Frenetic I'm a facilities manager and I'd be shot if I let one of the offices I look after get that hot. 22.5 is optimum, but it can be anywhere between 21 and 24 according to official guidance.
Does your office have a/c and lots of windows?

I am always hot now, but I'm at home so can control it.

freneticfox · 22/10/2014 10:05

We have windows and I have a fan - but I'm not allowed to open the window unless other people are happy for it to be open.

This is why I am starting to wonder if something is wrong with me; I've sweated through a t-shirt and feel dizzy - yet everyone else is still in long sleeved. At 25c. Ugh.

So no A/C?
Windows get a lot of solar gain, so if it's sunny out lowering the blinds will prevent some heat buildup.
In hot weather I go round and lower all blinds first or last thing when no one is there to notice.

freneticfox · 22/10/2014 10:32

We have A/C, but it's never on - everyone else in here HATES even a whiff of a chill in the air.

It's just hit 26c in here and they've finally let me open a window, but feeling very unwell.

BanglesSpangles · 22/10/2014 10:37

26c?! that's mental!! The girl in the office who sat next to me went off to have her baby last week, but before she went, she'd always be throwing windows open or chucking on the air con while the rest of us put scarves on- I figure it's easier for me to put on more clothes than it was for her to take hers off!

In other news, just read a thing in the daily mail (don't judge- I have to do a review of all the news websites for work!) about how a silly percentage of children are vitamin D deficient.

Must admit I'd been flagrantly disregarding the midwife when she'd told me to take a vitamin D supplement, arguing it was July and I wasn't going to bother, but I'm wondering if I should start up now- is anyone else still on the supplements?

Memphisbelly · 22/10/2014 10:37

Christ Frenetic that is warm and ai say this as someone who loves central heating more than life its self.....you do have something wrong with you.....you work with dickheads Grin as you get bigger I would announce that my bump is too big to shave my bikini line and legs and anything that you are forced to do they inflicted on themselves then turn up in a tiny bikini Grin

Have my friend and her baby over shortly, I have been lying on sofa and past half an hour started blitzing....nothing better than a squirt of furniture polish and a scented candle to make it look like you have been busy cleaning

sandulacek · 22/10/2014 10:37

Frenetic are you sure you are in UK? My app is showing 11 degrees outside. How can there be 26 in your office??

sandulacek · 22/10/2014 10:43

Bangles I still religiously take the combo D, C and folic acid. not that much sun in UK Grin

hanflan · 22/10/2014 10:50

Bangles it's not just kids, adults too! Not enough sun or time spent outside, a huge percentage of us are deficient! There's vit D in my pregnancy vits so I'm hoping that's enough to top me up haha

JacktheLab · 22/10/2014 11:01

My prenatals have vit d3 listed so I wonder if that's the right ones?

Dh got a kick or two this morning after I told him to put his hand on my tummy and be patient, he was really pleased Grin

bagofsnakes · 22/10/2014 11:03

I am still taking prenatal vits (which include Vit D) as and when I can, they have always made me feel ill. Anyone else get that? It was the same last time around to, they just make me feel really queazy and I've tried a few brands.

I tend not to worry (maybe wrongly so) about the whole vit D thing as we live in the south and spend an awful lot of time outside, regardless of season. My general understanding is that, if you spend a ton of time outside over the summer, and a reasonable about of time outside over the rest of the year, you should have reserves enough to deal with the winter. Of course if, for whatever reason, you can't get out much and/or you live in the north of Scotland where you really do get next to no light during the winter, supplements could well be necessary. I did read that they were thinking of adding more vit D to foods in Scotland because of that.

hanflan · 22/10/2014 11:04

Awww jack that's cute! My DH has only felt her a couple of times but he does get very excited when it happens! Last night he felt her rolling over... I couldn't feel a thing!

hanflan · 22/10/2014 11:06

bag My vits made me very sick, I have now found that I can only take them with dinner, and that's only if it's a good sized dinner! Lot's of food to go down with the tablet seems to solve the problem, otherwise it's pukes ahoy!

blankfornames · 22/10/2014 11:09

You are all going to think I'm bonkers, but I'm constantly cold! I'm sat here in work right beside the radiator! My work colleague thinks that I have a faulty thermostat!!

freneticfox · 22/10/2014 11:35

Sand - the heating is on full. Our building is fully accessible to the blind so we have no radiators and it is all under floor heating, so it gets mighty toasty mighty quick when doors are kept closed.

I've managed to wangle one of the quiet rooms at the other end of the building where my digital thermometer now tells me I'm working at 20c. Much happier!

Last winter it was a massive pain - I've always been of the thought process it's easier to warm up than cool down - once you're down to skin you're a bit limited as to things you can do to cool yourself! But asking people to layer up here is like asking for blood from a stone.

OP posts:
donkir · 22/10/2014 12:29

I'm still taking more vits. I had to change brands though as the pregnacare ones made me sick.
It's not just lack of sunlight it's people using factor 50 sun cream which blocks all the light.
I'm lucky in that my work as a nanny keeps me outside a lot.

sandulacek · 22/10/2014 13:37

Frenetic yay 20c sounds much better. My work office is in an old building so we have the opposite problem. I sneakily looked at my work emails the other week and spotted an email about the heating not working...one advantage to being at home at least.

Not sure if anyone saw the Trust me I'm a doctor(think last week) when they did a test about vit D deficit - they had 3 groups of people - taking supplement, 20 mins in the sun at the lunchtime and eating oily fish. The being outside came up as good as the supplements!

Jack I'm desperate for my DH to feel some kicks. But finally I'm feeling her bubbling at 22+2. Anyone else due end of February still waiting? # impatient

Viperama · 22/10/2014 14:17

DP proudly told me yesterday morning that he'd had his hand on my belly while I was still asleep, feeling the bBy wriggle about for a good 15 minutes. I love that they managed some 121 time already Grin

sandulacek · 22/10/2014 14:23

That's so cute viper. How are you doing btw?

BanglesSpangles · 22/10/2014 14:26

aah that's so cute- I would have so woken up if my other half did that!

purpleteapig · 22/10/2014 15:27

I don't like my husband touching my belly - I let him as it would be mean not to but I always flinch when he does. Think it's because he sometimes brushes my belly button, which I HATE. I'm weird about belly buttons at the best of times, but now it sticks out I'm super squeamish!!

JacktheLab · 22/10/2014 15:34

Oh my god the pointless frequent peeing is back - argh!!!

Memphisbelly · 22/10/2014 16:48

Purple I have an outie belly button so I hate people touching it and now it is full on out like a space hopper it makes me feel gross! When ds was in my belly if he kicked my bellybutton I was actually sick...hoping this one doesn't start that!

Had my friend with her sicky baby here I literally cuddled her for hours in the hope keeping her propped would help her not vom and it worked! It was lovely to have her all snuggled into my neck Smile

Put the cot upand tidied the downstairs, dh was suppost to be away tonight but he is home later.....im out for a curry so he will have to cook for himself Grin

donkir · 22/10/2014 17:22

Memphis I also have an outie belly button. It's nice to know someone else has one too. I quite like mine now I'm older. It does hurt every now and then if baby kicks in the right place.

Memphisbelly · 22/10/2014 18:19

Donkir yes I like it now....none of this belly button fluff people talk oft is just untouchable though. i remember a student mw at my booking in app with ds going 'oh your button has popped already' with a shocked face was so funny!
