Night sweats!! I'm bad enough as it is. I definitely don't remember those the first time around. Mind you with a 12year gap there's quite a lot I've forgotten.

Mimosa1 · 23/10/2014 10:08

Hi everyone,

I'm impressed at how ready everyone is getting! DH and I have been delaying buying anything until we move, but we've still not had an offer accepted, so it may be time to start planning to have the baby in our much-loved but tiny 1BR up 3 flights of stairs and a dodgy lift...

I'm 26 weeks today, and have put on 8kg. Just worked out that nearly 18lbs... I can still mostly get into my jeans with a belly belt that widens the waistband, but can tell I'm going to be enormous by the end of this! Harking back to the chocolate conversation though, I think it may have something to do with ice-cream Mars bars!!!

Donkir I did make it to Mothercare over the weekend, (and saw the difference btn a pram and pushchair for myself ;-)) - thanks! I was quite taken with the Mothercare Xpedior travel system - it has the carrycot, carseat, base and cover, etc. for £250 (although they were having an offer on it for £200). Am a bit nervous as it's so much cheaper than most (new) things out there, although it looks quite smart. We're happy to go second hand too. Anyone ever used the Xpedior?

Got to get back to work. Wishing you all, especially Viper and HerRoyal a good day!

x

L1ttleMissGiggles · 23/10/2014 10:21

Hi Mimosa1
I really liked the Xpedior too and it was on the few that just about fitted in my car! I was put off once I read the reviews on the Mothercare website though, at the time it had 2 out of 5 stars and it was down to the car seat. Apparently the sides of the seat are high enough which caused the seatbelt to rub on the babies legs and leave red marks. This put me off as it was the car seat that we will probably use most. I loved everything else about it though. It was light and so easy to clip and un clip things on and off. Have a read through the reviews and see what you think. x

Minichuch Night sweats and lochia (a month long period) just two of the added extras to make those first weeks with an tiny, insatiably hungry insomniac all the more interesting. Luckily newborns tend to make up for it all just by looking at you.

BanglesSpangles · 23/10/2014 10:30

oh god alive- night sweats?! I so didn't sign up for all this! Weird that in all the pregnancy horror tales that people have told me, night sweats haven't come up at all!

BanglesSpangles · 23/10/2014 10:32

ha- have also looked up what lochia is. Thanks bags. Sounds delightful

Memphisbelly · 23/10/2014 10:38

herroyal and bang thank you he is different...a bit like his mother Grin
bang when I had ds I loved when he was 9 months he started becoming a 'real person' and then I agree the stuff they say cracks me up

freneticfox · 23/10/2014 10:41

Wait, what... night sweats?! That wasn't in the brochure...!! I'm awfully temperamental when I get too hot and I loathe being sweaty, especially at night. My poor DH is going to have to ice me down.

Feel like my bump has suddenly firmed up today, I swear I can feel my skin actually stretching. Almost at the 24 week mark (Saturday) - that's viability, right? I wish little bean would move around a bit higher up. It's most unsettling that I can feel things around my bikini line, I swear I'm going to find footprints in my knickers.

Thanks, L1ttleMiss - we don't have a car in London, so it would only be used for very occasional zip car rides, etc. I'm retaking my test at the moment, as my license expired (had an NYC license from where I was living there and never renewed it). Haven't driven for 10 odd years, and have completely forgotten how!

bagofsnakes · 23/10/2014 10:48

Bangles - I'm happy to help Grin

Frenetic I know! Being kicked in the vagina from the inside is deeply unpleasant. Do you know if you're having a boy or a girl? We decided not to find out but with DS I don't remember him being so low down. Wondering if this means DC2 is a girl. Although why my daughter would want to kick me in the vag, I don't know. She doesn't even know me yet!

donkir · 23/10/2014 11:05

I'm having a boy and he still kicks really low.

donkir · 23/10/2014 11:08

Plus 25 weeks today so bit further along. He has moved up slightly but not felt any movement much above my belly button.

bagofsnakes · 23/10/2014 11:11

Hmm, maybe not a definitive gender sign then. With DS I just knew he was a born, even though we didn't find out, I just knew. With this one, I'm not so sure.

hanflan · 23/10/2014 11:20

Mines a girl and most of my kicks are at belly button level, slightly to the right! Not had any fanny kicks since much earlier on haha. I'm quite glad!

freneticfox · 23/10/2014 11:20

bagofsnakes - indeed I am having a boy. Every now and again I'll feel a nudge a bit higher up, but he seems to be at his most comfortable parked against my cervix.

TMI alert - watery discharge made an appearance as of a few days ago. Some people said it's normal for the 2nd trimester, but I've scared myself silly reading stories of people who've leaked amniotic fluid :-/

Me too frenetic, DH was googling for about an hour to talk some sense into me :/ think I panicked him but I'll mention it at my 28 week midwife appointment. Smile

amyandtom · 23/10/2014 11:39

Also having a boy, 24+6 now

donkir · 23/10/2014 11:39

Frenetic I had this last week and kept dashing to the loo in a panic. It does say it's quite normal for extra discharge. Mine seems to have settled now or I've just got used to it.

freneticfox · 23/10/2014 11:47

Yeah I'm tempted to put it down to normal increase in activity down there, but it's the fact I can feel a definite 'rush' when I stand up that's worrying me.

OP posts:
amyandtom · 23/10/2014 11:52

Yep I definitely get a 'rush' too frenetic, mainly when I get up on a morning

Memphisbelly · 23/10/2014 12:30

yep to the rush I am wearing a panty liner everyday now

freneticfox · 23/10/2014 14:41

It just feels like a very slow but constant trickle. I'm quite worried (thanks, Google), but if it's nothing I'm just going to feel ridiculous..

OP posts:
bagofsnakes · 23/10/2014 14:54

You know frenetic it probably is just discharge but if it is pretty constant, and it's bothering you, give the midwife a ring. Feeling slightly ridiculous is a small price for putting your mind at ease.

hanflan · 23/10/2014 16:24

frenetic I was just having a look on the NHS website and it does say that if you experience a sudden increase in discharge, especially if it is watery or blood tinged, then you should contact your midwife. Not wanting to scare you, just better to be safe than sorry I guess!

thingsarelookingup · 23/10/2014 18:51

I've just started to feel nauseous these last few days. And having trouble eating very much. A bit of googling and I'm putting it down to my uterus expanding and pushing my stomach out of the way. Coupled with feeling less forceful kicks I was worried for a while but I can definitely still feel movement it just seems to be in a different direction. Like she's kicking down instead of out.

I'm hoping that with a chance to relax next week over half term I'll start to feel better.

Anybody else getting nausea?
