Good luck crumble... You will deffo have a baby soon by the sounds of it?

Any word from hefner ?

Ahh goats how many days overdue now? Feel so frustrated for you, but each day it is getting closer even though it doesnt feel like it, good luck with sweep !! Im betting you have a baby that likes to sleep! Which is the no 1 reward for being overdueGrin

STIGZ · 09/10/2014 09:59

Oh mum2kiss how are things today?

FrauEnglischLehrerin · 09/10/2014 10:04

Congratulations, badger x

Good luck, crumble!

sazzle I found that post very moving. Giving birth is never going to be risk-free however we choose to attempt it and I feel strongly that resorting to ever more non-medically-indicated elcs to try to eliminate risk is not the way forward (my mw told me this week that one consultant at our local hospital cites piles as a reason for elcs Hmm). I'm so glad you don't have regrets and are moving on from what be a very worrying time for you and your family. X

FatFlashingLazer · 09/10/2014 10:32

Hi all. Haven't posted for a while but have been checking in. Congrats to everyone whose little ones have arrived and good luck to those with arrivals imminent.

I am having a bloody awful week. Our bath which had previously leaked and flooded the dining room decided it didn't like being fixed and did it again on Monday evening. I didn't notice as I was upstairs still but DH came home from work and slipped in all the water. He is ok and we are both glad it wasn't me that fell. Had insurance company out and we have no claim as cost of damage is less than our excess but we did manage to have the plumbing work fixed by the emergency plumbers, so at least I should be able to use the bath at home during early labour.

Been having lots of cramps and back ache on and off but nothing regular and I have been crying loads yesterday and this morning. To top it off baby has decided to be super quiet over night and this morning so now I am just waiting to see if things pick up after a cold drink and something sweet. I think I have felt a few very small movements but nothing like the usual sweeps and wriggles. Do you think it's worth calling in? I think I have it in my head that I should only call if there's no movement at all, rather than reduced movement...

porcito · 09/10/2014 10:47

Congrats to all the new arrivals!

Good luck mrsthedog , mrsb and mrsbadcrumble -x a labour day for the Mrs's!! Hope those of you still waiting get some uterus action soon!

lazer i'd go in - I went for reduced movenents and it was a sign of low amniotic fluid so they took her out early. It wasn't anything to worry about but probably best not to leave it in case it's something like that. Good luck!!

Me23 · 09/10/2014 10:48

Congratulations badger

Good luck crumble mrs and thedogs

I'm feeling quite upset today got some test results back which could indicate pre eclampsia (though Bp has been fine) so seeing consultant later. Obviously I hope all is well with me and baby but I'm disappointed that my last chance to have an unmedicalised birth is slipping away.

Georgebythesea · 09/10/2014 10:53

Aw congratulations Badger Lovely to read..though envious too..think we shared a due date!
Great to read your birth story Kirsty :)
So full moon didn't budge him..feeling fed up now! Had lots of tightenings and period pain but then....nothing! I have a week before they want to induce me so plenty of time really..just so fedup of waiting and worrying..he doesn't seem to be moving so much today so like flashinglazer not sure what to do..hoping he will liven up in a bit!

fatpony · 09/10/2014 10:55

Congrats Badger on the arrival of Baby Badger! I'm loving all the arrivals and birth stories.

Lazer - that's so annoying about the bath. These things always seem to happen right when you want everything to be calm and orderly. For my bum/hip cramps and back ache I've been walking about with a hot water bottle tied to my back with a stretchy bit of fabric (from the baby's sling), it really helps. My baby has also had a very quiet week but I am still feeling him move every couple of hrs or so. Nothing like the last few weeks where he was constantly moving. I think my MW said if you notice a drastic reduction/change in movement then call the hosp - might be worth calling and seeing what they say? Towards the end they do move much less though I thin.

Today is our last day without a baby - quite a surreal feeling as csection tomorow (unless we get bumped of course...). I slept terribly last night, possibly through anxiety. Done two loads of washing this morning including bed sheets (so we come home to nice smelling sheets), did the bikini line (no way am I being dry shaved in hosp!) cleaner coming for the last time around lunchtime, booked in for hair cut in a couple of hrs. Meeting DH for lunch and afternoon last minute things (going for a walk in this beautiful autumn sunshine and a snack buying rampage in M&S) and tidy up at home. I can't bear the idea of coming home to a messy/dirty flat which perhaps is the nesting thing going on. I even cleaned the skirting boards in the baby's room with some jiff and hot water (despite our cleaner coming)!

