Yes Jan sales are more for xmas overstocks and clothing....pushchair seasons are I think May to May so rarely go down, the only plus you may have is that independant stores are normally quieter in Jan so you can bargain (we got a maxicosi carseat thrown in but the pushchair and bits did add up to about a grand)

I have gone through the baby room, wiped down all of the cot bits before we put it together, put all the 0-3 in a box, newborn in a drawer and blind is up.....once we have cot up the nappies can all be stored underneath and all other bits can go into the cot. Need my dad to come and change light fitting for me and then I can have a shade and dimmer

Memphisbelly · 15/10/2014 15:53

Ah frenetic that is rubbish....may be worth calling and saying if they get any cancelled appoints to consider you, our local hospital does this.

BanglesSpangles · 15/10/2014 16:17

boo frenetic- that's such a long time :(

Memphis, you are so flipping organised!

This is the weekend, people- i can feel it- it's the weekend that i get myself straight, rather than just talking about it

freneticfox · 15/10/2014 16:27

Wondering whether to call my midwife, or if it's quicker just to call the physio department directly? I really can't imagine waiting another six weeks to get help :(

OP posts:
Memphisbelly · 15/10/2014 16:30

Frenetic call both.... Between them they should sort it.....cry if you have to nothing scarier than a pregnant crying woman!Grin

Bangles I had a headstart as we decorated and cleared the room about a week before I found out I was pg, the cot is safer being constructed rather than risk it falling on ds or the dog.

freneticfox · 15/10/2014 16:42

Well I phoned the physio department and I ended up in tears at how rude and nasty they were... they spoke to me like I was spoilt child asking for ice cream! Called my midwife really upset and she's said she'll try and sort it. Considering making a complaint against the department though, being told "you're pregnant, love, pain is normal. Just get on with it, most women do"

This pregnancy is just one hiccup after another.

OP posts:
Memphisbelly · 15/10/2014 16:49

Frenetic I would complain. What nasty gits. It isn't normal to get severe pain in pregnancy. Sounds like my doc when I had pnd who said all new mothers feel like how I did and gave me a look like I was pathetic! (Who later I did complain about)

sandulacek · 15/10/2014 17:27

Frenetic that's bad. Complain about their attitude! They don't know what underlying issue there might be. If I just rang GP as advised by the ambulance service ... shit don't want to think!

donkir · 15/10/2014 17:43

Welcome all the newbies.
Frenetic that's appalling. Some people really don't understand how dabilitating pregnancy can be.
Really struggling today also. I normally get an hour to put my feet up at work when the lo sleeps but today I had to go get my flu jab (ouch it really hurts) so he had early sleep in car. We're both now completely over tired.
I've also booked my 28 week whooping cough vaccine in.
Mouth ulcers are still very much there and I asked pharmacy if there's anything I can do and the answer was a resounding no. I can gargle mouth wash but when ulcers are on the outside of my mouth it's really not going to help.
Rolling bed time.

bagofsnakes · 15/10/2014 18:06

frenetic that is an awful thing to say to a patient... it's a awful thing to say to anyone! I would most certainly write a complaint letter to the department, with that exact quote and the time and the date that you called so that they can talk to person involved.
Really hope the midwife can help out - x

GeekyHybrid · 15/10/2014 19:30

Poor you frenetic, it makes you wonder why some people bother going into the 'caring profession'! That sort of attitude is crap.

I ended up going to the hospital this afternoon as the cramps have not cleared. They still have no explanation but baby is fine, they did a couple of tests and I'm not imminently due to go into labour (phew) so basically it's a case of rest up for a few days and hopefully it will go away. It really does take me back to teenage PMT where I used to hug a duvet for a couple of days - then got myself on the pill for the next 20 odd years! Luckily kindle daily deal had one of my favourite authors featured today so I won't be relying on daytime TV for entertainment.

Memphisbelly · 15/10/2014 20:04

We took furniture from spare room got cot in there, couldn't find the fixings then found them and broke the bloody cot....so my lovely cot is no more

BanglesSpangles · 15/10/2014 20:34

Frenetic, that's awful- definitely complain. They shouldn't make you feel like that when you're in pain- is not like yours making it up!

Memphis- Bah! Bad cot- get out the power tools- power tools fix everything! And if not, duct tape :D

At my mums for the evening. Have had stew and dumplings for dinner and am now watching my mum knit the baby a blanket- knitting really is bloody amazing- I just don't get it at all and she makes it look so easy!

jenmcspen · 15/10/2014 21:30

I've been working today and seem to have LOTS of posts to catch up on Smile and nice to see our little group is still growing...

oh memphis is the cot not salvagable at all? Sad

and frenetic sounds like you've had an awful time with ur referral, really hope it gets sorted for u soon

Don't feel like we are organised, as although nursery is 95% done now (carpet went in today! yey!), we still have the bathroom to be refitted, half the house to recarpet and the living room to sort, all hopefully before baby arrives...wonder some days if i'm being a bit optimistic about how much time i have!

