I thought I'd start a new thread as the old one was almost full up xxx

No Bonjourminou, usually by 10 but he's old and very stressed at work at the moment so is always happy to come with me :) sorry to hear you had a scare but I think a strong heartbeat is reassuring and hcp usually pounce anything suspicious in pregnancy so if they're not worried don't worry.

My Dh isn't very tall Misty414 but powerlifts so is 18st and very wide! He always cuddles up behind me though so could have more room if he wanted! I sleep soundly and he's a very light sleeper so it's usually me disturbing him :(

cinnamongreyhound · 24/10/2014 09:06

X post docpepper. A lady I know from toddlers had it with her last two (she has 5) and it just means you need to have the baby in hospital and will be given antibiotics after birth and baby monitored as far as I know. Better to know and be prepared though.

docpeppa · 24/10/2014 09:22

Thanks cinnamon, the midwife said I would have to stay in for 24 hours. I wonder now if I had it with my first? Never had any symptoms though and DD was fine.

Siarie · 24/10/2014 09:35

I don't find DH disturbs my sleep at all, he won't watch videos on his phone unless I'm not asleep and always asks before or turns the sound off.

Our bed is big and our mattress is really thick and handmade with loads of springs so it stops it moving much. I think I know what you all mean, when we had a thin standard shop bought mattress if you moved it would move the other side a bit.

I took a picture last night, I've got a jumper on so its a bit hard to see but I don't normally have that low bump. I've straighten my back as much as possibly too, normally I would just be flat there.

london it's me that has the cervix issues. Seeing a consultant this morning to find out what's what. I did have my op in the UK, but under a general, although I think that was my choice from memory. Fingers crossed no stitch required! Glad you have escaped that fate.

I definitely look pregnant! Someone random asked me yesterday when I'm due so it's obvious I must have a bump! 16 +3

roastpots · 24/10/2014 10:29

So funny to hear everyone's having similar issues with bed/sleep. We have been looking into buying a super king. We need a new bed and have always just had a double up until now. But we stayed in a super king at a hotel recently and it was sooo amazing! If we're going to get one, I want to get it now so that we get maximal benefit when I'm pregnant/early newborn days.

I'm 17+2 - only 16 days until my next scan and we hopefully find out if it's a boy or girl. Yippee. I'm into maternity clothes now - although they are rather baggy. Would rather that than constantly having tight trousers. I can feel fairly regular little movements. Good to have the regular reminder that it's a baby and not a chronic illness!

BananaToast · 24/10/2014 11:05

Ugh after three weeks of no bleeding it's started again Sad reddish blood but not loads of it. Looked up the EPU details to see if I could go and get checked out after work but it's only for women under 14 weeks. Any suggestions on the best thing to do?

Lauren82000 · 24/10/2014 11:21

I was told any problems ring delivery suit. You could always try the maternity unit I'm sure someone will point you in the right direction.

Every area is different it seems as my EPU goes up to 16w.

TheBooMonster · 24/10/2014 12:13

If I go to bed, no matter how early, DH follows me up, even in the first trimester where I barely managed to stay up past 8:30 he'd come up with me unless I was able to sneak upstairs, which is why I've taken to stubbornly waiting for him to go to bed then giving it an hour or so, have written off mornings as a result can't do it on work nights though as I have to get up so early, might have to go to bed before DD tonight so he can't come up with me, but even so he'll 'accidently' wake me up to try his luck >.>

Like the sound of these super king beds! I've been telling DH for years that bed is shockingly uncomfortable...

Stuntman · 24/10/2014 12:26

Hmm I think I need a SuperKing bed now, especially when both DS2 and DS3 decide they want in with me!

cowbiscuits · 24/10/2014 12:29

docpeppa

I had group B strep with Ds. I only found out by chance about 3 days before he was born. I went to the hospital when I was about 40+4 with reduced movement, everything checked and monitored and was fine, but the routine urine sample I did while there had group B step. I didn't have any symptoms.

They told me I would have to have IV antibiotics at least 4h before giving birth, and start a course of oral antibiotics. I'd have to stay in for 24h to check ds. They told me to ring the labour triage in good time when I went into labour, of course I had no idea how long my labour would take, and as it happened, it was less than 3h from starting the abx to me giving birth. So I got the antibiotics, albeit a bit late. We stayed in for 24h and everything was fine, they warned me to ring if I had any concerns like babies temp increasing. Luckily DS didn't have to have antibiotics.