CellyD · 09/10/2014 10:59

Congratulations badger, good luck the dogs, mrs and crumble, exciting times ahead. Mum sorry progress seems to have stopped. I think someone wise on this thread said no contraction or BH is wasted, it's one less for later on.

I look so miserable today that a complete stranger on the school run told me to cheer up... I must try harder to look less grumpy in public and save it all for DP after all it's his fault I'm in this state Wink.

Whinge alert: I'm feeling too tired to bounce on my ball, but maybe I should as it might persuade this baby out. Also tired of my parents checking in on me by phone at least 4 times per day to see if I'm ok, then finding a tenuous reason to visit in the evening to check on me... It's not like I'd forget to tell them if the party got started, my Mum is birthing partner with DP (his request) and my Dad is going to look after DD... I love them to bits but could do without the 3 hourly phone calls that remind me I have an under performing uterus.

puppythedog · 09/10/2014 11:00

good luck this afternoon Me23.

With us there is no sig of any contractions. Mrsthedog is getting some rest, she's been aaae since five so is having a kip listening to a track talking about contractions and stuff. (a hypo type thing).

I figure we';; go for a nice walk in a little while and then get into the car and go for induction. We were hoping for a water birth and medical free etc but if we need to go down the induction route/intervention we will go with the flow.

As far as I am concerned, I cannot quite believe that we're becoming parents today (maybe tomorrow dependent upon induction efficacy). As in I really can't get it into my head. Just feels like a day, like any day. BONKERS.

I am feeling a lot of love though, for all of you too. Good luck people Flowers

canweseethebunnies · 09/10/2014 11:02

Ok, so I posted on this thread months ago, but it was moving so fast I didn't keep up and have been vaguely lurking ever since!

Congrats on all the lovely babies.

I am currently 38+4 (due 19th) and been referred for a growth scan, as bump has been measuring under for the past four weeks and is now 3cm under. Has anyone else had this?

Bit worried and totally unprepared! Haven't packed a bag or anything, and now feel too big and too tired to do anything!

ohthegoats · 09/10/2014 11:08

Nice story kirsti, well done.

stigz - ELEVEN DAYS! I'm swinging wildly between zen coolness.. doesn't matter, I don't think my due date was until 4th October, so not that overdue really blah blah, it's moving loads, I'm still healthy... to bawling about the discomfort. I'm just too short to have a baby that keeps growing - there is no space for it, I have no strength in my torso at all, so I'm flailing around a lot - I've permanently got feet under ribs, my heartburn is worse than ever, walking hurts, sitting hurts, lying down hurts.. only position comfortable is on hands and knees leaning on a beanbag - not useful for sleeping.

crumble - ace news, induction swerved!

MrsB - hope it all goes smoothly!

ohthegoats · 09/10/2014 11:10

referred for a growth scan, as bump has been measuring under for the past four weeks and is now 3cm under

Yep, I was too. I was told 'small baby' all along, always measuring behind.. probably be induced early if it doesn't come early by itself etc etc. Here I am at 40+11. Don't worry about it too much, you're term now.

Lulu298 · 09/10/2014 11:22

Good luck to everyone getting induced today or already on their way! There's so much going on, I can't keep up!

Thanks for your birth story kirstipops. Glad to hear you're back at home recovering.

binkybunny · 09/10/2014 11:26

celly my parents have been staying for just over a week, it's been lovely having them here to help out, but now they are driving me insane. Or specifically my mum is by sitting reading magazines doing bugger all while my dad, pregnant me or poor dh whose been working crazy hours make her cups of tea/ cook dinner/ Hoover etc. I think my dad's retirement has made her lazy. I'm a bit worried about her being her post baby now, as she's meant to be here to cook clean etc and as my second birthing partner Sad

She's also getting annoyed at all the false starts of contractions I've been having and keeps saying, 'you're definitely going today' or 'I wish she'd hurry up, I need to get to France for my Christmas shopping', which isn't helping me relax very much!

God I'm whingy today, hope baby either arrives or they go home as promised tomorrow, think I need some breathing space now!

magichandles · 09/10/2014 11:53

My parents are arriving this afternoon and loads of people have been asking why I didn't get them up earlier to help - mainly because they would have driven me insane by now!

Good luck those going in today. I'm mentally in the zone for induction tomorrow, so I really hope I don't get bumped for any reason.

