Hello all!

Big congrats, Phryn, lovely news to hear!
And congrats to all on their lovely scan pics!

Thanks folks for sharing your stories of not feeling great - it was certainly comforting to read. And when I did (finally) get round to telling my family and friends the news, their response was so lovely that it lifted me right out of my funk!

Hey Annia, thumbs up on Expecting Better - I find it really helps me not worry needlessly about all the scare stories, and know what really matters (washing vegetables, for instance! :0D). I kind off feel like it should be mandatory reading, especially given the revelation about the true amino/CVS stats!!

And finally, just wanted to share this, which made me laugh my bloomin' socks off:

PS: Daholster, I hope your ear is better now!

I don't have an Aldi near me...

For toddler potty training ones I like the Waitrose own brand ones, better than Kandoo...

Lauren82000 · 16/10/2014 11:01

DH has the toddler wipes as they are cheaper than the adult ones. I like Tesco and asda own brand sensitive ones but that's mainly a smell thing the normal ones come in apple scented and it does not smell good with poo.

RiverRocks · 16/10/2014 11:12

Squatting - the sheet they added to my notes after my 12 week scan had the NT measurement on it. Have you got this?

Think DH and I will talk about nappies/wipes a bit later on. We have started collecting bits though, and my mum bought us a co-sleeper cot after I chatted to her about wanting one Grin

Had my 16 week appointment on Tuesday - was rather underwhelming. Blood pressure, urine sample (which she then gave me to take home Hmm), listened to the heartbeat, any questions, see you in 8 weeks. In and out in about 20 mins. And she said the next appointment will be even shorter.

3 weeks tomorrow until my next scan. Might be able to get excited about this one...

MissV84 · 16/10/2014 11:17

Had really bad cramping since last night, just spoke to midwife and she told me to go into hosp... Just waiting now. Really anxious xx

Siarie · 16/10/2014 11:19

Oh fx for you miss!

Morning ladies I'm 12 weeks today! Even though I'm still feeling sick and have crap sinus headaches I feel like I've hit a mile stone.

Just googled how many nappies and wipes you need. 10-12 nappies a day! Pooping and peeing machines.

MissV84 · 16/10/2014 11:20

On a less anxious note my sister is a loud and proud real nappies user abd runs a North London Nappy Library (search on Facebook) she loans you nappy starter kits to see if you want to do it... There are lots of other similar things around. I'll plan on raiding hers...

HippoPottyMouth · 16/10/2014 11:20

Oooh I am on my way to get my harmony results and nuchal scan! Not feeling too scared but that is worrying me as I always think that if I'm not expecting the worst then the worst will happen Confused
Must quickly work myself into pessimistic frenzy..

HippoPottyMouth · 16/10/2014 11:21

Sorry, cross posts, everything crossed MissV. Has the cramping stopped now?

Hidingthefear · 16/10/2014 11:29

hello everyone, been having a quick read through to catch up on all your adventures :)
far too early to think about nappies lol. Although I keep getting told to use Aldi nappies over pampers!
had my 12 week scan but was actually 13+1. Baby won a gold star for the most difficult baby of the week according to the ultrasound lady as she couldn't get the nuchal measurement. Baby decided it would rather play jump and slide up and down my uterine wall, and curled up in a ball so she couldn't measure. They still took my bloods though by mistake but ah well.

how is everyone finding their morning sickness?? i think i'm getting worse instead of better :( is the end ever going to be in sight?

riverrocks i'll be looking forward to my 16 week appointment if it's that quick Smile

BananaToast · 16/10/2014 11:53

MissV hope you get seen quickly and find that it's nothing to worry about Thanks

Good luck with your Harmony results Hippo, it's good you're not feeling scared - just go and enjoy your scan! The odds are on your side so no reason to worry.

Hiding are you going to have another scan for the nuchal measurement or just do without? My sickness seems to have all but disappeared, but I know I'm one of the lucky ones who was never really sick, just felt nauseous when I hadn't eaten.

13+3 today - my 20 week scan feels ages away as they booked it in for 21+4! She did it on purpose too, didn't even look for dates closer to 20 weeks, so I guess they like it to be as late as possible, but it feels like so long to wait.