Also, have bought very little so far, but have very kindly been gifted a few second hand things such as furniture which have started to arrive... can't believe how generous ppl can be Smile a lady my dad works with gave him a john lewis cot for us for nothing which he has brought round and built today

Memphisbelly · 15/10/2014 22:47

Jenmc sadly not we cracked the dropside mechanism when we moved and that part we totally broke off meaning it wont lock up at all mesning it is t safe.
The thing I am gutted about is it was dark wood and all the dark wood ones are so expensive so need to pop to kiddicare and see what instore offers they have on. I loved that bloody cot.

Memphisbelly · 15/10/2014 22:48

Bangles it is amazing a lady bought me two cardis she knitted it looks like its a knitted basket weave so clever!

longbottom · 16/10/2014 18:47

Evening ladies, actually feeling better today! Going back to work tomorrow after a week off, going to miss napping on and off all day!
I sat and watched baby moving last night, made me all emotional!

Memphisbelly · 16/10/2014 20:14

Longbottom glad you are feeling ok now.

Wow you have all been quiet today!

I had day off work as ds is ill tonsils and sinuses, had to go docs first thing then he reacted to meds so had to take him again last thing! Poor boy,
But I reckon nesting may have kicked in I emptied fridge and food cupboards bleached them all and put everything back neatly (and threw some out of date stuff out) tomorrow I have 3 more cupboards to tackle in the kitchen if I get motivated.

purpleteapig · 16/10/2014 20:40

Evening all,

This place is quiet today! Memphis, hope your son is feeling better - it's the bug season now unfortunately. I feel like I need a mask when I'm travelling on the tube.
Starting to worry that I should be potty training son (2.2) as when baby is here it'll be difficult. Not sure if he's ready but maybe I should give it a shot & if it doesn't work try again in a couple of months...

HerRoyalNotness · 16/10/2014 20:57

I've just been to consultant and my membranes have ruptured, 22 weeks tomorrow. DH on his way home. I'm very scared. I got back to consultant in 2 weeks and if baby girl is still hanging in there they will put me straight into hospital. Such a bloody nightmare and have no clue how to get through the next 2 weeks. I have to pack a hospital bag and don't know what to put in it. Should I be thinking about some premie things or worry about that later if I have to. Also have to take temp several times daily as am now at risk of infection.

DHs trip home to see his DD in 2 wks and work trip straight after are now cancelled. Don't know whether to ask MIL to come over for a bit just in case as we have no one here for support.

Memphisbelly · 16/10/2014 21:03

Herroyalnotness oh my goodness you poor thing. Don't worry sbout prem clothes just yet, they normally start off in what hospital provide. I have no advice but just letting you know we are here to chat/rant to when you need us x

JacktheLab · 16/10/2014 21:12

Oh HerRoyal everything crossed for you! Don't worry about premmie things, just look after yourself and lets hope the next two weeks go quickly and without anything bad happening!

Bangonthedoor · 16/10/2014 21:21

Gosh herroyal im sorry this has happened. Put anything but you and your little one to the back of your mind and just take each day as it comes. Look after yourself and rest lots. We're all here if you need a chat.

Hope DS is feeling better soon memphis it's horrible when they're ill isn't it. Especially when suffering like your DS is.

HerRoyalNotness · 16/10/2014 21:53

Thanks, I will definitely need to rant here. Any ideas of how to occupy my mind for 2 weeks?

I've read some stories where this has happened to women about the same gestation and it has worked out just fine, even with minimal fluid. I don't know what my level is atm. I will just try to get through the next fortnight without breaking down and then one day at a time. I may ask my Dr if I can go in for check ups more frequently than weekly so I don't have to have so many worry days.

I have to at least sort out a calendar for DH for the next couple of months and he'll have to do reduced hours if I'm in hospital to be able to do the school run. And cancel our nY trip for Xmas as well. Will try to deal with that tomorrow. Trying hard not to think of the potential hospital bill either (US health care!). Mind is spinning just now.

Memphisbelly · 16/10/2014 22:02

Write a list of things you need to do thst you can do from the sofa like cancel the trip and work through, this will keep your mind bust.
There is actually a recent thread on here about someones waters going and they are doing ok so far may worth finding it for a read?