FatFlashingLazer · 09/10/2014 12:02

I called daycare and they said to come up for monitoring so just on my way. She said I will probably have to wait a while as they are busy and there's 8 people there already ahead of me. Better to be checked though so feeling a little calmer. What's the betting that baby will start doing acrobats as soon as I get there! Fingers crossed

CellyD · 09/10/2014 12:12

Fingers crossed flashing, maybe take a kindle or iPad to distract you.

Pregnantagain7 · 09/10/2014 12:22

Congratulations badger and kirsti
Good luck thedog mrsb and. crumble

Sorry if I've missed anyone it seems to have got very busy all of a sudden.

I've just been for my second sweep mw said things were very favourable and waters were really really bulging she warned me they might go whilst doing the sweep they didn't but you never know maybe later!

I'm going to dtd tonight and if that doesn't work I'm going to leave it til induction next Thursday.

She also said don't leave it too long before coming into hospital if my contractions get regular and painful and straight in if waters break. I think she's worried about me giving birth on the kitchen floor :)

SweetPeaPods · 09/10/2014 12:38

Hi everyone !
Need to catch up fully on thread but just wanted to update that ds2 arrived on Monday morning! Exactly 24 hours after proper contractions started at home. This may be long!
I woke up at 1am on Sunday with loads of pressure/pain in pelvis. Contractions started straight away. Went down to lounge and started bouncing on ball and woke DH up at 5ish to say definitely happening but every 6 mins or so. Had a bath and when I came out they were every couple of mins. By 9am hospital told us to go in to be assessed.
Mw confirmed I was definitely in labour due to thickness of cervix but only 3cm. I chose to go up to ward instead of home as I didn't feel I could cope with another car journey and they thought I might progress quickly with if being ds2.
Sat on bouncy ball on ward and did a lot of walking. This went against what I wanted to do as I was so tired I wanted to lie on bed to sleep but contractions wouldn't let me and I knew I needed gravity to encourage contractions. Mw felt she could see a change in me dealing with contractions so wanted to assess me. I was 4cm (and waters bulging) which was disappointing but meant I could be admitted on labour ward. My own room instead of being watched by unlabouring woman was bliss, aswell as access to aromatherapy and gas and air. I had some paracetamol and mw mixed up some oils to burn and for DH to use to massage my back with. Clary sage, rose & jasmine. I sat on ball and breathed through every contraction. I found counting to 10 slowly helped as either by the time I got to 10 the contraction had gone or eased. Next examination I was 7cm so could go in pool. I didn't enjoy this as much as I thought I would so got out after an hour or so after vomiting everywhere!
I then felt the urge to push after midnight so after 20 mins of pushing (I pushed for over 2hrs with ds1) ds2 was placed on my chest. He took a while to cry after swallowing meconium and we were kept in till yesterday due to a little infection but we are besotted by all 7lb 11oz of him. Completely different experience to ds1 which ended up with spinal and forceps in theatre, and contractions were much more intense but I'm really chuffed I managed on paracetamol and a little bit of gas and air at end. Milk coming through and nipples hurt like hell due to constant feeding but I would do it all again tomorrow!
Good luck for those with things happening today, and I hope everyone is well.

BingoBango85 · 09/10/2014 12:54

Well done sweetpea. Great story to read too! I'm 38 weeks today & feeling ready. Not massively uncomfortable, just ready to crack on! Congrats! Grin

ldt87 · 09/10/2014 13:24

Hi all, need some advice please to put my mind at rest, I think I've just lost my plug, felt like a bit of jelly fell into the loo, sorry to he gross!

Now I've got on a pad and having pink discharge, I've called the hospital and been told to monitor what I'm losing and call back in an hour.

Ladies who have lost plugs, did you have any bleeding or pink loss afterwards? The sight of red/pink instantly worries me xx

Grannyapple · 09/10/2014 13:33

Hi ladies...good luck to all those in labour, going for induction, etc...all go on here!

me23...good luck & at least it's been picked up!

I had a bit if a soft poo earlier Blush & then headed out for a pedicure & eyebrow tidy up. Came home, had lunch & now getting some light period pain...can't decide if this might be the start or not...usually starts with croimh with me but I've got too much to do ??. Need to sort out changing table, make done chilli & sort out my hospital bag for potential transfer in... I'm due to pick kids up at 3.30 from nursery...what's the betting things ramp up then?!

Could do with baby holding off til the w/e tho...