Don't be scared- it's better that you know. There will be lots of women carrying it that don't know about it, I only found out by chance. That's more scary. Are they giving you anti-biotics now?

docpeppa · 24/10/2014 12:52

Cowbiscuits Thanks for sharing! Your experience makes me feel much better, good that they picked up on it in time.

I'm 14 weeks, I realise I am lucky to have found out now so I can be prepared.

Yes they have given me antibiotics, I had greenish discharge, lower abdominal pain and pain during sex. Not that we do much of that at the minute anyway Smile (sorry for the tmi) I had all kinds of paranoia running through my mind until I got the results lol

I called the EPU to ask where I could be seen and they said the maternal fetal assessment unit is walk in and I'd be seen there, so going to wander over after work. I'm sure it's nothing bad, but would rather get checked out or I'll keep wondering.

RiverRocks · 24/10/2014 14:09

We have a superking, because I'm a wriggler and DH is quite a light sleeper.

He's another who feels the need to come to bed with me, and then play on his ipad whilst I'm trying to sleep. He usually has the tv on as well, though. Drives me bonkers. I used to just let him get on with it, but since getting pregnant I have issued an ultimatum a few times when I have been particularly grumpy.

He definitely knows better than waking me to try his luck because I'm like a zombie when woken after I've just got to sleep, and when I do come round I get irrational rage even if it's an accident.

RiverRocks · 24/10/2014 14:11

Cross post Banana.

Sorry to hear you've got this worry again. Hope this afternoon goes quickly for you Flowers

londonlivvy · 24/10/2014 17:58

We had a number of cross words about sleeping when we first got together as he would prefer to go to bed much later than me (his preference for 12am, mine for 10pm). We have compromised on 11pm lights out. I often have my light out earlier and he reads on his ipad. I've never had a telly in my bedroom and would be pissed off if he listened to videos ettc. Generally I can't fall asleep whilst he's reading, but I can get sleepy, so it kinda works for us. We are lucky that we have a spare room so if I'm really tired and need to get a good night one of us can go there. I'm a shockingly light sleeper and have literally been woken by a dripping tap.

BananaToast · 24/10/2014 18:06

Just been checked out and everything is fine, they think the bleeding is being caused by low lying placenta and should stop happening as the uterus grows and the placenta moves up. So nice to have a reason for it at last. The sonographer was lovely and even gave me a couple of pictures, one side on and one of baby's hand where you can see all the fingers. Promise I'll try and relax now!

Re sleeping, we always go to bed at the same time so no issues with waking each other up coming to bed. I do wake him up in the night now I'm getting up for a wee every night (he's a v light sleeper) but figure I would rather just wake up than have to actually get out of bed to go to the loo so I think he's got the better end of the deal and don't feel too guilty!

Hi ladies, had my 16 week midwife appointment today - what an anticlimax! Took blood pressure, checked wee sample, asked how of was feeling then told me they'd see me again in January! Didn't even try and listen to the heartbeat... Hmm

Luckily at my consultant appt for asthma last week I got another peek and baby and heard heartbeat again, so I'm not worried.

Am currently reading "What not to expect when you're expecting" by Zoe Williams and it's making me chuckle.

The sleeping things crap- because iv got a bad back and bilateral sciatica anyway I used to take nightly sleeping tablets before pregnancy. Now it's a little rubbish but not as bad as I thought it would be.

On the mattress front we got a top of the range laura ashley one which helps. We got it when they had 40% off everything and a couple of other offers so got a 1.5k mattress for £400 Smile

Also no sex since I got pregnant- does that make me a bad wife? I'm so stiff now not on painkillers I don't even like being touched! My poor husband! He really looks after me as we'll (though he moans about it)- hanging head in shame

Lauren82000 · 24/10/2014 19:31

DH asked me before if I was still bleeding, not to ask how I was but because he wanted sex later. Cheeky bugger. Still light brown so told him no, maybe tomorrow.

Feeling a bit crampy this evening but I did just realise that my bladder was full and had been for a couple of hours. I had been too busy cooking tea and getting a wash on to actually realise.

On a good note I swear I felt some fluttery movement on and off today. Either that or I was very aware of everything gurgling around in there. I told everyone at work and shared photos which was nice as they knew about our 2 losses earlier in the year. My boss reckons it looks like a boy but not from nub theory or anything. Just an inkling.

Exciting to be feeling movements Lauren!

Misty my flu jab made my arm ache for about 36 hours. Here are my pics, baby is hiding behind the placenta (I think) in the second one but has its hand up in the middle of the picture waving hello, and the head and other hand are on the left side.
