Sorry to hear about your cervix issues, Viper and Frenetic. I hope you are both okay.

Quick question - do you need to have a full bladder for the 20 week scan?

Had a brief fix of baby yesterday when a colleague came in with her 7.5 week old. Had a lovely cuddle and we've said we'll meet up for coffee and cake once I'm on maternity leave and before she goes back. Can't wait.

Viperama · 02/10/2014 12:47

Grinning I was told to just come as you are for 20 week scan. Good luck

hanflan · 02/10/2014 12:54

grinning My letters for both 12 and 20wk scans clearly said in bold "full bladder is NOT required". I went empty for both and they were very clear images!

Grinningcat · 02/10/2014 13:14

Thank you. My 12 week scan letter said a full bladder was required which was pretty uncomfortable at the time Grin, but with the 20 week scan we just booked at the desk right after the 12 week scan and never had a letter. Didn't really fancy sitting in Monday morning rush hour with a full bladder!

freneticfox · 02/10/2014 15:19

I went to my 20w scan with a full bladder just incase; was told to empty it halfway through to try and encourage more movement so they could get a good look at his heart. I don't think it's compulsory though.

Had a nice long chat with a midwife at my local hospital this afternoon, she went through my medical history with me and explained that cells I've have removed are such a small amount that it wouldn't cause any need for worry, but they might check on it at 30 weeks. It's calmed my nerves a bit for the time being at least.

I've never had a loop excision, but I've had multiple erosions - some have cleared up by themselves and others have needed freezing.

Aaanyway, moving on from TMI chat, I have a very wriggly bump today. He was throwing out some proper kicks last night in bed (after DH was asleep typically), ones I could feel under my fingers. Eeep!

I was told to go to both scans with "comfortable bladder" meaning full which is far from what I would describe as comfortable! I have to go back again to complete 20 week scan as baby wouldn't move and they couldn't see everything that they need to as was told in no uncertain terms to come with a full bladder. Funny how everyone is being told different things! Good Luck for all of you with scans coming up! x

BanglesSpangles · 02/10/2014 16:32

I got told to drink a pint and a half of water an hour before. They ended up running over an hour late, so i had some proper leg-crossing moments!

That said my letter also said to bring a dressing gown (Confused), so in retrospect i probably should have just ignored the whole thing!

Memphisbelly · 02/10/2014 18:04

Viper hope you are ok

Frenetic glad you had some reassurance from mw.

I have had a stitch like pain on my left side all day, been so painful. Dr google says uterus stretching now its going higher so just had a hot bath as dh is home and taken over ds duty Grin

Also got told I am looking very bonny now (I take it this means fat Grin) I realised today that we have recently had a new wool stand and I can't seen me fitting through the door much longer as the stand stops it opening wide.

Jack a closed fb group would be good we have one for my first ds still going its nice to share pics and see faces, obviously some may want to stay face/name less on here too so it gives some the option who want it, I have no idea how it would be set up though

Bangonthedoor · 02/10/2014 18:29

Evening all Smile

Had a good day at work today, turns out they've been paying me wrong so I'm owed £500 in back dated pay plus 34 hours in annual leave to take on top of everything I've already booked off Grin

Re the fb group, I'm happy to have a closed one although would still like things to remain confidential between us once we know who we all are!

I'm a bit clueless on cervical situations too! Although I've been told that I have cervical erosion too but I don't think I'm effected by it really apart from sometimes having to have multiple smear tests due to the bleeding Confused

I hope everything goes ok re the stitching viper

JacktheLab · 02/10/2014 18:37

Evening all,

I can't start a fb group without two members so if someone can send me a pm with their facebook details we can become friends and then get it started :)

Viper, how did your appointment go?

Memphis, I've had the pain in my left hand side too, no fun!

We have dismantled the spare bed, ready to take to the dump on the weekend, then we can get started with moving DS into his new room and then get the nursery sorted out this weekend, I'm just a bit excited! (I think I posted about this already today?)

Did I tell you guys I have a really large cyst on my left ovary? I've had it since my last pregnancy but the doctors didn't do anything about it last time. I had a meeting with a consultant after my 20 week scan and I think I'm down for an elective section at 39 weeks and most likely they will remove the cyst and my left ovary at the same time. I'm taking the view that I will get the most value for money out of the nhs and it might be easier for child care this way ;)

Other fab news (sorry this is a bit me me) work have told me I have to take six more days of annual leave before I finish up on maternity leave before xmas, so I've booked a couple of long weekends, quite chuffed with the chance for some lazy time before I finish up entirely - hurrah!!!

Memphisbelly · 02/10/2014 18:41

Bangon and jack that is great about extra annual leave!

Glad im not the only one with the pain in my side jack!

bagofsnakes · 02/10/2014 18:41

New to this thread, happy to be here. Our baby is due on 5th Feb and, even though it's baby number two, I'm starting to get pretty excited.

We had a scan a couple of weeks ago and it showed a super healthy cutie - we decided not to find out the sex.

hazzerw saw your question about Hypnobirthing and I'd like to really recommend it to you. We had our last baby in the USA (back in the UK now) and so there was nothing like NCT classes but on the plus side it meant that got to really consider the kind of class/birth we wanted. It was a great idea as it really worked for us. Labour was 8-9 hours, no pain meds, no interventions. Now, I now that part of that was luck of the draw but I really feel that some of it was down to being super relaxed during the whole process. Apparently the more relaxed you are the quicker labour will be and you'll experience less pain. Certainly went that way for me... not that I'm suggesting that it was a pain-free experience - that's be lying :-)

I'd sign up to do the classes pretty soon, maybe something starting when you're 7 months or so. Found it pretty easy to do the prep, just whacked on the relaxation tracks when I was in bed at night and I generally drifted off to sleep at the end of them. It just meant getting into bed half and hour earlier and to be honest, that wasn't a problem at that stage of pregnancy.

Memphisbelly · 02/10/2014 18:42

Also jack I suppose thats a good thing as taking the ovary when they do a c section will mean no extra healing time.

JacktheLab · 02/10/2014 18:54

Right Memphis and I are the first members of the FB group :)

I've set it as a closed group at the moment, so anyone should be able to search for it and request to join. It's called MN Feb 2015 :)

Memphisbelly · 02/10/2014 18:57

Doesn't it have to be a secret group so it doesnt show on newsfeed or have I got that totally wrong?

bagofsnakes · 02/10/2014 19:01

Hi, tired to search for the FB group but nothing came up. Any ideas?

JacktheLab · 02/10/2014 19:02

Secret is better, I just thought it might be easier to search for for the next couple of weeks :)

Memphisbelly · 02/10/2014 19:07

I think with a secret or a closed group people need to be invited? Cant see it on my dh's fb when I search for it either?

JacktheLab · 02/10/2014 19:08

Bag you sent a pm, so I've added you as a friend, I can add you to the group then

Memphis I checked on my husband's facebook, the notifications aren't coming up, but I can set the settings to secret anyway, I know that secret groups aren't visible to others at all ;)

Memphisbelly · 02/10/2014 19:13

But searching to join group it isnt showing up either so maybe people who want to go in fb pm one of us and we add them? If its unsearchable....i would prefer secret personally as I like to vent about people without worrying Grin

freneticfox · 02/10/2014 19:13

Make it a secret group, then people PM you their email address to be added :)

I'll join a FB group - all about making connections at the moment!

OP posts:
freneticfox · 02/10/2014 19:14

Can I PM someone to add me?

JacktheLab · 02/10/2014 19:15
