One week today until my next appointment, for the quadruple test. I'll be 15+2 so I'm hoping they'll do a scan and I'll be able to ask about gender. Otherwise I'll have to wait until my anomoly scan on 10 December which seems like aaaaages away. I'm also hoping they'll have all my notes this time as that will make for interesting reading and maybe I'll be able to find out more about the alloantibody issue.

lila35 · 29/10/2014 08:48

Thanks ladies, I do think its a little on the large side but have decided to embrace it, its quite nice to be obviously pregnant Smile

I've had a few funny twinges to one side also, trying not to worry to much and on countdown to my next scan 2 weeks tomorrow!!

How are you feeling today little?

Its amazing to hear the heartbeat isn't it toucanet? Smile

LIG1979 · 29/10/2014 09:53

Any GTT results Tiny? Hope you enjoyed your éclair - haven't had one of them for ages and now I want one!

How are you feeling today little? I hope those feelings down below are just natural twinges or psychosomatic ones. I would be very surprised if you didn't get some in your head just because of what you have gone through before. Hoping it is that rather than anything more sinister. How many more weeks do you need to hold out before you get past the last 2 times? I am considering a nanny when I return but dd loves the bustle, activities and having lots of friends at nursery so not sure if it is unfair to not give dc2 the same experience. (Although dc2 may be less sociable/active than dd who is a bit of a lunatic thril seeker.)

toucanet it does depend on the area and popularity of the nursery and days you want to do. (Monday and Friday are often quieter.) With dd, I did it just before she was born as didn't want the hassle of looking at nurseries with a new born. They also want very different deposits too so mine was only £60 so I didn't worry if I changed my mind but others wanted a month upfront to hold the place. The one I am looking at is quite quiet after a poor Ofsted report in 2009 but it was mostly for site safety issues which are now resolved and they recently went up to a 1/2 so I imagine it will get busier very soon.

Finally brought a coat yesterday - in my other biggest coat, I couldn't do up the buttons. Went shopping in my local town and there were 2 maternity coats to choose from. There seems to be much less choice of maternity clothes this time compared to 3 years ago. Not sure I can face a trip up to London just to go maternity clothes shopping. My bump is definitely firming up now which is good, although I imagine I am about 4 weeks ahead of my last pregnancy bump wise. (Although last pregnancy I measured 3+ weeks behind from 28 weeks onwards so maybe I could be just right this time.)

LittleBairn · 29/10/2014 10:24

Lila I'm doing ok. Getting a Little cabin fever and have way too much time to think. So for fun I'm working my way through AS level Chemistry and Maths to feed my brain a little.

LIG I'm sure some of it is normal pain but there is a particular one that's not I had it in my 2nd pregnancy too they just can't find a reason for it. Not that they have looked particularly hard.
My Dr is more worried about the pressure pain which is why I'm on bed rest.
On the whole I don't feel anything is about to happen just lots of little warning signs.
I would feel much better if I had a proper midwives or Dr appointment (technically not had one since 8 weeks!) so I could feel confident everything was being properly noted down.

In regards to a nanny they really wouldn't be any less busy with a nanny I would go to all different groups and outings with the babies/kids along with arranging play dates with other nannies. Quite a few of my charges are still best friends with the kids I set them up in playdates with as a baby.
The kids I did a nanny share with are especially close.

One of the more useful aspects of having a nanny, according to my bosses, is never having to take days off to care for sick kids because the nanny can do it.
If you consider a nanny feel free to PM me of you need any advice after 12 years of nannying there isn't much I haven't come across.

TinyTear · 29/10/2014 10:24

Just came back from midwife appointment and they had my results

so...
not diabetic (yet) hooray!

and she also found the HB quite quickly which was great as I wasn't expecting it...

Vit D is low, so next week when i see the consultant I am supposed to ask for supplements

TinyTear · 29/10/2014 10:26

Little might take you and smiling up on advice as annoyingly the nursery my DD went from 10 months to 2y has closed and the other option for teeny babies in the area I really didn't like (viewed it three times and didn't get the right feeling, and same for DH and other friends)

So we either look for another nursery (there is one a bit further away) or get a nanny which would help with the afterschool as in Sept 16 my DD goes to reception...

LittleBairn · 29/10/2014 10:26

Tiny great news of the diabeties.
I take Vit D every winter due to being in Scotland I'm just about to order some from amazon I'm just trying to decided in which form, I'm thinking drops.
I'm also planing on buying DHA too, its meant to help brain and eye developlement which being that its likely this baby may be a preemie its worth trying.

LittleBairn · 29/10/2014 10:29

Tiny yes absolutely always go with your gut when it comes to childcare.
Having a nanny avalible for after-school and holiday care can really cut the hassle out of trying to work out childcare for holidays too.

LondonSuperTrooper · 29/10/2014 12:51

Lila what a lovely bump. I have been taking bump pics but mine is not as attractive as yours... so I'll refrain from posting my photo.

Little I hope you are doing OK & that your cabin fever is diminishing.

LIG well done on your coat purchase. I've ordered 4 maternity coats and have returned them all. I am now waiting for another order. Not a maternity coat, just a normal coat 1-2 sizes bigger than my current size.

Tiny fab news on your GTT! You must be very pleased :) I'm dreading my test tomorrow am. At least mine is early, it's at 8.15am! I just hope that my nausea won't be too bad.

