Morning Ladies, how are we all doing?

I had literally a whole weekend on the sofa feeling sorry for myself- think it worked though- Am very convinced I have kicked my cold in the arse- just a bit of a runny nose now.

Time to do some immune system boosting, I think- anyone take anything pregnancy-friendly? I don't usually 'do' supplements, but given how crap I felt last week, I think I may need to make an exception!

sandulacek · 13/10/2014 10:47

Morning all!
Hope you all had a good weekend. We managed a trip for a dinner on Saturday night as part of me getting back to normal. Also had few visitors yesterday which was nice.
Sadly with the wet weather outside and DH back to work I fear a trashy telly day coming. Oh well, I was really good last week...

Memphisbelly · 13/10/2014 10:57

bangles i wonder if we can take barocca that gives you a vit boost i will find out im going chemist soon

amyandtom · 13/10/2014 11:22

Now have leaky boobs as of last night I'm only at 23+3!

BanglesSpangles · 13/10/2014 12:13

ooh, berocca might be a good shout. Although I always get really alarmed at the colour that stuff turns my wee!!

Memphisbelly · 13/10/2014 14:45

Bangles barocca is fine when pg also do a mixed berry flavour which doesn't make your pee fluro orange Grin I have bought some, on of those usually perks me up when not pg hoping it works! (On 3 4 2 in boots)
Most mondays I help grandad (who is blind) to do his shopping, hoovering and get pension. He usually gives me a little money to treat myself and today gave me £20 for baby so i bought some wipes, pack of dummies, milk powder dispensers, bottle brush and their cussions mum to be range is all half price so I got the lotion, body wash and the firming boob serum...thinking a serum may moisurise better and stop me wanting to rip my skin off with itching. Few mor things off of my baby list.

freneticfox · 13/10/2014 14:54

Weekend of bedrest has spilled into Monday of bed rest... still in huge amounts of pain. Feeling a bit ropey today as well, don't know if it's pain or hormones, but feeling queasy.

Here's to getting past this blip ASAP...

I have been hit with flu! Was due to have flu job tomorrow!
Baby has been so active last couple of days though so that does cheer me up slightly!

longbottom · 13/10/2014 18:16

In other news, a friend has just had her baby boy and has used the only boy name I like! I'm gutted!

Memphisbelly · 13/10/2014 18:45

Longbottom...what was the name?

thingsarelookingup · 13/10/2014 19:14

Oh suzi I am jealous. That sounds like a lovely couple of weeks you have ahead of you Smile

LittleMissSunshine33 · 13/10/2014 20:22

I've been looking at maternity pay tonight it's not as bad as I first thought!
How long is everyone taking off for maternity?

longbottom · 13/10/2014 20:36

It was Arhur, Memphis! Been looking through baby names book since.
I'm taking 9 months off, planning on working up to 37 weeks.

Grinningcat · 13/10/2014 21:02

I'm taking the full year. My last job has really poor maternity pay so I'd saved up during a stint of working away from home to make up for potential future lack of pay. Now my new job has good maternity pay for the first 4 months so with the money I've saved up We'll be fine for a year.

blankfornames · 13/10/2014 21:09

Bangles, I had a proper headcold last week. I felt really miserable and peeved that I couldn't take anything. I squeezed a whole lemon into boiling water with a little sugar, popped some cloves into a wedge of lemon, sat it on top and had that three times a day for two days. My cold went after two days! It's like Christmas in a cup really! Just the boost that I needed!

BanglesSpangles · 13/10/2014 21:30

Oo loving the idea of chrismas in a cup!

Just returned from my first yoga session. It was a tiny bit wafty, which was entirely inevitable, but isn't really quite up my street, but i think it'll be worth it for the stretching and strength work, and I definitely came away feeling ready to face the world

Have now pinned down my maternity leave to 7 months, plus whatever holiday I decide to tack onto the start or end

In non-baby news, Ive just discovered tescos have got biscuit flavoured spreads- like nutella, but custard cream, bourbon and cookie flavour. I will report back in due course :D

Memphisbelly · 13/10/2014 22:20

Bangles have you tried biscotti spread its those little biscuits you get in coffee shops in a spread...I just eat it from the spoon Blush

JacktheLab · 13/10/2014 22:28

Howdy all, I wrote a big post and lost it this morning Confused

Busy weekend, ds decided to party at one am on sat morning for a couple of hours but lovely DH took him away and I fell asleep. They slept in until eight am and I got up at six and had a couple of hours to myself, which was lovely :) then we had a big walk round the shops, met up with my aunt and her family for lunch (I omitted to tell her that I was pregnant - oops so had a bit of apologising to do!)

Sunday ds had a pal round to play and for lunch and then I took both of them to soft play birthday party, still hate those places but he had a grabs time. Two over excited three year olds in the car was a new experience!

So tired by the end of it all, went to work for a break today!

I'm planning on just over a year on leave, finish up on 19th dec and go back the second working week of 2016 Grin but no more babies for us so it's likely that I won't have any more longer leave until I retire so making the most of it.

BanglesSpangles · 14/10/2014 03:31

Whaa? Biscotti spread?! Imgoing to have to seek this out

GeekyHybrid · 14/10/2014 06:37

While all this talk of biscuit flavoured choc spread would normally send me sprinting to the shops, one of my pregnancy 'side effects' seems to be a lack of interest or taste for chocolateSad well wierd. If I remember by the time things return to normal (will they ever?!) then I'll seek them out for a gorging session!
On another theme. Is anyone else getting scared about their little one's apparent sleep pattern? Mine seems to get active about 10pm, then 3am and again at 5am. If it continues that I am not going to be a very happy sleep deprived bunny!

JacktheLab · 14/10/2014 06:49

Geeky,

they do sleep when you are not moving, it's one of the challenges of having a newborn, they continue that when they are out too. My DS swapped round after about twelve weeks, but it's one of the things I distinctly remember when he was six weeks, remembering that my mother had to go back to work when I was six weeks old and being very very glad I didn't have to! Oh and he didnt sleep through for a lot longer, although some babies do, I've ordered the next one to sleep through from six weeks - wonder if she has got the memo though?!?

JacktheLab · 14/10/2014 07:02

No no! They don't sleep when you are not moving - disturbed nights sleep sorry!

Bangonthedoor · 14/10/2014 07:31

Morning all!

Bit of a disturbed night for me too. I was really craving crackling at 2:30 this morning! I could have actually cried, smoky bacon crisps had to do!

I'm very excited for today, I'm doing my primark shop for all things for my hospital bag!! Eeek I loved this bit first time round! DP is funding it also so happiness all round!

Memphisbelly · 14/10/2014 07:46

Geeky this is the exact pattern my baby has and the same one ds had too for months after he was born....my friend is at her wits end as he new baby is awake every hour through the night and night before last she slept from 11-2...... Thst was it then awake until 6am Shock
Ds didn't sleep though until gone 3 years old so I have ordered a sleeper......although friends with sleepers then end up having a meltdown when teething starts as they aren't used to loads of wake ups. Ds has taken to waking for the day at 4.45am....this is killing me...he is 4roll on teenage years when he will sleep until lunch
