I am waking at 3am every morning, but after a trip to the loo it isn't too difficult to settle back down again. Baby seems to wake up then too so maybe I should get used to getting up at 3am. Although I sneezed really violently during last nights loo stop and pulled all the muscles in my tummy so feeling a little sore today. Still I have a flexi day tomorrow and I am definitely having a duvet/sofa-based day.

HerRoyalNotness · 21/10/2014 11:55

Isn't it funny going off chocolate, I did too, I can eat it again now but definitely don't feel like I neeeeeed it and am eating less of it.

I've also been waking early. Have to pee about 4am then normally stay awake and after school run had been going back to bed for a couple of hours. Glad I was on leave as I'm not sure how I would have coped getting to the office and working.

freneticfox · 21/10/2014 12:10

I've been rubbish at keeping up this weekend!

Had a day out with my Mum and Grandmother yesterday - didn't do a huge amount of walking but I still feel wiped out today, which is a bit of a pain since I'm back at work full time.

I've found a new thing to worry about today. Knicker-checking. Oh the glamour.

helloo helloo,
i woke up for a wee at 4 and then proper bolt upright, wide awake awake at 5- most displeasing cos the alarm doesnt go off until half 6, so feeling sleepy now! ...think i was having a weird dream about downton abbey. As you do

sandulacek · 21/10/2014 14:18

Hello,

Another bad sleeper here Hmm. I keep waking up at 2pm to go to the toilet. Usually manage to fall asleep but I was just watching the ceiling so went downstairs and read for a bit. 2.5 hours later and I was ready to go back to bed. I then managed to sleep for 4.5 hours! What's the point? On my 3rd week of the sick leave so at least I can take it easy.

is anyone playing any specific music to their LO?

Viperama · 21/10/2014 14:30

Afternoon all. I'm not sleeping well at night either but think more to do with always lying down. I wake up due to sore bump (bad position) or bladder. This morning slept after DP left and dreamed I was walking around, remembered I'm on bed rest and panicked as I was on other side of town!!

HerRoyal great to hear you are being looked after, and able to see your kids a few times a week now. I forget which City you are in, a good mate of mine here mom is a nurse in Houston I think, stranger things have happened!

I love chocolate as well and I'm big on sea salt/caramel varieties. But I like dark so most 'high street' varieties don't do, I'm big on green and blacks. I'm also big on fudge. Worry I'm going to give myself gestational diabetes!!

bagofsnakes · 21/10/2014 15:19

I too worry what I'm doing to myself with all the sugar. Thanks to Memphis I had to go out and get an toffee apple sponge pudding and a pot of custard, no one else in the house with eat it so for better or worse, the sugar is all mine. I also have the most addictive white chocolate and raspberry ice-cream in freezer - ugh! I must eat more kale.

After a month of being ill (viral infection, aggravated asthma, now chest infection) I've finally crashed, I've taken the doctor's stern advice and I'm now off work until after the half-term holiday. It really kills me to be away having so many exam classes but I know that I'm just not going to get well if I keep dragging myself in.

The doctor has prescribed antibiotics (Cefalexin as I am allergic to penicillin) but I am so nervous to take them. Have just been reading (I know that in situations like this one should just stay the F away from google) that they cross the placenta and there is some possibility of them affecting the fetus. Anyone else had to take antibiotics while pregnant? I had to take a course of steroids for the asthma just the other week and I really don't like taking things at the best of times, let alone while preggers.

Thankfully baby Bags seems to be doing just fine in the midst of all of this.

donkir So, do you love the coat? I went into JoJo at the weekend to try it on and while they didn't have my size in the blue, it did look lovely. I keep meaning to order it online but then the weather is SO warm.

JacktheLab · 21/10/2014 15:56

Don't worry guys you're just having my sugar share too Wink

I wake at least a night for a pee, but I'm managing to get back to sleep ok, it's just not enough even if I do gave a full eight hours I still wake up tired Hmm

I do get lovely first thing in their bing little boy cuddles when he comes through although he has such cold feet!!!

Minichuch · 21/10/2014 16:01

Afternoon all, wow I thought it was just me who seemed to be going chocolate crazy - I'm normally a savoury person.

Been for my 2nd 20 week scan today as junior decided to be awkward when went last time and couldn't get measurement on heart or spine - all looks good thou - sonographer even commented on how wriggly junior was - defo feeling more and more movement

Still got no bump and in normal clothes dh is gutted I think he thought I would be the size of a house by now

Got an appointment through, out of the blue, to go see consultant - think that's because they are concerned with my weight - I know I should lose a few lbs - really not looking forward to some judgemental consultant :-(

BanglesSpangles · 21/10/2014 16:24

Sand- My bump appears to be favouring the music of metallica and skunk anansie... had a right old wriggle when we were playing it in the car anyway!

I too am on a sweet thing- gah, Viper, can you give yourself gestational diabetes? Panicking now because if so, I'm a prime candidate, given the crap I've been eating recently!

Bagofsnakes- I know what you mean- i'd feel a bit weird about antibiotics too, but mainly because i think doctors seem to give them out like sweets- i think if i was genuinely ill enough to know they'd make a difference, i'd definitely take them

HerRoyalNotness · 21/10/2014 16:29

viper I am in Houston as it happens, at Memorial Hermann downtown

mini that's good going not having a bump yet! I'm glad I didn't splash too much on mat clothes for work seeing as I'll be living in joggers and tees instead.

purpleteapig · 21/10/2014 16:55

I'm addicted to chocolate at the moment too - terrible as I can't go a single day without weakening and dashing out to get some! The hazelnut lindt bars are my obsession at the moment...mmmm

You'll save a load of cash on maternity clothes, mini, if you are able to wear your own stuff! I feel like my bump rounds a corner a good minute before the rest of me

Memphisbelly · 21/10/2014 17:19

Bagofsnakes cefalexin is totally safe to take during pregnancy I had a gyne nurse tell me it has been the go to anti b for yesrs for pregnant women she was annoyed though as because I have a penicillin allergy the system wouldnt allow her to prescribe it, she was ranting at the screen saying it isn't penicillin based why wont it let me! I did get another anti b though. I usually take 36 tsbs a day and I am not on 20 a day I do worry as last time they took me off one that this time they havent.

