I thought I'd start a new thread as the old one was almost full up xxx

we sorta did/so the cosleeping thing:) were set on not doing it in the beginning due to my hubby being a heavy sleeper and all the warnings you hear..but after a week of no sleep we caves lol ds slept in bed with us all night until he was about 10 mths..and now still if he wakes up in the night I'll bring him from the crib to our bed(he goes straight to sleep when I do that so it keeps me from being up fighting him at odd hours of the night) he also comes in to snuggle with me once dp goes to work around 7am and stays in bed until 10 am..so overall we just found that by allowing him in there we all get more sleep :) lol

TinyTear · 06/11/2014 14:54

Hippo, no, this was at the Royal Free. I was there from 9h30 to midday (including waiting at the pharmacy for my thyroxine) but at least the waiting room has wifi

FreedomHuntress · 06/11/2014 14:59

Hoping this is not tempting fate, but I don't get colds. Haven't had one in at least 15 years. Same goes for DH. DS, 4, has never had one. I attribute it to not consuming dairy.

What did you get done to your hair, Siarie?

For anyone liking the idea of bed-sharing but scared they will roll on the baby, this could be a solution: www.amazon.co.uk/Sleepyhead-Deluxe-Months-Pristine-White/dp/B00ACK676E/ref=sr_1_1?s=baby&ie=UTF8&qid=1415285148&sr=1-1&keywords=sleeping+nest?

I had low lights and high lights put through, a full head freedom. I wear extensions and I usually get my hair done to match them but I was waiting as apparently they aren't sure of the danger to pregnant women.

It's made such a difference though, I forgot how I normally look!

Stuntman · 06/11/2014 15:41

I had a Sleepyhead for DS3 and he slept really well in it. It's massive though so it went in his cot, I don't think there would be much room for it in bed. The only problem is the mattress isn't washable. He must have been sick on it one night and I didn't realise until the mattress went mouldy and I had to chuck it.

FreedomHuntress · 06/11/2014 15:42

Glad the scan looked good, Misty, and wow, we are just full of girls here!
What did they suggest about the DS screening results? Will you have the NIPT/Harmony test to check?

Siarie, that does take ages, doesn't it! I don't have any patience for sitting in a salon for that long!

Congrats on the scan misty!, and another one for Team Pink! Wonder when the boys will start catching up.

FreedomHuntress · 06/11/2014 16:48

Misty, I guess they are very good at being able to tell now.

Anyone keeping a tally of how many girls we know of, vs who is left unannounced? It feels like a lot of girls, and the boys can't catch up! I know most still have their 20 week scans in the next few weeks though.

Oh Sairie, i know how you feel. Im just getting over my cold. Im a bit weird and I love lemsips, so really missed not being able to have them.

I hadn't considered co sleeping but it sounds quite nice, so might look into it.

First week back at work and so far so good. Got told that im glowing today, which really made my day. Especially as last time I was at work everyone kept telling me I looked really ill.

minipie · 06/11/2014 17:17

Ahhh co sleeping. I was definitely NOT going to co sleep with DD, except in a sidecar cot arrangement.

In the end however she slept on my chest, with me propped on pillows, for 3 months Shock. She had terrible wind and a bit of reflux (due to combination of prematurity and tongue tie I think) and would only sleep propped up. If I put her down she would grunt and whimper all night and wake so often that sleeping with her was way preferable! This is unusual I hasten to add but lots of people do end up co sleeping for a week or two at the start, or during sleep regressions/illness/teething.

Hoping that won't happen with DD2 - fingers crossed she won't be prem, and I'll be getting her checked for tongue tie asap - but I have bought a second hand Sleepyhead anyway!

Hidingthefear · 06/11/2014 18:06

cinnamongreyhound what's a cat net, is that "a thing" lol. Poppy (the dog) is only 6 months old and very bouncy! we've managed to train her to not chase the car fairly successfully and she's only a Shorkie (mmum was a shit szu dad was a Yorkie) so she won't get very big. Not a "proper" dog to me but I wanted a border collie and DH didn't particuarliy want a dog at first so she was a compromise, and he loves her to absolute bits now we have her!

I don't drink (at all, not even one glass which the midwife seemed shocked at, (am i some kind of alien because i don't enjoy being drunk?), or smoke, or take drugs but i do love my massive duvet, so sleeping at the side of the bed maybe best. once a few sleepless nights are thrown into the mix im pretty certain i will also become a go with the flow mum!

Misty did they not do blood tests too? although I've heard not every NHS offers it. They took my blood by mistake even though they couldn't do the measurement because bump wouldn't play fair.

I feel like I want to find out the sex just so I can tell you lot haha. I'm convinced it's a boy. I read a theory on how you conceive can sway the sex one way or the other, very scientific.
trying to cast my mind back to the event but i can't pin point the day of conception lol
I'll let you know in April haha

I've got my gender scan Monday so I'll soon be able to help with the stats. I would love a girl first but I think it's a boy.

How does how you have sex sway the gender? What about b/g twins!

BrixtonBunny · 06/11/2014 18:43

Freedom I think it's about slower/ faster sperm - think that sperm for boy is faster (so DTD every day might lead to a boy) but girl sperm slower but more resilient (so DTD every other day for example). The brilliant book "Taking charge of your fertility" talks about it if I recall correctly!

I also think out bloblet is a boy, not sure why - less than three weeks until we (hopefully) find out. I'm just so curious!

Yeah, Brixton, I've read that, and positions too, I just don't believe it's that effective.

Freedom as they say there's a fifty percent chance it will be right Wink

Hippo, that's great you're still allowed to go to the birthing centre despite previous PPH! Do you mind me being nosey and asking how much blood you lost? I lost 2.5 litres Shock so I'm not allowed to go to the birthing centre at the main hospital let alone the stand alone unit 5mins from home.

Great news on the scan Misty! Just remember there's a reason why the cut off for downs screening is at 13+6. Can't believe we're all girls so far. Gut feeling is boy but as scan is 4 weeks today I'm sure someone will beat me to it?!

cinnamongreyhound · 06/11/2014 19:53

Boy sperm and lighter because the Y chromosome is tiny so they're faster. They say that the further from ovulation you dtd the more likely a girl. Ds1 we tried very hard for, ds2 was a one off whoops at the right time slightly orchestrated by me and we tried for this one so we'll see. Have absolutely no inkling other than I don't feel different than I did with my other two pregnancies so suspect a boy.

Yes Hidingthefear, it's a thing you out over the Moses basket/cot to stop a cat jumping in. We set out cot up and put plastic on top of the matress so if they jumped in it freaked them out and they wouldn't try when baby was here so never had one Grin. Im supposed to have one of I mind a small baby but never had a tiny one.
