relax". I have a sneaky feeling I will never relax again! Is anyone else feeling as neurotic as me? I won't even allow myself to really look at baby stuff in shops! Madness!

kismac · 06/11/2014 21:26

Yeah, mswibble im feeling a wee bit stressy. Was absolutely fine but now that sickness and nausea has settled (only been sick once this week, yay) I feel sense of panic. I kinda don't feel pregnant now, so really can't wait for my scan to reassure me. Scan on 2nd Dec, so not long to go. I like the idea of having a wee surprise, so will try and not find out gender.

BananaToast · 06/11/2014 21:27

I think I might be the latest - mine isn't til 12th December at 21+5! So long to wait! I had a dream last night about the scan and they were sure it was a boy so we will see how true that turns out to be!

FizzyBubbly · 06/11/2014 21:39

Re cat nets - was thinking of getting one for when DD was in her Moses basket but didn't in the end for 2 reasons, a) when researching I came across a couple of stories where the net had come loose and fallen on top of the baby and b) they remind me of the nets that you put over fish ponds

Our very inquisitive cat has never been in the Moses basket or her cot, and actively avoided DD in the early months. Just my thoughts! Wink

TinyTear · 06/11/2014 21:46

Last time I relaxed between 20 and 30 weeks

prevlurker123 · 06/11/2014 22:18

Hey ladies! Ages ago I think a few people recommended good maternity winter coats but I cant find it....maybe I made it up! If anyone remembers what they were could they repost as I think I will need one! All mine very tight to begin with!

CherryLips1980 · 06/11/2014 22:41

If anyone wants a cat net, I'll find ours and you can have it. Not bothering this time round. Last time, like a PP found, our cats appreciated the hammock we got them [sigh] . We only have one cat this time round ( :( ) and he is horrified at the idea of being in the same room as a baby, let alone sleep with one.

I had my 16 week appointment today. Bugger me, the MW was RUDE. Late (20 minutes), no apology, no explanation (I was the first appointment) and made some verging on Hmm comments about my weight/ability to carry a baby to term glances at sleeping DD. I was on my own with DD (if that makes sense) who had fallen asleep while I was carrying her up to the Drs (in my arms). No offer to help with doors or anything, just walked through and let them bang in my face, leaving me to struggle with change bag + fast asleep child. Then started sighing when I found it hard to get my notes out of the changing bag and not drop DD. Asked me if I wanted to hear the baby's heartbeat, but then said in the next breath I probably wouldn't hear anything because of my BMI (which is very high, I admit), so there probably wasn't much point. So I said I did. Had to put DD on the floor (who thankfully stayed sparko) and she huffed and puffed getting the doppler out and then talked over the HB so God knows how she measured it. Seemed utterly pissed off that pregnancy so far has been straight forward. I'm so glad she was a stand in.

Apart from that all is well chez Cherrylips. It is DD's first birthday on Sunday, she has started receiving cards/gifts in the post and I am beside myself with excitement about it all. DP keeps reminding me it isn't my birthday Blush. Hope everyone else is OK

16+2

mswibble · 06/11/2014 22:45

I started looking at maternity coats tonight too prevlurker, its definitely getting a bit nippy out there!
Think the JoJo Maman Bebe stuff is recommended, sure someone said that they had a removable panel to expand/decrease as needed!

At the moment I'm wearing my black winter coat (which was already a little snug earlier in the year when I put it away) dressing gown styles. Haven't got a chance of buttoning it now so just wrapping the belt round me and shrouding myself in a massive scarf! I probably look ten times bigger than I actually am!

mswibble · 06/11/2014 22:48

What a cowbag cherrylips. I hope she was having an extraordinarily crappy day and she doesn't treat everyone like that. Such a shame she spoilt what should have been an exciting day.

londonlivvy · 06/11/2014 23:10

We had two cat nets that a colleague gave me. We never used them. The cat weighed six kg and the net would have kept off a falling leaf, possibly a falling tangerine, but not much more. I just shut the cat out of whichever room she was sleeping in.

On coats, I've ordered two to try from H&M and will return one. The coated parka sounded more waterproof but the suited coat sounded warmer. Neither was too pricey - there was a special offer over the weekend so was £25 per coat.

cinnamongreyhound · 07/11/2014 08:14

I think it's more your birthday than theirs in some ways CherryLips1980! I had a Bmi of 35 with ds2 and no one was ever rude about it, I heard hb at 16 weeks, horrid woman!!!

Had a good nights sleep, all animals present and correct and looking forward to a calm, if very wet, Friday!

TinyTear · 07/11/2014 08:21

Coat, I have this one in khaki and LOVE it!

It is soooo warm and snuggly and i do recommend it...

AnniaFausta · 07/11/2014 09:10

Siarie, the TTC plan was all following the Fertility Awareness Method from "Taking Charge of Your Fertility", so lots of charts and temperatures ;) We're nothing if not ruthlessly efficient in this house - for the time being...

Oh Tiny, how dreadful! Our waiting room has signs up pointedly asking people to give mothers seats - I've not had to look at one with a doleful expression yet, but it can only be a matter of time.

Cherry, so sorry you had a rotten stand-in. Hope all future midwives are wonderful!

Going shopping with my mum for pregnancy gear today... except since I only have a tiny bump, it feels a bit pointless! I'm going to look for some fuller tops to see me through to when I need proper pregnancy trousers/shirts, and scope out what else is available.

My 20 week scan is on the 25th - still feels ages away...

Siarie · 07/11/2014 09:28

Haha Annia we followed the same method, all very planned!

My 20 week scan isn't under the 17th of December as we are away so i'll be 21+2/3?

But we are breaking it up with the 16 week scan Monday so I don't feel too bothered. In fact it's all coming a bit quick for me!

Lauren82000 · 07/11/2014 09:50

Mine is 3 weeks on Wednesday I'll be exactly 20weeks. I'm hoping after that I'll start getting more excited. Told some more people at work (they work at a different site to me and the other lot I told) I was very surprised the gossip hadn't made it to them. We are normally terrible gossips and you can't keep anything quiet normally.

We had a great time on the illuminated tram last night was rickety as anything I'm sure the baby was happy when we got off after being jiggled for an hour! Smile I think I actually wee'd abit as I felt a bit moist when we got off. Shock Oh dear if that's what it was, got to step up the pelvic floor exercises!