Lauren82000 · 16/10/2014 11:56

I'm hoping for at least an attempt with the Doppler at my 16w appointment. Im not bothered if they can find a HB but it'll still be exciting to have an attempt.

Riverrocks did your mw not give you a sample pot with your notes at booking? I got one which is bigger than the one I got with DD.

MissV hope everything is alright and your cramping stops.

Lauren82000 · 16/10/2014 12:14

Hmm just been to the loo and I'm spotting again. Surely the blood must be nearly gone by now? It wasn't a very big pocket of blood and this is the third instance since that last scan where they found the haematoma.

Although I have been expecting more spotting it's like every time I've been to the loo I've been like 'oh I'm not spotting' call it intuition or paranoia I have been expecting it either way. Typically in time for my birthday tomorrow. There goes dtd for my birthday. Hmm Good job DH still has a coldsore so there is double the excuse.

TheBooMonster · 16/10/2014 12:19

I wrote a blog post somewhere about disposable nappies when DD was tiny, found it the other day and actually put it on the blog. I found the Huggies to be awful and explosive, Pampers were fab but bloody expensive. Sainsbury are less generous in proportions to the other shops own. Tesco, asda and aldi all seemed to be about the same, and we generally go for Tesco when buying disposables because they tend to be on 2 packs for £10.

Wipes wise everything disposable seems to be fairly similar apart fro the Huggies pure wipes they're lovely and thick, have no idea how much DH paid for them though. I like the reusable ones because I tend to end up with less accidental poo contact, but they're smaller than disposable wipes (or at least my cheeky wipe stash is...)

Hidingthefear · 16/10/2014 12:35

BananaToast - I've decided i'm not going to bother. At the end of the day it's just numbers identifying risk. And someone said to me if knowing the risk factor wouldn't change your decision about the future of the pregnancy then why bother having it done. And i thought it was a very good point. at this stage even if there was a higher than normal risk it doesn't mean anything definitive and I wouldn't be willing to put my unborn child through any risk or testing just based on some numbers.
It started with just nausea but so far for the last 8 weeks i have been physically sick every morning, and now i'm sick again in the evenings and night time Sad even cooking food is hard work sometimes and hubby is no mastercheff!! he very kindly made me chicken dippers and chips the other day so i'm sure his meals will be a winner with our child in the future!!

that extra week wait must feel like soo long!! mine is on the 27th which i think will be 20+4

I've only ever bought huggies wipes on offer TheBooMonster and these days they're often only £1 :)

Sorry to hear you're having worrying cramps MissV84

Mostly peeing Sairie and newborn nappies are tiny so don't hold a lot! Ds1 poo'd twice a day most day but I was very lucky with ds2 once every 10-12 days Grin

Pee pots are lovely RiverRocks, they expect you to rinse it and then refill it before each appointment! I only had one pot with each pregnancy, not the most hygienic thing to carry around!

Mine is pretty much gone now Hidingthefear but if I get really hungry I get nauseas quite quickly and I'm 15+3.

With mine they are at clinic in the gp surgery specific days Misty414 and you make the next one while you're there. I had to call for my 16 week one as they wouldn't make it until all ok with the scan. I won't have one at 24weeks as its my third baby but I will make my 28 week appt when I got weds for my 16week one. Scans and midwife appts are quite different here.

I used dh's nasal sudafed last night Blush I'm so desparate to be able to breathe and I slept all night which was lovely but do feel guilty!

Huggies Natural Fit were PERFECT for my DD, she had a very slim frame (still does) - that is what I mean about waiting to try them with the baby...

We never had leaks with Huggies, some with Pampers. Sainsbury's own brand were good too...

Siarie · 16/10/2014 14:10

I think I'll be going with pampers through the Amazon Family subscription, that way you get 20% off and don't have to remember to restock and get one day delivery. Going to go for Waterwipes, as they can be used from birth.

All research from today, another thing done!

HippoPottyMouth · 16/10/2014 14:39

Scan done, the baby was in an awkward position so I ended up with a dildo cam which I was not expecting! Had a bikini wax this morning too so feeling like I have spent more time with my clothes off than on today Shock

Anyway.. Results all good, baby and placenta all happy.. And it's a girl!!

I think that is the third girl on the thread and the third girl for us too. It's going to be a very hormonal house when we hit the teen years Grin

13+5
