Lauren no, I didn't get a pot then. DH was mildly disgusted amused when I arrived home after work Tuesday night and still had my full pot in my bag Blush. Sorry to hear you're spotting again. Some people apparently have it all the way through, but I understand that wouldn't be reassuring Flowers

Hiding, sound like you and I have a similar menu! DH has done 90% of the cooking since I was 6 weeks, and I have had chicken dippers and potato waffles on more than one occasion. Oh, for a decent curry! The midwife said the appointments sometimes last longer, it depends on your questions. I didn't have many because I am a compulsive overplanner and have read every book I can find.

Misty the midwives have always (all twice I've seen them in this pregnancy) made my next appointment with me when I've seen them and written it on the front of my notes. Might be worth asking them?

Hippo glad to hear everything was okay. And another girl on the thread! Whoo! Can't wait to see what ratio we get.

Miss V fingers crossed everything's okay.

Lauren82000 · 16/10/2014 15:57

Not sure we will be finding out what were having it was nice to be a surprise last time and it was fun when people asked what we were having and we didn't know. Let them run riot with the old wives tales.Grin I reckon I've got another girl on board too. But then again it will be a pleasant shock to find I've broken the family girl trend. Might even be sneaky and find out but not tell anyone.

They used a machine to just check Heartbeat which was fine, so that's a relief but examination was horrible - he used a speculum and it was agony. Dr was very brusque and unhelpful, midwife checked headtbeat again after the swab 'just to be sure' which made me really concerned although surely there's limited risks with a speculum? Awful anxiety but I should just be relieved re heartbeat. Thanks for lovely messages... Cramping still there so going to head to bed I think xx

MissV84 · 16/10/2014 17:17

That's amazing news Hippo, I didn't even know they could tell the gender so early on.

That blimmin worked then!!!!! I've lost two posts now! Must copy before I try to post!

cinnamongreyhound · 16/10/2014 19:06

Sorry the Dr wasn't the most sympathetic but glad heartbeat is there and string MissV84, perhaps she checked again just to put your mind at rest not because the speculum would have done any damage!

Great news HippoPottyMouth! I wish it wasn't so expensive as I'd love to have that level of reassurance!

Me SquattingNeville! I feel pretty much the same as I did with the boys so I think I'm having another. Dh actually thinks it's a girl although he'd like another boy, 3 isn't enough for him!

Give up on my nappy post, except I have my cloth nappy and it's lovely. Dh isn't convinced!!!!!

AnniaFausta · 16/10/2014 22:11

Two exciting things today! First, I got my risk letter following my nuchal scan and bloods... one in 9653!! Pretty good odds, and I feel a lot better for knowing that (weird but true).

Second, I spoke to HR at work. The lady was lovely (just back off her second maternity leave herself), and gave me loads of support and enthusiasm as well. Now I have to speak to my line manager next week, which I'm not looking forward to, but at least I know that I have somebody on-side in HR.

sazzle82G · 16/10/2014 22:12

Wow these threads move so fast. Missed one day and I'm so far behind. Bit behind everyone but I've been thinking about maternity leave. Discovered I'll get maternity pay for only 4 months. Always thought if was 6. I work in a school and thought it'd be better than that. I'm really hoping if we scrimp and save till then I might be able to manage till christmas on smp. I earn much more than dh, alnot that i'm on a fortune, so will have to go back after that. Fingers crossed I can restrain myself from spending too much. All that talk of holidays makes me v jealous ?

Amazingly though my mam announced last night that they are fully prrpared to look after the baby when I'm back to work after always saying there would be no way she would do it. What a relief!!!

manabear love your bump. Wish I has one. Mine is still just a bread bump I reckon even though I'm trying extra hard to eat lots of veg.

Kelbells · 16/10/2014 22:18

Hello ladies! I haven't been since the first thread (I have been reading and lurking) I got the massive fear after having a mmc before but we had our dating scan today and there was a hb and legs and arms waving!... I feel like I can relax now!! Will contribute more later as I'm going to crash now but just to add, we used cloth nappies (tots bots and bumgenius) withDS and they were so easy! Not disgusting at all and now we'll be using them for DC2 they'll save a fortune! (I think it's about £300 spent in total on cloth and around £700 per child budgeted for disposables!) I also highly recommend cloth wipes (used a similar wipe to cheeky wipes), they're much better at cleaning poo! It's like using a flannel instead of smearing it around with something thin and a bit slippy ??
Finally, I know people were talking about babywearing up thread, ergonomic carriers vs high street carriers. We've graduated to a Tula carrier and woven wraps but there's a really good cheat on how to make a baby Bjorn style carrier more comfy for baby and mum if that's what you're using...hope it comes in useful to some... www.fineandfairblog.com/2013/12/narrow-based-carrier-scarf-hack.html?m=1

TheBooMonster · 17/10/2014 00:18

sazzle Statutory Maternity Pay should be 36 weeks. Though I don't know how pay works in the holidays, do people in schools normally still get paid for the holidays? confused face

Lauren82000 · 17/10/2014 06:59

For all my complaining about brown spotting. Woke up this morning and had red. My wee was red and had some red in my pants. Crapping myself now as it's my birthday and we lost a baby on DHs birthday in May and I'm just thinking it's only fair we lose another on mine. Stupid thoughts I know but very scary. Sad got to wait till 9 for the EPU to open so I can try and get seen. Certainly not going to work today.

TinyTear · 17/10/2014 07:16

Lauren happy birthday and good luck at the epu
Hope it's nothing to worry about

cinnamongreyhound · 17/10/2014 07:24

I had 4 months with ds1 sazzle82G, took two month smp and then a months holiday which took me to the end of oct. Was tough but I'm glad I took the extra as it was hard enough leaving a 6 month old but at least you're leaving yours with your mum :)

Glad to hear more positive cloth nappy stories Kelbells and congratulations on your scan!

Good news AnniaFausta!

cinnamongreyhound · 17/10/2014 07:26

Sorry x post Lauren82000, sorry to hear you're worrying and hope you get some reassurance. Could it actually be in your wee? Keep us posted and take care Thanks

Lauren82000 · 17/10/2014 07:38

No don't think it's in my wee, as when I wiped a bit later on still red. Just hope it's the same as before despite the colour.

Rustyzilla · 17/10/2014 07:42

Thinking of you Lauren, hope EPU see you quickly, all is well and you can enjoy your birthday x

Am I bad for thinking these cloth nappies seem an awful lot of hard work and disposables will just make my life so much easier?! Hmm

londonlivvy · 17/10/2014 08:36

Lauren thinking of you and hope EPU see you quickly and are able to put your mind to rest.

BananaToast · 17/10/2014 08:44

Happy birthday Lauren. I have also had red bleeding which sounds similar to yours after lots of brown spotting and a scan showed everything was normal, no obvious reason for the bleeding. Hope you manage to get seen quickly this morning and get the reassurance you need - it's so scary.

Rusty reusables don't appeal to me either - I will be going disposable!