I am averaging a bar or 2 of choc a night but satsumas are now in season so I am getting a sugar fix from them.

Went H and M today and got a nice dark maroon leapard print jumper. Im away with a group of glam girls next week so wanted to look nice in the day so got slim fit jeans too. The jumper splits up the sides so it is a nursing jumper too.....not that I will need that.

HerRoyalNotness · 21/10/2014 17:24

Jumper sounds nice memphis. I might have a gander online

sandulacek · 21/10/2014 17:25

Interesting choice bangles bump Grin. I was wondering if any of the classical music cd's would be worth buying. Someone was telling me that their LO 'remembered the music and it helped settling him down.

bags - I was on antibiotics, morphine and who knows what else for a week after my hospital escapade. Obviously I can't say if/how it effected baby B but the doctors wouldn't prescribe it if it wasn't safe (I hope!)

freneticfox · 21/10/2014 17:25

Bangles - An excellent choice! We've been trying to do our best to be eclectic with music we play, but we always seem to loop back to our metal/rock roots!

Noticed something strange today - I'm wearing leggings a lot at the moment, which has been fine. But today while sat at my desk (first time in nearly two weeks) each time the waist band rode above my pubic bone, I got rewarded with a swift kick from bean. Is it possible clothing pressing on my abdomen could be bothering him?

First time Mum, possibly a dumb Q...

donkir · 21/10/2014 17:27

Bagofsnakes I was very unsure of the coat to start with as its really not my style. I'm more of a jeans, jumper and trainers kind of girl. I have however changed my mind it's very snuggly and warm and had a compliment from one of the mums at school this morning which is a bonus.

Memphisbelly · 21/10/2014 17:33

Oh and bags last time With ds I was on all sorts, drip anti b's liquid morphine a lot throughout pregnancy and also had a general so I could have keyhole surgery...then they shoved some sort of horse pill up my ass for pain relief as I was coming round.....not my finest moment Grin

Donkir my local Jojo doesn't have that coat in, sounds like we have same style, I saw a lovely maternity padded Parka in H and M and it was only £40 but I worry it wont be warm enough for xmas on a market stall!

Memphisbelly · 21/10/2014 17:34

Oh and me again, I played a lot of stereophonics, Paulo Nutini and the Beatles when pg last time and ds still loves this type of music....now also loving Ed Sheeran Grin

JacktheLab · 21/10/2014 17:43

Guys don't worry I don't think you can give yourself diabetes, it's more to do with your body not being able to produce enough insulin due to the baby. I don't eat much sugar at all and I still got it, both pregnancies. But I know others who went sugar mad and were fine Smile

No music here, although bump must get an earful of her brother when he doesn't want a bath Grin

thingsarelookingup · 21/10/2014 18:23

Glad to hear that about GD jack. I too am a sugar fiend at the best of times. Well, clearly not glad that you have had but I hope you know what I mean!

Frenetic I definitely get kicked when my clothes or seatbelt are too tight around the bump. It's not a problem though, it certainly isn't harming baby they are just being grumpy sods.

I haven't been playing any music to the bump so far. Poor girl just gets treated to the sounds of classrooms full of teenagers. Nevermind.

bagofsnakes · 21/10/2014 18:35

Thanks all for the reassurance re antibiotics. I ended up emailing my good friend who is a GP for a second opinion (although not a perfect second opinion as she obviously can't examine me) and she confirmed that it was thought to be perfectly safe during pregnancy but that there weren't actually a ton of studies. She did say that I could leave them for 24/48 hours and, if I was feeling better I could hold off taking them as I will probably get well without them if I rest. She said not to leave starting the course any longer than that if I wasn't feeling any better, as a really ill mum would be worse than any side-effects. I think I'm going to go with that.

I've really got to remember, as you pointed out Memphis that plenty of babies are born to woman who are taking a whole lot of medication for a range of reasons, and they're perfectly healthy. I must stop freaking out over little things!

Thank you also JacktheLab - I'll now be having another serving of pudding :-)

As for music, with DS it was Paul Simon's Graceland all the way, with a bit of Kate Rusby and Nina Simone thrown in. This one has to just listen to what DS wants to listen to which, amusingly, is a mix of Billy Bragg and Elvis at the moment.

Memphisbelly · 21/10/2014 18:51

Bagofsnakes I still worry eventhough the meds I took last time were fine. Ds had no side effects at all, when I had a GA they told me I would have reduced movements for upto 4 days but when I saw the surgeon they said the baby continued to wrigle during the surgery (keyhole in stomach) he had never come across it before then when I was in labour I had pethadine and they said oh it makes bany sleepy for first few days....he didn't stop jigging at all so weather these were side effects I don't know but he really was fine.....also I would prefer to take anti bs rather than have a temp for example as I worry after reading a temp can be bad for baby due to them not being able to regulate temps while in the womb.

Bangonthedoor · 21/10/2014 19:26

Evening all! Just caught up on today's posts Smile Good to hear from everyone!

Had midwife appt today which went fine, heartbeat was nice and strong, nothing else much to report from my end!

donkir · 21/10/2014 20:24

Loving all the music tastes. I've not really played this one anything yet just a bit of radio 2. My ds had the joys of Boyzone and west life bless him. I was 19 though so hopefully can be forgiven.
