Hi everybody - I'm new. I think I'm 11+4 but I have my scan on Monday. I'm getting very apprehensive so any words of wisdom would be gratefully received.

My heart goes out to those of you who have had losses Thanks - sending positive thoughts.

Fluffeh · 06/11/2014 06:07

Diddly - I'm so sorry for your loss. I hope you feel stronger soon and take care of yourself x

Kyz - fab scan! I was moved forward 6 days at my dating scan and I have a theory it means a boy, time will tell :).
Welcome socontrary!

I've woken up with dd's cold. She loves to share ha. We have a busy day today too so no time to sit and wallow in my man flu.
Out of interest what nappies has anyone with other dc tried? We use cloth in the day and always used aldi overnight. We ran out so bought a pack of tesco and when dd woke yesterday it had exploded and there was crystals all over her. They don't seem to have irritated her but they made a mess and I'm not happy. Has anyone else had this?

speedbird17 · 06/11/2014 07:27

Fluffeh we used cloth with DD until 10/11 months when nothing we tried would contain her power wees! We have had explosions with pampers (which in our opinion are crap!) and she was fine -

speedbird17 · 06/11/2014 07:33

Oops sorry! DD jumping all over us sent message too soon!

Was fine - just don't use them now unless we have too! We were absolutely gutted when huggies stopped selling in the uk, but luckily with my job I managed to find them (best quality Korea, cheapest Brazil!) but otherwise we have found Sainsbury's own or the Naty brand the best!

Sold all my cloth after dd stopped using it and not sure if we'll use it again, but not adverse to it!

Sunshinesaz86 · 06/11/2014 07:34

Hi socontrary and congrats, no words of wisdom I'm afraid I think we've all felt same going through the first 12 weeks but try and relax and enjoy! You'll probably feel loads better once you've had your scan and seen your little bean! Grin

winnie1981 · 06/11/2014 08:09

Hello all,

It's been an age since I last came on here and I'm in my phone so I can't see all the pics Hmm I had my scan and all was well.

Am going in for a cvs test this morning to check for a syndrome that we both carry. That's if they can do it tho, last time my bowel was in the way so I had to wait for an amnio a few weeks later. The results take 2-3 weeks for the full karyotype so hopefully they can do it today.
Last pg I got results at 19weeks and fortunately they were clear.

Hope everyone is ok on this frosty morning!

mumxof3x · 06/11/2014 08:38

So sorry mrsdiddly :( thinking of you.

Great pik kyz :)

Awful night here didnt get to bed til 1.30am, ds started been sick at 1 meaning me bathing him and then was up 9x between ds2 and ds3 and then back up at 6. Im sooo tired x

mumxof3x · 06/11/2014 09:03

Good luck with your CVS winnie xx

meringue33 · 06/11/2014 10:38

Hi all hope everyone is well. Sorry for losses.

Had scan yesterday and feeling v excited. Have also finally stopped chucking up all the time, appetite back and raring to go :)

MsMittens · 06/11/2014 11:07

Good luck with the upcoming scans and CVS.

Sorry for yours loss MrsDiddly - please be kind to yourself.

I am a pampers kind of gal myself. Have used them the whole way though with DD1 and been happy. Cannot comment on any other brands or cloth nappies I am afraid (other than to say, I have huge respect for those who use cloth, I just couldn't face another job when I had DD1 and went down the disposable route as a result)

Sunshinesaz86 · 06/11/2014 11:46

Congrats on your scan meringue! Glad your also feeling brighter!! Grin

Good luck from me too winnie hope all goes well!

Sorry you've had such a bad night mumof3 is DP/DH about to enable a sneaky nap? Or is that impossible?

Just had my flu jab, very painless!! She said I may experience achey arm for next day or two and could potentially 'feel grotty' but that's worse case scenario!

mumxof3x · 06/11/2014 13:55

No sunshine hes at work all time lol even weekends but im feeling not too bad now just lacking motivation. I had mine on tuesday too arm jus feels a little bruised to touch in that area. Really easy, ds2 has got to have his on saturday xx

jazzyjenbo · 06/11/2014 14:08

For those finding the fb group/mn link confusing, i added a seperate new stats list onto the page the other day that has a space for your real life name nxt to your mn name, i can save both lists to your desktop so its easier to update...
I'm finding it an easy way of seeing and remembering whos who!!
I'll try and update afew ppls names later going off the pinned post of names.

kittiker · 06/11/2014 17:31

So sorry for your loss, Mrsdiddly.

Good luck to all with upcoming scans / tests

Have had a reappearance of morning sickness this week, which was a surprise. Excitingly fainted in a staff meeting on Monday then yesterday was sick because tbere was a gross looking feather stuck to the cat. But I'm weirdly cheery about it all apart from the odd surges of fury.

Phoned a nursery today to organise a place for my future child - felt bizarre but there is such a shortage in my area that you really have to get your name down as soon as you've dtd! The joys of rural life.

Titsalinabumsquash · 06/11/2014 17:44

Good afternoon everyone.

