Going through these fast at the minute!

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Definitely entertainment if you are being induced - I went in at 9 with DS and nothing happened until 12, then nothing kicked off until the next morning. I was far too distracted to concentrate on my book though, so I'd grab a paper and a couple of magazines on the way in as well. Although, I'm hoping the internet signal on my phone has improved in the 3 years as well.

Ear plugs as well - I was in a 4 bed induction bay and my bed was opposite the triage cupboard - cue no sleep at all.

ohthegoats · 08/10/2014 17:25

That looks like my bag MrsB - like fatpony said though, I'd definitely add earplugs and an eyemask.

Also, any drinks? Water in those sports bottles? Food for husband? Our local hospital doesn't feed the partners in any part of their being in hospital.

Erm... don't know what ondasatron is, but a friend suggested I take in my own pile cream. Oh, I've got a plastic jug to take to the toilet with me - a friend gave it to me with lavender oil and witch hazel, so I've put those in - I'm thinking it's a thing that might be needed more if you're kept in for more than just one night or so though, so probably bloke can pick those bits up too. I've been quite anal about having everything I even think I might need, so that boyfriend doesn't need to find them in Tesco after no sleep.

ohthegoats · 08/10/2014 17:26

I've also downloaded some recent BBC programmes onto my little tablet - I guess I'm going to need those even for monitoring visits.

ohthegoats · 08/10/2014 17:28

I wish I was as zen about the induction thing as you are MrsB - being all cool and excited about it probably means you'll go naturally tonight or something. Me being all aaaagh about it can't be a good thing.

mrsb87 · 08/10/2014 17:30

Yes drinks good thinking. Will pick some of those up with the sweets and get some ear plugs too. Although I think DH has some kicking around from work.
Ondansatron is my anti-emetics for the HG goats, I've been warned being in labour can make you feel quite sick anyway so I'm anticipating I'm going to need those.

STIGZ · 08/10/2014 17:33

Bibs or muslims mrsb ?? Cant believe its tomorrow Grin

ohthegoats · 08/10/2014 17:37

I put Capri Suns in my bag - straws and sugar.

mrsb87 · 08/10/2014 17:48

MUSLINS!!! I have what feels like hundreds so yes I will put some in.
Great idea for downloading a few shows goats, doing that now. Also if i was that lucky I would have had my baby by now and not having to wait til 41+3 for an induction lol!
Oh no unfortunately I can't stomach capri suns any more. It was all I could drink for a week at the worst of the HG and has an awful association for me now!

MundayCakes85 · 08/10/2014 17:49

Congratulations on all the new arrivals, and good luck to those that seem to be getting going. I am SO jealous of you all. 10 days overdue now and 2 days to try to get things started naturally. Hurry up baby, DH and I are getting impatient now Grin

Me23 · 08/10/2014 17:54

Just typed a big post and lost it!
I would bring a spare pillow too as there are never enough!

Wonder if london is in labour she hadn't posted and just had a feeling about her (probably wrong)

flip sorry sweep didn't really happen sounds similar to mine yesterday.

Sending labour vibes to all!
puppy I'm liking your bribes! I remember on a night shift once a new dad ordered a few massive pizzas for everyone I will be forever grateful as most of us didn't get a break they night.

I've been feeling off and quite achey today who knows if it will turn Ito anything probably not. Ran into mw friend earlier she said unit was so busy last night all rooms full and almost closed so hoping it's calmed down if things do kick off.

madamweasel · 08/10/2014 18:02

I'm getting so bored of all this waiting now...I want my new baby!!! stamps foot petulantly

noimagination80 · 08/10/2014 18:03

Gosh so much going on here!!!

Just wanted to say Isla Marie was born 3 weeks early on the 20th of Sep at 14:02 she weighed 5lb 8oz.

PunkyBubba · 08/10/2014 18:13

Aarrrgh! So consultant just came to check baby's position and said he is the most engaged he has been, so they could send me home(!!) to wait for things to start naturally...

Or she could give me an induction pessary rather than breaking my waters as a gentler start... I said yes to the pessary as after 2 weeks in here I just want this to be over... But now I don't know..

I'm only 39 weeks tomorrow by my dates.. And seems so unfair to be forcing this little one out early just because I'm fed up! So confused :(

puppythedog · 08/10/2014 18:27

punky Take a breath in for three seconds, pause for three seconds, breath out for three seconds and do this two more times. When you have done that toss a coin, heads you go home, tails you get the induction.