Well following on from you ladies were saying, I have now started looking at nurseries near where I work. We definitely cannot afford a nanny so that option is not open to use. I am hoping to work part time once I return from maternity, so I'm thinking of Bunny going to nursery 2 days a week & possibly my lovely mother will have her for 1 day. I'm just enquiring about costs and will arrange a visit once after my 20 week scan. This baby malarkey is beginning to feel a bit more real for me :)

LittleBairn · 29/10/2014 13:56

London I'm doing ok. Just looked out the window and the direct sunlight hurt my eyes I might be turning into a vampire. Grin
I haven't left the house since Saturday...

I appear to be having a breakdown of some description, I have spent the past 3 hours sobbing uncontrollably I have no idea whats wrong with me I currently hate dp and dsc and just want to pack a bag and leave.

ive locked myself in the bathroom and have finally stopped crying but what the hell is wrong with me? Dsc havent seen any of this by the way they think im laying down because im tired.

LittleBairn · 29/10/2014 21:41

smiling honestly at least one emotional breakdown is normal when you are in a situation such as ours. There is so much pressure (that we put on ourselves) fear/anxiety along with pregnancy hormones.
Try have an early night and see how you feel in the morning.

Stuntman · 29/10/2014 22:30

I hope you're feeling a bit better now Smiling. Could it just be hormones running amok and the stress getting to you? Sometimes I feel better after a crying session so maybe it's needed to relieve the pressure. See how you feel in the morning but maybe a wee escape would do you good even if it's just something like going to get your hair cut. I spend a lot of time looking after my kids alone as my husband travels a lot and even going to the supermarket by myself seems like a welcome break sometimes .

Toucanet · 29/10/2014 23:04

Smiling feeling for you - but nothing wrong with you just underlying stress & hormones. Like Stuntman says sometimes your body just needs to let it out & you might feel better after even if not sure why. As well as past mc concerns you've had the ex/dsc worries too haven't you, no wonder emotions have built up a bit. Hope you can get a good night's rest and feel better in the morning.

I burst into tears an hour ago when fucking shite verified by visa cost me £200 by failing my & then DHs transactions repeatedly & locking me out when passwords already reset etc. Usually that would/does really really piss me off but not make me cry - definitely some underlying vulnerability. Not surprising for all of us. Take care x

Tiny congrats on the result! London you've 1hr left to eat some crap, then enjoy your water ;) Fingers crossed.

LIG thanks for the pointers - suppose makes sense re Mon/Fris. I fancied that jojo maman khaki coat, might go for it. Meantime do need to get a haircut - and some colour. Know there are poss issues there but do not want to be announcing pg with grey hairs, if I can look a bit younger won't fear people judging so much (cos of course my face looks 21)!

TinyTear · 30/10/2014 07:22

Smiling it's normal. I also had a cry yesterday because DH didn't help with the washing quickly enough...

Enjoy the lucozade London

How you feeling today smiling ?

lila35 · 30/10/2014 08:06

Did you get a good nights sleep smiling? Hope ou are feeling better today.

Toucanet, if you have highlights/lowlights the colour doesn't come into contact with your scalp at all if you are concerned.

My sister runs a nursery so I hope to get our little one in there eventually although Iplan to go back to work a little after 12 weeks and think that family are going to help out whilst its very little.

I had my latest night in a long time last night! We had friends over and they live in Germany so I was determined to see them, they have two small ones and they were pooped way before me at 1030 Wink

LondonSuperTrooper · 30/10/2014 08:37

Thanks Tiny it reminded me of my uni days of lots of coffee and lucozade during the exam months.

Smiling I hope you are feeling better. I burst into tears in the middle if the office 2 days! I was feeling rather unwell & felt pressured by a tight deadline. It must be all the hormones!

Lila I can't believe that you are going back to work after 12 weeks! I'm planning on 1 year maternity leave but that could be wishful thinking as finances will be tight & we definitely need my income - our mortgage is too high :(

TinyTear · 30/10/2014 08:57

I am planning on about 10 months, including accrued holidays, so going back January/February-ish

OP posts:
smilingthroughgrittedteeth · 30/10/2014 09:07

Morning everyone, apart from a pounding headache and sore eyes I feel better this morning.

I think its a combination of stress caused by the building work and cow of a mil, delayed reaction to passing my due date with the baby we lost, having dsc here has made me feel the loss, despite beany baby definitely making his/her presence known I feel like part of our family is missing Sad all that coupled with crazy pregnancy hormones has just pushed me over the edge I think.

I had the same dream last night that I had for months after the miscarriage, im looking through the window trying to get into the house because my baby is locked inside in her car seat crying but I cant get to her.

smilingthroughgrittedteeth · 30/10/2014 09:08

Im planning on taking 5 months off but its a bit different for me as beany will be coming to work with me.

lila35 · 30/10/2014 09:12

Im a hairdresser and work for myself, I plan on doing little 2\3 hour blocks and hope to only work 2 days. To be fair i can probably get away with taking the little one with me for a while, they will all want a cuddle!!

TinyTear · 30/10/2014 09:14

lila you are not in London are you? We all could use your services
Grin
and have cuddles!

OP posts:
Shetland · 30/10/2014 09:16

I'm hoping for 1 year off but I need to look at finances - should be ok though.

Glad you're feeling better smiling You have a lot going on and hormones also have a lot to answer for at the moment!

LondonSuperTrooper · 30/10/2014 09:20

Smiling how lovely that your little one will come to work with you.

Lila oh that's not so bad then. And I think that you are incredibly lucky that your sister works at the nursery your little one will attend.

My DH & I are trying to recover from the shock of nursery costs. £70 per day Shock