I've had my birth choices appointment today, after a lot of talking they said they're happy to sign off on an ELCS at 40 weeks, but they'd also offer an induction at 38 weeks that would be completely lead by me and I'd be a high priority case so would be unlikely to get pushed back for bed space etc, since my biggest worry is birthing alone at home, I chose the induction option, I told them though that I'd want to be given the pessary and then left to my own devices for the day, I also stressed that if I tell any midwife I'm in labour they best damn well take me seriously!
They talked me through what I'd have to do if I did go into labour at home as well and they'll give me a home birth pack to keep at home just in case.

I'm happy with the outcome, I'd spent a lot of time worrying about the recovery of an ELCS and how I'd manage it logistically and waiting until 40 weeks would fill me with fear every day worrying about going into labour by myself.

I'm back on the 5th Dec to book an induction date with the consultant, I'm also going to enquire about using one of the home rooms in the birthing suite so after I've had the pessary I can be a bit more comfortable pottering around it with DP feeling as calm and relaxed as possible, they have little kitchenettes and sofas and huge showers and a tv etc in them.

Although 38 weeks makes me due in April, I'm planning on staying here for the journey. Grin

longestlurkerever · 06/11/2014 18:30

Gosh that's forward planning tits and kittiker. I am finding it hard to think beyond next week but a bit of excitement creeping in now I have a scan pic. I already know I want a future baby to go to dd's first nursery. It only takes them till they're two but it was fab. Had already planned to contact them as soon as the baby is safely here but now wondering if I need to do it sooner. It was new when dd started but is popular now.

KatoPotato · 06/11/2014 18:37

If you don't mind my asking Tits, why an elcs at 40weeks? I'm meeting my consultant next week to discuss my elcs and I assumed it was always 39 weeks x

mumxof3x · 06/11/2014 18:47

Wow tits exciting times :D my consultant agreed I could at least be tried for the water birth iv always wanted this time, just have to leave my arm out all the time lol, so im feeling happy about that too.

Had a mega itchy boob past 2 days and was so confused as to why so I thought the must be growing I got my tape out to measure and my overbust has increased 2 inches, I hadnt even realised...time for new bras x

Titsalinabumsquash · 06/11/2014 19:04

It's just the policy at our local hospital from maternal request ELCS Kato. Smile

Kyz · 06/11/2014 21:37

Evening all :) Today has been really busy as my DS turned 2 so i'm pretty exhausted! He's had a fab day though :)

welcome Socontrary

fluffeh I tried tesco nappies at one point, but really didn't get on with them, they certainly wouldn't have managed at night, my DS is a big drinker but they'd only do him for a couple of hours during the day. I mean I never leave him in nappies for a long time anyway but I don't expect to find them sodden after 2 hours or less. We use aldi in the day and pampers baby dry at night. I wanted to try cloth but never did. I may do with this one, i'm not sure. I don't know if i'll find it too much extra work with all the washing etc.

good luck with the CVS winnie

glad your scan went well meringue and glad you're feeling a little better now

glad you're happy with that outcome tits :)

wow kittiker that's ever so early! forward planning indeed lol!

I haven't thought about the labour bit/birthing options Blush I guess I should at some point but not yet, oh no not yet

SmileyScooby · 06/11/2014 21:46

Sorry to hear your news diddly, please do take care of yourself. Sending lots of virtual hugs xx

KittyVonCatsington · 06/11/2014 22:52

mrsd Sending you a huge virtual hug (((hug)) I am absolutely devastated for your loss. You are a fantastic person and mummy - please take care of yourself Thanks

Welcome soncontrary Smile You will love seeing your baby on screen-the worry and angst leading up to it is so worth it.

Great news on your scans winnie and meringue!

Sunshine That's all I felt with the flu jab-an achey arm for two days ( but only when I would lie on it)

Happy Birthday to mini-kyz! Cake

Kitty's labour plan = epidural. Wink

speedbird17 · 07/11/2014 02:48

So awake and rather poorly :( (sorry for the mememe in this post!) I thought I'd avoided catching DD's cold and cough but here I am with the sorest of throats and most snotty nose pleasant I've ever had! Can't breathe and just streaming nose and all I want to do is sleep :(

Fluffeh · 07/11/2014 06:25

Speed I totally empathise! Dd shared her cold with me and I feel awful. Tomorrow is out day on our own too with no activities to attend so I'm hoping I feel better by then.
My consultant has already planned my elcs for 39 weeks after my dating scanshe just said it would be elcs at such a date.
I really want to try vbac but my brain issues mean I shouldn't push for too long. My worry with that is they'll just use forceps asap whereas if rather give vbac a go and if it hasn't happened quickly enough switch to a section. I very much doubt that would happen though, I think they'd try forceps first and they scare the crap out of me.
But a section would be harder to cope with afterwards and would mean more time away from dd who is still very attached to boobing in the night and day time. I don't know what to do for the best.

LinaDee · 07/11/2014 07:03

Sorry for your loss diddly.

I had my app with the consultant yesterday and it all went well. She had a good look at my notes and is happy for me to have midwife care for the rest of my pregnancy. She's also said there's a good chance I'll have a normal delivery after forceps with my dd. Feeling pleased Smile

I've managed to catch this bug that's going round though - sore throat, can barely speak, blocked nose - not fun! Bring on the weekend!