Then think about how you feel about how it lands Wink

YellowWellies · 08/10/2014 18:37

Punky I'm cuddling my wee 35 weeker typing this, don't worry about baby arriving a week early. After all you've been thru I'd go for the pessary if it were me Thanks

FlipFantasia · 08/10/2014 18:44

Wow Punky! Don't feel bad about 'rushing' baby - you've had to deal with really stressful transverse issues (and terrible food!) for weeks. Being induced is a good thing in such circumstances! Or go home, and join the rest of us in going a bit mental waiting (you'll be on the jizz tea before too long!). Must be hard to process the change in choices though.

Me, it does sound like a similar sweep experience. At least my first two didn't go early. If I were you j'd be up the walls! My midwife was saying that no 3 if often the one that follows no pattern...

Sazzle glad you had a good vbac, even if cord problems meant ned had to be in scbu. I found the recovery so much better after my vbac.

FlipFantasia · 08/10/2014 18:44

Noimagination congratulations on your little girl! Gorgeous names Smile

ohthegoats · 08/10/2014 18:45

Puppy has exactly the right suggestion - that's how I make all my life decisions. Makes you trust your gut feeling!

Toss a coin, if you don't like the outcome then you know straight away which way to go.

pebble82 · 08/10/2014 18:58

Yep agree. Puppy that's a great theory. I think we'll have to do that when deciding the name.

Noimagination, congratulations! It's crazy but they were my original name choices in that order. We've had to change though because a close friend had an Isla in July. Lovely though :)

puppythedog · 08/10/2014 19:05

Congratulations noimagination. How wonderful and amazing :-)

cabster · 08/10/2014 19:25

Congratulations noimagination! Hope you and your little lady are doing well.

McDonald's apple pie dunked in McDonald's chocolate milkshake is the best dessert ever. I wish I'd known this earlier in my pregnancy.

Pregnantagain7 · 08/10/2014 19:30

Congratulations to kirsti not on fb so missed that one hope everything went smoothly Flowers

Very excited for thedogs you will be meeting your new baby very soon :)

Exciting times mrsb hope everything goes smoothly with your induction I would take flip flops for the shower they can be a bit manky

punky after everything you've been through I would get things moving but that's me I would just be concerned about it moving again at 39 weeks it will be well and truly cooked.

Congratulations noimagination love the name Flowers

Hope everyone else is doing ok nothing doing here tonight I'm putting my (very swollen) feet up and pretending I'm not pregnant tonight Grin

PunkyBubba · 08/10/2014 20:53

Thanks everyone :) yes I think my head has just been spinning with everything that has happened today.. I agree with gut feeling, but there were so many arguments going through my head for each scenario.

Anyway talked it through with DH (when he turned up with surprise burger king dinner) and he had the same initial thought as me that baby should come in when he is ready.. But as others have also mentioned we then get to the 'what if he disengages again'... I'm guessing I would have to keep coming in for checks and would probably be admitted again if he was found to have moved. So pessary it will be!! Once midwife comes in to sort it out Hmm

FrauEnglischLehrerin · 08/10/2014 20:58

sazzle it didn't sound like you'd had problems directly relating to your vbac, but thank you all the same for the reassurance - I did have the tiniest niggle of wondering if it had had something to do with it.

Exciting times for the dogs. Good luck!

Think my baby has turned b2b, argh. I felt quite extreme squirming in my pelvis at some point in the last few days (can't remember exactly when, though) and now all the feet sticking out is at the top of my bump instead of under my ribs on my right. Hopefully I'll manage to get out for a decent walk tomorrow and stretch everything out a bit. The weather has turned properly autumnal now, though, and i can't fasten any of my waterproof jackets. Maybe I'll find something of dh's to fit.

magichandles · 08/10/2014 21:35

Fraun - I've had to resort to my Dad's waterproof jacket for the school run and could only just do it up today - thank god I'm being induced on Friday!

I've been feeling pretty normal all day, but really struggled eating my dinner tonight and feel just odd. I could do with her hanging on for just another day so my childcare arrangements fall into place!

Good luck punky - it sounds like you are making the right decision for you.

On the plus side, we have a name agreed! Or rather (as I suspected would happen if I didn't push the issue) DH hasn't thought about it at all and has come round to my choice Grin
